INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On 2nd instant, the dead body of a female Child was found iu a water closet at Belle Vue Gardens, the child appears to have been dead about 6 weeks. At the coroner's inquest the jury returned a verdict of wilful murder against some person or persons unknown. Information to County Police Office, OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester.— Lot- slxest, February 7. Stolen by means of honsebreaking, between 18th and 25th ultimo, at Eastville :— an old silver Geneva Watch, enamel face, minute hand missing; two Overcoats, men's sfze, one dark green melton cloth ( three pockets and a small ticket do., with dark buttons), the other a black rib fancy cloth ( two pockets on skirt behind, with black cloth buttons; a fancy cloth Vest, black ground, red and amber flowers ; and a small silver pocket Fruit Knife, pearl handle. Information to Mr. Supt. Matthews, Police Station, FISHPONDS, or to Sergeant Morley, EASTVILLE, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, February 2. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Northfield, between 1 and 7 am. on 30th instant:— four electro- plated fish Knives and Prongs; five electro- plated napkin Rings j twelve tea Spoons, nickel gilt; a pair of fish Carvers, knotted ivory handles ; a cut glass claret Jug, silver lid and mount; a punch Ladle, silver bowl, and whalebone handle ; n brown silk Umbiella, dark handle ; a brown rough cloth Overcoat, velvet collar, black striped lining, pockets on hips, and out- side breast pocket. Information to Mr. Supt. Tyler, Police Office, KING'S HEATH..— Bow- street, January 31. FORGERY. Wanted on a charge of passing a forged Bank of ENG land Note for on 20th ultimo a man, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sallow complexion, thin face, dark hair, cut short, heavy dark moustache, bat no whickers, ipoke with a foreign accent, endorsed the noto 1G. Longden,' supposed to be the same man who passed similar notes in Nottingham, in April 1881. The note is numbeied 30013, and dated 14th March, 1881 Information to H. Keenan, Chief Constable, NORTHAMPTON.— Bow- street, February 5. H BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking, in Hinckley, between 6 and 8 p. m. on 4tli instant:— a silver Geneva Watch; a { old plated Brooch, with red cornelian stone ; a gold plated eeper Ring, with led atone; a gold plated keeper ItiDg, with green and white atones ; and two common keeper Rings. A jemmy, 14 inches long, and % inch wide, and a piece of wax candle, wrapped in a piece of the Birmingham Daily Mail, for 23rd, 1882, were left behind. Information to Mr. Supt. Chapman, HINCKLEY.— Bow- steet, February 7, Stolen at Peterborough, on 2nd instant:— a man's Ulster grey rough materia), minus the band, dark bone or wooc buttons; a black cloth Vest, no collar ; an old rusty colour cloth Coat; a pair of new cloth Trousers, grey plaid or tquare pattern, brass buttons, has name ' W. Gaunt, Peterborough,' on them ; a black silk Neckerchief, a tquare ; a red and white silk Pocket- handkerchief ; a small brown leather Pornianteau has on a label, ' Boulogne'. By a stout man, about 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet high, p& le complexion, rather full face, dark eyes, hair and whiskers, the latter very thin, slight moustache ; was wearing a brown hard felt hat, dark coat, blue vest, spring side Chelsea boots, black necktie, and paper collar. The thief may be wearing the Ulster and Trouners, as the thief is about same size as the person robbed ; stated he was a money lender; had a tin box, about 18 ins. by 12, oovered with canvas ; has in his possession 2 pawn- tickets— a frock Coat, pledged at Marshall's, Peterborough an 2nd inatant, for 2s. 9d., Wilson, Spread Eagle ; the other for a frock Coat and a pair of placed Boots, Jenkins, Stamford Street, London, for 7s. fid,, pledged at Morley's, Peterboro'. Information to James Hurst, Head Constable, PETERBORO' " Bow- street, February 5, HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen on 29lh ultimo':— a dark bay Horse, aged, 15 hands, star on forehead, near hind foot, off fore foot, and fetlocks white, switch tail, in good condition, carries his head erect when trotting, value £ 12. Information to Mr. Supt McHugo, Metropolitan Police, Blackheath- road, GREENWICH, S. E.— Metropolitan Police, February 7. Obtained by false pretertcs in Sheffield, on 26th December last:— a bay Mare, 4 years old, 14i hands high, has a small bit of white on off hind foot, a small star on fore- head, a saddle mark on back, a piece off one ear, and was in good condition. By a man named GEO. HOLEHOUSE, a horse- dealer, about 42 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, thin build, rather long features, dark sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, if not shaved off; is well known in Manchester and other towns in Lancashire, and has been convicted for a similar offence at Wigan. Information to Mr. J. Jackson, Chief Constable, SHEFFIELD, who holds a warrant for bia apprehension. — Bow- street, February 5. Stolen during the night of 30th or morning of 31st ult., from the farm yard at White Hall, Bishops Stortford :— a large black cart Mare, 16 hands high, in good condition, has one shoe off near forefoot, 7 years old, with tail touching the ground. Also stolen from tie stable at the Bame time : — a horse's leather Collar, lined with ttriped lining, nearly new. Supposed by three men,— 1st, about 22 years cf age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, black whiskers Bide of face, and no moustache; dressed in dark waistooat, dark trousers, and bl » ck felt hat. 2nd, 40 to 45 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inche* high, slight build, p& le complexion ; dressed in dark overcoat, and wearing a soft wide- a- wake hat. 3rd, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, ftir complexion, sandy whiskers on side of face; dreasedjn dark overcoat, hard black felt hat. Had with them in the town of Bishops Stort- ford a brown Cob, about 14 bands high, and a light spring Cart with dark coloured paint. They left Stortford at 8 p. m.; the Mare was traced from the farm across three fields into the higV load, and the track of Horse and Cart and stolen Mare traced on the high road to Hereford and London. The three men in question are suppesed to be the same men who stole a Colt at Marlow, Bucks, on 6th ultimo. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Ryder, Police Station, Bishops STORTFORD, Herts.— Bow- streit, February 2. Stolen from a field at Bromley, Pensnett, on night of 27th instant:— a brown mare Pony, about 12 basils high, cut mane and tail, white blaze down the face, shod all round, 5 years old, and has not been worked, is very wild. Information to Mr. Supt. Woollaston, BRIERLEY HILL.— Bow- street, Jan. 31. } LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Wanted c n a warrant, charged with stealing a Suit of Clothes, at Hard way, Gosport, on 3rd instant ( recovered): JOHN KETTLEBAND, a labourer, 39 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, little or no whiskers, slight moustache, marks— cup marks on breast, scar left arm, left knee, right thigh and right hand, and rather round shouldered ; was born at Barrow- on- Soar ; has served ia the Royal Artillery, and has been three times convicted of larceny; dreseed in a light or drab colour jacket, pockets at sides, corduroy trousers, roucd hard bl « ck felt hat, and side- spring boots. Absconded from Bloxham, Oxon, on 29th ultimo, charged on wirrant with stealing 3 Sheets, 1 Blanket, 1 Shirt, 1 Vest, and £ 3 in Money, from a dwelling- house :— CHAS. TUCK, a labourer, 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches higb, fair com- plexion, small brown mark on one cbeek, and tattooed with anchor on one hand ; dressed ia black pilot jacket, cord vest, moleskin trousers, black soft billy hat, and heavy nailed boots. He is accompanied by Sarah Manning, wife of Geo. Manning, prosecutor, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches big>, round face ; dressed in black jacket, trimmed with black fur, small red shawl, and black hut, turned up on one Bide, trimmed witb black and white lace and a wreath of cherriep. They both took tickets at Banbury for Cardiff on 29th ultimo, and passed as man and wife, Tuck will ruoefc likely se « k employ- ment on tbe railway as a navvy. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen between 6 p. m. 30th ard 11 a. m. on 3l » t ultimo, from the barge ' Charlie,' lying at Kemsley Dock, Milton :— a large red scotch plaid Scarf, a blue striped cotton Shirt, a red Pocket- handkerchief, a pair of heavy laced Boots, right one has a patch on- side, recently soled, and a white Pocket- handkerchief. .. Wanted on warrant, for the above :— DANIEL HEATHF1ELD, alias MACKNER, 19 years of sg< » , 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in black pilot jacket, black cloth cap with peak or. same material, apd dirty moleskin trouaers. And GEORGE GIRDLESTONE, 21 years of sg*, 5 feet 5 or 6 inchei high, stout build, fresh complexion, red hair, slight moustache, no whiskers; dressed in canvas jumper with blue collar, dirty moleakin trousers, awl cloth cap with peak. Information to Mr. Supt. Mayne, Police Court, SITTINGBOURNE, Kent.— — Bow- street, February 7. Committed for trial on 2 ad April next, for stealing the property named in Police Gazette of 2nd instant:— CHAS. KNILL, 20 years of age, 6 feet hjgb, dark com- plexion, dark brown hair aud • eyos, several feeth missing in uppsr jaw, long neck, Small round head, a native of London, and a clerk; respectably d jessed in dark clothes, a high stand up collar meeting under the chin, and hard black felt hat with broadish brim, and carried a small black leather bag. And RICHARD CONYER, 19 years of age, 5 feet 9. ins. higb, dark complexion and e^ es, heavy eyebrows, meeting, a native of Leather Lane, London, a costermo^ ger and general dealer ; respectably dressed in dark clothes. They stayed at a Temperance Hotel, and are well known to the Metropolitan, - Police, Bow Street. information to Mr Supt. C. Head,' OXFOKD. — Bow- street February 7. Charged with obtaining £ 1 and a silver lever Watch, with gold figured face, ' J B.' on outer case, and ' John Bedford ' in full on back cf inside case, has a nick filed at the top of the spring where ic is opened:— a man, about 35 or 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, slight dark moustache, whiskers shaved off, scar under left eye, imitation diamond ring on second finger, not certain which hand, tattoo marks on both arms. Stated that he was a detective from Loughborough, also that he was a butcher and that he came from Tamworth, also that he came from Kettering; dreesod in black corded coat and ve « t, dark brown plaid trousers, black hard billy hat, blue plaid necktie, and lace- up boots, nearly new, with brass eyelets and toe- capped. Left Hinckley on 5th instant, by 7" 17 p. m. train for Bir- mingham. Information to Mr. Supt. Chapman, HINCKLEY, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, February 7. Stolen at Longsight, between 11 a. m. and 10 p. m. 2nd instant:— an old black worsted oloth Coit, two pockets behind in skirts, aud pocket outside left breast, lined with black Italian cloth ^ rery far worn; an old wooden Chair, round ba, ck with three rails in it; and an ordinary paraffin oil lamp, with china cistern. Supposed by a man who lodged at the house and left about 3 p. m. 2nd instarlt, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches higb, fresh complexion ; dressed in the stolet. coat, black cloth trousers, clogs and billycock hat, is a gardener and belongs to Rusholme. Information to County Police Office, OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester.— Bow- street, Feb. 7. Wanted on warrant, charged with larceny by bailee, on October 5th, 1882, of a double- cated silver lever Watch, No. 34901, maker James Thatcher, Wantage :— JOHN POPE, a travelling watch and clock cleaner, 40 years of age, 5 ft. 5 ins. high, dark hair and complexion, and clean face ; has a wife and family living in Cheltenham ; he is well known in the villages bordering the county of Gloucester. Information to Mr. Wm. Whadcoat, Supt., Police Station, WITNEY.— Bow- street, February 7. Absconded, charged with stealing Tools at Burslem on 31st ultimo:— JOSEPH EARDLEY, a potter, 17 yrs. of age, 5 feet 2| ins. high, [ pale face, brown hair, grey eyes, slender build, cut mark under chin, native of BURSLEM ; dressed in black hard felt hat, dark coat, dark grey cloth trousers, and old boots; has previously been convicted for felony. Will endeavour to leave the country and go abroad. Information to Mr. Chief Supt. Hill, BURSLEM, who holds warrant .- Bow- street, Feb. 7. Wanted on a charge of stealing, about 20th ultimo, a lady's Ulster ( recoveied), a tramping woman, 40 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair, fresh complexion, brown eyes, abscess on left cheek, back of each ear, and under chin ; dressed in a black bonnet, short black jacket, trimmed with black fur, fitting tight to the body, old faded skirt, and bad boot?. Stated she belongs to Liverpool: was seen its Welshpool on 30th ultimo, going in the direction of South Wale?. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Gough. OSWESTRY, or to P. C. Hopwood, PANTS, OSWESTRY, Salop.— Bow- street, February 5. Stolen at Gorton, between 1 and 5 p. m. 31st ultimo;— a joiner's Rip Saw and a Hand Saw, both nearly ECW and marked ' G. Hartell' Supposed by a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, ssndy hair, slight whiskers and moustache, and wore a lwowo coat. Informa- tion to tbe County Polioe Office, OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester. — Bow street, February 5. February 19 ( Charlotte- row, Ellesmere ( see Police Gazette of 23rd December la » t) j:— HUGH WHITBY alias NIXON, about 32 yrs. of age, about S ft. 4 ins. high, stout build, very round face, fresh com- plexion, dark brown whiskers round face ; dressed in stolen jacket and boots, dirty moleskin jacket and vest, black billy- cock hat; he is a native of Dunham- on- the- Hill, Cheshire, and has been convicted for drunkenness at Malpas, Farndon, and Runcorn. His wife and family, and also his father, William Whitby, are now residing at St. Helen's, Lancashire, where the latter was formerly employed at the Gasworks. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Gough, OSWESTRY, or to P. 8. Walters, ELLESMERE, Salop, who holds the warrant.— Eon- street, February 6. Charged with larceny at Tunstall, on 26th ultimo:— PETER GILMER, an ostler, 2G years of Age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, slight moustache and whiskers, grey eyes ( full with red cast), and stout build, supposed native of Glasgow ; dressed in black boiler- end hat, dark brown single- breasted overcoat, dark jacket and vest, brown corduroy trousers, short buttoned leggings, and blucher boots, all old. Has travelled with George Paine's [ mechanical show, and may be found with a travelling show. Information to Mr. Supt. Hall, Police Station, TUNSTALL, Stoke- on- Trent.— Bow- street, February 5, Wanted in the borough of Kendal, on a charge of stealing £ 6 10s. on the 30th or 31st ultimo ALEXANDER STARKEY, a grocer's porter, has a pedlars certificate granted at Kendal on 3rd November last, lie is about 20 or 21 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, swprthy complexion, propor- tionate build, dark brown hair, a little hair on face, rather randy ; dressed in a blue cloth overcoat, with belt, black felt hat, and lace- ap boots. He posted a letter at Nottingham on 31at ultimo, addressed to Kendal, the letter did not contain any address, but the envelope bore the Station Street post- mark thereon. He left Kendal on the morning of 31st ult., and had a browu papor parcel with him. Information to Thomas Cotton, Chief Constable, K NDAL, who holds a war- rant for his arrest.— Bow- street, February 5. Description of ENOS STEVENS, a clerk and collector, wanted at Birmingham, charged under a warrant with embezzling various sums of Money, belonging to Messrs. Cardall and Sons, coal and timber merchants :— he is 57 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, thin build, grey hair and whiskers, round shoulders, and turns oot his feet when walking; dressed in a black coat with velvet collar and billycock hat. Information to J. Farndale, Chief Constable, BIRMINGHAM.— Bow- street, February 5. Description of JAMES SUTTON HOLMES, charged on warrant with having, at Bolton, on 29th ultimo, stolen and sold by auction or otherwise a large quantity of Wearing Apparel, Tea, & c., he is about 21 years of age, but looks vlder, about 5 feet 10 inches high, proportionate make, pale complexion, rather sunken cheeks, brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, and has a burn mark at the left of his bottom lip partly hidden by his whiskers; dressed in light brown overcoat, blue black worsted coat and vest, dark tweed cloth trousers, black Jersey underneath his coat, turn down collar, scarf with pin, and black billycock hat. Information to Mr. Holgate, Chief Constable, BOLTON, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.—£ o* r- » treet, February 5,' ' Stolen at Trowbridge on let instant:— a black ribbed cloth Vest, with cloth buttons; also a silver Albert with silver Locket attached, containing two photos, young man and young woman. By a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 ins. high, slight built, sides of face and upper lip shaveD, light brown beard, several inches lqng; dressed in light tweed coat, dark trousers, elastic side boots, all very seedy, also necktie but no collar. Stated he was a saddler, and called on the trade for work. Information to Supt. White, Wilts Con- stabulary, TROWBRIDGE.— Bow- street, February 5. Wanted on a Sheriff's warrant, charged with the theft or embezzlement of £ 204 15s. lOd. :— CHARLES STANLEY THOMPSON, 24 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, ordinary make, fair hair, Blight daik brown moustache, no beard or moustache, fresh complexion, and good teeth; dressed in a fashionable dark checked tweed jacket suit, and round felt hat; may be wearing a dark grey Ulster ; resided with his father, at 3, Lyndoch Street West, Glasgow; absconded with the money, whioh consisted of 184 Pound Notes of the Bank of Scotland, £ 20 in Sovereigns, and 15/ 10 in Silver and Bronze Money. He is given xo playing at billiards, and may be found in loose company. It is believed that he intends to leave the country. Police officers are requested to make careful search and inquiry for accused at Shipping Offices, Hotels, Billiard Rooms, & c,, and fif found to have him arrested. Information to A. M'Call, Chief Con- stable, Central Police Chambers, GLASGOW. — Bow- street, February 5. Stolen at Fenton, about 7' 15 a. m. on 3rd instant:— a rough blue Overcoat, double- breasted, [ three pockets outside with flaps, one inside left breast, velvet collar, black lining, and large black bone buttons ; a black ribbed cloth Suit, to fit a man about 5 feet 4 inches, cloth butons on coat and vest same material, ' Goldstone' in gilt letters on loop of coat collar, in the vest pocket was a Pawnticket for a Geneva Watch, pledged at Bolton's, Stoke- on- Trent. By a man about 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers or moustache, shaves clean, dark brown hair and eyes, rather short, and medium build ; dressed in dark cloth jacket, corduroy trousers, light coloured vest, blue scarf with white spots, old black hard hat, and elastic- side boots ; sup- posed to belong to the neighbourhood of Burton- on- Trent. Information to Mr. Supt. McWilliams, LONGTON, or to Inspector Macrory, Police Station, FENTON, Staffordshire.— — Bow- street, February 5. Absconded from Llanwddyn Water Works on 18st, inst., charged with stealing two Ferrets :— DAVID LLOYD, a labourer, native of Llanrhaidr, 32 to 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 incheB high, brown hair, whiskers and moustache, grey eyes, stout build, turns his right foot out in walking, has a squealing voice, can speak Welsh and English. Information to Mr. Supt. Ellis, WELSHPOOL, or to P. C. Breeze, LLANFAIR, Montgomeryshire, who holds the warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, February 6. Description of ALFRED COPE, commercial traveller) wanted on a warrant for stealing Wines, & c., from his masters: — 32 years of age, 6 feet high, fair hair and whiskers ( recently dyed black), thin build, stoops, and has cast in his ifye ; in a native of Handsworth, near Birmingham. Information to Joseph Farndale, Chief Constable, BIRMINGHAM.— Bow- street, February 2. Stolen in Ashton- under- Lyne, between 10 and lla. m, on 31st ultimo :— a lady's gold lever Wutch, No. 7879, gold dial, has the name of • Hadfield' scratched inside.
