STOLEN, from a dwelling- house in this borough, between tho 23rd and 26tli instants, one diamond ring, sot in plain gold setting, and oblong shape; one plain gold ring, with white stone; one gold watch key, with a seal set on a swivel in the handle, with a green and spotted stone; two gold seals ; two silver pencil eases; one Queen Anne silver teapot; ono wine strainer; one punch ladle ; one fisli slice; ono dozen each of large silver forks and spoons, fiddle pattern, all marked with the letter " B" in Old English on tho handles; also a gent's dark mixture coat, with small white spots run ling through, dark bone buttons with a light spot o: them, one pocket inside left breast, and two in laps behind. STOLEN, from a dwelling- house in this borough, between tho 2nd and 27tli instants, a white alabaster framed mantle piece ^ clock, about .18 inches high, standing on black wood . frame, about, .14 inches ion& nnd an oblong glass shade. M. on Tuesday, the 15th inst., stealing £ 1,300, the moneys of his employers, merchants, in this city, Semmy J. Blumlein :— A clerk; lie is about 19 years of age, but looks much older, 5 feet 7$ or 8 inchcs high, proportionately built, black liair, dark moustache, no beard, oval features, sallow complexion, walks with a swinging gait; wore when last seen a dark cloth cutaway coat, dark trowsers, anil black billycock hat. He is a German, and belongs to Frankfort- on- the- Maine, but speaks French and English, and has been in America. Tho money consisted of £ 400 in gold; one £ 500 Bank of England note, dated Liverpool, 28tli March, 1881, No. 58,435 ; and eight £ 50 Bank of England notes, dated Liverpool, 24th March, 1881, Nos. 37,258 to 37,265 inclusive. He will endeavour to go abroad. Please cause every possiblo inquiry to be made at hotels, shipping offices, on board of outward- bound vessels, and all other likely places, and if found arrest, or if traced telegraph to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. FAILED to report his change of residence, licence holder, G 408, Henry Jackson, alias Robert Nally, a groom, native of Dublin, 29 years of age, 5 feet 7} inches high, stout build, brown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, round features, scar on right elbow joint, fiat- footed, fifth toe of each foot overlaps fourth, convicted at Liverpool Sessions, 17th April, 1880, of being in possession of counterfeit coin, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; released from ller Majesty's Convict Prison, Portsmouth, 15th March, 1883, on licence. He was previously convicted at Dublin, 4th February, 1879, of larceny, and sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. Information to GEORgE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent, Detective Department, Liverpool. April 18, 1883. ( 26121 M.— 48236.) SCOTTISH POLICE. CiTY OF GLASGOW POLICE. FORGERY OF BASK NOTES. THE person after described is wanted here for having, on 25th inst., in different shops in the eastern district of the city, uttered several forged £ 1 notes of the Royal Bank of Scotland :— A man, from 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark brown hair, bare face, which is red and blotched, very small nose, and stout made; dressed in a black shabby frock coat bound with very broad black braid, and black satin hat. Had a dissipated and broken- down appearance, and spoke with a Scotch accent. The forged notes are all numbered MJ51, and dated 1st July, 1882, ancl have the words " Promise to pay to James Wright or the Bearer" engraved on the body of them, whereas the genuine Royal Bank Notes presently ill circulation have only the words " Promise to pay on demand, to the Bearer," and the name " James Wright" omitted. — » Bankers, shopkeepers, police officers,- and others are requested to be on the alert, and should any clue or information be obtained, to communicate at once with the subscriber, or local police, at the nearest police station. WANTED here on a Sheriffs Warrant, charged with the embezzlement of £ 50, the property of A. Jollie, Junior, and Co., Curriers and Leather Merchants, at 51, Great Hamilton- street, in whose employment he was as a traveller, Harry M. Brown— About 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair and complexion, very slight dark moustache, no beard or whiskers; dressed in a dark corded jacket and vest, light tweed trowsers, and felt hat, he may be carrying a Newmarket coat; he resided at 122, North Frederick- strect. Accused absconded on 3rd instant, taking the 2 30 P. M. train on same date for London, with the intention of going to Africa. Police Officers are requested to make the necessary search and inquiry for accused at shipping offices, hotels, & c., and should he be arrested or traced communicate with A. M'CALL, Chief Constable. Glasgow, May 11. 1883. \ Licence- holder, John Kelly, Reg. No. 639, lias not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1883. Licence- holder, Philip Doyle, 14,738, has not been arrested; Hue- and- Ciy, 7th November, 1882. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. THEFT OF £ 135. WANTED here, on a Sheriffs Warrant, charged with the theft of £ 135 which he received yesterday, 10th inst., within the office of his employers, Messrs. Cowan and Douglas, Brass Founders, at 11 and 13, Hydepark- street, for the purpose of banking, but with which he absconded, Samuel C. Birchwood:— A clerk, about 32 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair which is very curly, fair moustache, very slight sandy whiskers and beard, thin face, fresh complexion, full eyes and pleasant- looking, dressed in a black corded walking coat with pockets behind, and vest of same material, supposed to be wearing grayish trowsers and felt hat. A native of Manchester, and speaks with slight English accent, is marriej and resided at 4; Blackie- street, Overnewton. A has got the money in his possession, and will probably leave the country. Police Officers are requested to have the necessary search made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and likely places, and should he be arrested or traced, communicate with A. M'CALL, Chief Constable. Glasgow, May 11, 1883. WELSH POLICE. WILLIAM BOLTER, a tramping shoemaker, a native of Kington, Herefordshire, charged with burglary, at Gladestry, Radnorshire, on the nigbt of the 4tli September," 1880, has been arrested, and committed to take his trial at the next Assizes for Radnor, at Presteign. ( For description see Hue- and- Cry, 1st August, 1882, also Police Gazette of 28th instant, & c.) The watch stolen has not been recovered. De- scription :— An English silver lever watch, No. 1,577, second hand on dial, " J. V." engraved on inside case, main spring supposed broken, with silk chain and gold key in shape of pistol attached.. Please cause every possible inquiry. at pawnbrokers- and watchmakers. Information to Chief, Constable PENYBOUT, or to Sergeant THOMAS, New Radnor, Radnorshire. ( 26359 M.— 486.79.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 7th May, 1883, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School at Dublin:— William Williams, No. 203, about 14 years of age, 4 feet 2 inches high, stout make, walks badly, very fresh complexion, very fair hair, gray eyes, small nose, round visage, small mole on left side of forehead, tattoos of Indian ink on one of his arms, formerly belonged to Knockadaragh, county Limerick, where his parents reside. The school dress consists of bad old gray frieze jacket, light cord trowsers, cord vest, nailed boots fastened by straps and buckles, old black jerry cap, new blay calico shirt well stamped, and blay cotton socks. This boy was on Burgli- quay on Tuesday morning, 8th instant; he changed his jacket and hat; knows nothing of the city, and must therefore wander about and beg for his living till arrested. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Mary Egan, 24Q8, convicted in the county of the city of Dublin, at the Commission, on 4th June, 1878, for felony of three coats, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 65 vears of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, widow, is a dealer, was born in Limerick, resided before conviction in Dublin, her friends reside at Limerick; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, niouth, fresh THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JUNE 1, 1883. This convict was discharged from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 20th November, 1882, and went to Dublin. She left her residence, 91, Coombe, without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and her present whereabouts are unknown. DESCRUTION of Bernard M'Parland ( mother's surname M'Connell), native of Ballard, who stands charged with having, on the night of 8tli or morning of 0th May, 1883, in the barony of Upper Orier, parish of Forkhill, stolen three sheep and seven lambs, the property of Bernard Devlin, of Carrickna- galliagh, and sold them at the fair of Shercock, county Cavan, where they have been found:— Gray oyos, cocked nose, dark complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feot 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, may work as a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Maguire ( mother's sur- name Smith), native of Carran, who stands charged with having, on the 26th day of May, 1883, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Denn, seriously assaulted Anno Reilly, at Tullytrean, thereby en- dangering her life:— May have a mark on forehead where ho was struck with a key; gray eyes, somewhat inflamed looking, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 40 years of age, fair or reddish hair; wore either a cap or low hat, black cloth coat, cordmoy trowsers, and moleskin or black vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of the following articles, which were stolon out of the dwelling- house of Patrick Hynes, of Noughaville, barony of Barren, parish of Nougha- ville, on the morning of the 3rd of May, 1883, viz.:— A black cashmere dress ; a black Russell cord dress; a red crochet worked worsted pettycoat; a pair of women's laced boots, small piece of leather cui both heels, mended on soles with gutta percha ; a small box containing one set of bog oak earrings and brooch ( shamrock pattern); a set of silver ear- rings and brooch ( fern pattern); a necklet and braco!< t of white shells; all value for about £ 2 sterling. DESCRIPTION of Willi attempted to rob one Robert Connor, of Crooksling, on the public road at Slade:— Blue eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair; wore a round, hat, short tweed jacket, and moleskin trowsers ; is a labourer. A Warrant is in the hands of tho Constabulary at Brittas for arrest of the accused. Lucan, May 24* 1883. ( 57642 c.— 7043.) DESCRIPTION of three heifers and one bullock, yearlings, the property of Richard Mayberry, which were stolen from off the lands of Caher East, parish of Kenmare, and barony of Glenarough, on the night of 15th or morning of lOtli May, 1883 :— 1. Heifer, colour red, little white along one side of flank, in good condition. 2. Heifer, colour red, good condition. 3. Heifer, colour black and white, portion of head and neck stripped from the weather, fair condition. 4. Bullock, colour red. The animals were value for about £ 7 each. Kenmare, May 28, 1883. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th May, 1883, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, at Dublin:— Thomas Johnston, No. 204, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout make, pale complexion, fair hair, gray eyes, slightly turned up nose, round visage, heavy brows; small mark of cut above right eye on forehead; formerly belonged to Tralee, county Kerry, and his parents are dead. The school dress consists of cord trowsers, cord sleeved vest, blucher boots nailed, and fastened by strap and buckle; had no jacket on him when he left. This boy is very fond of the army, and may try to enlist. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. Mayo. • DESCRIPTION of Michael Flynn, native of Tip- perary, who stands charged with having, on the 24th January, 1883, at Ballaghaderreen, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilcolman, assaulted Sub- Constable John Connell and Sub- Constable Thadeus Higgins, in the execution of their duty, and was admitted to bail, but failed to attend at Ballaghaderreen Petty Sessions, held on 12th February, 1883:— Cut mark over left eye, black eyes, straight nose, dark com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair; wore a round hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a carpenter. DESCRIPTION of Fanny Donohoe, native of Ross, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd May, 1883, in the barony of Fore, parish of Killeagli, stolen a cow, the property of her brother, James Somerville, of Ross:— Stoppage in speech, brown eyes, long Roman nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown felt hat, turned up in front, trimmed with red and brown satin, blue flowers in one side; black dress, trimmed with red stuff; a white cloth jacket, and dark gray Ulster with two rows of buttons in front; or may wear a navy blue dress and black shawl. Description of the cow :— A low- sized milch cow, five weeks after calving, brown with white spots, white stripe across shoulder, white star on forehead, some warts on two hind spins, homs large but curving nicely, letters " J. DESCRIPTION of James Little, native of Dollards- town, who stands charged with having, on the 11 th April, 1883, in the barony of Skreen, parish of Tara, stolen, £ 23, in notes and gold, from his. employer, Richard Wilkinson, of Castleboy:— Gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, full fat face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a brown hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. DESCRIPTION of Terrence M'Eneany, native of Knocknagarnamon, who, on the 17th of April, 1883, in the barony of Farney, parish of Enniskeen, left the house of James Plunkett, of Miskishmore, and has not since been heard of, and it is feared some harm has befallen him :— Stooped shoulders, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, broad lace, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 70 years of age, gray hair and whiskers; wore a jerry hat, old gray frieze coat, corduroy trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Anthony Hale, native of Bally- ogan, who stands charged with having, on the Sind or 3rd April, 1883, in the barony of Tireragh, parish of Castleconnor, stolen a heifer ( since found), the property of John Timlin, ol Corballa, in said parish:— Face swelled under jaws, black side whiskers turning gray, gray eyes, large thick nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet. 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a round soft hat, dark frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a farmer. Garrett Burns, Maurice Harding, and Garrett Cussen ( being three of an armed party who attacked a dwelling- house), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th March, 1883. Tyrone. DESCRIPTION of Charles M'Dermott native of Strabane, who stands charged with having, on the lGth April, 1883, in the barony of Upper Strabane, parish of Upper Badoncy, obtained a heifer by false protonces, and afterwards selling same in the fair of Plumbridge, and absconding with the amount:— Three warts under right ear adjoining cheek bone, the result of evil, shuffling swaggering gait when walking ; largo wild gray eyes, regular nose, pale yellow com- plexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 30 or 33 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face; woro a milky white hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest, greasy looking and shabby; is a low cattle dealer. A Warrant in the hands of the Constabu- lary of this district for his arrest; the Constabulary should not arrest this offender without the Warrant. Newtownstewart, April 19, 1883.( 58004 c.— 5063.) DESCRIPTION a watch, the property of Edmond Power, which was stolen from his house at Dungarvan, barony of Decies- without- Drum, and parish of Dungarvan, on the 28tli of April, 1883:— A gold chronometer double- cased watch, small dent in front case, the word " chronometer" engraved on the back case ; cost £ 150, value now for about £ 50 ; makers, Barnshaw, London. There was a gold Albert chain and two silver chains, value for about £ 15, attached to the watch, which were also taken. Dungarvan, May 12, 1883. Westmeath. The man, name and native place unknown ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. Wexford. DESCRIPTION of James Tapley, native of Ballingarry Upper, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 15th or morning of 16th May, 1883, in the barony of Gorey, parish of Kilnahue, stolen a colt, the property of his father, Henry Tapley:— High shoulders, turns in his toes when walking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7| inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a servant boy. The colt has been recovered. Tapley was last seen near Wicklow, and will probably try to escape to Liverpool. Gorey, May 19, 1883. ( 57621 c.— 7009.) DESCRIPTION of William Kelly, native of Red Bog, who stands charged with having, on the 80th April, 1883, in the barony of Shelmalier West, parish of Whitechurch Glynn, stolen a sheep, the property of Michael Kehoe, off the lands of Lambstown Great, and sold it at the fair of Taghmon, on 2nd May, 1883, after which he absconded :— Slovenly slouching gait, wears short side whiskers, rest of face shaved, dark eyes, rather hooked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm servant. The sheep has been recovered. Wexford, May 5, 1883. ( 57545 c.— 6893.) Wicklow. Bridget Flynn ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown, ( robbery of money), described in Hue- and- Cry of 2nd March, 1883, has not been arrested. HABITUAL CRIMINALS UNDER POLICE SUPERVISION Who have not reported themselves, as required by " The Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871," and who are liable, on conviction, to 12 months' Imprisonment. I. S'' b- lnspectors are to report without delay to " The Office for Registration of Habitual Criminals, Dublin Castle," the Names and Descriptions o; all x> ersons under Supervision reporting themselves in their respective Districts.
