Stolen by means of burglary on 18th instant, at Amer- sham:— about 2 dozen pairs of women's and children's Boots, tome of them spring sides, and others buttoned ; also about 2- dozen pairs of men's and boy's strong lace- up boots, various sizes, most of them having the price written in plain figures on the bottom of soles. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Woodham Morti- mer, on 11th instant:— four silver tea Spoons, marked ' B.' j two liickle silver dessert Spoons, marked 1 W. B.'; two silver dessert Spoons; seven common plated tea Spoons ; a large gold oval Brooch, with cameo woman's head in centre ; and a gold plated Brooch, with white china stag iu centre. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at the Vicarage, Water Orton. during the night of 19th instant, the property cf the Rev. H. S. Watson :— 14 bottles of new port Wine ; a dark grey Oxford cloth Overcoat, and a black soft felt Hat, both clerical style, the coat had a pocket on each hip, and a roocket on outside of left breast, a pair of black kid gloves were in one pocket; a dark leather Cigar Case ; a silk Umbrella ; a alpacca Ditto, and 3 Sovereigns. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Found at Shipton, on 13th instant, and supposed stolen : — a dark brown nag Mare, aged, about 14 hands high, near fore and hind fetlocks white, star on forehead, shod all round, and supposed in foal, in fair condition. Stolen from Shelfield, during the last five weeks :— two slack faced yearling Sheep, marked with the letter ' T.' on left side. Information to Mr. Supt. Wanted for stealing a Pony and Cart, recovered, at Soham, during the night of 15th instant:— a man, between 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair com- plexion, with freckled or blotcbey face, and light stubby moustiche ; dressed in black felt hat, and light mixture suit. Stolen from a field in Cannock - real, Hednesford, between 11 a. m. 15th, and 8ja. m. 16th iost. :— the Carcase of a ewe lamb, the skin, head, and entrails were left behind in the field, the skin appeared to have been pulled oft'. Description of GEORGE WHITE, a stableman of Nott- ingham, wanted uuder a warrant at King's Lynn, for stealing a Horse on 7th instant, which has been recovered :— he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, brown hair, small dark moustache, dark complexion, thin features, roman nose, slight build ; dressed in light check coat, brown vest, and black trousers, but may be wearing a new cheap dark tweed suit with small white specks in it; he to ) k train for London and is known at Barnet; his father distributes hand- bills for tradesmen at Nottingham. Found, turned into a field at Spalding, on 15th instant, supposed stolen:— a dark brown nag Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, black legs, mane cut off, tail cut short, white star on forehead, grey on both sides of ribs, both knees broken, clipped all over with exception of its back ; a large spiing Ca t, painted chocolate lined wi. h red, brass wheel caps, painted black, brass caps on end of shafts, brass tug stops, iron breech band ring?, l ight side step has been recently broken off, both wiugs broken off, tail board tied up with window sash cord, double seat, inside of cart painted blue, name on right shaft recent'y scratched off ; and a set of Harness, with silver aid brass mountings, leather bit to bridle, and a pair of long leather reins. NIXON, alias CLOUT, now in custody with stealing her :— a Mare, 25 hands high, aged, white mark on breast, inside of heel of near hind foot is white and the off hind leg is a dirty white inside ; has a small lump near off sboucler- blade, stands over very much ou forelegs, both knees brown, and rough dirty coat. Supposed stolen from a field at Blyth Bridge, during the night of 3rd instant:— a black Filly, 3 years old, shod all round, brand mark ' 8' on near forefoot; also a Horse, rising 2 years old, white star on forehead, aud a little white on one hind foot, and a braud mark ' 8 ' on near forefoot. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Stolen at Leighton Buzzard, about 5 p. m. on 17th inst.: — a silver Geneva Watch, No. 81490, open- face, white enamel dial, no glass, rim for glass bent. Supposed by a man, from 30 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, thin built; dressed iu dark clothes, and black round felt hat. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Shepherd, LEIGIITON BUZZARD, Beds.— Bow- rtreet, November 23. Charged with stealing at Burton- on- Trent, on 21st inst.: — a pilot cloth Overcoat, ' Messrs. Wilson and Blood, Ashby,' on collar loop, holo burned in front, pockets on hips, one out side left, and one inside right breaBt, black Italian cloth lining, black bone buttons, bottom one rearly off. By a man, an engineer, 26 or 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, ruddy complexion, fair hair, parted in centre, light moustache, slight whiskers, blue or grey eyes, medium build ; dressed in black cloth trousers and vest, short pilot jacket, plaid cloth patch on one sleeve, grey woollen shirt, lace- up boots, and hard black felt hat. Information to James Gilbride, Supt., BURTON- ON- TRENT.— Bow- street, November 23. Stolen on 2lst instant, at West Bromwich :— a man's silver Geneva Wa'ch, No. 47025 ; a long eilver Guard ; and a pair of man's worsted cloth trousers. By a man who lodged in the house one night, about 55 years of age, 6 feet high, medium build, fresh complexion, grey side whiskers, no mous- tache, his occupation is supposed to be among horses. S olen early on morning of 20lh instant:— a black cloth Overcoat, bound with black braid, pockets at sides, breast pocket left side, ticket pocket right side, one pocktt containing several places. By a man, who lodged in the house duiing the night, aoout 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair complexion, l'ght hair, cut very short, slight figure, light slight moust iche, said he belonged to Croydon, and had worked iu the Gas Works; be was dressed in woillen co: d trousers, light mingled cloth jacket, and mingled cloth bat, wore round his neck a small Sco'ch plaid scarf. BATES, a tramping gasfitter, and native of Brade- street, Snow Hill, Birmingham, he is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, black hair, inclined to cuil, ha; r on face when last seen, about a f< rinight's growth, which may be shaved off, he has a slight impediment in his speech ; dressed in dark clothes, and black bowler hat, tramps tue countiv. Absconded on 3rd instant, charged with stealing Watches entrusted to him to repair :- GEO KG E SMITH, a watch- maker, 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, inclined to sandy ; dressed in dark clo- hes, black felt hat, attends race meetings. Charged with having on 20th instant, stolen £ 1 in Gold, and about 10 or 12 Shillings in Silver, most of which are in two- shilling pieces, from a bed- room at the Granby Head p h , at Crowiand :— a tramping concertina player, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, round face, very pale complexion, no whiskers or moustache, and light hair ; dressed in checked coat and vest, worsted or cotton cord trousers, low stiff haf, coloured Rhirt, white collar, no tie and lace toots ; he is in p > ssession of a concertiua, which he carries in a dark giey bag, with strap, round his shoulder. Police Station, SPALDING, Lincolnshire.— Boiv- vreet, Novemb 23 Absconded, charged with larceny :— THOMAS GOOD- LAD, 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, mous- tache and whiskers. May be found in the company of betting men. Has friends at Oldberry, near Birmingham. Warrant issued. Information to the Director of Criminal Investigations, GREAT SCOTLAND YARD, S. W. — Metropolitan Po. ice, November 23. Absconded, 19th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing Securities to the value of £ 20,000: — JAMES DAVIS, Secretary at the London office of the London and San Francisco Batik ( Limited), late of Eletree House, Bridge- road, Battersea, and 11, Trinity road, Folkestone, 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, whskers, and moustache. £ 200 reward will be paid by the Direc ors of the above Bank to any person giving such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest of the accused. November 16 a man's black velvet Vest, a brown felt billycock Hat, arid a pair of Wellington Boots with square toes ; a Coat and a Vest, recovered. By a man, 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark complexion, and dark whiskers all round face; dressed in a dark blue overcoat, brown billycock hat, and welliDgton boots with square toes. Description of FREDERICK WOOTTON, a labourer, charged on a warrant with embezzlement, who absconded from Nursling, near Southampton, ou 14th instant:— he is about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fair com- plexion, hair cut short, little whiskers side of face ; dressed in an old tweed coat, cord trousers and vest, Cloth cap, old military boots, has a ballet girl tattooed on right arm, has been a soldier. Information to Mr. Supt. E. Kellaway, Hants Constabulary, ROMSEY. - Bow- street, November 21. Absconded on 22nd ultimo, charged on a warrant with larceny as a servant:— FREDERICK CHAPMAN, alias PRINCE, a printer's warehouseman, late of 17, Jamaica- street, Stepney, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches Ligb, dark brown hair, pale complexion, pockpitted, very little hair on face; dressed in dark clothes, and black hard felt hat. Information to Inspector McWilliam, Detective Department, City of London Police, 26, OLD JEWRY, LONDON, E. C.— Bow- street, November 19. Stolen at Maid well, during the night of 12th instant:— 2 coloured cottoD Shirts, and 1 white linen Shirt ; also 5 or 6 Pocket- handkerchiefs, one full size, the others children's size 3 of the latter and a pair of strong brown leather Gloves have since been found in an out- house about 3 miles from where they were stolen, and two tramps were seen to leave this out- house at 8 am. on morning of 13th instant, and subsequently traced toward Northampton. One of them is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, and was wearing a black cloth jacket and dark coloured trousers and vest. The other, from 20 to 22 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 ins. high, dark hair and complexion; dressed in dark clothes and cap, and was wearing clogs. Information to Mr. Supt. Botterell, KETTERING, or to Inspector Wallace, LITTLE BOWDEN, Northamptonshire.— Bow- street, November 19. CHARLES MOORE, advertised in Police Gazette of 7th January, 1881, charged on warrant with having stolen a silver lever Watch at Oswestry, was apprehended on 3rd inst. in Manchester, and on 12th he was committed fcr trial at the next quarter sessions for Oswestry :— he is a watchmaker, has been twice convicted of watch stealing at Manchester, he is about 45 years of r. ge, 5 feet 8 or 9 inchos high, dark com- plexion, hair, whiskers and moustache turning grey, shaved on chin, bald on fiont part of head, square saoulders, short neck, stoutly built, and a big wide no3e. Information to Supt. Gougb, OSWESTRY, Salop.— Bow- street, November 19. Wanted on a warrant for stealing a silver patent lever Watch, No. 6620. maker ' H. Samuel' on dial, and 6s. 9d. in Money, at Crumlin. on 26th ult.:— WILLIAM WREXHAM GILMORE, 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, rather stout build, fresh complexion, light brown bair, sandy beard on chin, swiDgs his arms when walking ; dressed in an old brown coat, daubed with paint, new white moleskin trousers and vest, hard black bowler hat, and lace- up nailed boots ; he is a painter, and has also been to sea, a native of West Bromwicb. Wanted on a warrant for stealing a Watch, since recovered, at Abercarne, on 21st June :— JOHN OPIE, a collier, 30 to 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, sallow complexion, light brown hair, little whiskers on sides of face, shaves chin aid upper lip, very slight build ; dressed in a suit of black cloth, hard bowler hat, and strong boats ; supposed to be a nativeof Dudley, about 12 months ago he resided at Bed- minster, Bristol, and has also worked at Couphilly ; he is accompanitd by his wife Margaret, who is 20 yearj of age, 5 feet high ; dressed in a brownish grey dress, brown water- proof, and a black straw hat, with yellow wreath ; she is in a state of pregnancy. Information to Mr. Supt. Whitfield, PONTYPOOL, Monmouth- shire.— Bow-; tnet, November 19. Wanted at Ipswich, charged on warrants with stealing a Piano and an American Organ, since recovered, the property of Messrs. Godball and Thurston, music sellers, & c. :— two men who gave the name of J. ROBINSON, & F. ROBERTS, their real names being GEORGE BUTCHER, and MURTON, alias ALEXANDER JONES :— Butcher is the son of an ex police officer, who formerly resided in Bury St. Edmunds, and may be found in the company of Alice Seeiy, suppoied to have been living at 32, Westmorland- road, Bays- water, London, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight moustache, light brown hair, fresh looking, thin build ; dressed in dark suit. Murton, alias Jones, is the son of a farmer residing at Somerton, Suffolk, about 26 years of age 5 feet 8 inches high, thin build, dark hair aud moustache ( believed to be false) ; sometimes wears a light, and at other times a dark suit. They loft Ipswich by the 1 30 p. m. traiD, on 6th instant, calling at Colchester, when there, one of the two obtained from Mr. Dace, an Harmonium, and they then proceeded by the 6" 47 p. m. train to Chelmsfnrd, and sold the instrument to Mr. Rippon iu that town, and left next day by the 12 47 p. m. train, going in the direction of London ; had with them a large black portmanteau, with the letters ' C. B.' upon it, and two carpet bags one a very long one ; obtained piano and orgau by hiring for a month, and paying hire in advance. Information to H. R. Russell, Lieut.- Col, Chief Constable, Town Hall, IPSWICH, Suffolk, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- s'. reet, November 16. Description of WALTER A. HINTON, baker, charged on a warrant with embezzlement, who absconded from Bir- mingham on 10th instant:— he is about 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, clean face, brown hair, and spare build ; dressed in black coat, grey trousers, low felt billyco ; k hat, and an old police overcoat. He has friends in the towns of Nottingham, Derby, and Kidderminster, also in America and Canada.^ Information to J. Farcdale, Chief Constable, BIRMINGHAM.— Bow- street, November 16. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Patricrof, between 11.45 p. m. 12th and 10 a. m. 13th instanta pair of men's black woollen ribbed Trousers, fly fronts, black iron buttons, 2 pockets front; a Vest of same material; a dark brown Coat, pocket on each side, lined with back lustre ; a pair of low Shoes ; a black hard pot Hat; a white turned down linen Collar ; a drab satin Necktie, red spots with a silver Pin. By a private'in the 1st Battalion West Riding Regiment, stationed at Halifax, Yorkshire, who was on, leave of absence from the 10th to 11.55 p. m. 12th instant, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, light brown hair, small light moustache, s'ender build ; he left the following articles of clothing behind him, a pair of trou ers, tunic, great coat," leather belt, wai3t belt and plate, a p* ir of elastic- side boats and a brovn tweed vest; no doubt he will be wearing the stolen property.
