A PROCLAMATION By tho Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPENCER. WIIK HEAS by our Proclamation, dated the 9th May, 1882, We offered a reward of Ten Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lend to the conviction of tho Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in tho Phcenix Park, Dublin, on the 0th, May, 1882: And whereas tho time therein specified forgiving such information has expired : Now We, the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland, are pleased to renew the said offer, and We do hereby offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will load to the conviction of any of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS- for such private information as shall, within the same period, load to the same result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from the scene on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Now Wo are also pleased hereby to offer to any person concerned in or privy to these Murders ( not being one of the above- mentioned four Murderers) who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and tho special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. And We are further pleased to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any such person concerned in or privy to these Murders, who shall, within the said last- mentioned period, give such private information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, or of any other person concerned in or privy to the Murders. Given at Dublin Castle, this 10th day of November, 1882. DESCRIPTION of the four men, wanted for the murder of Lord F. Cavendish and Mr. Burke, the Chief and Under Secretaries for Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, oil Saturday, 6tli May, 1882, between 7 and 8 P. M.: 1. About 35 years old, stout make, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache recently clipped, so as to give a bristling appearance, narrow forehead, natural hollow or dinge on bridge of nose; wore a soft black jerry hat and dark clothes. 2. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache; brown faded coat, as if much exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small dark moustache, no whiskers ; soft black hat and dark clothes. 4. About 30 years, sandy hair and moustache, beard on chin ; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The height cannot bo given of alty, all being sitting on an outside car, driven by a man between 35 and 40 years, red bloated face, with a few days' growth of beard on ; dark or brown coat, supposed frieze, and low soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the car had either a dark green or a red panel. The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. A PROCLAMATION. By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPENCER. WHEREAS Mr. Denis J. Field, of Westmoreland street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, feloniously and malici- ously stabbed and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on an out- side car which was waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place : Now, We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- land, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the offenders and their accomplices, hereby offer a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within three months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the said offenders or their accomplices, or any of them. And a further reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the said period, lead to the same result. And We hereby promise that every effort shall be mads to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to the said reward for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. G. C. HAMILTON. PARTICULARS relative to Convict Anne Hart, 2390, convicted in Cavan, county Cavan, at Quarter Sessions, on the 9th October, 1877, for larceny from the person and former conviction, and sentenced to seven years' penal servitude :— 41 years of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, married, has . three children, is a dealer, prison trade knitting, born in Leitrim, and resided before conviction in Cavan; her friends reside in Leitrim; brown hair turning gray, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, medium nose, high mouth and teeth prominent, sallow complexion, broad visage, cuts on both sides of forehead,' mark on left jaw, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high. This woman was liberated from Golden Bridge Refuge, 11th December, 1882, and went to Drogheda, She left Drogheda the 12th instant, stating she" was going to Mohill, county Leitrim, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., c. 112. General Prisons Board, December 30, 1882. ( 254G1 m.— 46961.) PARTICDLABS relative to convict William Stewart, 14551, convicted in Galway, county Galway, at Quarter Sessions, on 12th October, 187( J, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to seven years' penal servitude:— 38 years of age on con- viction, can read and write, belongs to the Church of Ireland, married, has four children, is a shoe- maker, born in Clones, county Monaghan, resided before conviction in Meath- street, Dublin, where his friends reside; dark hair, dark- brown eyes, light- brown eyebrows, large nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7£ inches high ; boil mark back of neck, kick mark on right shin, marks on left leg. This convict was liberated from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 12th April, 1882, and went to Dublin, and subsequently to Belfast. He left his residence in Belfast without notifying to the Police, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act, 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 14, 1882. ( 25365M.— 40788.) Convict John Desmond, 14,776 ( not reporting himself), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th Novem- ber, 1882. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 11th December, 1882, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School, at Belfast: — Arthur Hull, 16 years of age, fair hair, blue eyes, heavy eyebrows, regular nose, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, born at Ballymacarrett, Belfast, formerly belonged to same place; parents reside at Barrow- on- Furness ; large burn mark on ball of left leg, large burn mark on inside of same leg ; large ears. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Light brown tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue cloth Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, nailed blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with fl. Elizabeth Anne Rice, native of 56, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, who left her home on the 17th Octo- ber, 1882, has not returned thereto. Cavan, DESCRIPTION of Margaret Reilly ( mother's surname Keenan), native of Corleckduff, who stands charged with having, on the 18th December, 1882, in the barony of Clonkee, parish of Drumgoon, deserted her infant male child, aged about two months, thereby placing its lifo in danger, and for whose arrest a warrant has been issued :— Good- looking, long thin nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair; woro a red shawl with green mixture through it, drab- coloured dress, black stuff quilted petticoat, and elastic side boots ; is a farmer's daughter. And His Excellency hereby promises that every effort shall bo made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having information to give may com- municate it to R. D. Crotty, Esq., Resident Magis- trate at Ennistymon ; to Owen Wynne, Esq., Sub- Inspector, Royal Irish Constabulary, at Ennistymon, or to any otlior Government Official in Great Britain or Ireland. DESCRIPTION of two men, who gave their names as James Wilson and Michael Murphy, refused to state their native places, who . stand charged with having, on the 4th December, 1882, in the barony of Islands, parish of Drumcliffe, picked the pocket of John Kelly, and stole from him the sum of £ 3. Supposed to have committed crimes elsewhere :— 1. Small wart on right side of nose ; dark eyes, long straight nose, daTk complexion, oval face, medium make, 6 feet G inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face except mous- tache, and very small side whiskers ; wore a low felt hat, two overcoats, one a gray duster, tike ^ second brown plaid tweed Ulster, dark twilled serge coat, gray tweed trow'aers, and dark twilled sergej vest; speaks with a Dablin accent; states he buyseicattle oo commission. 2. Gray eyes, short nose, fresh com face, medium make, 5 feet 4J inch 28 or 30 years of age, dark brown hair, 5rSaves\ face except moustache • wore a soft jerry h knitted woollen vest, black frieze top coa" tweed coat, gray tweed t. rowsers, dark tweed v" carried an oilcloth coat; speaks with an 1'., accent; states he is a cattle deiler. November, 1882, in the barony of Duhallow, parish ofNohovaldaly, indecently assaulted ant( attempted to commit a rape on Eliza Murphy :— Awkward gait, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a low jerry hat, black tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a labourer; sometimes works at Kilmallock, county Limerick. Kanturk, Nov. 30th, 1882. ( 55355 c.— 7808.) Donegal. Samuel O'Donnell ( embezzlement), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 27th October, 1882. Down. The person, name and native place unknown ( cattle stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 3rd November, 1882, not arrested. Dublin. DESCRIPTION of William Ward, native of Dublin City ( particular street not known, supposed Church- street), who stands charged with having, on the 20th December, 1882, in the barony of Castleknock, parish of Finglas, stolen six sheep ( hoggets and lambs) off the lands of Finglas West, the property of Luke Duffy, and sold same to Richard Dawson, butcher, 44, Amiens- street, Dublin, for £ 10 :—- Brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 45 years of age, black hair; wore a jerry hat, brown over- coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a herd. DESCRIPTION of a man, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 14tli inst., at Dromod, in the barony of Iveragh, parish of Dromod, seriously, assaulted Sub- Constable William Higgins, by striking him on the head with a spear, thereby inflicting a scalp wound :— Youthful appearance, about 6 feet high ; no beard or whiskers ; wore a white flannel suit; may have a wound from a blow caused by the Sub- Constable's sword ; was one of a party of eight or nine disguised poachers. , Caherciveen, Dec. 20, 1882. ( 55435 c.-— 8018.). James Rooney ( horse stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 14th November, 1882. William Hoey ( intimidation), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd November, 1882. James Dunne ( name supposed fictitious) ( sheep stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Crv, 6th October, 1882. Fermanagh. Benjamin Hawtrey ( stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13tli October, 1882, has not been arrested. Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardralian, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or ari£ of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to tli result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in the above rewards a FREE PAR: and the Special Protection of of Her Majesty's Dominion! DESCRIPTION of John Kennedy, native of Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 15th Decem- ber, 1882, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Kilcoleman, stolen the sum of £ 24 sterling ( twenty on ® of which has been recovered), the property of Cornelius Murphy, of Milltown, in whose house he lodged. The remainder which may be in his possession are three single notes, bank and numbers unknown:— Large gray eyes, very cocked small nose.' fresh complexion, round face, very stout make,. 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; woro a round hard hat, black cloth coat, much faded and torn under armpits; corduroy trowsers, jagged at bottoms; and dark tweed vest. Will endeavour to emigrate to Liverpool. Warrant in the hands of the Sub- Inspector at Killorglin. Killorglin, Dec. 17, 1882. ( 55436 c.— 7984.) Kildare. John Nolan, of 23, St. Andrew- street, Dublin, whose description first appeared in the Hue- and- Cry of 22nd September, 1882, has not returned to his home. John Cross ( arson), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 1st September, 1882. King's. DESCRIPTION of Laurence Fennelly, alias Patrick Hogan, native of Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd November, 1882, in the barony of Philipstown Lower, parish of Kilclonfert, when arrested for larceny, had in his possession a silver Geneva watch, No. 40,750, the letter " N" scratched on the inside of case, also a steel watch key, both valule for £ 1, which are believed to have been stolen. DESCRIPTION of David Taylor, native of Derrygarve, who stands charged with having, on the 25th Decem- ber, 1882, in tho barony of Loughinshollin, parish of Artrea, stabbed one Francis M'Callion, and inflicted on him serious bodily harm :— Brown eyes, red comploxion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair, very slight dark moustache; wove a tweed cap with two peaks, blue frock coat, dark trowsers, and blue vpsj: is a servant boy and weaver; is likely to hire as a farm servant. Magherafelt, Dec. 27, 1882. ( 56171 c.— 4213.) Robert Johnston, convict on licence, native of Londonderry, who stands charged with having failed to report himself to Police at Coleraine; not arrested); Hue- and- Cry, 24tli October, 1882. Convict E. Kelly, alias Thomas M'Cartney ( not arrested); Hue- and- Cry, 10th October, 1882. Louth. DESOUIFTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 19th December, 1882, in the barony of Louth, parish of Louth, and townland of Drumgoolan, broken out of tho dwelling- house of Margaret Duff in the night time, and with having stolen therefrom the following articles of fomale wearing apparel, viz. :— 1 plain linsey dress, 1 Russel cord brown dress with jacket of same, trimmed with velvet round tho sleeves; 1 Cashmere green dross, double skirt, plaited in front; 1 black Cashmere scarf shawl, 1 pair of elastic boots ( new); 3 chemises, Ac.:— Pockpitted; short thick nose, dark complexion, low set mako, 4 feet 6 inches high, about 30 to 35 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark gray shawl about her head. Ardee, December 22, 1882. ( 54957 c.— 5841.) , Charles Reid ( doscribed in Hue- and- Cry of 21st November, 1882) native of Wallace- row, Yellowbatter, who, on tho 5th November, 1882, left his home, has not yet returned thereto. Patrick Burke ( robbery of boots), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, Slst October, 1882. Mayo. DESCRIPTION of James Heskin ( mother's surname Donnellan), native of Creevagh ( Neale), who stands charged with having, on the 18th December, 1882, in the barony of Kilmaine, parish of Ballinrobe, assaulted Patt Feerick, of Creevagh, by striking him on the head with a stone, and inflicting a wound endangering his life :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, abont 23 years of age ; wore a gray frieze frock coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed Vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant issued for his arrest. Ballinrobe, Dec. 27, 1882. DESCRIPTION of Mary Byrne, native of Drogheda, who stands charged with having, on the 26th December, 1882, in the barony of Farney, parish of Killanny, and . townland of Linashanagh, stolen from the dwelling- house of Laurence Curtis, the following articles of female wearing apparel, viz.:— One shawl, with white and black stripes and square black centre ; one pair of laced boots, with yellow sprigs ( nearly- new); one checker apron, and one pair of worsted stockings ; all value for about £ 1:— Stooped shoulders, slightly pockpitted, wants both eye, teeth. Very small eyes, short thick nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 4 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, light brown hair; wore a brown skirt, with three flounces, a dark gray shawl about her head, and a plaid one under it., and a black jacket under both, and new elastic boots ; is a tramp beggarwoman. DESCRIPTION of a child found deserted in the R. C. Chapel at Nenagh, on 26th instant:— A female infant, 3 or 4 months old, well cared and nourished ; dressed in black cap with gray fur border ; yellowish cotton dress with black spots ; linsey, white cotton, and flannel underclothing. The child was wrapped up in a woman's white woollen muffler and a cloak of good dark coloured material, but worn. Nenagh, December 27, 1882. ( 50481 c.— 8074.) Solid silver cylinder flute, all holes covered by keys, in three lengths, mouth- piece lined with box- wood, made by Carte and Boehm ; value £ 29 8s. 2. Silver pencil case, with large top, containing a yellow Cairn- Gorm stone, five- sided, and with en- graved tracery on the sides ; value for £ 1. WHEREAS by Proclamation, dated the. 26th May, 1882, His Excellency offered a reward of Two Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of Mrs. Henry Smythe, in the demesne at Barbavilla, in the county of Westmeath, on the 2nd April, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in or privy to the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them concerned in this Murder, a A FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS. DESCRIPTION of an ass, cart, and harness, the property of Peter Breen, which were stolen from Ballytracy, parish of Kilcormick, barony of Gorey, and county of Wexford, on the morning of the 25th of December, 1882 :— A large gray gelding ass, with strong limbs, newly shod, in good condition, and about ten years old; one of the fore feet was slightly turned. The cart was painted blue and had red wheels ; it had no name ; there were two circles cut on the back of the cart. The hames were shod with iron, and the back- hand consisted of a chain with a long wire link on the leading side. All were value for about £ 8, and are supposed to have been stolen by a tramp, name unknown, about 5 feet 8 inches in height, with a dark beard and dark complexion. Gorey, December 29, 1882.
