FAILED to report his change of residence, licence holder, G 408, Henry Jackson, alias Robert Nally, a groom, native of Dublin, 29 years of ago, 5 feet 7f inches h'gh, stout build, brown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, round features, scar on right elbow joint, flat- footed, fifth too of each foot overlaps fourth, convicted at Liverpool Sessions, 17th April, 1880, of being in possession of counterfeit coin, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; released from Her Majesty's Convict Prison, Portsmouth, 15tli March, 1883, on liconco. He was previously convicted at Dublin, 4tli February, 1879, of larceny, and sontonced to 12 months' imprisonment. Jollie, Junior, and Co., Curriers and Leather Merchants, at 51, Great Hamilton- street, in whose employment ho was as a traveller, Harry M. Brown— About 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair and comploxion, very slight dark moustache, no beard or whiskers; dressed in a dark corded jacket and vest, light tweed trowsers, and felt hat, he may be carrying a Newmarket coat; he resided at 122, North Frederick- street. Accused absconded on 3rd instant, taking tho 2 30 P. M. train on same date for London, with the intention of going to Africa. M'CALL, Chief Constablo. Glasgow, May 11, 1883. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. THEFT OF £ 135. WANTED here, on a Sheriffs hWarrant, charged with tho theft of £ 135 which he received yesterday, 10th inst., within the office of his employers, Messrs. Cowan and Douglas, Brass Founders, at 11 and 13, Hydepark- street, for tho purpose of banking, but with which he absconded, Samuel C. Birchwood:— A clerk, about 32 years of ago, about 5 feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair which is very curly, fair moustache, very slight sandy whiskers and beard, thin face, fresh complexion, full eyes and ploasant- looking, dressed in a black corded walking coat with pockets behind, and vest of same material, supposed to bo wearing grayish trowsers and felt hat. A native of Manchester, and speaks with slight English accent, is married, and resided at 4, Blackie- street, Overnewton. Accused has got tho money in his possession, and will probably leave tho country. Police Officers aro rcquosted to have the necessary soarcV. fuudo for accused at hotels, shipping offices, and likely places, and should he be arrested or traced, communicate with A. M'CALL, Chief Constablo. Glasgow, May 11, 1883. CITY OF GLASGOW POLICE. FORGERY £ 520. WANTED in the city on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with forging the signature of his masters, Macindoe Brothers, Stockbrokers, North Court, Royal Exchange, to a cheque for £ 520, and cashing it in a bank in this city, on 17th April, current, Alfred Anderson :— A clerk, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slender made, very dark brown hair, parted in centre, and stands straight up in front and rather short, bare faced, rather high cheek bones, hollow cheeks, dark eyes, and a blue mark ( scar) about the size of a pea above right eye ; dressed in a short dark tweed coat, dark vest and trowsers, and high crowned black felt hat; has with him a checked tweed Ulster of a yellowish colour, a black leather travelling bag, and a crooked walking stick. Accused absconded on 17th instant, taking the 9.15 P. M. train from Central Station ( Caledonian Railway)^ to London, where he presented on the following day three £ 100 notes requesting change, and on being questioned ran off, leaving the notes in the bank; it was his intention to proceed to Spain via Paris. Police officers are requested to krpji a lookout for accused, as if he has left this country he may return and be found spending money recklessly, or in destitute circumstances, and should he be arrested or any information obtained communicate with A. M'CALL , Chief Constable Glasgow, April 28, 1883. ( 26181 M.— 48360.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on tho 7th May, 1883, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School at Dublin :— William Williams, No. 203, about 14 years of age, 4 feet 2 inches high, stout make, walks badly, very fresh complexion, very fair hair, gray eyes, small nose, round visage, small mole on left side of forehead, tattoos of Indian ink on one of his arms, formerly belonged to Knockadaragh, county Limerick, where his parents reside. The school dress consists of bad old gray frieze jacket, light cord trowsers, cord vest, nailed boots fastened by straps and buckles, old black jerry cap, new blay calico shirt well stamped, and blay cotton socks. This boy was on Burgh- quay on Tuesday morning, 8th instant; he changed his jacket and hat; knows nothing of the city, and must therefore wander about and beg for his living till arrested. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Mary Egan, 2428, convicted in the county of the city of Dublin, at the Commission, on 4th June, 1878, for felony of three coats, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— G5 vears of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, widow, is a dealer, was born in Limerick, resided before conviction in Dublin, her friends reside at Limerick; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, light eyebrows, short nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, broad and long visage, burn mark on right temple, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high. This convict was discharged from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 20th November, 1882, and went to Dublin. She left her residence, 91, Coombe, without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and her present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 <& 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 26061 M.— 48109.) General Prisons Board, 9th Apiil, 1883. Armagh. Arthur Hagan ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Iluc- aricf- Oy, 6th April, 1883. Cavan. DESCRIPTION of Edward M'Neill ( supposed fic- titious), said he belonged to Derrylane, near Kille- shandra, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd May, 1883, in the barony of Lower Loughtee, parish of Anna, sold two heifers in Belturbet fair to two cattle dealers from Monaghan town for £ 16, but who, on being desired to get some person to vouch for his honestly coming by the heifers, de- camped, and has not since been- heard of:— Sligh 1 y stooped, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 55 or 60 years of age ; wore a jerry hat, brown frieze coat, black trowsers, and dark vest; appeared to be a small farmer. The heifers are in the possession of the Police at Belturbet. Description of the heifers _;—• 1. A red and white heifer, star on forehead, two years old, in low condition; value for £ 9. 2. A red heifer, two years old, in low condition ; value for £ 9. They appeared to have been driven a long distance. Killeshandra, May 8, 1883. ( 58127 c.— 5198.) Clare. DUBLIN CASTLE, 6th December, 1882. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 2nd February, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as wonld lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in the county of Clare, on the night of the 24th January, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : And His Excellency is pleased to renew the . said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FlFty pOUNDS for such private information, given xfffliin the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murder, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Pounds to bo paid upon the information being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information in His Excellency's possession, evert though 110 person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall bo made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become ontitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not be disclosed < jr made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shalj desire. Bridget Brew, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, has not yet been found. Cork. x John Dwyer ( robbery), not arrested ; I luo- and- Cry, 20th March, 1883. Down. DESCRIPTION of William John Murphy, native of Ballynahinch, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1883, in the barony of Kinalarty, parish of Magheradrool, stolen two cows, the property of James Irwin, from his cow- house, at Creevytenant, near Ballynahinch. The cows were found in Murphy's yard, in Belfast ;— Mark of a sore on left cheek from bite of an ass, on which thero is a scab, hard lump on forefinger of left hand from scutching, old cuts on right hand, brown eyes, long nose, dirty- sallow complexion, long face, tpedium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 38 years of age, brown hair; is a scutcher, and deals in paraffin oil. May work in seutcli mills in Down, Antrim, and Armagh. When last seen was. wearing a loose brown top coat, soft hat, and slioes. Downpatrick, April 5, 1880. ( 56468 c.— 4926.) Dublin. Mary M'Cabe ( robbery of money), not arrested ; Hue- and- Ciy, 6th April, 1883. Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant. Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the rond close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne; near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : H is Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is ploased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date . hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or an)' of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Crown in any pari of Iler Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person orpersons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or anv of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or her house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNdS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or ho shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, eny of the ;, rsons who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. Thomas Sex ( failing to appear when on bail)>, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th March, 1883. Myles Farrell ( assault), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 23rd March, 1883. Mathew Smith ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. William Tegan ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, ( intimidation), not arrested. Kilkenny. Thomas Watson ( robbery of an ass, cart, and harness), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd April, 1883. Leitrim. DESCRIPTION of two heifers, the property of John Conlon, which were stolen from the lands of Kil- lamahera, parish of Kiltoghert, barony of Leitrim, on the 8th day of May, 1883 :— 1. One year old, dark gray colour, horns standing outwards, fair condition ; value for £ 8. 2. One year old, gray colour, cocked horns, fair condition ; value for £ 7. Carrick- on- Shan., May 10,1883. ( 56872 c.— 6584.) Louth. The man, name unknown, supposed native of Drogheda, ( cattle stealing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 27th March, 1883. Patrick Keely ( attempt to set fire to a house, and failing to take his trial when bailed to do so), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. Mayo. DESCRIPTION of Michael Flynn, native of Tip- pcrary, who stands charged with having, on the 24th January, 1883, at Ballaghaderreen, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilcolman, assaulted Sub- Constable John Connel and Sub- Constable Thadeus Higgins, in the execution of their duty, and was admitted to bail, but failed to attend at Ballaghaderreen ^ tty Sessions, held on 12th February, 1' 883 :— Cut, mark over left eye, black eyes, straight nose, dark com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 incfu\> high, about 26 years of age, black hair; wore a round hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a carpenter. This man has friends residing HI Castlerea, eounty Roscommon, and goes from town to town working at his trade as carpenter. Ballaghaderreen, May 8, 1883. ( 56863 c.— 6568.) DESCRIPTION of James Ruddy, native of Doogort East, who stands charged with having, on the 5th April, 1883, in the barony of Burrishoole, parish ot Achill," seriously assaulted Patrick Grealish, thereby placing his life in danger:— Good- looking, smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Michael M'Namara ( suspected of being one of an armed party who committed a murder), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd March, 1883. Patrick Hannon, alias Moran ( serious assault), not arested ; Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, 1883. Meath. DESCRIPTION of Fanny Donohoe, native of Ross, who stands charge 1 with having, on the 3rd May, 1883, in the barony of Fore, parish of Killeagh, stolen a cow, the property of her brother, James Somerville, of Ross:— Stoppage in speech, brown eyes, long Roman nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown felt hat, turned up in front, trimmed with red and brown satin, blue flowers in one side; black dress, trimmed with red stuff; a white cloth jacket, and dark gray Ulster with two rows of buttons in front; or may wear a navy blue dress and black shawl. Description of the cow :— A low- sized milch cow, five weeks after calving, brown with white spots, white stripe across shoulder, white star on forehead, some warts on two hind spins, horns large but curving nicely, letters " J. S." on each horn, about 10 years old; value for £ 16. Kells, May 5, 1883. ( 57556 c.— 6911.) DESCRIPTION of James Little, native of Dollards- town, who stands charged with having, on the lltli April, 1883, in the barony of Skreen, parish of Tara, stolen, £ 23, in notes and gold, from his employer, Richard Wilkinson, of Castleboy:— Gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, full fat face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a brown hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Francis Kelly ( absconding when on bail to take his trial on a charge of attempt to commit a rape), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 6th March, 1883. Roscommon. Thomas Doyle ( robbery of money), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 30th March, 1883. Sligo. Edward Scott ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. william Gordon ( entering a dwelling- house, and committing an assault on the inmates), not arrested ; see Hue- and- Cry of 9th and 12th January, 1883. Nicholas Beglan ( same offence and on the same occasion as above), not arrested ; Hue- and- Ory, 9th January, 1883. Tipperary. DESCRIPTION of Garrett Burns, native place near Cahir, Maurice Harding, native of Ballygorteen, and Garrett Cussen, native of Rossadrehid, who stand charged with having, on the 2nd March, 1883, in the barony of Iffa and Offa West, parish of Temple THE POLICE GAZETTE, Oft HUE- AND- CRY, JULY 301, 1883. tenny, been throe of an armed party who attacked the house of Denis O'Brien, of Kiltankin :— 1. ^ iray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair, no whiskers ; wore a low jerry hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Blue eyes, Roman nose, frosh complexion, long faco, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair, sandy side whiskers, shaves tho rest of his face; wore a low jerry hat, brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 3. Walks with a swagger, dark eyes, rather cocked nose, dark complexion, round fat face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair, wears a black moustache, rather heavy ; wore a dark tweed suit; is a carpenter. Patrick Naughton ( cattle stealing), not arrested ; Huo- and- Cry, 23rd January, 1883. John Ryan ( waylay and assault), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 9th January, 1883. Tyrone. DESCRIPTION of Charles M'Dermott native of Strabane, who stands charged with having, on the 16th April, 1883, in the barony of Upper Strabane, parish of Upper Badoney, obtained a heifer by false pretences, and afterwards selling same in the fair of Plumbridge, and absconding with the amount:— Threo warts under right ear adjoining cheek bone, the result of evil, shuffling swaggering gait when walking ; large wild gray eyes, regular nose, pale yellow com- plexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 or 33 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face; wore a milky white hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest, greasy looking and shabby ; is a low cattle dealer. A Warrant in tho hands of tho Constabu- lary of this district for his arrest ; the Constabulary should not arrest this offender without the Warrant. Newtownstewart, April 19, 1883.( 58064 c.— 5063.1 DESCRIPTION of Bella Hamilton, native of Donemanagh, who stands charged with having, on tho 28th day of March, 1883, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Leckpatrick, committed infanticide s— Light blue eyes, sharp nose, fresh complexion, thin face, very stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 22 years of ago, dark browii hair ; wore a gray shawl; is a sorvant. Strabane, April 6, 1883. ( 58013 c.— 4964.) Waterford. DESCRIPTION a watch, the property of Edmond Power, which was stolen lroui his house at Dungarvan, barony of Decies- without- Drum, and parish of dungarvan, on the 28th of April, 1883: — A gold chronometer double- cased watch, small dent in front case, the word " chronometer" engraved on the back case ; cost £' 150, value now for about £ 50 ; makers, Barnshaw, London. There was a gold Albert chain and two silver chains, value for about £ 15, attached to the watch, which were also taken. Dungarvan, May 12, 1883. Westmeath. DUBLIN . CASTLE, 27th November, 1882. DESCRIPTION of William Kelly, native of Red Bog, who stands charged with having, on the Siltli April, 1883, in the barony of Shelmalier West, parish of Whitechurch Glynn, stolen a slircp, the property of Michael Kehoe, off the lands of lambstown Great, and sold it ot the fair of Taghmon, on 2nd May, 1883, after which he absconded :— Slovenly slouching gait, wears short side whiskers, rest of face shaved, dark eyes, rather hooked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm servant.
