DUBLIN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1883. ENGLISH POLICE. WANTED on a Bench Warrant, granted by the Judge at the Assizo Court, York Castle, on the 14th instant, charged with perjury, John Bagen or Baigen, a gamekeeper, late of Brompton, near Scarborough, in the North hiding of Yorkshire:— From 30 to 35 years of age, feet 6 or 7 inches high, slender build, sallow complexion, face very much freckled, auburn hair inclined to curl; sandy whiskers and moustache, downcast look, right shoulder up a little, hangs his head slightly down when walking, supposed to have been previously in tho service of the Earl of Wicklow ; dressed when he left hero on the 28th of September last Hi a gray tweed suit, same shape as generally worn by gamekoepcrs, black hard felt hat, and lace- up boots. This man has a wife and three children who followed him, and left here on the Ist October; wife about 30 years of ago, about 5 feet high, stout build, sallow complexion, speaks with an Irish accent r dressed in a gray or brown winsey dress, black cloth jacket, black and white plaid shawl, black straw hat trimmed with black velvet, and elastic side boots, lst child, a girl about G years of age, fair comploxion, brown hair, stout full face; dressed in a gray wineey dress, gjaiy Ulster, white straw hat Trimmer' with blue ribbon ami We- up boots. 2nd child, a boy 4 years Of age, light brown hair; dressed in a brown frock, gray Ulster coat, brown straw sailor hat with mixed verge, and lace boots. 3rd child, a boy 18 months old; wore a brown frock and black hood; wife carried him in her arms wrapped up in a black and white plaid shawl. Information to Mr. Superintendent SPENCE, North Biding Constabulary Office, Pickering; or to Inspector DOVE, County Police Office, Falsgrave, Scarborough, who holds a Warrant for his apprehen- sion. November 10 1883. ( 27408 M 50646.) £ 100 REWARD. WILFUL MCRDER. WHEREAS, at 5 40 A M. on Thursday, the 4th instant, the dead body of Jonas Bottomley, confectior. er, Keighley. was found lying, face downwards, on the canal side, near Monk Bridge Forge, in this borough, and on medical examination, there were found a lai- ge wound on the forehead and another on the back of the head. There was missing from his vest pocket ( supposed stolen) a medium- sized gold Geneva watch, silver gilt dial much worn, and flowered back also much worn. An inquest \ v « s held on the 18th instant, and a verdict of wilful murder returned against some person or persons unknown. Notice is hereby given that the above reward will l> e paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person i( othor than a person belonging to a Police force in the United Kingdom) who shall give such infor- . mation and ovidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead Jto a like result. WANTED for the murder of John Dukes, in Hill- street, Birmingham, on the night of the 5th August, 1883, Martin M'Gann and William Ryan :-- 1. Description of Martin M'Gann— About 21 years of age, 6 feet 0 or 7 inches high, hair brown, com- plexion fair, slightly freckled, proportionate build; cut scar on left cheek ; walks erect; speaks slowly, with an Irish accent. Dressed in a dark coat, brown trowsers, and silk handkerchief round his neck. Trade, wood button turner. 2. Description of William Ryan— Age 19, height 6 feet 6 or 7 inches, hair dark, complexion sallow, thin build. Dressed, when last seen, in a dark cuta- way coat and black greasy trowsers. Trade, a brass caster. The above- named men absconded from Birming- ham on the 25th August last, both having lived in Grosvenor- street, Lady wood, Birmingham, and are well known in Essington- street, Birmingham, where they formerly resided. A verdict of wilful murder against M'Gann and Ryan was returned by the Coroner's Jury at the in- quest, held • at Birmingham on the 13th September instant, and the Coroner has issued his Warrants for their apprehension. LICENCE- HOLDER, A 122, Samuel Anderson, alias John Hennessy or Murphy:— A painter, native of Maryboro,' 76 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, medium build, gray hair, gray eyes, sallow complexion, oval features, lost nearly all his teeth, convicted at Omagb, county Tyrone, 13th October, 1879, of larceny and previous conviction, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; liberated from H. M. Convict Prison, Mountjoy, 12th ultimo. On the 18th, ultimo he reported himself at Liverpool, and stated he was going to Manchester, but lias not reported himself there, and his present whereabouts is unknown. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. FRAUD OF £ 42. ^ WANTED here on a Sherriff's Warrant, charged with having, on She 2nd inst., fraudulently obtained £ 42 from Wyllie and Lochhead, Buchanan- street, Cameron M'Leod :— A clerk, between 45 and 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender made, thin face, sallow complexion, dark hair, dark moustache, no beard or whiskers; dressed in a small checked dark tweed jacket suit and dm'k tweed Ulster; smart appearance, carries a walking stick. He has a deep scar from bullet wound on right temple, and was a Paymaster Sergeant in 71st Regiment up till 1879. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found to arrest and wire to the subscriber, when an officer will be sent for him. WANTED here on a Sheriffs Warrant, charged with the embezzlement of £ 32, the property of his employer, Mr. W. A. Kinghorn, Commission Agent, No. 93, Hope- street, Douglas H. Lamb :— A clerk, native of London, about 23 years of age, 5 feet- 7 or 8 inches high, slender build, reddish fair hair, very slightfiir moustache, small side whiskers, a little shortsighted and usually wears eyeglasses; dressed in dark gray coat and vest, light tweed trowsers, and round felt hat, generally wears stand- up collars, and liad in his possession when he absconded a dark overeoat and yellow leather Gladstone bag; his mother, Mrs. M. A. E. Lamb, resides at No. 29. Dartmouth, Park- road, Highgate- road, London, N. W., and when in Glasgow he resided at 136, Stirling- road. Accused absconded on 1.6th instant, and before leaving spoke of going to Auckland, New Zealand. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found to arrest and wire to the subscriber, when an officer will be sent for him. ( 27127 M.— 50002v WANTED, for burglary at Holyhead on the 30th ultimo, William Patrick Reilly, Supervisee D 806 : — Age 28 years, height 5 feet 6^ inches, proportionate built, dai- k hair, gray eyes, two blue marks between leftthumband forefinger, marks offioggingonback, left ankle fractured, numerous scars on head and hands, and cut- mark on cheek; convicted at Beaumaris Assizes, 12th July, 1877, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' Police Supervision. DESCRIPTION of the undermentioned, who stands eharged with having stolen sundry sums of money, the property of the Guardians of the South Dublin Union, by whom he was employed as a Collector of Rates :— William Atkinson, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout build, brown hair, no whiskers, heavy brown moustache, round fresh face covered with blotches ; dressed respectably in dark clothos and tall silk hat. He was at one time Master of the South Dublin Union Workhouse, He was last seen here on Thursday, the 11th instant. DESCRIPTION of the undermentioned juvenile offender, who absconded on 20th instant, at about one o'clock, while proceeding to the Reformatory from Naas Prison :— Thomas Johnston, No. 204, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pretty stout make, sallow complexion, fair hair, gray eyes, nose a little turned up, round visage, heavy countenance, small mark of an old cut above right eye on forehead, and small wart on left side of upper lip, formerly belonged to Tralee, county Kerry; his parents are dead. The dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of cord trowsers, cord sleeved vest, jerry hat, strong nailed boots fastened by strap and buckle, and blaf cotton socks. The absconder is likely to enlist The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of John Mooney, native of Gortreighey, who stands charged with having, on the lst Novem- ber, 1883, in the barony of Kilconway, parish of Rasharkin, stolen from the dwelling- house of John Doherty, of Cushybrackin, three £ 1 notes, Nos. not known :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round'face, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 14 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray two- peaked cap, dark frock coat, dark trowsers and vest, much worn; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Bridget Gallagher ( mother's sur- name Gavigan), native of Ardara, who stands charged ' with having, on the night of the 4th or morning of the 5th November, 1883, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Lower Killybegs, destroyed her infant female child :— Good- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair ; is a small grocer. DESCRIPTION of a watch found on Hugh Williamson, who has been convicted of stealing another watch, at Belfast, on 26th September, 1883, and for which no owner can be found;— Silver Geneva watch, No. 79654, brass dome, cream and white face, has a second hand. DESCRIPTION of George Redmond, native . of Ferns, county Wexford, who stands charged, withtiaving. on the 24th October, 1883, in the barony of Kilma- crenan, parish of Conwal, escaped from Letterkenny Bridewell when awaiting his trial for larceny of clothing from the dwelling- house of George Brown, of Drumganty, county Tyrone :— Small tender eyes, slightly hooked nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, light brown hair, slight hairs growing on his jaws ; wore a tweed cap, old torn blue frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and old blue vest, had no boots or shirt on when he escaped; is a tramp ; states he was a sailor. DESCRIPTION of Joseph Conlan, junior, native of Clonegath, who, on the 6th Novemoer, 1883, in the barony of West Offaly, parish of Monasterevan, being of unsound mind, left for the fair of Athy, in charge of a jennet and cart ( both of which were found); he has not since been heard of, and it is feared he has met with foul play:— No hair on face, 6 feet high, 19 years of age; wore a soft black hat, frieze coat with velvet collar, and cord trowsers. The man, name and native place unknown, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, ( intimidation), not arrested. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of James Morrissey, native of Smiths- town, who stands charged with having, on the 29th September, 1883, at Mullinavat, in the barony of Knocktopher, parish of Kilbacon, seriously assaulted James Dollard, from the effects of which his life is in danger:— May have fresh cut- marks on right hand, gray eyes, straight nose, pale complexion, l^ iin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft black hat, black frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Morrissey ( mother's name Mary Cashin), native of Smithstown, who stands charged with having, on the 29th September, 1883, in a public house, at Mullinavat, in the barony of Knock- topher, parish of Kilbeacon, seriously assaulted James Dollard, by striking him on the forehead with a glass tumbler, from the effects of which his life is now in imminent danger, though he did not complain thereof until 16th Instant:— Has a cut ( which may be now healed) on the palm of right hand, from the effects of the tumbler breaking therein when striking Dollard, clean face without either beard or whiskers, gray or blue eyes, regalar nose, fttir complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 7 J inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer, and it is believed he left for America on 16th instant. DESCRIPTION of Walter Meally, native of Crutt, Castlecomer, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1883, in the barony of Fassidinnen, parish of Castlecomer, seriously assaulted John Ryan, of Moneenroe :— May have small blue marks on face, result of coal cuts ; hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, rather stout make, 5 feet 9J inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a soft cap, dark coat and trowsers; is a coal miner. DESCRIPTION of Mary Shanaghan and Patrick Shanaghan, natives of 2 Meath- street, Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 20th October, 1883, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen two shawls out of a draper's shop at Parsonstown :— 1. Wants an upper front tooth, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 4 feet 5 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark cloak and old dark dress; is a travelling gambler. 2. Marks of old cuts under right eye, large ears, brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, wiry medium make, 5 leet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair: wore a jerry hat, light coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a travelling gambler. NOTE.— There is no charge against Patrick Shanaghan ; he is husband to No. 1. Parsonstown, October 20, 1883. ( 60769 c.— 8162.) N. B. Mary Shanahan has been returned for trial to Quarter Sessions. It is requested that inquiry may be made about her, and if there is anything known against her, report should be made to the District Inspector, R. I. Constabulary, Parsonstown. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Faughnan ( mother's surname Hearon), native of Glosdrummon, who stands charged with having, on the night of 6th October, 1883, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Cloone, being one of a party who attacked the dwelling- house of1 John Boyle, of Edergole and seriously assaulted Boyle and his wife :— Wild gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft low hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmers son. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Molony, alias James Ryan, native of Castleconnell, who stailds charged with having, on the 26th October, 1883, in the barony of Coshma, parish offAdare, stolen from the residence of Patrick O'Donnell, of Islanden, the following articles of wearing apparel:— One brown tweed frock coat, one pair shepherd plaid trowsers and vest, and one pair * of shoes:— Smart appearance, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age; is a servant boy. DESCRIPTION of Samuel Purvis, alias Semple, who is supposed to have been taken from his home at Megargy, in the parish of Magherafelt, barony of Loughinshollin, and county of Londonderry, on the 27th September, 1883. He has not since been heard of:— About 14 years of age, 5 feet high, slight make, thin face, light blue eyes, regular nose, and pale complexion. Magherafelt, Nov. 1, 1883. ( 59629 c.— 6251.) DESCRIPTION of Ellen Maguire and Mary Hayden, natives of Longford, who stands charged with having, on the night pf the 10th or morning of the 11th September, 1883, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, absconded from the Longford Workhouse Fever Hospital ( they being pauper attendants on the sick therein), taking with them several articles of clothing, the property of the Guardians, vi2.:— 2 shifts, 2 woollen handkerchiefs, and 4 petticoats, marked with the brand of the Longford Union. ' 1. Marks of scrofula under chin, hazel eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 4 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair turning gray ; wore the union clothing; is a pauper. 2.
