FAILED to report his change of residence, licence holder, G 408, Henry Jackson, alias Robert Nally, a groom, native of Dublin, 2!) years of ago, 5 feet 7 J inches high, stout build, brown hair, liazeT eyes, lreslj complexion, round features, scar on right elbow joint, flat- footed, fifth toe of each foot overlaps fourth, convicted at Liverpool Sessions, 17th April, 1880, of being in possession of counterfeit coin, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; released from Her Majesty's Convict Prison, Portsmouth, 15th March, 1883, on licence. He was previously convicted nt Dublin, 4th February, 1870, of larceny, and sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. Jollie, Junior, and Co., Curriers and Leather Merchants, at, 51, Great Hamilton- street, in whose employment he was as a traveller, Harry M. Brown— About 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair nnd - complexion, very slight dark moustache, no beard or whiskers; dressed in a dark corded jacket and vest, light tweed trowsers, and felt hat, he may bo carrying a Newmarket coat; he resided at 122, North Frederick- street. Accused absconded on 3rd instant, taking the 2 30 I'. M. train on same date for London, with the intention of going to Africa. Glasgow, May 11, 1883. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. THEFT OF £ 135. WANTED here, on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with tho theft of £ 135 which he received yesterday, loth inst., within the office of his employers, Messrs. Cowan and Douglas, Brass Founders, at 11 and 13, Hydepark- street, for the purpose of banking, but with which he absconded, Samuel C. Birchwood:— A clerk, about 32 years of ago, about O . feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair which is very curly, fair moustache, very slight sandy whiskers and beard, thin face, fresh complexion, full eyes and pleasant- looking, dressed in a black corded walking coat with pockets behind, and vest of same material, supposed to be wearing grayish trowsers and felt hat. A native of Manchester, and speaks with slight English accent, is married, and resided at 4, Blackie- street, Overnewton. Accused has got the Money in his possession, and will probably leave tho crjkry. Police tjlf^ rs arc requested to have the necessary search macfe for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and likely places, and should he be arrested or traced, - communicate with A. M'CALL, Chief Constable. Glasgow, May 11, 1883. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 7th May, 1883, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School at Dublin :— Wiliiam Williams, No. 203, about 14 years of age, 4 feet 2 inches high, stout make, walks badly, very fresh complexion, very fair hair, gray eyes, small nose, round visage, small mole on left side of forehead, tattoos of Indian ink on one of his arms, formerly belonged to Knockadaragh, county Limerick, where his parents reside. The school dress consists of bad old gray frieze jacket, light cord trowsers, cord vest, nailed boots fastened by straps and buckles, old black jerry cap, new blay calico shirt well stamped, and blay cotton socks. This boy was on Burgh- quay on Tuesday morning, 8th instant; he changed his jacket and hat; knows nothing of the city, and must therefore wander about arid beg for his living till arrested. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Mary Egan, 2428, convicted in the county of the city of Dublin, at the Commission, on 4th June, 1878, for felony of three coats, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 65 vears of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, widow, is a dealer, was born in Limerick, resided before conviction in Dublin, her friends reside at Limerick; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, light eyebrows, short nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, broad and long visage, burn mark on right temple, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high. This convict was discharged from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 20th November, 1882, and went to Dublin. She left her residence, 91, Coombe, without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and her present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 < fc 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 26061 m.— 48109.) General Prisons Board, 9th April, 1883. Mary Quinn ( infanticide), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd February, 1883. Police Supervisee, Henry Naylor, 11291, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th January, 1883. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Armagh. DESCRIPTION of Bernard M'Parland ( mother's surname M'Connell), native of Ballard, who stands charged with having, on the night of 8th or morning of 9th May, 1883, in the barony of Upper Orier, parish of Forkhill, stolen three sheep and seven lambs, the property of Bernard Devlin, of Carrickna- galliagh, and sold them at the fair of Shercock, county Cavan, where they have been found :— Gray eyes, cocked nose, dark complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, may work as a labourer. Newry, May 15, 1883. " ( 5814 7 c.— 5236.) Arthur Hagan ( assault endangering life^ not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. Cavan. DESCRIPTION of Edward M'Neill ( supposed fic- titious), said he belonged to Derrylane, near Kille- shandra, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd May, 1883, in the barony of Lower Loughtee, parish of Anna, sold two heifers in Belturbet fair to two cattle dealers from Monaghan town for £ 16, but who, on being desired to get some person to vouch for his honestly coming by the heifers, de- camped, and has not since been heard of:— Slightly stooped, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 55 or 60 years of age ; wore a jerry hat, brown frieze coat, black trowsers, and dark vest; appeared to be a small farmer. The heifers are in the possession of the Police at Belturbet. Description of the heifers :—- 1. A red and white heifer, star on forehead, two years old, in low condition ; value for £ 9. 2. A red heifer, two years old, in low condition ; value for £ 9. They appeared to have been driven a long distance. Killeshandra, May 8, 1883. ( 58127 c.— 5198.) Clare. DUBLIN CASTLE, 6th December, 1882. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 2nd February, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in the county of Clare, on the night of the 24th January, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who,- within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in, or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, concerned in this Murder, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of lite Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to THE POLICE GAZETTE, Or HUE- AND- CRY, JULY 296, 1883. the Murder, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Pounds to be paid upon the information being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information in His Excellency's possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not bo disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having information to give may com- municate it to R. D. Crotty, Esq., Resident Magis- trate at Enhistymon ; to Owen Wynne, Esq., Sub- Inspector, Royal Irish Constabulary, at Ennistymon, or to any other Government Official in Great Britain or Ireland. John Dwyer ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 20th March, 1883. Down. DESCRIPTION of William John Murphy, native of Ballynahinch, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1883, in the barony of Kinalarty, parish of Magheradrool, stolen two cows, the property of James Irwin, from his cow- house, at Creevytenant, near Ballynahinch. The cows were found in Murphy's yard, in Belfast -.— Mark of a sore on left cheek from bite of an ass, on which there is a scab, hard lump on forefinger of left hand from scutching, old cuts on right hand, brown eyes, long nose, dirty sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 38 years of age, brown hair; is a scutcher, and deals in paraffin oil. May work in scutch mills in Down, Antrim, and Armagh. When last seen was wearing a loose brown top coat, soft hat, and shoes. Downpatrick, April 5, 1883. ( 50408 c.— 1926.) Dublin. Mary M'Cabe ( robbery of money), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6tli April, 1883. Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, r. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq.. of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway. and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the - road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months Irom the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Grown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- • iction ol the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or hor house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to th'e CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, any of the persons who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Ksq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. Patrick Finnerty, described in Hue- and- Cry of 3rd ultimo, has been traced to New York, where he is in hospital. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 15th May, 1883, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, at Dublin:— Thomas Johnston, No. 204, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout make, pale complexion, fair hair, gray eyes, slightly turned up nose, round visage, heavy brows; small mark of cut above right eye on forehead ; formerly belonged to Tralee, county Kerry, and his parents are dead. The school dress consists of cord trowsers, cord sleeved vest, blucher boots nailed, and fastened by strap and buckle; had no jacket on him when he left. This boy is very fond of the army, and may try to enlist. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. Myles Farrell ( assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 23rd March, 1883. Mathew Smith ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th March, 1883. William Tegan ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, ( intimidation), not arrested. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of two heifers, the property of Robert Grant, which were stolen from the lands of Haggard, parish of Kilmackevoge, barony of Ida, on the 11th day of May, 1883:— 1. A one- year- old heifer, red and white colour, short cocked horns and turned a little back ; value for £ 8. 2. A one- year- old heifer, red colour, thick strong body, good condition, short straight horns; value for £ 9. Rosbercon, May 16, 1883. ( 57596 c. — 6972.) Thomas Watson ( robbery of an ass, cart, and harness), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd April, 1883. Louth. The man, name unknown, supposed native of Drogheda, ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th March, 1883. Patrick Keely ( attempt to set fire to a house, and failing to take his trial when bailed to do so), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 10th March, 1883. Mayo. DESCRIPTION of Michael Flynn, native of Tip- perary, who stands charged with having, on the 24th January, 1883, at Ballaghaderreen, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilcolman, assaulted Sub- Constable John Connell and Sub- Constable Thadeus Higgins, in the execution of their duty, and was admitted to bail, but. failed to attend at Ballaghaderreen Petty Sessions, held on 12th February, 1883:— Cut mark over left eye, black eyes, straight nose, dark com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair; wore a round hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a carpenter. This man has friends residing at Castlerea, county Roscommon, and goes from town to town working at his trade as carpenter. Ballaghaderreen, May 8, 1883. ( 56863 c.— 0508.) DESCRIPTION of James Ruddy, native of Doogort East, who stands charged with having, on the 5tli April, 1883, in the barony of Burrishoole, parish of Achill, seriously assaulted Patrick Grealish, tliereby placing his life in danger:— Good- looking, smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, fail- complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Michael M'Namara ( suspected of being one of an armed party who committed a murder), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd March, 1883. Patrick Hannon, alias Moran ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, 1883. Meath. DESCRIPTION of Fanny Donohoe, native of Ross,, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd May,. 1883, in the barony of Fore, parish of Killeagh,. stolen a cow, the property of her brother, James Somerville, of Ross:— Stoppage in speech, brown eyes, long Roman nose, fresh complexion,, lpng face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 30 years of' age, brown hair; wore a brown felt hat, turned up in front, trimmed with red and brown satin, blue flowers in one side; black dress, trimmed with red stuff; a white cloth jacket, and dark gray Ulster with two rows- of buttons in front; or may wear a navy blue dress- and black shawl. Description of the cow :— A low- sized milch cow, five weeks after calving,, brown with white spots, white stripe across shoulder, white star on forehead, some warts on two hind spins,, horns large but curving nicely, letters " J. S." on each horn, about 10 years old; value for £ 16. Kells, May 5, 1883. ( 57556 c.— 6911.) DESCRIPTION of James Little, native of Dollards- town, who stands charged with having, on the 11 th April, 18S3, in the barony of Skreen, parish of Tarar stolen, £ 23, in notes and gold, from his employer, Richard Wilkinson, of Castleboy :— Gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, full fat face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a brown hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Edward Scott ( assault endangering life), not. arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, \ 8mt William Gordon ( entering a dwo/ j^- house, and committing an assault on the inmates jV^^ t atrested ; see Hue- aud- Cry of 9th and 12th January, 1883. Nicholas Beglan ( same offence and on the same occasion as above), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 9th January, 1883. THE POLICE GAZETTE, Oft HUE- AND- CRY, JULY 297, 1883. Tipperary. Garrett Burns, Maurice Harding, and Garrett Cussen ( being three of an armed party who attacked a dwelling- house), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30tli March, 1883. Tyrone. DESCRIPTION of Charles M'Dermott native of Strabane, who stands charged with having, on the 10th April, 1883, in the barony of Upper Strabane, parish of Upper Badoney, obtained a heifer by false pretences, and afterwards selling same in the fair ol Plumbridge, and absconding with the amount: — Three warts under right car adjoining cheek bone, the result of evil, shuffling swaggering gait when walking ; large wild gray eyes, regular nose, pale yellow com- plexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about or 33 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face; wore a milky white hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest, gieasy looking and shabby ; is a low cattle dealer. A Warrant in the hands of the Constabu- lary of this district for his arrest ; the Constabulary should not arrest this offender without the Warrant. Newtownstewart, April 19, 1883.( 58081 c.— 5063.) DESCRIPTION of Bella Hamilton, native of Donemanagh, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of March, 1883, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Leckpatrick, committed infanticide:— Light blue eyes, sharp nose, fresh complexion, thin face, very stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 23 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray shawl; is a servant. Strabane, April 0, 1883. ( 58013 c.— 4904.) Waterford. DESCRIPTION a watch, the property of Edmond Power, which was stolen from his house at Dungarvan, barony of Decies- without- Drum, and parish of Dungarvan, on the 28th of April, 1883: — A gold chronometer double- cased watch, small dent in front case, tho word " chronometer" engraved on the back case ; cost £ 150, value now for about £ 50 ; makers, Barnshaw, London. There was a gold Albert chain and two silver chains, value for about £ 15, attached to tho watch, which were also taken. Dungarvan, May 12, 1883. Westmeath. DUBLIN CASTI. E, 27th November, 1882. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them concerned in this Murder a A FREE PARDON and the special protection oj the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private infor- mation shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said rewards shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having information to give may com- municate it to Captain Butler, Special Resident Magistrate, Mullingar; to Captain Boileau, Resi- dent Magistrate, Mullingar; to A. W. DESCRIPTION of William Reynolds, native of Walderstown, who left his home on the 9th instant, in the barony of Kilkenny West, parish of Drum- raney, and has not since been heard of, and it is feared ill has befallen him :— Leans forward when walking with his head to left side, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 56 years of age, gray hair; wore an old hard round black hat, old brown frieze coat, cord trowsers, and nailed boots. DESCRIPTION of William Kelly, native of Red Bog, who stands charged with having, on the 30th April, 1883, in the barony of Shelmalier West, parish of Whitechurch Glynn, stolen a sheep, the property of Michael Kehoe, off the lands of Lambstown Great, and sold it at the fair of Taghmon, on 2nd May, 1883, after which he abscanded :— Slovenly slouching gait, wears short side whiskers, rest of face shaved, dark eyes, rather hooked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 0 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm servant.
