Notlc*.— It i> requested that all communication* for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all application* in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addremed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. G. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably eecessary that MI information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the OfEonce charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge i* made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, ail Letters addressed to the Editor UtftlBtt be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Description* of Deserters from the Army, and ol Absentees and Deserter* from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for intertion in the POLIOS GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must itate clearly:—( 1) The • mount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 8). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by tae persons forwarding thom. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of the offender. Stolen by means of housebreaking on 6th instant, from a cottage at 3wallow's LaDe, West Griuotead :— a wash- leather Purse with the fastening broken, containing £ 24 18s. in Gold and Silver; and a bunch of eight Keys on a ring. Tramps are suspected :— 1st, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, daik hair aud whiskers, holds down his head, round shoulders ; dressed in old grey mixture suit, and dirty appearance. 2nd, a boy about 14 yrs. of age ; dressed in a dark jacket, pocket on side, and bill> cock hat; carried an umbrella, atd was accompanied by a black and white pocdle dog. Stolen at Hove, by means of housebreaking, between 9 and ) 0 p. m. on 4th instant .— a small silvrr Geneva Watch, enamelled faw, on the dome is engraved ' Millkirby, 1864'; and a gold Neck- chain, snake pattern, with gold Seal, Key and small gold Locket attached ; also a small ivory handle Knife. Stolen bv means of housebreaking, at Pensnett, between 12 noon and 1 p. m. on 27th ultimo;— a silver Geneva Watch, No. 73599, marked on face and on inside case ' Ex- hibition Prize Medal,' white dial, stael fingers and seconds hand, has a small piece cut out of inside case to allow the winding wheel to work, has a long German Silver Guard attached. Stolen by means of burglary at Tewkesbury, cn 26th ult., from the ' Bell aud Bowling Green' public- house, :— a wicker Plato Basket, lined with green baize, containing 26 Dessert Folks, marked ' African C. C. & S. Silverine'; 2") ditto, ' Bell atd Bowling Green' and letter ' B.' in centre; 12 d tto, ' F.'; 3 ditto, 1G. B.': 1 large Fork, ' F.'; 2 Desert Spoons, • F.'; 1 ditto and 3 Tea Spoon, ' Bell and Bowling G; eeu'; 5 Tea Spoons, not marked; and 3 Sauce Ladles, ' Bell and Bowling Green.' On 28th ultimo, 3 Forks, marked • F.,' and 3 ditto, ' G. B.,' were offered for wale at Woiceater, by a tramping woman, who was at once apprehended, when she gave her name as SARAH WRIGHT, native of Bridge- water, Somerset:— she is 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high brown hair curled on forehead, grey eyes, aid mole on right side of mouth ; dressed in an old red coloured polonais", made out of a shawl, old black dress, and white straw hat trimmed with black feather. States she was asked by a man, dressed in dark clothes, in Worcester, to sell the Forks for him, and that he had other forks in his possession. Information to Mr. Supt. Description of a man who called at stables ic Blackpool, about 9.30 a. m. 28th ultimo, and hired a Grey Mare for an hour, about 13 hards 3 inches high, 10 \ o 12 years old, capped on both hock?, tail rather long, cut squari, has on 3 new shoes and 1 old one, o'd sore marks ou both, shoulders, and a little loose hair on legs ; an army saddle with brass on front and back, and an old bridle with new face piece and snaffle bit, with which he has not" yet returned :— about 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion; dressed in round dark jacket, brown tweed trousers, arid bard bUck billycock hat. Charged with stealing at Bishops Waltbam aud neigh- bourhood, a nuuibtr of Watches ( recovered):— GEORGE BENNETT, 34 years of ago, 5 feet 5f inches high, fair hair, gr>- y eyes, fair complexion, proportionate build, oval features, inoie >'< ght corner of mouth, left side of forehead, scar outside light car ; dressed iu hard black felt hat, and snuff- coloured suit, is a watchmaker, is very much addicted to drink ; is a licence- holder, born iu Birmingham, was convicted at Kent Sessions, Maidjtone, 5 Apiil, 1877, sentenced to 7 3 ears p s , and 3 years p. s>., his address then was TIoo, near Maidstone. Abecnded from Newmaiket on 10th ultimo, charged cu a warrant with embezzlement:— JAMES JEFFERY, 18 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, very fresh com- plexion, and light brown hair; dressed iu light tweed coat, light cord trousers, with a large patch on the seat, hard black hat, and lace- up boots. He bus been employed at the White Hart Hotel as parcel porter. Information to Mr. Supt. Glasier, MILDENHALL, or to Inspector Payne, Suffolk Consta- bulary, NEWMARKET.— Bow- street, August 10. Absconded on 8th instant at 6 a. m., from Derryhill, charged with stealing a silver lever Watch, number cot known, no glass in it, long hand broken or missing, has the name ' Skreen White' scratched on the inside of case, and a pair of elastic side Boots, man's size:— a lad about 15 years of age, very light complexion, light hair, has the fingers of one hand cut across, just above the nails; dressed in a hard black bowler hat, old light coat and trousers, and elastic- side boots. Took with him a bundle containing a light coat and trousers, may be wearing the last- mentioned clothes. Stated he belonged to London, and was going to Bristol, where he had two brothers working in a printing office. Information to Mr. Supt Barrett, CHIPPENHAM.— Bow- street, August 10. Absconded, 11th nit., charged with stealing £ 1 8s. lid, from the Windham Club, St. Jauies's- square, where he was porter:— ROBERT MORINE, 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 ins. high, fair complexion, hair and slight moustache brown, eyes hazel, aud large scar on chin ; dnsesed in brown tweed ouit and jblack felt hat. Has served in 2nd Life Guards, from which he purchased his discharge on 19th January. 1877. A uative of Dairy, Kirkcudbright, and is known in Edinburgh aud Glasgow. Warrant issued.
