ENGLISH POLICE. DESCRIPTION of Martin M'Nulty, in custody here, charged with frequenting this borough, with intent to commit a felony on the 11th instant:— He is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark brown hair, gray eyes, fresh complexion, clean shaved, dressed in black cloth vest and frock coat, black cloth overcoat, with gray woollen lining, high silk hat, maker, Camuck and Co., Limited, Limerick, and elastic side bleck front boots ; has in his possession a small oval tin box, painted oak colour, and a green mixture carpet bag, containing under clothing, ( fee.; states that he belongs to Aclare, Kilmachine, county Sligo, where his father is a farmer, and that he left there about a month ago, but appears unwilling to give any further account of himself. From papers in his possession he appears to have been stopping in Vulcan- street, Nab- lane, Blackburn, on the 3rcl March last; he appears also to have been stopping at 5, Roundhill- place, or at 65, Tennyson- place, Otley- road, Bradford, at John Brannan's, Ilkey, and at Prestate, where he appears to have purchased a pair of trowsers from the Grand Clothing Hall Company, on 5th April, and for which he has a receipted bill; he has also the addresses of several people in America. Has the appearance of a labourer, but has evidently not done any manual labour for a considerable time; he is quite illiterate, yet states that he earns his livelihood by religion, but refuses to say in what capacity. His movements in this town were very suspicious, and it is thought probable that he may be wanted for offences elsewhere. Chief Constable's Office, Wakefield, April 13, 1883. ( 26097 M.— 48185.) £ 1,000 REWARD. WHEREAS at 9 P. M. on Thursday evening, March 15th, an explosion was caused at the offices of the Local Government Board, in Charles- street, West- minster: And whereas explosive material was placcd an hour previously in the vicinity of " The Times^ Publishing Office, Queen Victoria- street, E. C., with like felonious intent : The above reward of £ 1,000 will be paid by the Secretary of State for the Home Department to any person not being a member of a Police Force in the United Kingdom who shall give such information, private or other- wise, as shall lead to the apprehension and con viction of the perpetrator of either outrage, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's most gracious pardon, in addition to the payment of the said reward, to any accomplice not being the actual perpetrator of either outrage. Licence- holder, Philip Doyle, 14,738, has not been arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 7th November, 1882. SCOTTISH POLICE. WANTED in Aberdeen, for forging or uttering a forged Bill of Exchange for £ 185, on 2nd April, 1883, James Stewart Murrison:— Native of Aberdeen, . clerk, or private in the Royal Highlanders, 33 years of age, fresh or florid complexion, blue eyes, common nose, fair hair of a reddish tinge, reddish whiskers, small and on sides of head, if any, shaved on chin, reddish moustache, cut straight across when last seen, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout make; scars on right cheek, chin, and point of fourth finger on left hand; moles on left side of neck, inside right thigh, and under left arm- pit. He is a deserter, and although only a few months in the Army, has a smart soldier- like appearance, and is presently wanted in Perthshire, for obtaining a horse and dog- cart on false pretences. Dressed when last seen in a long dark or blue over- coat or Ulster of rough material, dark trowsers, and low round crowned billycock hat. The accused obtained eight £ 20 notes of the Aber- deen Town and County Bank, and twenty- five sovereigns, on the forged bill; and, being of dissipated habits, may be found drinking at hotels or public houses, or he may endeavour to emigrate. Police officers are requested to make special search and inquiry, appre- hend and detain him if found, and telegraph to GEORGE CADENIIEAD, Esq., Procurator Fiscal, Aberdeen, or the subscriber, who will immediately send for him. B The man above described is believed to be the same person who is charged with another offence by the Perth Police, and whose description from that force, as James Stuart, also appears in this issue. PERTHSHIRE POLICE. WANTED here, under a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with having, on the 15th March last, obtained on hire from a firm of horse- hirers in Perth, a horse and dog- cart, on the false representation that he was a servant to a Captain J. S. Burton, of the Royal Engineers, James Stuart:— A private in the Royal Highlanders ( Black Watch), stationed at Perth, native of Aberdeen, 26 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches in height, fair hair inclined to red, little or no whiskers, small fair moustache, conspicuous scar on chin, speaks with Scotch accent, smart soldier- like appearance, and is well educated. Dressed when last seen in the uniform of his regiment, and was wearing his great coat. He enlisted at Newcastle- on- Tyne, on the 21st November, 1882, and is now a deserter from his regiment. Description of Horse and Dog- Cart— A light brown nine- year- old horse, nearly 16 hands high, two white fetlocks, a little flat on near side, having once two ribs broken ; wore set of silver- mounted harness, nearly new. A four- wheeled small- sized dog- cart, light weight, almost new, blue painted with white lines, blue fittings, top of dash- board silver- plated ; motto, " Follow me " engraved on back, wheel caps stamped— supposed " Peddie, Kilmarnock;" also an ordinary carriage whip, horse- rug, and two water- proof aprons. Accused drove south by Auchterarder, Stirling, and Linlithgow, and presenting letters to hotel keepers, purporting to be from Captain Burton, Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, he was put up for a night at each of those towns. He has not since been heard of, and it is supposed the liorse and trap will now be sold. Police officers are requested to make special search and inquiry for the accused, also for the horse and dog- cart; and, if found, to detain and wire to the subscriber. A PROCLAMATION By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor Of Ireland. SPENCER. W nEREAS by our Proclamation, dated the 9th May, 1881, We offered a reward of Ten Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, andThomas Honry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, < 5n the 6th, May, F882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving suc'i information has expired : Now We, the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland, are pleased to renew the said offer, and We do hereby offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of any of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the same period, lead to the same result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from the scene on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Now We are also pleased hereby to offer to any person concerned in or privy to these Murders ( not being one of the above- mentioned four Murderers) who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. And We are further pleased to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any such person concerned in or privy to these Murders, who shall, within the said last- mentioned period, give such private information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, or of any other person concerned in or privy to the Murders. AND We are further pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murders, or of the horse and car used on the occasion, such last- mentioned reward of Five Hundred Pounds to he paid upon the information being corroborated to Our satisfaction by other information in Our possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And We hereby premise that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private iniormation shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache; brown faded coat, as if IT1Uch exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small darl; moustache, no whiskers ; soft black hat and dark clothes. 4. About 30 years, sandy hair ar 1(] moustache, beard on chin ; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the - car had either a dark green or a red panel, The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. A PROCLAMATION. By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPENCER. WHEREAS Mr. Denis J. Field, of Westmoreland street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, feloniously and malici- ously stabbed and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on an out side car which was waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place : Now, We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- land, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the offenders and their accomplices, hereby offerva reward of• FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within three months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the said offenders or their accomplices, or any of them. And a further reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the said period, lead to the same result. And We hereby promise that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to the said reward for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having any information to give, may communicate it to the Assistant Under Secretary for Police and Crime, Dublin Castle, to the Super- intendent of the Detective Department of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, Dublin Castle, or to any other Government official in Great Britain or Ireland. Given at Dublin Castle, this 28th day of November 1882. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Mary Egan, 2428, convicted in the county of the city of Dublin, at the Commission, on 4th June, 1878, for felony of three coats, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude:— 65 vears of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, widow, is a dealer, was born in Limerick, resided before conviction in Dublin, her friends reside at Limerick; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, light eyebrows, short nose, medium mouth, fresh • complexion, broad and long visage, burn mark on right temple, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high. This convict was discharged from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 20th November, 1882, and went to Dublin. She left her residence, 91, Coombe, without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and her present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 < fc 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 26061 M.— 48109.) Mary Quinn ( infanticide), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd February, 1883. English Police Supervisee, Henry Naylor, 11291, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th January, 1883. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Armagh. Arthur Hagan ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 6th April, 1883. Cavan. DESCRIPTION of a male ass, the property of Owen Fitzpatrick, which was stolen from his stable at Drumacon, parish ef Drumlane, barony of Lower Loughtee, on the night of 9th or morning of 10th instant:— A gray he- ass, has right hind shoe off, 5 years old ; value for £ 3 10j. Killeshandra, April 12, 1883. ( 58043 c.— 5021.) Clare. DUBLIN CASTLE, 6th December, 1882. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 2nd February, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as wonld lead to the conviction of the person or porsons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in the county of Clare, on the night of the 24th January, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving • uch information has expired : And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, 6hall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. Hifr Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in, or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons whe actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, concerned in this Murder, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a, reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murder, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Pounds to be paid upon the information being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information in His Excellency's possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having information to give may com- municate it to R. D. Crotty, Esq., Resident Magis- trate at Ennistymon; to Owen Wynne, Esq., Sub- Inspector, Royal Irish Constabulary, at Ennistymon, or to any other Government Official in Great Britain or Ireland. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. Bridget Brew, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, has not yet been found. Cork. DESCRIPTION of William Hourihan, native of Dunmanway, who stands charged with having, on the 4th April, 1883, in the barony of Kinalmeaky, parish of Kilbrogan, in his possession a heifer supposed to have been stolen:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a black soft jerry hat, black coat, trowsers, and vest. Description of the heifer ;— Bed and white much mixed, white belly, poor condition, about 1 year old; worth abouf £ 5 10*. to £ 6. Bandon, April 9, 1883. ( 55972 c.— 8964.) DESCRIPTION of John Dwyer, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th March, 1883, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Ardna- geeliy, stolen a dark tweed frock coat, a pair of bellows- tongued boots, and a pair of gray worsted stockings, the property of Thomas Phibbs, of Bridestown, in whose house he had lodged during two previous days :— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, no beard or whiskers, soldierlike ; left a pair of old military boots marked G. Skelton, No. 311; supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes. Warrant issued. Fermoy, March 17, 1883. ( 55862 c.— 8765.) Down. DESCRIPTION of William John Murphy, native of Ballynahinch, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1883, in the barony of Kinalarty, parish of Magheradrool, stolen two cows, the property of James Irwin, from his cow- house, at Creevytenant, near Ballynahinch. The cows were found in Murphy's yard, in Belfast -.— Mark of a sore on left cheek from bite of an ass, on which there is a scab, hard lump on forefinger of left hand from scutching, old cuts on right hand, brown eyes, long nose, dirty sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 38 years of age, brown hair; is a scutcher, and deals in paraffin oil. May work in scutch mills in Down, Antrim, and Armagh. When last seen was wearing a loose brown top coat, soft hat, and shoes. Downpatrick, April 5,1883. ( 56468 c.— 4926.) DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who is suspected with having, on the night of 22nd or morning of 23rd instant, in the barony of Kinalarty, parish of Magheradrool, stolen two cows, the property of James Irwin, from his cowhouse at Creevytenant:— Shaved face and brown moustache, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age; wore a brown cap and coat, white muffler, and cap on side of head ; appeared like a drover or townsman. Downpatrick, March 28, 1883. ( 56468 v.— 4866.) Patrick Doyle, described in last Hue- and- Cry, has been found. — Dublin. • DESCRIPTION of Mary M'Cabe, native of Barnaculla, who stands charged with having, on the 26th March, 1883, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Kilgobbin, stolen £ 32 in notes, the property of her father, Peter M'Cabe, from his dwelling house, at Barnaculla:— Mole on left cheek, high mouth, gray eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a white straw hat with red flower in front, gray serge dress, gray Ulster cloak, elastic side boots nearly new, is a labourer. Warrant in the hands of the Constable at Stepaside. Dundrum, April 3, 1883. ( 57403 C.— 6631.) Fermanagh. Jane Clingan ( robbery), has been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th instant. Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9tli June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person orpersons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or her house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, any of the persons who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Finnerty, native of Clough, who stands charged with having, on the 9th March, 1883, in the barony of Tiaquin, parish of Cloonkeen, while of unsound mind, attempted to assault his wife. He left his home about the 15th inst., was seen at Mountbellew, on the 18th inst., and it is believed he has met with some evil end. He had £ 30 in his pocket, and is much afraid of being poisoned:— Blue eyes, short pointed nose, fresh complexion, full broad face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 47 years of age, brown hair turning gray, small side whiskers, no moustache; wore a frieze Repeal coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is a small farmer. The man, name and native place unknown ( serious assault on a policeman), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd December, 1882. John Kennedy ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and Cry, 30th January, 1883. i I THE POLICE Kildare. DESCRIPTION' of Thomas Sex, native of Rickards town, who stands charged with having, on the 21st of March, 1883, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Ballysax, failed to appear at Petty Sessions in accordance with his recognizance to answer a charge of larceny:— Fair complexion, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 47 years of age, brown hair; wore an old jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a small farmer. Kildare, March 23, 1883. ( 57348 c.— 6536.) DESCRIPTION of Myles Farrell, native of Allenwood, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of March, 1883, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, assaulted Catherine Walshe:— Fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, barragon trowsers, and white sleeved vest; is likely to be found near the turf market, Dublin ; is a labourer. Naas, March 19, 1883. ( 57332 c.— 6510.) Mathew Smith ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. William Tegan ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th March, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown, described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th March, 1883, ( intimidation), not arrested. Kilkenny. • DESCRIPTION of Thomas Watson, native of Ballina- sloe, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of March, 1883, in the borough of Kilkenny, parish of St. Canice, stolen an ass, cart, and harness, the property of John Nolan, of Ballyfoyle, out of a yard in Green- street, Kilkenny city. The ass, cart, and harness have been recovered at Tullow, county Carlow, where Watson pawned the harness, sold the cart, and offered the ass for sale. ( See Hue- and- Cry, dated 23rd March, 1883):— Tattooed anchor on back of right hand, has habit of shaking his head as if from constitutional causes, speaks hurriedly and in a grating voice, blue eyes, long nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 55 years of age, gray hair, and short gray whiskers ; wore a hard jerry hat, short blue torn coat, and brown tweed trowsers broken on knees ; is a drover. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, supposed native of Drogheda, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of March, 1883, at Collon, in the barony of Ferrard, parish of Collon, stolen a yearling bullock, the property of A. H. Wynne, Esq., J. P., which he sold to John Brady, of Newtown, and which has since been returned to the owner:— Gray eyes, N regular nose, florid complexion, thin face, slight make, 4 feet 9 inches high, about 14 or 15 years of age, brown hair; wore a black cap much worn, brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest, white muffler, and old elastic boots; is a cattle drover. DESCRIPTION of James Ruddy, native of Doogort East, who stands charged with having, on the 5th April, 1883, in the barony of Burrishoole, parish of Achill, seriously assaulted Patrick Grealish, thereby placing his life in danger;— Good- looking, smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Edward Doocy and John M'Intyre, natives of Gortbrack, who stand charged with having, on the 15th March, 1883, in the barony of Erris, parish of Kilcommon, seriously assaulted Peter Caulfield :— 1. Has fair side whiskers and fair moustache, blue or gray eyes, sharp pointed nose, pale complexion, regular face, very stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a soft black hat, blue frieze coat, plaid trowsers and vest; is a labourer. 2. Slovenly gait, bends forward when walking, gray eyes, slightly hooked nose, fair complexion, regular face, very slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a soft black hat, blue, frieze coat, plaid trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Little, native of Dollards- town, who stands charged with having, on the llth April, 1883, in the barony of Skreen, parish of Tara, stolen, £ 23, in notes and gold, from his employer, Richard Wilkinson, of Castleboy:— Gray or blue eyes, large nose, fresh complexion, full fat face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a brown hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Doyle ( mother's sur- name Doyle), native of Cappalisheen, who stands charged with having, on the 24th March, 1883, in the barony of Athlone, parish of Kiltoom, stolen the sum of i' 6 from the dwelling- house of William Bades, Curnaseer, Athlone — Dart eyes," slightly cocked nose, yellow complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 18 years of age ; wore a light tweed coat, much too large for him, and old cord trowsers ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of John Goff, native place unknown, who stands charged on remand until 21st instant with having, on the- 6th March, 1883, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, * assaulted and robbed one Patt Spellman of a purse containing £ 3 :— Delicate appearance, short cropped whiskers, gray eyes, thin nose, pale complexion, small face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 55 years of age, gray hair ; wore a round hard hat, light tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and cloth vest; pretends to be a horse dealer. DESCRIPTION of Garrett Burns, native place near Cahir, Maurice Harding, native of Ballygorteen, and Garrett Cussen, native of Rossadrehid, who stand charged with having, on the 2nd March. 1883, in the barony of Iffa and Offa West, parish of Temple- tenny, been three of an armed party who attacked the house of Denis O'Brien, of Kiltankin :— 1. Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair, no whiskers ; wore a low jerry hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Blue eyes, Roman nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair, sandy side whiskers, shaves the rest of his face; wore a low jerry hat, brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 3. Walks with a swagger, dark eyes, rather cocked nose, dark complexion, round fat face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair, wears a black moustache, rather heavy ; wore a dark tweed suit; is a carpenter. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 26th May, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Two Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of Mrs. Henry Smythe, in the demesne at Barbavilla, in the county of Westmeath, on the 2nd April, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired: And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them concerned in this Murder a A FREE PARDON and the special protection oj the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a Reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder.
