Information to James Terry, Chief Constable, Police Office, Town Hall, BRIGHTON.— Bow street, March 30. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 9 p. m. ar. d 10 p. m. on 31st ultimo :— a Cash Box, containing £ 17 in Gold, 8s. in Silver, and 3s. in Copper, at the Mainwaring Arms public- house, at Peover, near Knutsford. The Cash Box was found on the highway the following morning, about 200 yards from the house where the robbery took place. Information^ to Mr. Supt. Leighton, AI. TRINCIIAM. — Bow- street, April - l. Also from the dwelling- house of Owen Gurtan :— an old pair- cased silver verge Watch, No. 1711, maker's name sup- posed to be Browuings ; an old gold wedding Ring, brolren in two places ; and an old gold wedding Ring, broken in one place. During the night of 29th ultimo, the Station Hotel, Wavendon, was feloniously entered and a Bottle of Sherry; a Tin of O^ bourne Biscuits ; an old pair of Boots, and a few Cigarettes stolen therefrom :— supposed by a tramp ( who Sold the stolen boots at Newport Pagnall the following morning), about 21 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark complexion, has a scar from abscess, supposed ou left cheek, dark hair cut short, no beard or whiskers ; dressed in old brown cloth cap, with peak, dirty grey coat, and old dark trousers. Stolen by means of burglary, during the night of 29th ultimo, from the office at the Great Western Railway Station at Wilton, Midaomer Norton :— a gold chased Pencil Case ; and a pair of man's elastic- side Boots, toe caps, buttpns on side, nearly new. Information to Sergeant Edward Tucker, Somerset Constabulary, MIDSOMER NORTON.— Bow- st., April 2 Wanted on suspicion of burglary, near Pontypridd, on 30th ultimo, and stealing therein about .£ 50 in Gold and Silver :— a man, 25 to 28 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, cut short, dark eyes, short dark moustache, and sores or boils both sides of neck ; dressed in a round bowler hat, short dark cloth coat, cut round in front, dark vest and trousers, all about half worn. He is a native of London, but came from Portsmouth three days ago, and worked for that time as a shoemaker at Porth; he left Porth at 5 p. m. During the evening of 24th instant, the dwelling- house 51, Hope- road, ' Sale, was broken and entered by a man, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes, dark monkey jacket, and round hard billycock hat. Stolen during the night of 18th ultimo :— a dark bay Mare, 5 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, short black mane, star on forehead, scratched inside hock, tail docked and in fair condition. Stolen during the night of 25th ultimo, from a field at Bellandu, Llanllugan :— two mountain Ponies, the one a light bay Mare, 6 years old, 11 hands high, tail cut square, aud short mane ; the other a dark brown yearling filly, mixture of grey hairs OD the nose ; both unshod. Stolen at Drayton Bassett, near Tamworth, between 4 p. m. 25th aud 2 p. m. 26th inBtant:— a yearling wether Sheep, Shropshire bteed, black face and legs, with red raddle mark on top of rump. Information to Inspector StrettOE, Police Station, TAMWORTH.— Boxc- street, March 30. Charged with stealing a Pony, a set of brass- mounted Harnes", and a small tilted Van ( all recovered):— CHARLES 2 POLICE GAZETTE April 6 MAY, alias MILL YARD, from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, brown hair, full whiskers and moustache ; generally wears a dark overcoat. Took his wife atd six children, also some household goods with him, and was traceed to Fareham, which he left on Sunday evening, at 5 p. m., with pony and van, his wife and children not being then with him. Information to Mr. Supt. Clarke, County Police Station, CHICHESTER, who holds a warrant.— Bow- street, March 28. Stolen from Northstead Farm, Chelsfield, Kent, about 9 p. m. on 20th instant :— 3 fat wether teg Sheep, West Down breed, marked ' D ' in a circle with a coronet above iu black paint or varnish. Three men with a grey pony and small dark colour square cart, with the name ' Thomas Baker, potatoe dealer, Deptford ( or Dartford),' were seen hovering about the neighbourhood several hours on the afternoon pre- vious : one man, the principal, is said to be about 40 years of age, medium height, stout build, no whiskers, and swarthy complexion ; dressed in a greyish waterproof or short ulster, low hard felt hat, and blue and white silk neckerchief ; one was a tall elderly mm, and the other was younger than the first described. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Stolen between 31st ultimo and 2nd instant:— an Adze ; a Brace and thirteen Bits ; a Spirit Level, steel bottom and brass top ; a 1-^- inch Chisel ; a Jack Plane ; and a pair of Compasses. By a man, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches, high, rather slight build, dark complexion, and small dark moustache ; is wearing a pair of snuff- coloured trousers, light lace- tp boots, black hard hat, and will be wearing the coat and vest, as he left his ol d ones behind ; he has relatives in the neighbourhood of Shrewsbury, and is believed to belong to the Denbighshire Militia. Information to Chief Constable Harrop, Borough Police Office, SHREWSBURY. — Bow- street, April 6. Stolen at Wisbeach St. Mary's, on 2nd instant:— a pair of men's strong lace- up Boots ( nearly new), with brass eyelet holes and three or four hooks at the top. By a tramping labourer, about 24 or 25 years of ag, e, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and ginger moustache; dressed in old light cloth suit, laced boots, ana cap. May be wearing the stolen boots. Has talked about Leicestershire. Was last seen near Peterborough, on 2nd instant. Information to Mr. Supt. Joseph Anker, WISBEACH, Isle of Ely.— Bow- street, April 6. Absconded, 22nd nit., charged with stealing £ 93 13s. 7d.: — WILLIAM ALDERMAN GRIMWOOD, late Head Teacher, Heneage- street Board School, Spitalfields, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale complexion, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, bald top of head, blue eyes, large feet ; dressed in dark grey suit, black hard felt hat. War- rant issued. Information to the Director of Criminal Inves- tigation?, GREAT SCOTLAND YARD, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, April 6. Wanted in Stockport under warrant, charged with steal- ing a quantity of Watches and other Jewellery during the last 5 weeks : — JOHN HEALEY, a tramping watch repairer, about 5 j ears of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, sandy moustache and side whiskers, fall eyes, sharp featured, has a receding or Lefroy chin, i lightly pockpitted down side of nose ; dressed in dark clothes, black hard felt hat, all very shabby ; he is accompanied by a female, whom he calls his wife, about 21 years of age, 4 ft. 6 or 8 inches high, and fresh complexion ; dressed in black jacket, black hat, and old boots. Healey is supposed to be a native of Patricroft, Lancashire, and has worked at Barro- v- in- Furness, Aahton- under- Lyne, and several other neighbour- ing towns. Wanted under a warrant charged with embezzlement:— ARTHUR DANIELS, 27 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair, oval features, slight moustache and whiskers, stoutish build ; supposed dressea in dark round jacket, dark trousers and vest, boots, and black hard felt hat, native of Manchester, a commercial traveller, and was formerly in the employ of the Bridgewater Naviga- tion Company, at Manchester. Was in Manchester on 1st instant. His father resides at 110, Water Street, Manchester, his wife at 118, Clopton Street, Great Jackson Street, Man- chester, and his sister- in- law at 86, Church Street, Hulme. Information to F. B. Staples, Lt.- Col, Chief Constable, Boro' Police Office, STOCKPORT.— Bow- street, April 6. The tramping miller advertised in the Police Gazette of 27th ultimo, has been arrested and remanded until 9th inst. : — his name is HENRY WICKENS, 31 years of age, 5 feet 8J inches high, blue eyes, light hair, moustache, and whiskers ou chin. States he was born at Chiddingly, Sussex, and has a brother who lives at Low Decknt Mill, near Lewes. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. J. Burnistbn, East Riding Constabulary, SPROATLEY, Hull.— Bow- itreet, April 4. Charged with embezzlement:— WM. A. FOXHALL, butler, 35 years of age ( looks younger), 5 feet 9 oi 10 inches high, fresh complexion, thin face, large narrow nose, pro- minent bridge, small mouth, which displays teeth, brown hair, no hair on face, and proportionate build ; dresses well, and is of good appearance ; has friends living in Cannon Mews, Palace Yard, S. W., and at 27, Adam Street, Portman Square, London, also in Allendale, Northumberland, aud at Newry; has been seen in Dublin, Liverpool, and . London, and passed under the name of Coleman. Information to Mr. Supt. Irwin, WORKSOP, Notts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 4. Description of FRANK ROBERTSON, alia* BAKER, a draper's assistant, wanted at Chelmsford, charged on warrant with stealing the sum of £ 450, on 30th ultimo, about 24 yrs. of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light brown hair, light coloured heavy moustache, has a deei> furrow down centre of forehead, heavy eyebrows, very small feet; wearing a low- crowned black hat with wide brim, navy blue serge trousers, braided down sides, and black morning coat; he is well educated and is of gentlemanly and plausible address, and appeared to have good knowledge of a draper's business. Often wears a tliamoud ring on his finger, aud on his scaif a gold ring with large diamond in centre and a 3mall diamond on each side of it. Has talked of going to A ustralia and New Zealand. By a man who is supposed to be making into Lancashire, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 - or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, dark whiskers on cheeks, propor- tionate figure ; dressed in long blue cloth coat, dirty moleskin trousers, fiard black felt hat; has the appearance of a mechanic or respectable labourer, may be wearing part of the stolen proport;;. Sup- posed by a man, 38 or 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, light complexion, light hair, stout figure, a tramping labourer ; dressed in old cord trousers, large patch on one knee, fustian or twilled jacket, old half boots, and woollen cap, peak front aud behind. Information to| Mr. Supt. Baldwin, GUESTLING, East Sussex Constabulary.— Bow- street, April 2. Stolen on 27th instant:— a balf- hoop diamond Ring, set with 5 stones. By a man and woman who went into the shop to look at some rings and abstracted the Ring described, and left a paste one in its place. The woman is about 55 years of age, tall and very stout; dressed in black. The man is about the same age, not so tall as the woman, slight build, slightly pockmarked ; dressed in an overcoat and high hat. Both of very genteel appearance. Stolen at Skelmersdale at 7 a m. on 26th instant:— a pair of men's elastic sidt Boots, with toecaps, size 6, had several protectors on heels and soles, also a pair of men's black [ ar. d grey woollen Socks, knitted by hand, in rings. By a man about 21 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, small moustache, no whiskers, lias a beard of about a weeks growth, and is rathei round shouldered ; dressed in dark grey coat, moleskin or corduroy trousers, cap, and stroug lace- up boots, far worn. Has worked in Skelmersdale as a drawer for about 6 weeks, and is supposed to be wanted at West Leigh, under a warrant for being drunk and riotous. He came to < tfcis town about a month since and took a shop, which he fitted up as a confectioners, engaged several young women as assistants ( from one of whom he stole a gold ring, found pawned) and o- the day before the shop was to be opened, he had the eoods sent to him, and absconded with them. He went from Exeter to Paddington by night mail on 21st instant, and having no money to pay his fare, he was allowed to proceed on depositing goods with the company's servants, the fare being afterwards paid at 109, Hunger ford Road, Camberwell Road, London, in the name of Webster.
