No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspec tor- General. FAILED to report his change of residence, licence holder, G 408, Henry Jackson, alias Robert Nally, a groom, native of Dublin, 29 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, stout build, brown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, round features, scar on right elbow joint, flat- footed, fifth toe of each foot overlaps fourth, convicted at Liverpool Sessions, 17th April, 1880, of being in possession of counterfeit coin, and was sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; released from Her Majesty's Convict Prison, Portsmouth, 15th March, 1883 , on licenco. He was previously convicted ^ at Dublin, 4th February, 1879, of larceny, and sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. FORGERS £ 520. - . ^ NTED in this city on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged Urging the signature of his masters, Macindoe Stockbrokers, North Court, Royal Exchange, .. jiie for £ 520, and cashing it in a bank in this city, on 17th April, current, Alfred Anderson :— A clerk, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slender made, very dark brown hair, parted in centre, and stands straight up in front and rather short, bare faced, rather high check bones, hollow cheeks, dark eyes, and a blue mark ( scar) about the size of a pea above right eye ; dressed in a short dark tweed coat, dark vest and trowsers, and high crowned black felt hat; has with him a checked tweed Ulster of a yellowish colour, a black leather travelling bag, and a crooked walking stick. Accused absconded on 17th instant, taking the 9.15 P. M. train from Central Station ( Caledonian Railway) to London, where he presented on the following day three £ 100 notes requesting change, and on being questioned ran off, leaving the notes in tho bank; it was his intention to proceed to Spain via Paris. Police officers are requested to keep a lookout for accused, as if he has left this country he may return and be found spending money recklessly, or in __ destitute circumstances, and should he be arrested or " any information obtained communicate with A. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Mary Egan, 2428, convicted in the county of the city of Dublin, at the Commission, on 4th June, 1878, for felony of three coats, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude s— 65 vears of ago on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, widow, is a dealer, was born in Limerick, resided before conviction in Dublin, her friends reside at Limerick; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, light eyebrows, short nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, broad and long visage, burn mark on right temple, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high. This convict was discharged from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 20th November, 1882, and went to Dublin. She left her residence, 91, Coombe, without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and her present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 20061 M.— 48109.) General Prisons Board, 9th April, 1883. Philip Galligan ( manslaughter), described in last Hue- and- Cry has surrendered. Clare. DUBLIN CASTLE, 6th December, 1882. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 2nd February, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as wonld lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in the county of Clare, on the night of the 24th January, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in, or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, concerned in this Murder, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murder, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Pounds to be paid upon the information being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information in His Excellency's possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to> any of the said rewards for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having information to give may com- municate it to R. D. Crotty, Esq., Resident Magis- trate at Ennistymon; to Owen Wynne, Esq., Sub- Inspector, Royal Irish Constabulary, at Ennistymon, or to any other Government Official in Great Britain or Ireland. DESCRIPTION of William John Murphy, native of Ballynahinch, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1883, in the barony of Kinalarty, parish of'Magheradrool, stolen two cows, the prpporty of James Irwin, from his cbow- house, St CreeVytenant, near Ballynahinch. The cows were found in Murphy's yard, in Belfast -.— Mark of a sore on left cheek from bite of an ass, on which there is a scab, hard lump on forefinger of left hand from scutching, old cuts on right hand, brown eyes, long nose, dirty sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 38 years of age, brown hair; is a scutcher, and deals in paraffin oil. May work in scutch mills in Down, Antrim, and Armagh. When last seen was wearing a loose brown top coat, soft hat, and shoes. Downpatrick, April 5,1883. ( 56468 c.— 4926.) Dublin. DESCRIPTION of Mary M'Cabe, native of Barnaculla, who stands charged with having, on the 26th March, 1883, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Kilgobbin, stolen £ 32 in notes, the property of her father, Peter M'Cabe, from his dwelling house, at Barnaculla:— Mole on left cheqk, high mouth, gray eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a white straw hat with red flower in front, gray serge dress, gray Ulster cloak, elastic side boots nearly new, is a labourer. Warrant in the hands of the Constable at Stepaside. Dundrum, April 3, 1883. ( 57403 c.— 6631.) Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1& 82. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murdejs, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within sis months from the date hereof, give such information as shall 9 THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, MAY 4, 1883. lead to the conviction of thq person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders, And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to tho above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of tJte Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person orpersons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of tho persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or her house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude f< 3r life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, any of the persons who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Finnerty, native of Clough, who stands charged with having, on the 9tli March, 1883, in the barony of Tiaquin, parish of Cloonkeen, while of unsound mind, attempted to assault his wife. He left his home about the 15th inst., was seen at Mountbellew, on the 18th inst., and it is believed he has met with some evil end. He had £ 30 in his pocket, and is much afraid of being poisoned:— Blue eyes, short pointed nose, fresh complexion, full broad face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 47 years of age, brown hair turning gray, small side whiskers, no moustache; wore a frieze Repeal coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is a small farmer. The man, name and native place unknown ( serious assault on - a policeman), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd December, 1882. John Kennedy ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 30th January, 1883. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of Martin Long, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 27th April, 1883, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Kildare, committed an indecent assualt on a child named Bridget Cahill, aged between 10 and 11 years:— High cheek bones, narrow chin, regular nose, fair complexion, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of ago, dark hair; wore a dark tweed pea coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a stable boy; was in the employment of Mr. Beatley, near Clonsilla, county Dublin. Kildare, April 29, 1883. ( 57521 c.— 6851.) Thomas Sex ( failing to appear when on bail), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th March, 1883. Myles Farrell ( assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 23rd March, 1883. Mathew Smith ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 10th March, 1883. William Tegan ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- aud- Cry, 16th March, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown, doscribed in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, ( intimidation), not arrested. Kilkenny. Thomas Watson ( robbery of an ass, cart, and harness), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd April, 1883, Limerick. The four persons, names and native places un- known ( serious assault), not arrested ; Hue- aud- Cry, 20th February, 1883. Louth. The man, name unknown, supposed native of Drogheda, ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th March, 1883. Patrick Keely ( attempt to set fire to a house, and failing to take his trial when bailed to do so), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 16tli March, 1883. Mayo. DESCRIPTION of James Ruddy, native of Doogort East, who stands charged with having, on the 5th April, 1883, in the barony of Burrishoole, parish of Achill, seriously assaulted Patrick Grealish, thereby placing his - life in danger;— Good- looking, smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexibn, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Little, native of Dollards- town, who stands charged with having, on the 11 th April, 1883, in the barony of Skreen, parish of Tara, stolen, £ 23, in notes and gold, from his employer, Richard Wilkinson, of Castleboy :— Gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, full fat lace, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a brown hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Francis Kelly ( absconding when on bail to take his trial on a charge of attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th March, 1883. Queen's. DESCRIPTION of six persons, charged on remand with having stolen property in their possession :—- 1. Martin M'Donagh— States he is a native of Athlone, dark side whiskers, upper lip and chin shaved, dark complexion, round face, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 35 years of age; wears a blue sack coat, brown tweed trowsers and vest; is a tinker. 2. Cathrine M'Donagh— States she is a native of Athione, gray eyes, regular nose, slightly freckled face, 4 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair cut short, states she has been in the Mullingar Asylum for six months; wears a striped cotton dress, plaid shawl, and strong boots. 3. Margaret McDonnell— Of Athione, hazel eyes, slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, stout make, 4 feet 2 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown kair ; wears a blue dress and plaid shawl. 4. Johh Graham— States he is a native of Athione, blue eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 38 years of age, light brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, chin shaved ; wears a blue pilot sack coat, black corduroy trowsers, and strong laced boots; is a tinker, and states he was in the army. 5. Mary Graham— Of Athlone, small blue eyes, regular nose, freckled face, 4 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, 40 years of age; wears a striped petticoat and strong laced boots. 6. Margaret Ward— Brown eyes, slightly cocked nose, long face, stout make, 6 feet 2 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair; wears a striped shawl, old brown petticoat, and elastic side boots. The following is a list of the articles supposed to have been stolen, which were found in their possession when arrested at Clonaslie on charge of larceny, viz. :— A mare ass, gray colour, heavy in foal, hair worn off breast, white spot on right side, no shoes on hind feet, about 7 years old, value for £ 1 10s.; a new set of ass's tackling, brass mountings, maker's name ( Madden) on the collar; an ass's cart, newly painted, body and inside painted red, outside blue, ends of shafts black ; a lever watch. No. 445o, maker's name A. Haswell, London, value for about £ 2 ; a suit of mcti's gray tweed clothes, new ; a gray frieze napped coat, new; a dark brown tweed trowsers; a pair of white woollen drawers ; a brown round hard hat; a dark plaid shirt; a calico shirt; a green necktie; a black necktie; two pairs of white woollen socks ; a pair of gray woollen socks ; a pair of brown woollen socks ; a pair of cotton socks; two pairs of men's strong laced boots, with toccaps ; two pairs of women's strong laced boots ; a pair of new blankets ; a single blanket, new; two gray calico sheets ; a green quilt; a pair of child's small woollen socks ; a gray check apron ; a white calico apron ; a small chemise ; a small black and white jacket; a small gray jacket;. 4 a Cashmere woollen shawl, red and white colour; SW woman's dress, red colour, trimmed with velvet; a small flannel petticoat; a green plaid handkerchief; a green woollen scarf shawl; a striped skirt; a blue petticoat; a gray dress, body braided; four yards of grey calico ; one- and- a- half yards of new lilac; one- and- a- half yards of furniture cotton; three- and- a- half yards of blue cloth ; a black skirt; a brown skirt, trimmed with brown velvet; two new white flannel petticoats ; a brown muffler; a striped dress, lined with calico. Nicholas Beglan ( same offence and on the same occasion as above), not arrested ; Hue- and- Crv, 9th January, 188-''. Tipperary. DESCRIPTION of John Carthy and Michael Carthy, natives of Tipperary, who stand charged with having, on the 18th April, 1883, in the barony of Middlethird, parish of Ballysheehon, seriously assaulted William Walsh and his wife, Bridget Walsh, in their dwelling- house:— 1. ( 5904j 3^- 9108.) m DESCRIPTION of Garrett Burns, nath^ JTFACE near Cahir, Maurice Harding, native of Ballygorteen, and Garrett Cussen, native of Rossadiehid, who stan# charged with having, on the 2nd Mtrcli. 1883, in the barony of Iffa and Offa West, parish oiT emple- tenny, been three of an armed party who attached the house of Denis O'Brien, of Kiltankin :— 1. Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair, no whiskers ; wore a low jerry hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Blue eyes, Roman nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair, sandy side whiskers, shaves the rest of his face; wore a low jerry hat, brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 3. Walks with a swagger, dark eyes, rather cocked nose, dark complexion, round fat face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair, wears a black moustache, rather heavy; wore a dark tweed suit; is a carpenter. John Ryan ( waylay and assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 9th January, 1883. Tyrone. DESCRIPTION of Charles M'Dermott native of Strabane, who stands charged with having, on tho 16th April. 1883, in the barony of Upper Strabane, parish ol Upper Badoney, obtained a heifer by false pretences, and afterwards selling same in the fair 1 ol Plumbridge, and absconding with the amount:— ; Three warts under right ear adjoining cheek bone, the result of evil, shuffling swaggering gait when walking ; j large wild gray eyes, regular nose, pale yellow com- ! plexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 3u or 33 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face; wore a milky white hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest, gieasy looking and shabby; is a low cattle ' dealer. DESCRIPTION of Bella Hamilton, native of Donemanagh, who stands charged with having, on tho 28th day of March, 1883, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Leckpatrick, committed infanticide:— Light blue eyes, sharp nose, fresh complexion, thin face, very stout make, 5 feet 2J inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray shawl; is a servant. Strabane, April 0, 1883. ( 58013 c.— 4964.) Westmeath. DUBLIN cASTLE, 27th November, 1882.
