HUE ( ST All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Low ( 48 Goo. 3, o. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of JNotices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. %* Should irrogularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information it is almost impossible to rectify the mistake. No. 639, has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1883. ; Licence- holder, Philip Doyle, 14,738, has not been arrested; Hue- and- Ory, 7th November, 1882. SCOTTISH POLICE. BENJAMIN TAYLOR, gamekeeper, Doonside, near Ayr, has been ainissing since Friday, 26th ult, on . which day ho was in Ayr transacting business and paying accounts. He had about £ 25 in bank notes on him, anda gold lever watch ( No. 18,024), attached thereto a strong Albert silver chain. He was seen in Ayr about 7.30 P. M. of said dute, since which he has not been seen or heard of:— Ho is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches or thereby in height, proportional make, auburn curly ' hair, full heard and whiskers all round, soar on left side of head, above left temple. — . i i^— in'm j Pivss— Dark tweed jttoket, vest, and trowsers, ' round black felt hat, and elastic- side boots. A PROCLAMATION By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPenCEr. WHEREAS by our Proclamation, dated the 9th May, ' 188i, We offered a reward of Ten Thousand Pounds to any peraon or persons Who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, •• Dublin, on the 6th, May, 1882: And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : Now We, the Lord Lieutenant- General and • General Governor of Ireland, are pleased to renew • the said offer, and We do herebj offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of any of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the same period, lead to the same result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from the scene on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Sow We are also pleased hereby to offer to any person concerned in or privy to these Murders, ( not being one of the above- mentioned four Murderers) who shall, within three months from the date hereof. give Such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. And We are further pleased to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any such person concerned in or privy to these Murders, who shall, within the said last- mentioned period, give such private information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers,' or of any other person concerned in or privy to the Murders. • J * AND We are further pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or p. iiy to the Murders, or of the horse and car used on the occasion, such last- mentioned reward of Five Hundred Pounds Jo id. . upon the information ueing corroborated to Our satisfaction by other information in Our possession, even though no person should be mado amenable to justice as a result thereof. And We hereby premise that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private iniormation shall not bo disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire Any person having any information to give, may communicate it to the Assistant Under Secretary for Police and Crime, Dublin Castle, to the Superinten- dent of the Detective Department of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, Dublin Castle, or to any otlior Government official in Great Britain or Ireland. Given at Dublin Castle, this 10th day of November, 1882. DESCRIPTION of the four men, wanted for the murder of Lord F. Cavendish and Mr. Burke, the Chief and Under Secretaries for Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, on Saturday, 6th May, 1882, between 7 and 8 P. M. : 1. About 35 years old, stout make, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache recently clipped, so as to give a bristling appearance, narrow forehead, natural hollow or dinge on bridge of nose; wore a soft black jerry hat and dark clothes. 2. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache; brown faded coat, as if much exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small dark moustache, no whiskers; soft black hat and dark clothes. 4. About 30 years, sandy hair and moustache, beard on chin ; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The height cannot be given of any, all being sitting on an outside car, driven by a man between 35 and 40 years, red bloated face, with a few days' growth of beard on; dark or brown coat, supposed frieze, and low soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the car had either a dark green or a red panel. The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. A PROCLAMATION. By the Lord Lieutenant- General and Gene ral Governor of Ireland. SPENCER. WHEREAS Mr. Denis J. Field, of Westmoreland street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, feloniously and malici- ously stabbed and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on an out- side car which was waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place : Now, We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- land, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the offenders and their accomplices, hereby offer a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within three months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the said offenders or their accomplices, or any of them. And a further reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such • private information as shall, within the sai< l period, lead to the same result. AIKI WE hereby promise that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to the stud Teward for private information shall not he disclosed or tuade public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Armagh. DESCRIPTION of Arthur Hagan, native of Drumkerin, who stands charged with having, on the 27th Febru- ary, 1883, in the barony of Armagh, parish of Armagh, violently assaulted one Richard Campbell, so as to endanger his life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inchcs high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard black hat, dark coat, gray trowsers and vest. Armagh, March 5, 1883. ( 56401 a— 4734.) Belfast. Elizabeth Anne Rice, native of 56, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, who left her home on the 17th Octo- ber, 1882, has not returned thereto. Cavan. Thomas Kemp, who has been missing since the 9th of last December, and was described in the Hue- and- Cry of the 30th of January, 1883. has not as yet turned up. WHEREAS by proclamation dated the find February, 1882, His^- Excellency offered a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as wonld lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in the connty of Clare on the night of the 24th January, 1882 : < And whereas the time therein specified for giving 6uch information has expired: And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months frofi) the date hereof, 3hall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person conccrned in. or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, concerned in this Murder, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to tho conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murder, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Pounds to be paid upon the information being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information iu His Excellency's possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justico as ft result thereof. ^ And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having information to give may com- municate it to R. D. Crotty, Esq., Resident Magis- trate nt Ennistymon ; to Owen Wynne, Esq., Sub- Inspnctor, Royal Irish Constabulary, at Ennistymon, or to any other Government Official in Great Britain or Ireland. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. DESCRIPTION of Bridget Brew, native of Furroor, who stands charged with having, about twelve months ago, attempted to commit suicide, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clondegad :— High teeth, blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, red face, slender make, 6 feet 4 inches high, about 40 or 45 years of age, black hair; wore a black cloth cloak, bluo or brown flannel dress. This woman is insane, and it is supposed she is travelling through the country as a beggar since she left her own home on 22nd February, 1883. Ennis, March 11,1883. ( 55831 c.— 8705.) DESCRIPTION of James Kelly ( supposed fictitious) ( mother's surname O'Hara), native of Killasser, near Swinford, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on tho 1st March, 1883, in the barony of Tulla Upper, parish of Feakle, failed to give a satisfactory account of himself, and has been re- manded for eight days pending inquiries, as he may have committed some crime :- yBrown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; woro a low round hat, brown tweed frock coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, military boots, marked North Hampshire, 934; also wore as drawers a military trowsers, marked 934, and a military shirt; is a stone mason. Tulla, March 2, 1883. ( 55803 c.— 8653.) Andrew Hehir ( prison breach), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 30th January, 1883. Cork/ - DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 2nd March, 1883, absconded from the St. Patrick's Reformatory School, at Upton, county Cork :— Patrick Dorgan, 17 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inch high, proportionate make, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, regular no3e, medium mouth, scar on right eyebrow ; formerly belonged to Kyle- street, Cork, where his parents reside. The school dress consists of corduroytrowsers and sleeved corduroy waistcoat, drab tunic with leather belt, blue striped shirt, all with Rsformatory stamp ; Glengarry cap, nailed boots fastened with leather straps. This boy absconded with Michael and Patrick Heffernan and James Deegan. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. General Prisons Board, March 5, 1883. ( 35877 m.— 47711.) Young offenders, Michael Heffeman, Patrick Heffernan, and James Deegan, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 6th instant, have been arrested. Maurice Dooley, alias Callaghan, alias, M'Donald ( robbery of a coat), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1883. Philip Denehy ( attempt to commit a rape), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry December 5, 1882. Down. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Doyle, native of Letallion, who left his father's house, at Letallion, in the barony of Upper Iveagh, parish of Kilcoo, on 23rd February, 1883, and has not since been heard of, and it is, therefore, thought that he may have met with foul play:— Blue eyes, short nose,, fresh com- plexion, plump face, stout make, 4 feet high, about 12 years of age ; wore a black cap, dark tweed coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest, red and white spotted handkerchief round his neck; is the son of a small farm er Rathfriland, March 4, 1883. ( 56395 c.— 4726.) Patrick M'Donald, alias Nelson ( robbery of clothing), has been arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 6th inst. Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months irom tho date hereof, give Ktfdh information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person orpersons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly ' receives into his or her house or otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, anjr of the persOhs who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Cafferty, native of Athenry, who stands charged with having, on the 25th Feb- ruary, 1883, in the barony of Athenry, parish of Athenry, being one of a p$ u- ty of four persons ( three of whom are in custody) who broke open a store, and stole a quantity of potatoes and soap therefrom:—• Slovenly gait, large mouth, thick lips, gray eyes, large nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a round black hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a tinker. Michael Shea ( robbery of a donkey), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, 1883. John Diggin ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Ory. 2nd March, 1883. Timothy Sullivan ( assault by stabbing), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 9th January, 1883. The man, name and native place unknown ( serious assault on a policeman), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd December, 1882. John Kennedy ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 30th January, 1883. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with leaving, on the 7th day of March, 1883, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Kilpatrick, met the post boy and threatened him if he brought any more letters to the people of Killina from Carbury i— Shaves all his face; dark complexion, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age; wore a soft hat, brown tweed coat, and cord trowsers. DESCRIPTION of a heifer, the property of Patrick Kavanagh, which was stolen from the lands of Aughrim, parish of Lackagh, barony of West Offaly, on the night of 3rd or morning of 4th March, 1883 :— A dark red heifer, in good condition, 2 years old, small horns ; value for £ 18, Kildare, March 8, 1883. Arthur M'Carthy ( robbery), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd March, 1883, ^ The man who gave Ills'" name as Cullen ( sheep stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 23rd January, 1883. Peter Clarke ( young offender), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th October, 1882. Leitrim. Kate Fox ( obtaining money under false pretences), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1883. Limerick. DESCRIPTION of four persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 19th February, 1883, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted Denis Ryan and James Duggan :— 1. Long face, active make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 22 years of age; wore a soft jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 2. Small fair moustache and side whiskers, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, and gray tweed trowseri 3. No beard er whiskers, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 21 years of age; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. 4. Cannot be described. New Pallas, Feb. 20, 1883. ( 55748 c.— 8569.) Robert Johnston, convict on licence, native of Londonderry, who stands charged with having failed to report himself to Police at Coleraine; not arrested); Hue- and- Cry, 24th October, 1882. Convict E. Kelly, alias Thomas M'Cartney ( not arrested); Hue- and- Cry, 10th October, 1882. A Roscommon. Mayo. DESCRIPTION of Michael M'Namara ( mother's sur- name Caulfield , native of Coogue Middle, who stands charged on suspicion with having, on the night of the 23rd February, 1882, in the barony of Costello, parish of Bekan, being one of an armed party who entered the house of David Freely, of Brackloughboy, and murdered his son, Patrick Freely:— Clean face without uny board or whiskers, brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 Inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; wore a round hard hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest 4 is a labourer. DeSCrIPTIOn of Patrick Hannon, alias Moran ( mother's surname Moran), native of Edmondstown, who stands charged with having, on the - 14th day of February, 1883, in the barony of Costello, parish of Kilcolman, assaulted Joseph Campbell, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby fracturing his skull:— Walks with a swaggering gait, slightly knockknced, and clumsy appearance, round shoulders, and small mole on face ; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair slightly tinged with gray ; wore a frieze coat, cord trowsers, and frieze vest; is a labourer. Ballaghaderreen, Feb. 18,1883. ( 56649c.— 6111.) Monaghan. x DESCRIPTION of Francis Kelly, native of Drummond, who stands charged with having, on the 26th Feb- ruary, 1883, in the barony of Farney, parish of Magheracloone, absconded. He was on bail to take his trial at Monaghan Spring Assises, 1883, for an attempted rape;— Walks erect, smart appearance, good- looking ; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair, small dark whiskers and moustache; wore a tweed coat, cord trowsers, and tweed vest; is a cattle dealer. Carrickmacross, March 1, 1883. ( 53090 c 4702.) Lizzio M'Grane ( robbery of wearing apparel), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd March, 1883. Queen's. DESCRIPTION* of John M'Clean ( name supposed to be fictitious*, who stands charged, on remand, with stealing a pair of socks, on 24th inst., out of the dwelling- house of George Kinnornly, farmer, parish of Kilmanman, barony of Tinnahinch, townland of Coolagh, Queen's County:— Prominent front teeth, large thick lips, high cheek bones, gray eyes, short thick nose, dark sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, and 24 years of nge, Dressed in- a suit of old black tweed, much worn. This person may be wanted for similar offences elsewhere. Mountrath, February 26, 1888. ( 57232 c— 6340.) The parcel of jewellery stolen from the railway station at Maryboro', and described in detail in the Hue- and- Cry of tho 26th of last January, has not been recovered. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Dwyer ( mother's surname Dillon native of Emlaghbeg, barony of Ballymoe, parish of Oran, who left his father's house at Emlagh- beg on 29th January, 1883, for the purpose of attend- ing the fair of Claremorris, county Mayo, on the 31st January, 1883; was last seen at Claremorris on 31st January, and has not since been heard of. He attended the fair in company with John Hanly, of Emlaghbeg; it is supposed he is lost or met with foul play:— Slightly bald on top of head, full gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 36 years of age, long black curly hair, shaves all his face ; wore a black hard hat, frieze coat, and corduroy trowsers. DESCRIPTION of a girl who stated her name was — M'Donnell, native of Cahir, who stands charged with having, on the 13tli February, 1883, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, obtained goods from shopkeepers in the town of Tipperary, under false pretences:— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 4 feet 2 inches high, about 14 years of age, light brown hair hanging on shoulders ; wore a seal cap, red dress, black jacket, red muffler, buttoned boots with high heels, supposed to be accompanied by a man, respectably dressed, thin face, black whiskers, about 50 years of age. WHEREAS by Proclamation dated the 26th May, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Two Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of tbe person or persons who committed the Murder of Mrs. Henry Smythe, in the demesne at Barbavilla, in the county of Westmeath, on the 2nd April, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired: And His Excellency is pleased to renew thesaid offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them concerned in this Murder a A FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS. His Excellency is further pleased to offer a Be ward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information, given within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder. And His Excellency is further pleased to offer a Reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such - private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murder, such last- mentioned reward of One Hundred Pounds to be paid upon the informatioflT being corroborated to His Excellency's satisfaction by other information in. His Excellency's possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result'thereof. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private infor- mation shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said rewards shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having information to give may com- municate it to Captain Butler, Special Resident Magistrate, Mullingar; to Captain Boileau, Resi- dent Magistrate, Mullingar; to S. A. W. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 24th February, 1883, in the barony of Talbotstown Lower, parish of Baltinglass, robbed Bernard Carroll, iand steward to David Mahony, Esq., of the sum of £ 20, viz.:—£ 15 in half- sovereigns, and £ b in silver, by stopping himself, horse, and van on the public road at Raheen, demanding his money and at same time presenting a pistol at him :— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 26 years of age, moustache and imperial ( supposed false), sandy hair; wore a round jerry bard hat, half worn, light tweed frock coat, corduroy tsowsers with patch on right knee and piece worn off bottom of right leg at instep, as if by boot; supposed to be a tramp.
