( 20859 m 19552.) WILFUL MURDER. .£ 100 REWARD. WHEREAS, the Coroner's Jury, on the 18th inst, found a verdict of wilful murder against Harry Hammond Swindells, for having, on the 16th inst., caused the death of James Wild, by shooting him • with a revolver. A reward of £ 100 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person, other than a person belonging to a Police Force in the United Kingdom, who will give such information as shall lead to the discovery of the Murderer. He is 49 years of age, 5 feet 3| inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, moustache and beard American fashion, whiskers shaved off, dark blue eyes, Roman nose with blue mark on the bridge, high cheek bones, large mouth, has only one or two teeth in upper jaw, scar on right side of neck, little finger of right hand crooked, walks with a swinging gait; dressed in a black ribbed double breasted worsted slack back jacket ( the right shoulder and arm of which may beurttices of I i me wash), trowsers and vest • of same material, new black soft billycock hat with hft- ge brim, new spring side boots with square toes; be formerly was steward in the service ot the Allan Line Co., working between Liverpool and New York; is well known at the Liverpool docks; will no doubt endeavour to escape to America. Information to be given to the Chief Constable. DESCRIPTION of Richard Coultate, wanted by Warrant for embezzling £ 100, the moneys of his employers:— He is 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, round full face, light- brown hair, moustache and side whiskers, shaved on chin, stout build, broad shoulders, walks very erect and with a quick step, speaks rather sharps dressed CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. HOUSEBREAKING AND THEFT. WANTED on a Sheriff's Warrant for having, on 24th July current, broken into asliut- up house in the west end of the city, by means of forcing a window on the ground floor, and stealing a large quantity of goods, all recovered, Robert Stirling, aiias Johnston, riches high, dark, brown hair, bare luoe, iYe » h c > m- plexion, peculiar look about eyes, which are weak, right arm rather stiff; dressed in dark gray tweed jackct suit and round felt hat; is a cabinet maker to trade, but has not wrought for along time:— Has been convicted several times before the Sheriff Court here, the last occasion being 9th August; 1882, when he was sentenced to 8 months' imprisonment for theft. Accused was arrested at the time by the Poiice, but after one night's detention in the lock- up made his escape, and as considerable interest is attached to the housebreaking, it is specially requested that officers will do their utmost in searching for accused, and to have him arrested. PARTICULARS relative to English Convict John M'Gowan, D 1189, convicted in Leicester, at Assizes, on 1st November, 1879, for manslaughter; anil sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 70 years of age on conviction, widower, is a labourer, born in Mayo, resided before conviction in Chapel- en- frith ; gray hair, light blue eyes, fresh complexion, round visage, short stout make, 5 feet 2f inches high, scar on crown, right side of chest, and right side of belly, large round scar on front of right shoulder; venesection marks on both arms. Thi3 man left London the 30th June, 1883, for Sligo, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, July 25, 1883. ( 26735 m.— 49325.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. PARTICULARS relative to English convict Patrick Lynch, C 1023, convicted in Omagh, county Tyrone, on 11th October, 1876, for subsequent felony, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 23 years of age on conviction, single, is a tailor, born in Boyle, resided before conviction in Tunstall, Staffordshire, his friends reside in Boyle, county Roscommon ; dark brown hair, blue eyes, dark complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, two cuts on crown, one on back of head, small scar above right eyebrow, two blue marks below left elbow, burn scar top of shoulder, blue tattoo marks above wrist, scar on small of back outside buttock, scar on back of right shoulder, four vaccination marks on left arm, scars on right hip, on right thigh and on right shin, 5 feet I j inches high. .. This man was released from Dartmoor Prison on 10th April, 1883, and reported himself on the 12th of same month to the Police at Dublin, on the 13th April he reported himself at Naas, on the 16th April at Athlonc, on the 22nd April at Boyle, from whence he went on the same date to Mohill, county. Lei trim, but he has not reported himself at th « latter place, and his present whereabouts are unknown. DESCRIPTION of Michael Smith, native of Bruskey, who stands charged with having, at about nine o'clock P. M., on the 7th August, 1883, in the barony of CLon- mahon, parish of Ballintemple, feloniously stabbed Edward Smith on public road, near townland of Bruskey, thereby endangering his life :— Old cut- mark over one eye, gray or blue eyes, long nose, dark freckled complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; had side whiskers and moustache ; had chin shaved. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Rose ( mother's surname Hannon), native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having, on tho 31st July, 1883, failed and neglected to appear at Passage West Petty Sessions, to prosecuto lier deposition in a rape case, as bound by recognizance to do :— Regular nose, fresh com- plexiun, regular face., medium make, about 5 feet 4 inches high, about 30 years of age, light brown hair ; wore an old grayish shawl, grayish petticoat, braided with red from knees down, and an old black silk body; speaks with Limerick accent. The Con- stabulary at Passage West hold a Warrant for her arrest, and in the event of her being found it is re- quested that the Head Constable there be telegraphed to, so that the Warrant may be sent on with a man who can identify her. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 8th of July, 1883, at Tuam, in the barony of Dunmore, parish of Tuam, stolen a jennet, the property of John Darcy, of Tuam, and offered it for sale on his way from Tuam to Williamstown, Galway, E. R., in which direction he then pro- ceeded :— Brown moustache and shaved chin, long face, slender make, 5 feet 0 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard jerry hat, blue pilot old frock coat, corduroy trowsers, and moleskin vest; military highlow boots; is a tramp, looks like a tinker. DESCRIPTION of James Hardy, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1883, in the barony of Glenarough, parish of Kenmare, absconded with five watches given to him for repair, with a felonious intent of converting them to his own use:— Large drooping moustache, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 8^ inches high, about 35 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, rather worn ; is an itinerant watchmaker. Description of the watches :— 1. Silver lever watch, marked on centre of dial, Railway timepiece, supposed No. 21118, maker Sewel, Liverpool; value £ 4. 2. Silver watch, flint dial, No. unknown ; value £ 5. 3. Silver Geneva watch, No. 84357 ; value £ 3. 4. Gold watch, owner's name, Eliza O'Brien, scratched inside cover, No. unknown ; value £ 4 10..-. 5. A silver cream jug, chased crest, castellated tower, had either three or four feet, about half an inch high. 2. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Hosey, native of Edenderry, who stands charged with having, on the 29th July, 1883, in the barony of Lune, parish of Killaconnigan, broken into the dwelling- house of Michael Browne, of Donore, with intent to commit a felony therein :— Old cut on upper lip and bridge of nose, gray eyes, flat nose, fair complexion, small face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a hard black hat, tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; all the clothing much worn; is a tramping tailor. This man has been committed for trial to Trim Quarter Sessions, to be held on 13th November, 1883, and may have committed crime elsewhere. Athboy, August 6, 1883. " DESCRIPTION of Edward Tobin ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Doonane, who stands charged with having, on the 21st July, 1883, at Clonbrock, in the barony of Sleevemargry, parish of Killabban, seriously assaulted John Mulhall, by striking him with an iron bar on the head, from the effects of which his life is in danger:— Hazel eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age; wore a soft hat, dark tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a miner. DESCRIPTION of Thomas M'Keon, native of Athlone, who stands charged with having, on the 17th June, 1883, in the barony of Moycame, parish of Creagh, made his escape from the Lunatic Asylum, where he had been committed as a dangerous lunatic, and is now at large :— right foot clubbed, gray eyes, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 45 years of age, gray hair; wore a tweed cap, friezo coat, corduroy trowsers, and frieze vest, which aro the Asylum clothes ; is a tailor. DESCRIPTION of John Brennan, native of Kilross, who stands charged with having, on the 31st July, 1883, in the barony of Tirerrill, parish of Kilross, committed an indecent assault on Bridget Benson :— Slightly bowed legs, dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft bat, blue serge coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Edward Scott ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. William Gordon ( entering a dwelling- house, and committing an assault on the inmates), not arrested ; see Hue- and- Cry of 9th and 12th January, 1883. Tipperary. DESCRIPTION of Julia Comerford, native of Irby, Boscrea, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd July, 1883, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish of Roscrea, abandoned her infant child, thereby exposing, its life to danger :— Is cheerful looking, brown eyes, regular nose, fair freckled complexion, thin face medium make, 5 feet high, about 23 years of age, red hair; wore a green shawl; is a servant. N of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August. 1883, in the barony of Clonlonan, parish of Kilcleagh, deserted a male infant child, and left it on the side of the public road, tied up in a piece of canvas:— Wore all his beard which is thin and light, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 0 inches high, about 35 yeais of age, fair hair; wore a low black hat, old light tweed coat, and old snuff coloured trowsers; supposed to be a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Washington, native of Old Ross, who stands charged with having, on the 21st day of May, 1883, in the barony of Bantry, parish of Old Ross, committed a rape upon Mary Jane Whitney, of Old Ross:— Supposed to have cut marks on face, blue eyes, regular nose flat at top, sandy complexion, roupd face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair; is a labourer.
