SPEnCER. x •\\ HKREAS by our Proclamation, dated the 9th May, 188i, Wo offered a reward of Ten Thousand Pounds to ar. y person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would load to the conviction of the Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the . Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on the, 6th, May, 1882: And whereas the time therein specified for giving suoh information has expired : Now We, the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland, aro pleased to renew the said offor, and Wo do hereby offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of any of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the same period, lead to the sanio result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from tho scene on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Now Wc are also pleased hereby to offer to any person concerned in or privy to these Murders ( not being one of the above- mentioned four Murderers) • who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. Given at Dublin Castle, this November, 1882. 10th day of DUSCMPTION of the four men, wanted for the murder of Lord F. Cavendish and Mr. Burke, the Chief and Under Secretaries for Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, on Saturday, 6th May, 1882, between 7 and 8 P. M.: 1. About 35 years old, stout make, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache recently clipped, so as to give a bristling appearanca, ^ narrow forehead, natural hollow or cunge on bridge of nose; wore a soft black jerry hat and dark clothes. 2. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache; brown faded coat, as if much exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small dark moustache, no whiskers ; soft black hat and dark clothes. 4. About 30 years, sandy hair and moustache, beard on chin; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The height cannot be given of any, all being sitting on an outside car, driven by a man between 85 and 40 years, red bloated face, with a few days' growth of beard on ; dark or brown coat, supposed frieze, and low soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the car had either a dark green or a red panel. The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Field, of Westmoreland street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, feloniously and malici- ously stabbed and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on an out- side car which was waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place: Now, We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- land, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the offenders and their accomplices, hereby offer a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within three months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the said offenders or their accomplices, or any of them. • 1 And a further reward af FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the said period, lead to the same result. DESCRIPTION of James Kelly ( supposed fictitious) ( mother's surname O'Hara), native of Killasser, near Swinford, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st March, 1883, in the barony of Tullu Upper, parish of Feakle, failed to give a satisfactory account of himself, and has been re- manded for eight days pending inquiries, as he may have committed some crime :— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a low round hat, brown tweed frock coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, military boots, marked North Hampshire, 934; also wore as drawers a military trowsers, marked 934, and a military shirt; is a stone mason. DESCRIPTION of John Dwyer, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th March, 1883, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Ardna- geehy, stolen a dark tweed frock coat, a pair of bellows- tongued boots, and a pair of gray worsted stockings, the property of Thomas Phibbs, of Bridestown, in whose house he had lodged during two previous days :— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, no beard or whiskers, soldierlike ; left a pair of old military boots marked G. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 2nd March, 1883, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School, at Upton, county Cork:— Patrick Dorgan, 17 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inch high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, regular nose, medium mouth, scar on right eyebrow; formerly belonged to Kyle- street, Cork, where his parents reside. The school dress consists of corduroytrowsers and sleeved corduroy waistcoat, drab tunic with leather belt, blue striped shirt, all with Reformatory stamp ; Glengarry cap, nail^ Hfcoots fastened with leather straps. This boy absconded with Michael and Patrick Heffernan and James Deegan. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with£ l. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Doyle, native of Letallion, who left his father's house, at Letallion, in the barony of Upper Iveagh, parish of Kilcoo, on 23rd February, 1883, and has not since been heard of, and it is, therefore, thought that he may have met with foul play:— Blue eyes, short nose, fresh com- plexion, plump face, stout make, 4 feet high, about 12 years of age ; wore a black cap, dark tweed coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest, red and white spotted handkerchief round his neck; is the son of a small farmer. M.. on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months lrom the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person orpersons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or her house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, any of the persons who committed the said Murders. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cafferty, native of Athenry, who stands charged with having, on the 25th February, 1883, in the barony of Athenry, parish of Athenry, being one of a party of four persons ( thri of whom are in custody) who broke open a store, and stole a quantity of potatoes and soap therefrom :— Slovenly gait, large mouth, thick lips, gray eyes, large nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a round black hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a tinker. DESCRIPTION of four persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 19th February, 1883, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted Denis Ryan and James Duggan :— 1. Long face, active make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 22 years of age; wore a soft jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 2. Small fair moustache and side whiskers, 5 feet 7 inches high, abeut 22 years of age; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, and gray tweed trowsers. 3. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Keely ( mother's surname Fortescue), native of Knockacleeva, who stands charged with having, on the 16th December, 1882, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Peter's, feloniously and maliciously set fire to the dwelling- house of one Patrick Boden, with intent to defraud " The West of England Fire and Life Insurance Company" :— Gray eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a black jerry hat, dark tweed frock coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a grocer's shop assistant. Ho was bound by recognizance to appear and take l, iis trial at Drogheda, at Drogheda Assizes, on 5th March, .1883, but failed to do so. Slovenly gait, bends forward when walking, gray eyes, slightly hooked nose, fair complexion, regular face, very slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a soft black hat, blue, frieze coat, plaid trowsers and vest; is a labourer. He was on bail to take filarial at Monaghan Spring Assi es, 1883, for an attempted rape;— Walks erect, smart appearance good- looking; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches Lizzie M'Grane ( robbery of wearing apparel), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd March, 1883. DESCRIPTION of John M'Clean ( name supposed to be fictitious), who stands charged, on remand, with stealing a pair of socks, on 21th inst., out of the dwelling- house of George Kinnornly, farmer, parish of Kilmanman, barony of Tinnahinch, townland of Coolagh, Queen's County :— Prominent front teeth, large thick lips, high cheek bones, gray eyes, short thick nose, dark sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, and 24 years of age, Dressed in a suit of old black tweed, much worn. DESCRIPTION of John Goff, native place unknown, who stands charged on remand until 21st instant with having, on the 6th March, 1883, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, assaulted and robbed one Patt Spellman of_" a purse containing £ 3 :— Delicate appearance, short cropped whiskers, gray eyes, thin nose, pale complexion, small face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 55 years of age, gray hair ; wore a round hard hat, light tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and cloth vest; pretends to be a horse dealer. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Dwyer ( mother's surname Dillonnative of Emlaghbeg, barony of Ballymoe, parish of Oran, who left his father's house at Emlagh- beg on 29th January, 1883, for the purpose of attend- ing the fair of Claremorris, county Mayo, on the 31st January, 1883; was last seen at Claremorris on 31st January, and has not since been heard of. He attended the fair in company with John Hanly, of Emlaghbeg; it is supposed he is lost or met with foul play :— Slightly bald on top of head, full gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 36 years of age, long black curly hair, shaves all his face ; wore a black hard hat, frieze coat, and corduroy trowsers. DESCRIPTION of a girl who stated her name was M'Donnell, native of Cahir, who stands charged with having, on the 13th February, 1883, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, obtained goods from shopkeepers in the town of Tipperary, under false pretences:— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 4 feet 2 inches high, about 14 years of age, light brown hair hanging on shoulders ; wore a seal cap, red dress, black jacket, red muffler, buttoned boots with high heels, supposed to be accompanied by a man, respectably dressed, thin face, black whiskers, about 50 years of age.
