As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letter* addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Stolen from different persons at Bolton :— Nov. 6th, 1882, a silver lever Watch, plain dial, No. 6022, had attached a silver Albert Guard, with . Seal, and stone lost out. Nov. 10th, 1882, a silver Geneva Watcli, one of the hands very loose, No. 30jl8, had attached a common Albert Chain. Dec. 18th, 1882, a silver Geneva Watch, No. 21714. Dec. 23rd, 188?, a silver lever Watch, No. 29120, maker n. vam, Manchester. Dec. 20th, 1882, a silver centre- seconds Watch, No. 33443, gold joiuts and gold hands, maker Samuel Greenhough, Bolton, had attached a thin silver Guard, common pattern. Dec. 31 at, 1882, a lady's gold Geneva Watch, gold dial, No. 10924, has been repaired at the hinges, and the case is a little dinged, had attaclied a plated Albert Guard, snake pattern. Socks; aud a large Muffler, mixed red and white, has been burnt at ore corner where it has washed into a hole. By a tramp, from 40 to 60 years of age, about B feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, short visage, rather stout figure, broad high shoulders, leans forward when walking, and has a habit of glancing slily over his shoulder ; may be wearing stolen Coat, Trousers, and Boots, and daik grey woollen cap, a daik grey shoddy coat with large conspi- cuous patch on back, two small tins used by tramps for boil- ing water, and a Bhort pricker found in pocket, and a pair of strong lace boots were left behind. It. of Yorkshire.— Bow- street, January 22. cushions, one seat with stoppers and one without, has the name of ' T. Partington, Edge Green, Golborne,' painted iu white on the back. By EDWARD FISHER, who was in the owner's employ for two months, and is now wanted under warrant; he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, but dark brown mous- tache long at the ends, lost front teeth of both jaws, thin features aud pale looking, has a mole under right eye, crossed flags and croivu on righi arm, and a woman on his left arm, two women on his breasts, aud imitation cuffs tattooed on wrists, half way round ; dressed, when last seen iu Wigan, iu a grey tweed reefer jacket, black cloth trousers aud vest, black billycock hut, and elastic « ide block fronted boots. £'• reward will be paid on the apprehension aud conviction of the thief, and recovery of the stolen property. The chesnut Pony, reported stolen from Sellack, near Rose, on 10th instant, and advertised in Police Gazette of 22nd instant, has been recovered. George Smith, Supt. Police Station, Ross.—- Bowttreet, Janany 26. Ti e man charged with stealing a llorse and Gig at Penrith, Cumberland, on 21st October last, advertiped in the Police Gazette on 30th Oct, has not been apprehended. He is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, and rather stout figure. In- formation to Mr. Supt. Wanted on a wairant for embezzling about £ 20 at Hemel Hempstead — JOSEPH REDDING, a journeyman butcher, 24 years < f age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, medium build, small light moustache, small light whiskers on cheeks, uo beard, light browu hair ; usually dressed in grey clothes, and hard round hat. Information to Mr. Supt. S. Chapman, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, Herts.— Bow- street, Jan. 26. Absconded from Stokesley, on 9th inatant, charged on a warrant with larceny as a bailee :— GEO. HARRISON, about 40 years of age, about 6 feet high, dark complexion, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, which is rather inclined to curl aud parted behind, bald from forehead to crown of head, slender build, is a watchmaker, shabby genteel appearance, and good address ; may be found callingj upon watchmakers, or might endeavour to get a situation in some theatre; a native of Stokesley, and is supposed to have worked in Leeds ; dressed in a dark tweed suit and black hard round felt hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Hutchinson. North Riding Consta- bulary Office, SOUTH STOCKTON, or to Acting Inspector Stones, Police Station, STOKESLEY, via. Wanted for committing a robbery at Royal Oak Inn, Wrecclesham, on 22nd instant : a man about 35 years of age, about 6 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in dark grey coat, pockets outside, bard felt hat, dark vest, daubed with paint, dark trousers, side spring boots, has the appearance of a painter, fair complexion, small whiskers and moustache, rather a long nose. Silver. Supposed by a man, about 6 feet 10 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark moustache ; dreaped in long dark coat aud black hatd felt hat. Stolen from a coach- house at Townsend, Kingswinford, between 4 p. m. lath, and 11 a. m. 20th instant:— a Tricycle, Wolverhampton make, two large wheels in front, one small, wheel behind, colour— dark groundwork, yellow stripes, brake rather loose, wood seat with blue cushion, a chain on two small wheels, brass caps on two large wheels. Supposed b) a man about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high medium build, fair complexion ; dressed in dark grey tweed jacket, light- coloured trousers, a » . d dark cap ; who was seeu about 6 30 p. m. the 19th instant, pushing a tricycle along the Wolverhampton and Stourbridge- road, and going in the direction of Stourbridge and Kilderminster. Wanted on warrant, charged with larceny by bailee of a costermonger's barrow at Aylesbury, on 4th October, 1882 :— ARTHUR LEWIS JEFFS, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark swarthy complexion, black hair, hazel eyes, small features, and spare build ; dressed in shabby d irk clothes, and black hard felt hat; he is a native of Watlington, Oxon, travels the country collecting rags and bones, and mending umbrellas. Information to Mr. Supt. J. Denson, AYLESBURY. — Bom- street, January 24. Description of EDWARD STILES, alias COOKE, a baker, who absconded from Swadlincote, Derby, on 15th instant, charged on warrant with embezzling several sums of Money :— he is about 36 years of age, 6 feet 4 inches high, very dark hair, almost black, inclined to curl, no whiskers, but slight dark moustache, blue eyes, thin face, has the appearance of a heavy drinker, very active, medium build, witty in speech, is very badly ruptured, and wears a truss ; dressed in a light brown cloth suit, aud low black ' felt hat; he has worked in Oxford- street, London, and also been in business at Market liar borough, and appears to have travelled about the country much, having been at work in most towns. Information to Acting Supt. Hutchins, Police Station, WOOLVILLE, Burtou- on- Treut, V.- ho holds a warrant for hiit apprehension.— Bow- street, January 21. Charged with larceny by bailee at Rickerscote, Stafford, on 27th December, 1882 — a tramping watch and clock cleaner, who gave name of BARRETT, about (> 0 years of age, 0 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, cut short, medium build, long face, short whiskers and moustache, turning grey, very round shouldered, and hangs his head when walking, cariios a small satchel or case, containing clock cleaning tools ; dressed in long dark blue overcoat, Bnull- coloured mixture trousers, hard low felt hat, all much worn, und strong lace- up boots. This man obtained from Samuel Parsons, a silver verge Watch, representing himself to be a clock and watch cleaner, on the understanding that he was to clean it and return in a week's time, but failed to do BO ; the watch is an old- fashioned verge, No. 4209, cream- coloured dial, with brass fingers. He sold to the wife of injured party au old gold Watch for 12s. ( 9 carat Geneva) marked inside outer case • J. No. 43173/ and on inside case MX. 43173,' gold face, black JiaBtla, Wl^ a little dented, supposed obtained from some one under similar circumstances. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, STAFFORD, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 24. Wanted at Leyburn, charged with stealing from a dwelling- house at lla vcs, during the night of 15th instant : — a dark ribbed cloth Suit; a black cloth single- breasted C! oat, trimmed with dark braid down front, two pockets out- a le on laps ; a dark cloth Vest; a pair of grey mixture cloth Trousers ; a silver verge Watch ; and 10s. in Silver. The whole of the property recovered with the exception of the single- breasted black cloth coat, which he may now be wearing :— a french polisher, who had lodged in the house, about 24 to 20 years of age, about 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, medium build, round full face, fair complexion, brown hair, light moustache, has a small lump about the size of a marble on left side of neck above his scarf, both hands stained with polish, and supposed to be rather dull of hearing ; dressed in a dark brown dress coat, two small buttons on each cuff, dark brown vest, with grey and black stripes, dark brown cloth trousers, with brown and black Btripes, dark blue guernsey on top of vest, dark grey woollen shirt, dark scarf, black hard billycock, and strong laced boots, one having recently been fronted; he booked from Hanes Junction to Carlisle, by the 8* 20 a. m. train on the 16th instant. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Burnley, about 12 noon, on 15th instant: a gentleman's diamond cluster Ring, 18 carat gold, set with 7 diamonds, the centre one out, value .£ 10 ; a lady's diamond Ring, set with 5 diamonds, 18 carat, half hoop pattern, va'. ue .£ 15 ; a gold Ring, 15 carat, set with rubies aud pearls, value £ Z ; a gold Ring, half hsop pattern, set with two lows of pearls, second oue out of one row, value £ 1 10s. By a man about 30 years of » ge, 5 feet 5 <) r 6 inches high, rather dark complexion, stout build, rather full face, • lark moustache, side whiskers cut short, and chin shared ; dressed in a dark brown coat with green stripes, dark p'aid mixture trouBerg, short drab or brown coloured overcoat, two grey woollen shirts, one or them torn across the body, soft black billycock hat, broad biim, broad black braid round body of hat, bhu.' and red muffler, aud boots, the heel of ono is split and shows his socks when walking, supposed to have a sore heel. He is supposed to be a pattern maker for iron moulders, and a native of Leeds or Bradford, Yorkshire. nformation to Mr. Supt. Wright. County Police Office, BuRNLEY, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 22. Wauted under a warrant for having on 15th instant stolen several articles of furniture, & c. ( recovered) :— JOSEPH WILSON, a labourer, about 31 yearn of age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, proportionate make, rather sandy hair, no whiskers, fresh complexion and long features ; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, moleskin trousers, bluoher shoes, and cap, all far worn. BETSY CHADWICK, alias WILSON, a prostitute, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet high, light sandy hair, light com- plexion, round features, and proportionate ni ikej dressed in black dress, red plaid shawl, and elastic side. Frequents low lodging- houses and beer- houses in several towesin Lancashire. 1 uformation to Mr, Holgate, Chief Constable, BOLTON-, Lan- cashire.— Bow- street, January 22. Stolen on 12th instant, from Broadmore Common, 1 Woolhope, Herefordshire :— a brown she Donkey, in foal, and a grizzley she Donkey, in foal, witli a white nose, and tail out level with hocks. Supposed by a gipsey, about 28 years of age, 5 feet high, proportionate figure, dark or sallow com- plexion, dark hair, wiAont whiskers or beard. Information to Supt. J.
