WHEREAS, at 5 • 10, i. « . on Thursdaythe 4th instant, the dead, body of Jonas Bottomley, confectioner, Keighley, was found lying, face downwards, on the canal side, near Monk Bridge Forge, in this borough, an4pn medical examination, there were found a large wound on the forehead and another on the back of the head. There was missing from his vest pocket ( supposed stolen) , a , medium- sized gold Geneva watch, silver. gilt 4ial much worn, and flowered back also much worn. An inquest was held on the 18th instant, and a verdict of wilful murder returned against some person or persons unknown. Notice is hereby given that the above reward w, ill be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person -( other than a person belonging to a Police force, in the United Kingdom) who shall give such infor- mation and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not - being the person who actually' committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. W ANTED for the murder of John Dukes, in Hill- street, Birmingham, on the night of the 5th August, 1883, Martin M'Gann and William Ryan :— 1. Description of Martin M'Gann— About 21 years <> f age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, hair brawn, com- plexion fair, slightly freckled, proportionate build; cut scar on left cheek; walks erect; speaks slowly, with an Lish, accent Dressed in a dark coat, brown trowsers, and silk handkerchief round his neck. Trade, wood button turner. 2. Description of William Ryan— Age 19, height 6 feet 6 or 7 inches, hair dark, complexion sallow, thin build. Dressed, when last seen, in a dark cuta- way coat and black greasy trowsers. Trade, a brass caster. The above- named men absconded from Birming- ham on the 25th August last, both having lived in Grosvenor- street, Ladywood, Birmingham, and are well known in Essington- street, Birmingham, where " they fonnerly resided. A verdict of wilful murder H gainst M'Gann and Rvan was returned by the Coroner's Jury at the in- • quest, held at Birmingham on the 13th September instant, and the Coroner has issued his Warrants for their apprehension. WANTED here on a Sherriff's Warrant, charged with having, on the 2nd inst., fraudulently obtained £ 42 from Wyllie and Lochhead, Buchanan- street, Cameron M'Leod — A clerk, between 45 and50 years of age, 5 feet 8 ov 9 inches high, slender made, thiri. face, sallow complexion, dark hair, dark moustache, no beard or whiskers ; dressed in a small checked dark tweed jacket suit and dark tweed Ulster; smart appearance, carries a walking stick. He has a deep scar from bullet wound on right temple, and was a Paymaster Sergeant in 71st Regiment up till 1870. Police officers are requested to have particular search and inquiry made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found to arrest and wire to the subscriber, when an officer will be sent for him. WANTED here on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with the embezzlement of £ 32, theproperty of his employer, Mr. W. A. Kinghorn, Commission Agent, No. 93, Hope- street, Douglas H. Lamb :— A clerk, native of London, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slender build, reddish fair hair, very slight fair moustache, small side whiskers, a little shortsighted and usually wears eyeglasses; dressed in dark gray coat and vest, light tweed trowsers, and round felt hat, generally wears stand- up collars, and had in his possession when he absconded a dark overcoat and yellow leather Gladstone bag; his mother, Mrs. M. A. E. Lamb, resides at No. 29, Dartmouth, Park- road, Highgate- road, London, N. W., and when in Glasgow he resided at 136, Stirling- road. Accused absconded on 16th instant, and before leaving spoke of going to Auckland, New Zealand. DESCRIPTION of the undermentioned juvenile offender, who absconded on 20th instant, at about one o'clock, while proceeding to the Reformatory from Naas Prison:— Thomas Johnston, No. 204, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pretty stout make, sallow complexion, fair hair, gray eyes, nose a little turned up, round visage, heavy countenance, small mark of an old cut above right eye on forehead, and small wart on left side of upper lip, formerly belonged to Tralee, county Kerry; his parents are dead. The dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of cord trowsers, cord sleeved vest, jerry hat, strong nailed boots fastened by strap and buckle, and blay cotton socks. The absconder is likely to enlist The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tho expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of James Morrissey ( mother's name Mary Cashin), native of Smithstown, who staiyhy charged with having, on the 29th September, 1883, in a public house, at Mullinavat, in the barony of Knock- topher, parish of Kilbeacon, seriously assaulted James Dollard, by striking him on the forehead with a glass tumbler, from the effects of which his life is now in imminent danger, though he did not complain thereof until 16th instant:— Has a cut ( which may be now healed) on the palm of right hand, from the effects of the tumbler breaking therein when striking Dollard, clean face without either beard or whiskers, gray or blue eyes, regalar nose, fair complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer, and it is believed he left for America on 16th instant. DESCRIPTION of Walter Meally, native of Crutt, Castlecomer, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August. 1883, in the barony of Fassidinnen, parish of Castlecomer, seriously assaulted John Ryan, of Moneenroe :— May have small blue marks on face, result of coal cuts; hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, rather stout make, & feet inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a soft cap, dark coat and trowsers ; is a coal miner. Wants an upper front tooth, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 4 rfeet ." » inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair;, wore a dark cloak and old dark dress; is a travelling gambler. 2. Marks of old cuts under right eye, large ears, brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, wiry medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a jerry bat, light coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a travelling gambler. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Faughnan ( mother's surname Hearon), native of Glosdrummon, who stands charged with having, on the night of 6th October, 1883, in the barony of Mohill, parish of Cloone, being one of a party who attacked the dwelling- house of John Boyle, of Edergote and seriously assaulted Boyle and his wife:— Wild gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair ; wore a soft low hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmers son. DESCRIPTION of John Mooney, native of Gortreighey, who stands charged with having, on the 1st Novem- ber, 1883, in the barony of Kilconway, parish of Rasharkin, stolen from the dwelling- house of John Doherty, of Cushybrackin, three £ 1 notes, Nos. not known:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 14 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray two- peaked cap, dark frock coat, dark trowsers and vest, much worn ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of James M'Gregor ( mother's surname Stephenson), native of Tavnaghdrissagh, parish of Layd, county Antrim, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1883, in the barony of Lower Glenarm, parish of Tickmacreevan, stolen from the person of John M'Callion a silver lever watch, cream colour dial, No. 20,049, maker James Orr, Ballymena ;— Dark eyes, long nose, dark com- plexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair, wore all his beard which is dark, black moustache; wore a velvet cap, dark frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a miller, sometimes works in iron foundry. DESCRIPTION of George Redmond, native of Ferns, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the 24th October, 1883, in the barony of Kilma- crenan, parish of Conwal, escaped from Letterkenny Bridewell when awaiting his trial for larceny of clothing from the dwelling- house of George Brown, of Drumganty, county Tyrone :— Small tender eyes, slightly hooked nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, light brown hair, slight hairs growing on his jaws ; wore a tweed cap, old torn blue frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and old blue vest, had no boots or shirt on when he escaped; is a tramp ; states he was a sailor. DESCRIPTION of John Ryan, native of Thurles, county Tipperary, who is in custody, charged with having, on the 23rd of October, 1883, in the barony of Newry, parish of Newry, stolen a gold watch and cbain, and who may have committed offences elsewhere:— Prominent under lip, and narrow chin, very delicate appearance, dark full eyes, long nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a jerry bat, brown waterproof coat brown trowsers, and blue vest; is a servant. The three heifers belonging to Margaret Fitzgerald, and described in the Hue and- Cry of the 16th ultimo, have been recovered. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Maguire and Mary Hayden, natives of Longford, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 10th or morning of the 11th September, 1888, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, absconded from the Longford Workhouse Fever Hospital ( they being pauper attendants on the sick therein), taking with them several article9 of clothing, the property of the Guardians, via.:— 9 shifts, 2 woollen handkerchiefs, and 4 petticoats, marked with the brand of the Longford Union. 1. Marks of scrofula under chin, hazel eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 4 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair turning gray; wore the union clothing; is a pauper. 9. Dark eyes, regular nose, sallow completion, regular face, slight make, 4 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, brown hair; wore the union clothing; is a pauper. Longford, Sep. 13, 1883.
