All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspoctor- Gcneral. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, o. 140, s. 44,) only permits tho insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of - Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. Should irrogularitios arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, MARCH 27, 1883. ENGLISH POLICE. £ 1,000 REWARD. WHEREAS at 9 r. ii. on Thursday evening, March 16th, an explosion was caused at the offices of the Local Government Board, in Charles- street, West- minster: And whereas explosive material was placed an hour previously in the vicinity of " The Times" Publishing Office, Queen Victoria- street, E. O., with like felonious intent: The above reward of £ 1,000 will be paid by the Secretary of State for the Home Department to any person not being a member of a Polico Force in the United Kingdom who shall give such information, private or other- wise, as shall lead to tho apprehension " and con- viction of the perpetrator of either outrage, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's most gracious pardon, in addition to the payment of the said reward, to any accomplice not being the actual perpetrator of either outrage. Licence- holder, Philip Doyle, 14,738, has not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 7th November, 1882. SCOTTISH POLICE. WANTED, at Stirling, on a charge of rape and murder, committed near Lennoxtown, in the parish of Campsie, in this county, between Saturday night, 17th, and Sunday morning, 18th March current:— James Brown, a navvy, aged about 50 years, height about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches, complexion ruddy, brownish hair well mixed with gray, cut short at back of head, hair thin on crown, round shouldered and stoops for- ward, whiskers, beard, and moustache shaved off, stoutish make, one or two of the fingers on one of his hands supposed to be stiff or bent at the first joint. Dressed in an old blue pilot jacket, very much faded and worn; mended on sleeves and wristbands with darkish cloth, the patches being sewn on by himself in a very coarse manner. Old dirty moleskin trowsers, patched and mended on knees, and fork- raised seam down each leg. Old dirty moleskin vest, double- breasted, with mole- skin back, white buttons, several awanting, 3 or 4 inches longer in front than back, patched and darned, outside breast pocket sewed up. His clothing is all in very bad order, and little better than a vagrant's. A dark checked tweed cap, with ears tied on top, large peak. A cotton handkerchief of different colours, with seam in centre. A gray wincey shirt, Shetland socks, fur and rig; a pair of twilled tweed cotton drawers, in good order. A pair of new tacketed boots, purchased ten days ago- The accuscd who is a native of Ireland, and speaks with an Irish accent, has been employed at the Kirkintilloch Waterworks since August last, and absconded immediately after committing the crime. He will likely be found under an assumed name. The accused may be found working at quarries, railways, waterworks, docks, or at any place where navvies are employed; and the police and others are earnestly requested to have particular search and * inquiry made for the accused, and, if found, to have him detained, and any information which may lead to his apprehension to be communicated to the Procurator- Fiscal, County Buildings, Stirling, or the Chief Constable. WASTED here on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with forging the signature of James Jackson, painter, 68, Renfrew- street, to a bill for £ 110, John Smillie, lately a tea merchant in Waterloo- street:— About 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark hair, dark moustache and whiskers, no beard, full round face, fresh complexion, and slender make; dresses generally in a blue cloth jacket suit, and felt hat, speaks with Scotch accent. Accused absconded about the end of December last, and was seen in London since then. He may have commenced business as a tea dealer. Information to the Chief Constable, Glasgow. Glasgow, Matoh 1- fiJ 885. ( 25855 M.- 47886.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. A PROCLAMATION By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPEnCER. WHEREAS by our Proclamation, dated the 9th May, 1881, We offered a reward of Ten Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on the 6th, May, 1883.: And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : Now We, the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland, are pleased to renew the said offer, and We do hereby offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of any of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the same period, lead to the same result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from the scene on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Now We are also pleased hereby to offer to any person concerned in or privy to these Murders ( not being one of the above- mentioned four Murderers) who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. And We are further pleased to offer a reward ol ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any such person concerned in or privy to these Murders, who shall, within the said last- mentioned period, give such private information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, or of any other person concerned in or privy to the Murders. AND We are further pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murders, or of the horse and car used on the occasion, such last- mentioned reward of Five Hundred Pounds to be paid upon the information being corroborated to Our satisfaction by other information in Our possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And We hereby promise that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private iniormation shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire Any person having any information to give, may communicate it to the Assistant Under Secretary for Police and Crime, Dublin Castle, to the Superinten- dent of the Detective Department of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, Dublin Castle, or to any other Government official in Great Britain or Ireland. Given at Dublin Castle, this 10th day of November, 1882. DESCRIPTION of the four men, wanted for the murder of Lord F. Cavendish and Mr. Burke, the Chief and Under Secretaries for Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, on Saturday, 6th May, 1882, between 7 and 8 P. M.: 1. About 85 years old, stout make, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache recently clipped, so as to give a bristling appearance, narrow forehead, natural hollow or dinge on bridge of nose; wore a soft black jerry hat and dark clothes. 3. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache; brown faded coat, as if much exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small dark moustache, no whiskers ; soft black hat and dark clothes. 4. About 30 years, sandy hair and moustache, heard on chin ; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The height cannot be given of any, all being sitting on an outside car, drivfita by a man between 36 and 40 years, red bloated face, with a few days' growth of beard on; dark or brown coat, supposed frieze, and low soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the car had either a dark green or a red panel. The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. A PROCLAMATION. By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPENCER. WHEREAS Mr. Denis J. Field, of Westmoreland street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, feloniously and malici- ously stabbed and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on an out- side car which was waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place: Now, We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- land, for the better apprehending and bringing for such private in said period, load to the same result, And We hereby promise that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to the said reward for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner ip which such person shall desire. * Any person having any information to give, may communicate it to the Assistant Under Secretary for Police and Crime, Dublin Castle, to the Super- intendent of the Detective Department of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, Dublin Castle, or to any other Government official in Great Britain or Ireland. Given at Dublin Castle, this 28th day of November 1882. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. Mary Quinn ( infanticide), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd February, 1883. English Police Supervisee, Henry Naylor, 11291, not arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 10th January, 1883. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Armagh. DESCRIPTION of Arthur Hagan, native of Drumkerin, who stands charged with liaving, on the 27th Febru- ary, 1883, in the barony of Armagh, parish of Armagh, violently assaulted one Richard Campbell, so as to endangor his lifo:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard bluck hat, dark coat, gray trowsers and vest. Armagh, March 5, 1883. " ( 56401 c.— 4734.) Clare. DUBLIN CASTLE, 6th December, 1882. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 2nd Februniy, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited timo therein specified, give such information as would load to th< j conviction of tho porson or porsons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in tho county of Clare, on tho night of the 24th January, 1882 » And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any porson or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in, or privy to the said Murder, other than tho person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall load to the conviction of the porson or persons, or any of them, concerned in this Murder, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Hor Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to tho Murdor, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Peunds to be paid upon the information being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information in His Excellency's possession, oven though no person should be made amenable to justioo as a result thereof. And nis Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not bo disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall bo paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. on, Britain mmand, C. HAMILTON. ndget Brew, native of Furroor, ands charged with having, about twelve months ago, attempted to commit suicide, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clondegad :— High teeth, blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, red face, slender make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 40 or 45 years of age, black hair; wore a black cloth cloak, blue or brown flannel dress. This woman is insane, and it is supposed she is travelling through the countiy as a beggar since she left her own home on 22nd February, 1883. Ennis, March 11,1883. ( 55831 c.— 8705.) DESCRIPTION of James Kelly ( supposed fictitious) ( mother's surname O'Hara), native of Killasser, near Swinford, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st March, 1883, in the barony of Tulla Upper, parish of Feakle, failed to give a satisfactory account of himself, and has been re- manded for eight days pending inquiries, as he may have committed some crime :— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a low round hat, brown tweed frock coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, military boots, marked North Hampshire, 934; also wore as drawers a military trowsers, marked 934, and a military shirt; is a stone mason. Tulla, March 2, 1883. ( 55803 c.— 8653.) Cork. DESCRIPTION of John Dwyer, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th March, 1883, in the barony of Barry more, parish of Avdna- geehy, stolen a dark tweed frock coat, a pair of bellows- tongued boots, and a pair of gray worsted stockings, the property of Thomas Phibbs, of Bridestown, in whose house he had lodged during two previous days :— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, no beard or whiskers, soldierlike ; left a pair of old military boots marked G. Skelton, No. 311; supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes. Warrant issued. Fermoy, March 17, 1883. (. 55862 c.— 8765.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 2nd March, 1883, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School, at Upton, county Cork :— Patrick Dorgan, 17 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inch high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, regular nose, medium mouth, scar on right eyebrow ; formerly belonged to Kyle- street, Cork, where his parents reside. The school dress consists of corduroytrowsers and sleeved corduroy waistcoat, drab tunic with leather belt, blue striped shirt, all witb Reformatory stamp ; Glengarry cap, nailed boots fastened with leather straps. This boy absconded with Michael and Patrick Heffernan and James Deegan. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the ' nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Doyle, native of Lotallion, who left his father's house, at Letallion, in the barony of Upper Iveagh, parish of Kilcoo, on 23rd February, 1883, and- has not since been heard of, and it is, therefore, thought that he may have met with foul play:— Blue eyes, short nose, fresh com- plexion, plump face, stout make, 4 feet high, about 12 years of age ; wore a black cap, dark tweed coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest, red and white spotted handkerchief round his neck; is the son of a small farmer. Rathfriland, March 4, 1883. ( 56395 c.— 4726.) Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six mouths lrom the date hereof, give such information as shall o the conviction of the person or persons, or any them, who committed the said Murders. + And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person orpersons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or her house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to eseape from justice, any of the persons who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cafferty, native of Athenry, who stands charged with having, on the 25th Feb- ruary, 1883, in the barony of Athenry, parish of Athenry, being one of a party of four persons ( three of whom . are in custody) who broke open a store, and stole a quantity of potatoes and soap therefrom :— Slovenly gait, large mouth, thick lips, gray eyes, large nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years . of age, lirovm hair; wore a rounn black hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a tinker. Athenry, March 9, 1883. ( 56704 c.— 6226.) Kerry. DESCRIPTION of Jeremiah Sullivan, native of Reen, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of March, 1883, in the barony of Dunkerron South, parish of Templenoe, feloniously stabbed one John Sullivan ( Blooman), with a penknife, from the effects of which he died immediately:— Bald on top of head, two teeth out one side of mouth, moustache and light side whiskers turning gray, blue eyes, broad nose, fair complexion, rough face and neck, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer ( was in the militia). Will endeavour to go to England. Kenmare, March 20, 1883. ( 55889 c.— 8816.) Timothy Sullivan ( assault by stabbing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 9th January, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown ( serious assault on a policeman), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd December, 1882. John Kennedy ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 30th January, 1883. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Sex, native of Rickards- town, who stands charged with having, on the 21st of March, 1883, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Ballysax, failed to appear at Petty Sessions in accordance with his recognizance to answer a charge of larceny:— Fair complexion, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 47 years of age, brown hair; wore an old jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a small farmer. DESCRIPTION of an ass, the property of David Dunne, of Kilmeague, which was stolen off the public road at Kilmeague, in the parish of Kilmeague, barony, of Connell, on the 18th March, 1883:— A mare ass, gray colour, heavy in foal, no shoes on tha hind feet, 7 years old, the hair worn off her breast by the collar, white spot on right side, a little white on the forehead ; value for £\ 10s. DESCRIPTION of Myles Farrell, native of Allenwood, who stands charged with having, on tbe 13th day of March, 1883, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, assaulted Catherine Walshe:— Fair complexion, stout rnako, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 20 years of ago, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, barragon trowsers, and white sleeved vest; is likely to be found near tho turf market, Dublin ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Mathew Smith ( mother's surname Casey), native of Ballymore- Eustace, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of December, 1882, in the barony of South Naas, parish of Ballymore- Eustace, assaulted Mary Anne Mullally with intent to ravish:— Slightly freckled, smart active nppearance, gray oyes, short nose, sallow com- plexion, round facc, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 17 years of age, brown hair; wore a small black jerry hat, brownish coat, trowsers, and vest; is an assistant in blacksmith's forge. DESCRIPTION of William Tegan, native of Derry- oughter, who stands charged with having, on the Btli day of March, 1883-, in the barony of West Offaly, parish of Ballybracken,' attempted to com- mit a rape on one Dorah Dowling:— High cheek bones, sallow complexion, smooth face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; woro a soft hat and blue pilot overcoat; is a labourer. Kildare, March 12, 1883. ( 57289 c.— 6439.) DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of March, 1883, in tho barony of Carbury, parish of Kilpatrick, met the post boy and threatened him if ho brought any more letters to the people of Killina from Carbury:— Shaves all his face; dark complexion, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of ago; wore a soft hat, brown tweed coat, and cord trowsers. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Moronoy ( mother's surname Whelan), native of Cappamore, who stands charged with having, on tho evening of the .17th March, 1883, in tho barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted Patrick Lonergan, of Gurtnagarde, by fracturing his skull with stones, thereby placing his life in danger:— High cheek bones and sunken jaws, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 0 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair ; woro a soft black hat, black tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. New Pallas, March 18, 1883. ( 55808 c.— 8778.) The four persons, names and native places un- known ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, 1883. Louth. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, supposed nativo of Drogheda, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of March, 1883, at Collon, in the barony of Ferrard, parish of Collon, stolen a yearling bullock, the property of A. H. Wynne, Esq., J. P., which he sold to John Brady, of Newtown, and which has since been returned to tho owner;— Gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, thin face, slight make, 4 feet 9 inches high, about 14 or 15 years of age, brown hair; wore a black cap much worn, brown twoed coat, tweed trowsers and vest, white muffler, and old elastic boots; is a cattle drover. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Keely ( mother's surname Fortescuo), native of Knockncleeva, who stands charged with having, on the 16th December, 1882, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Peter's, feloniously and maliciously set fire to the dwelling- house of one Patrick Boden, with intent to defraud " The West of England Fire and Life Insurance Company" :— Gray eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a black jerry hat, dark tweed frock coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a grocer's shop assistant. He was bound by recognizance to appear and take his trial ot Drogheda, at Drogheda Assizes, on 5th March, 1883, but failed to do so. DESCRIPTION of Edward Doocy and John M'Intyre, natives of Gortbrack, who stand charged with having, on tho 15th March, 1883, in the barony of Erris, parish of Kilcommon, seriously assaulted Peter Caulfield :— 1. Has fair side whiskers fair moustache, blue or gray eyes, sharp pointed nose, pale complexion, regular face, very stout maki^^ T feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a srift black hat, blue frieze coat, plaid trowsers and vest; is a labourer. 2. Slovenly gait, bends forward when walking, gray ' eyes, slightly hooked nose, fair complexion, regular face, very slight make, 5 feet 8 inchgshigh, about 24 years of age; wore a soft black hat, blue, frieze coat, plaid trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Michael M'Namara ( mother's sur- name Caulfield, native of Coogue Middle, who stands charged on suspicion with having, on the night of the 23rd February, 1882, in the barony of Costello, parish of Bekan, being one of an armed party who entered the house of David Freely, of Brackloughboy, and murdered his son, Patrick Freely:— Clean face without any beard or whiskers, brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexi in, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; wore a round hard hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Margaret Walsh, native of Tully, who left her home on 11 th February, 1883, in the barony of Trough, parish of Donagh, and it is feared that she may have met with foul play:— Odd- looking, being a person of rather weak intellect, blue eyes, regular nese, fair complexion, round face, medium moke, 5 feet high, about 25 or 26 years of age, dark hair ; wore a gray Ulster and a black hat with red feathers ; is a farmer's daughter.
