INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. Wanted for having, on 25th ultimo, in Glasgow, uttered several forged £ 1 Notes of the Royal Bank of Scotland :— a man, from 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark brown hair, bare face, which is red and blotched, very small nose, and stoutly made ; dressed in a black shabby frock coat, bound with very broad black braid, and black satin hat. Had a dissipated and broken- down appearance, and spoke with a Scotch accent. The forged Notes are all numbered ' M 671 695', and dated ' 1st July, 1882,' and have the words ' Promise to pay to James Wright or the Bearer,' engraved on the body of them, whereas the genuine Royal Bank Notes at present in circulation have only the words ' Promise to pay on demand to the Bearer,' and the name ' James Wright' omitted. Bankers, shopkeepers, police officers, and others, are requested to be on the alert, and should any clue or information be obtained, to communicate at once with the Subscriber, or Local Police, at the nearest Police Station. Absconded, 26th ultimo, charged on a warrant with Forgery, and stealing £ 200 in Gold:— JAMES KER, late of 31, Dalberg Road, Brixton, Secretary of the Gold Coast Mining Company, 32, Poultry, 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale face, reddish - brown hair, small side whiskers. slight moustache, and well built. Stolen, by means of shopbleaking, between 11 ' 50 p. m. on 26th, and 11 a. m. on 27th instant, in Dudley :— 5 silver Geneva Watches, Nos. 66, 99, 842, 18296, and 28355. 23 Old metal verge Watches— Nos. 16, 345, 445, 477, 549, 683, 820, 889, 2415, 2591, 3720, 4779, 4944, 6355, 6522, 8231, 8382, 9558, 12931, 17232, and three not numbered. 1 old silver verge Watch, not numbered, and has a name on ouside case. 1 pair of silver sleeve Links 1 suit of man's black worsted cord Clothes, rather broad cord, bound with braid, new, size 3. 1 pair of coarse black cloth Trousers, fall fronts, lined with swansdown, size 5. 1 single- breasted Vest, dark grey and white, coarse tweed. 5 new silk Neckerchiefs, plaid patterns, various colours. Next morning, two men were seen to secrete a basket in an Ash Mount, at Deepfields, which upon being examined, was found to contain 57 of the Watches, and some other portions of the stolen property. One of the men— stout, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, sandy whiskers and moustache ; dressed in soft billycock hat, short black jacket, and dark trousers, had the appearance of a labourer. The other man not so stout as the above, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark moustache; dressed in a short dark coat, and hard square topped hat. Information to Mr. Chief Supt. Burton, Borough Police Office, DUDLEY, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, May 28. Stolen from a lock- up shop between 9 p. m. 22nd and 8' 30 a. m. 23rd instant:— about 800 silk Pocket- hankerchiefs, of various colours, figured, some with joakey's cap, horse- shoe, and whip; about 2 dozen woollen and union Shirts, men and boys' size, marked inside neck 1 m/ E ' and ' 0/ 0'; some of the Shirts are striped red on grey ground, white on grey ground, others have dark stripes on light ground, and the remainder are black and white check ; also about £ 1 10s. in Silver. Entrance effected by breaking a skylight window over the back part of the shop. Suspicion is attached to two men ( in company with a prostitute)— first, about 21 years of age, 5 ft. 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, slender build; dressed in dark worsted suit ( round jacket). 2nd about 27 or 30 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark mous- stache, square shoulders, proportionate build ; dressed in dark clothes. Behind the shop was found an old white flannel singlet, old white cotton shirt with blue narrow stripe, and old white cotton socks, and it is supposed that the thief or thieves are wearing grey socks with peach stripes round them, as some few pairs are missing from the shop. Stolen from the person at Belle Vue Gardens, between 9 and 10 p. m., 17th instant:— a silver lever hunting Watch, HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen out of a field at Tynycoed, Berriew, on the night of 26th ultimo :— a very dark brown 2- year old mare Pony, about 14 hands high, long tail, had not been shod, and has a small bump on inside knee on the near fore leg. Stolen from a field at Ward End, early on 28th inst. :—• a bright bay Mare, 14 hands 2 inches high, 6 years old, dark points, a little hair rubbed off the inside of both knees. In- formation to Westley Richards & Co,, Limited, 82, High- street, BIRMINGHAM, or at the Cartridge Works, Mill- lane, WARD END.— Bow- street, May 30. Stolen about 2 p. m. 26th instant, from tha stable at the ' Golden Cross Inn', Colnbrook, Bucks :— an old white gelding Pony, about 12 hands high ; a box pony Cart, with ' Moses, Hampshire, Colnbrook, Bucks', painted on the off side ; and a set of pony Harness. By a man, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, rather dark complexion ; dressed in dark clothes, and cap, was seen driving the pony and cart through Staines the same afternoon. ' 2 POLICE GAZETTE June 1 Supposed stolen from a field at Enville Common, during the night of 20th instant:— a grey faced Ewe Sheep, Scotch breed, holes cut in ears, and suckling, with lamb. Informa- tion to Serjeant Head, KINVKR, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, May 26. The dark blue roan cart Mare, stolen from a stable at Swanscombe, Kent, and advertised in Police Gazette of 15th instant, has not been recovered. The owner, Mr. Dixson Tread well, Court Lodge Farm, Southfleet, now offers a leward of £ 10 for the recovery of tbe Mare and conviction of the offender. Information to Mr. Supt. Webster, Kent Consta- bulary, DARTFORD.— Bow- street, May 25. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Description of WM. BENNETT, charged on a warrant with embezzlement he is about 3a year* of age, £ ft. 4 ina. high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, thin pale face, father high cheek bones, had a black moustache which may now be shaved off. He has been amplayed ae a servant at the Gen, tl « » eii's Club in the City. Information to the Head Constable, City Police Office, WORCESTER - Bow- street, June 1. Description of SAMUEL CLARKE, charged with embezzling £ 59, at Birmingham :— he is 22 years of age, 5 ft. 6 ins. high, thin build, brown hair aud eyes, clean shaven, two large anchors in Indian ink on left wrist, and very thick lips ; dressed in brown coat and vest, moleskin trousers, white muffler, and black bowler hat. Is a moulder. Information to J. Farndale, Chipf Constable, BIRMINGHAM.— Bow streit, June 1. Stolen from Theakston Grange, on 26th ultimo, between 1 and 5 p m, :— a MelodiaB, 12£ inches by 6£ inches, 10 keys on one side, and 2 bass keys and bell on the Other, 2 stops on one end ' made of common wood, with black edge, centre imitation losewood, bound at corners with brass, maker's name on plate, 1 Campbell's Improved Melodian, sold only at 103, Trongate. Glasgow,' trade mark—- a fox head. Supposed by two men : one is about 34 years age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache over face of about a month's growth ; dressed in dark coat and vest, cord or plaid trousers, flat top cap with peak ; the other is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, thin fea- tures, and giuger whiskers; dressed in light jacket and trousers, dirry guernsey, light soft felt hat. Stated they were sailors, and makiug for Liverpool. Wanted for stealing a suit of Clothes, and some stone mason's Tools, at Warwick, on 21st instant ( all recovered) :— SAMUEL SHEPPERD, a discharged soldier, 28 years of age, 6 feet high, fair complexion, light brown hair whiskers and moustache, shaves on chin, moustache curled at each end, deep scar on forehead, ship tattooed on one arm, and two sailors on the other; dressed in dark round monkey jacket, light waistcoat, dark brown trousers, black hard bowler hat, and low shoes, is a native of Croughton, near Brackley, North- amptonshire. Warrant issued, Information to D. C. C. Moth, County Constabulary, KENILWORTH.— Bow- St., May 30. Charged with stealing a fpair of Wellington Boots ( recovered), at Eastbourne, Sussex, on 21st instant:— FRE- DERICK HOLLMAN, about 18 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, has very sore eyes, light brown hair, medium figure, window blind maker ; dressed in black hard felt hat, and dark cloth suit, or may be wearing a brown cloth jacket with red and black spots, has pockets on hips, and one ditto outside left breast with flaps, and a vest and trousers of same material, atid a white cotton necker- chief, which he is suspected of stealing, and old lace- up boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Newnham, East Sussex Constabu- lary, EASTBOUBNE, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. tBow- street, May 30. Charged at Boston, with stealing on 28th instant:— a paisley Shawl, partly worn ; a black silk dress Skirt, partly worn ; a blue flannel Petticoat; a blue velveteen dress Top ; a gold keeper Ring; se/ en Sovereigns; aud four Half Sovereigns :— a womau, about 40 years of age, 4 feet 10 or 11 inehes high, lightish complexion and hair, high cheek bones, is very stout, and generally wears short sleeves ; dressed in black silk jacket, with fur round it, and lined with black alpaca, and quilted, drab or slate- coloured dress, white straw hat, with white feather, and supposed cream- coloured lace ; may be wearing soma of the stolen articles, as she left some old ones behind, was seen wearing the ring along with a new gold wedding ring ; she is addicted to drink, frequents low public and beer- houses, and is iupposed to be accompanied by a labourer or navvy, about 47 years of age, stout, fair complexion, light hair, and clean shaved ; dressed in pilot cloth clothes, round black hat, and carried a small bundle in a red handkerchief. Information to Head Constable Bellamy, BOSTON, Lincolnshire.— Borw- street, May 30. Absconded from High Wycombe, on 22nd instant, charged with stealing a quantity of chimney sweep's working Implements ( most of which are recovered), a tramping Sweep, about 30 years of age, 5 feet high, proportionate build, blue eyes, brown hair, and light brown whiskers. Information to Mr. Supt. Collins, HIGH WYCOMBE.— Bow- street, May 30. Charged with embezzlementJOHN WM. PETERS, 32 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark sallow complexion, haael eyes ( cast in one), black hair, very heavy moustache, but may be shaved off, medium figure, rather bow- legged, and turns his feet in when walking; dressed in dark snit, brown overeoat, brown hard felt hat, and light lace- up boots ; late residence— Old Market Lane, Lewes. Supposed gone'by train to Brighton on 20th instant. Has served 12 years in RoyaJ Artillery. Information to the Superintendent, LEWES, Swsix.— Bow- slreet, May 28. Description of a woman, wanted for stealing a Half Sovereign, at Ecoles ;— about 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair ; dressed in an old black dress, grey shawl, brown hat, and very old elastic- side hoot?. Information to County Police Office, OLD TRAFFORB, Manchester.— Bow- treet, Mqy 28. Wanted on warrant, charged with stealing an old silver verge, Watch, Jbull's- eyeglass, old twisted brass chain attached ; 1 Sovereign, " and 16s. in Silver and Copper Coins :— RICHD. BRIGHT, labourer, of Clun, Salop, 19 years of age, about & feet 6 inches high, nq whiskers or moustache, pale- looking, stoops when walking, turns his feet out, with a swinging gait, and usually carries his hands in his trousers pockets ; dressed in an old brown cloth jacket, moleskin trousers, new blue doth cap with button on top of same material, a new blue and white handkerchief, coloured shirt nearly new, clogs with militia tops. Was traced to Builth, inquiring the road to South Wales. Information to Mi. Supt. Caswell, CHURCH STRBTTON, or to Sergeant Williams, BISHOPS CASTLE, Salop, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 28 Absconded on 24th ultimo, from Statfeern, Leicestershire, charged on warrant, that he being the bailee of a silver watch did fraudulently convert it to bis own use, thereby did feloniously steal the same : — WILLIAM LIGHTFOOT, a tramping watch cleaner, stated he was from London, and was known in Melton Mowbray and at Oakham, carries a small leather bag and a clock face. He is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, sandy hair, turning grey, no whiskers, grey beard and moustache, bald on top of head ; dressed in long datk cloth coat with laps, dark trousers and vest, black soft billy hat, paper collar and black tie. Information to Mr. Inspector H. G. Ackers, Police Station, LATCHIHGDON, Essex.— Bow- street, May 28. Stolen from Sawtory, Huntingdonshire, on 23rd instant: 2 putty Knives, since recovered. By a man, abont 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, rather full face ; dressed in a dark brown frock coat, torn at the elbows, dark tweed trousers, elastic side boots, much worn at the heels, and soft billycock hat; a painter; was last heard of at St. Ives, on the afternoon of 23rd instant, where he worked about 12 months ago. Willen hall, keysmith, who absconded on 21st instant, charged on warrant with stealing a Sovereign :— about 21 years of age, 5 feet 6i inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair and very slight light beard, no whiskers or moustache, blue eyes, medium build, walks very erect, and is single ; dressed in hard billycock hat, light tweed jacket with very narrow sleeves, and has a triangular piece of cloth same colour let in at the wrists, and dark woollen cord trousers.
