DUBLIN, FRIDAY, MAY 25, 1883. ENGLISH POLICE. ABSCONDED, about 3 P. M. on Tuesday, the 15th Inst., stealing f1,300, the money < of his employers, merchants, in this city, Semmy J. Blumlein :— A clerk; he is about 19 years of age, but looks much older, 5 feet 7$ or 8 inches high, proportionately built, black hair, dark moustache, no heard, oval features, sallow complexion, walks with a swinging gait; wore when last seen a dark cloth cutaway coat, dark trowsers, and black billycock lmt. He is a German, and belongs to Frankfort- on- the- Maine, but speaks French and English, and has been in America. The money consisted of £ 400 in gold ; one £ 500 Bank of England note, dated Liverpool, 28th March, 1881, No. 58,435 ; and eight £ 50 Bank of England notes, datod Liverpool, 24th March, 1881, Nos. 37,258 to 37,2G5 inclusive. He will ondeavour to go abroad. Please cause every possible inquiry to be made at hotels, shipping offices, on board of outward- bound vessels, and all other likely places, and if found arrest, or if traced telegraph • to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superimondent. detective Department, Central Police Office, Liverpool, May 17, 1883. FAILED to report his change of residence, licence holder, G 408, Henry Jackson, alias Robert Nally, a groom, native of Dublin, 29 years of age, 5 feet 7f inches high, stout build, brown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, round features, scar on right elbow joint, flat- footed, fifth toe of each foot overlaps fourth, convicted at Liverpool Sessions, 17th April, 1880, of heing in possession of counterfeit coin, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; released from Her Majesty's Convict Prison, Portsmouth, 15th March, 1883, on licence. WANTED here on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with the embezzlement of £ 50, the property of A. Jollie, Junior, and Co., Curriers and Leather Merchants, at 51, Great Hamilton- street, in whose employment he was as a traveller, Harry M. Brown— About 18 years of age, 6 feet 1 inches high, dark hair and complexion, very slight dark moustache, no beard or whiskers ; dressed in a dark corded jacket and vest, light tweed trowsers, and felt hat, he may be carrying a Newmarket coat; he resided at 122, North Frederick- street. Accused absconded on 3rd instant, taking the 2 3<^. m. train on same date for London, with the intenti.^ of going to Africa. Glasgow, May 11, 1883. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. THEFT OF £ 135. W . ,. D here, on a Sheriffs Warrant, charged with the theft of £ 135 which he received yesteiday, 10th inst., within the office of his employers, Messrs. Cowan and Douglas, Brass Founders, at II and 13, hydepark- street, for the purpose of banking, but with which he absconded, Samuel C. Birchwood:— A clerk, about 32 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair which is very curly, fair moustache, Very slight sandy whiskers and bearrl, thin face, fresh complexion, full eyes and pleasant- looking, dressed in a black corded walking coat with pockets behind, and vest of same material, supposed to be wearing grayish trowsers and felt hat. A native of Manchester, and speaks with slight English accent, is married, and resided at 4, Blackie- street, Overnewton. Accused has got the money in his possession, and will probably leave the country. Police Officers are requested to li^ ve the necessary search made for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and l communicate with A. M'CALL, Chief Constable. Glasgow, May 11, 1883. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 7tli May, 1883, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School at Dublin :— William Williams, No. 203, about 14 years of age, 4 feet 2 inches high, stout make, walks badly, very fresh complexion, very fair hair, gray eyes, small nose, round visage, small mole on left side of forehead, tattoos of Indian ink on one of his arms, formerly belonged to Knockadaragh, County Limerick, where his parents reside. The school dress consists of bad old gray frieze jacket, light cord trowsers, cord vest, nailed boots fastened by straps and buckles, old black jerry cap, new blay calico shirt well stamped, and blay cotton socks. This boy was on Burgh- quay on Tuesday morning, 8th instant; he changed his jacket and hat; knows nothing of the city, and must therefore wander about and beg for hi* living till arrested. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Mary Egan, 2428, convicted in the county of the city of Dublin, at the Commission, on 4tli June, 1878, for felony of three coats, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 65 vears of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, widow, is a dealer, was born in Limerick, resided before conviction in Dublin, her friends reside at Limerick; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, light eyebrows, short nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, broad and long visage, burn mark on right temple, stout make, 5 Teet 4 inches high. This convict was discharged from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 20tli November, 18* 2, and went to Dublin. She left her residence, 91, Coombe, without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and her present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 < fc 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 26001 M.— 48109.) General Prisons Board, 9th April, 1883. DESCRIPTION of Bernard M'Parland ( mother's surname M'Connell), native of Ballard, who stands charged with having, on the night of 8th or morning of 9th May, 1883, in the barony of Upper Orier, parish of Forkhill, stolen three sheep and seven lambs, the property of Bernard Devlin, of Carrickna- galliagh, and sold them at the fair of Shercock, county Cavan, where they have been found:— Gray eyes, cocked nose, dark complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark liair; wore a soft hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, may work as a labourer. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 2nd February, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give guch information as would lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in the county of Clare, on the night of the 24th January, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information lias expired : And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murder, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Pounds to be paid upon the information being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information in His Excellency's possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not be disclosed or mado public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Crotty, Esq., Resident Magis- trate at Ennistymon; to Owen Wynne, Esq., Sub- Inspector, Royal Irish Constabulary, at Ennistymon, or to any other Government Official in Great Britain or Ireland. Mary M'Cabe ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. Galway. DUDLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1883. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes pist three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, tlie 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to oneof the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by somo person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months ( rom the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of thf. Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions t' 6 any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person orpersons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or her house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the. CONVICTION of any person who' has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, any of the persons who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th May, 1883, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, at Dublin :— Thomas Johnston, No. 204, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout make, pale complexion, fair hair, gray eyes, slightly turned up nose, round visage, heavy brows; small mark of cut above right eye on forehead ; formerly belonged to Tralee, county Kerry, and his parents are dead. The school dress consists of cord trowsers, cord sleeved vest, blucher boots nailed, and fastened by strap and buckle; had no jacket on him when he left. This boy is very fond of the army, and may try to enlist. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. The man, name and native place unknown, described in Hue.- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, ( intimidation), not arrested. Kilkenny. Thomas Watson ( robbery of an ass, cart, and harness), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd April, 1883. Leitrim. The two heifers described in issue of the 15th in- stant have been found. Limerick. Patrick Dwyer (" Spur") ( serious assault on Denis Ryan and James Duggan), lias been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th February, J 883. Louth. DESCRIPTION of two heifers, the property of William Mulholland, which were stolen from the lands of Ballybarrack, parish of Ballybarrack, and barony of Dundalk Upper, on night of 19th or morning of 2') th May, 1883 :— Two yearling heifers, all white without spot of any kind, short thick horns, and well bred; value for £ 16 each. Patrick Keely ( attempt to set fire to a house, and failing to take his trial when bailed to do so), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. Mayo. ^ DESCRIPTION of Michael Flynn,' native of Tip- perary, who stands charged with having, on the 24th January, 1883, at Ballaghaderreon, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilcolman, assaulted Sub- Constable John Connell and Sub- Constable Thadeus Higgins, in the execution of their duty, and was admitted to bail, but failed to attend at Ballagliaderreen Petty Sessions, held on 12th February, 1883:— Cut mark over left eye, black eyes, straight nose, dark com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair; wore a round hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a carpenter. DESCRIPTION of Fanny Donohoe, native of Ross, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd May, 1883, in the barony of Fore, parish of Killeagh, stolen a cow, the property of her brother, James Somerville, of Ross:— Stoppage in speech, brown eyes, long Roman nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown felt hat, turned up in front, trimmed with red and brown satin, blue flowers in one side; black dress, trimmed with red stuff; a white cloth jacket, and dark gray Ulster with two rows of buttons in front; or may wear a navy blue dress and black shawl. Description of the cow :— A low- sized milch cow, five weeks after calving, brown with white spots, white stripe across shoulder, white star on forehead, some warts on two hind spins, horns large but curving nicely, letters " J. S." on each horn, about 10 years old; value for £ 16. Kells, May 5, 1883. ( 57556c.— 6911.) DESCRIPTION of James Little, native of Dollards- town, who stands charged with having, on the llth April, 1883, in the barony of Skreen, parish of Tara, stolen, £ 23, in notes and gold, from his employer, Richard Wilkinson, of Castleboy :— Gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, full fat ( ace, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a brown hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. DESCRIPTION of Terrence M'Eneany, native of Knocknagarnamon, v. ho, on the 17th of April, 1883, in the barony of Farney, parish of Enniskeen, left the house of James plunkett, of Miskishmore, and has not since been heard of, anfl it is feared some harm has befallen him :— Stooped shoulders, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, broad face, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 70 years of age, gray'liair and whiskers; wore a jerry hat, old gray frieze coat, corduroy trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Garrett Burns, Maurice Harding, and Garrett Cussen ( being three of an armed party who attacked a dwelling- house), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th March, 1883. Tyrone. DESCRIPTION of Charles M'Dermott native of Strabane, who stands charged with having, on the l6th April. 1883, iu the barony of Upper Strabane, parish of Upper Badoney, obtained a heifer by false pretences, and afterwards selling same in the fair ol Plumbridge, and absconding with the amount:— Three warts under right ear adjoining cheek bone, the result of evil, shuffling swaggering gait when walking ; large wild gray eyes, regular nose, pale yellow com- plexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 or 33 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face; wore a milky white hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest, greasy looking and shabby; i3 a low cattle dealer. A Warrant in the hands of the Constabu- lary of this district for his arrest ; the Constabulary should not arrest this offender without the Warrant. Newtownstewart, April 19, 1883.( 58061 c.— 5063.) " Waterford. DESCRIPTION a watch, the property of Edmond Power, which was stolen from his house at Dungarvan, barony of Decies without- Drum, and parish of Dungarvan, on' the 28th of April, 1883 : — A gold chronometer double- cased watch, small dent in front case, the word " chronometer" engraved on the back case ; cost f 150, value now for about £ 50 ; makers, Barnshaw, London. There was a gold Albert chain and two silver chains, value for about .£ 15, attached to the watch, which were also taken. Dungarvan, May 12, 1883. Bella Hamilton ( infanticide), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th April, 1883. - " Westmeath. The body of William Reynolds, native of Walderstown, who left his home on the 9th instant, has been found in a boghole about a mile from his home. It is supposed he commited suicide. The man, name arid native place unknown ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. Wexford. DESCRIPTION of James Taplay, native of Ballingarry Upper, who stands charged with having, on the night • f the 15th or morning of 16th May, 1883, in the barony of Gorey, parish of Kilnahue, stolen a colt, the property of his father, Henry Tapley:— High shoulders, turns in his toes when walking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular faca, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a servant boy. The colt has been recovered. Tapley was last seen near Wicklow, and will probably try to escape to Liverpool. Gorey, May 19, 1883. ( 57621 c.— 7009.) DESCRIPTION of William Kelly, native of Red Bog, who stands charged with having, on the 30th April, 1883, in the barony of Shelmalier West, parish of Whitechurch Glynn, stolen a sheep, the property of Michael Kehoe, off the lands of Lambstown Great, and sold it nt the fair of Taghmon, on 2nd May, 1883, after which he absconded :— Slovenly slouching gait, wears short side whiskers, rest of face shaved, dark eyes, rather hooked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm servant.
