No. 11,040, chased case, attached one imitation • rojd ' All* i t with gold locket, blood- stone shapeof a shield, I'Tul H small gold shield in centre, and on tbe other side a blue stone with gold Masonic emblem in centre,' one lady's gold Geneva watch, maker's name, Grey, of fteic'strr; one long gold lady's Albert chain, with broken piece, attached with gold seal and key; one lady's long gold chain, sfake pattern; one pair lady's gold earrings, bjfd pattern, gold fringes at the bottom with a stone in each ; one gent's gold signet ring, with initials W. P. II.; one gent's gold mourning ring, with a cavity for hair, & c.; one lady's black Cashmere dress, trimmed with black satin; one black cloth twilled jacket, plain pattern, with black cloth buttons; one pair lady's buttoned boots; one pair lady's dark brown kid gloves; one lady's white, one pink, and one dark red silk neckties ; one gent's blue and lavender silk necktie; ono small iron safe money- box, containing about 10j. in silver and Copper; one round brown tin box j one card, giving all the trains between Manchester and Liverpool, by Mary J. Leslie, domestic servant, and is of tho following description:— About 20 years old, 5 feet 2 inches high, slender bttild, flat white face, dark hair; her back teeth decaycd ; uboutNive teeth in front of upper gum closed together, which would make it appear they were prominent Dressed in dark blue " print dress, black straw hat witli gray feather in, and . two imitations of red roses; may be wearing the stolen ^ jacket. County Police Office, Old Trafford, December 8, 1882. ( 25343 M.— 46745.) STOLEN, from dwelling- bouse at Prestwich, between 8 P. M., 6th, and 4 A. M., 7th inst., one small silver lever hunting watch, double case, white dial, name inside, " Harry Main," Derby Hotel, Bootle ; one gent's gold ring, with large topaz ; one lady's small gold ring, set with rubies; one long silver chain, bead pattern; one black cloth coat jacket; one gray dolman, trimmed with black braid and tassels; two pair's of lady's buttoned boots, part worn ; one red flannel dressing gown, trimmed with white braid; one lavender silk skirt; one white satin bodice, trimmed with Maltese lace; one black travelling bag ; one fawn plaid stuff dress ; two black hats, one with black feather, by a domestic servant named Annie Hoey, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 2 inchi* r high, dark brown hair, broad full face,' surly expression, very small dirty hands, speaks with Irish accent; slie stated some time since that she intended to seek an Engagement at the Queen's Theatre, Dublin. She has a sweetheart residing in Dublin at 152, Upper Sherriff- strect, whose name is James O'Brien ; slio has a, friend named Mrs. Barnes, who resides at 16, Conner's Cottages, Coombe, Dublin, to whom she writes occasionally. ( 25' Lictnce- holder, Philip Doyle, arrested; Hue- and- Cr tima therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on the 6th May, 1883: And wherens- Jhe time therein specified for giving such information has expired : Now We. the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland, are pleased to reDew the saitjl offer, and We do. hereby offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to th* conviction of any of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for suphjortnate information as shall, within the same period, lead to the same result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from the sc^ ne on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Now We are also pleased44Weby to « ffer ir anv person concerned in or privy to these Murders ( not being one of tho above- mentioned four Murderers) who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the Said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, In addition to a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. And We are further pleased to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any such person concerned in or privy to these Murders, who shall, within the said last- mentioned period, give such private information as shall lead to the conviction of aDy one of the said four Murderers, or of any other person concerned in or privy to the Murders. AND We are further pleased hereby to offer a reward ot FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the identification of any person concerned in or privy to the Murders, or of the horse and car used on the occasion, such last- mentioned reward of Five Hundred Pounds to be paid upou the information being corroborated to Our satisfaction by other information iu Our possession, even though no person should be made amenable to justice as a result thereof. And We hereby promise that every effort shall be made to insure that the name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to any of the said rewards for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. TION of the four men, wanted for murder . vendish and Mr. Burke, the Chief and ecretaries for Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, urday, 6th instant, between 7 and 8 P. M. : — About 35 years old, stout make, dark complexion, whiskers, and. moustache recently clipped, so as a bristling appearance, narrow forehead ollow or dinge on bridge of nose; wore a jerry hat and dark clothes. 2. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache ; brown faded coat, as if much exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small dark moustache, no whiskers; soft black hat and dark clothes. 4. About 30 years, sandy hair and moustache, beard on chin ; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The height cannot be given of any, all being sitting on an- outside car, driven by a man between 35 and 40 years, red bloated face, with a few days' growth of beard on; dark or brown coat, supposed frieze, and low soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the car had either a dark green or a red panel. The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. A PROCLAMATION. By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPENCER. WHErEAS Mr. Denis J. Field of Westmoreland- street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, felor- foualy and malici- ously stabbed and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on an out- side car which was waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place : Now, We,- John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- Ireland, for the better apprehending and bringing to iustice the offenders and their accomplice hereby offer a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within three months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the said offenders or their accomplices, or any of them. And a further reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for sucl' private information as shall, within the said pen . lead to the same result. And \\ nereby promise that every effort shall be made to insure that tbe name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to the said reward for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. Any person having any information to give, may communicate it to the Assistant Under Secretary for Police and Crime, Dublin Castle, to the Super- intendent of the Detective Department of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, Dublin Castle, or to any other Government official in Great Britain or Ireland. Given at Dublin Castle, this 28th day of November, 1889. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. PARTICULAR* relative to convict William Stewart 14551, convicted in Galway, county Galway, at Quarter Sessions, on 13th October, 1876, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to seven years' penal servitude :— 38 years of age on con- viction, can read and write, belongs to the Church of Ireland, married, has four children, is a shoemaker born in Clones, county Monaghan, re- sided before conviction in Meath- street, Dublin, where his friends reside; dark hair, dark- brown eyes, light- brown eyebrows, large nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 6 feet inches high, boil ma k back of n^ ck, kick mark on right shin marks on left leg. This convict was liberated from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 13th April, 1882, and went to Dublin, and subsequently to Belfast. He left his residence ? Convict John Desmond, 14,71* 6 ( not reporting himself), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th Novem- ber, 1882. ROYAL IRISH Antrim. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 11th December, 1882, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School, at Belfast:— Arthur Hull, 16 years of age, fair hair, blue eyes, heavy eyebrows, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 ' feet 5 inches high, born at Ballymacarrett, Belfast, formerly be- longed to same place ; parents reside at Barrow- on- Farness L, large burn mark on ball of left leg, large burn mark on inside of same leg ; large ears. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded :— Light brown tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue cloth Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, nailed blucher boots, and woollen stoekings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tho expense of hi* conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ l. Belfast. DESCRIPTION of Elizabeth Anne Rice, native of 56, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, who left her home at 56, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, on the 17th October, 1W82. in the bareay of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill. and has not since been heard of, and it is supposed some accident has befallen her, or has been taken away by some person :— Blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 4 feet high, about 11 years of age, dark brown hair cut short j wore a dark navy blue dress, with kilty plaiting, and a largo Paisley shawl, a little faded; had no boots on. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Daly, native of Kilsarn, and John Reilly, native of Carnagh, who stand charged with having, on the 25th November, 1882, at Kilcogy, in the barony of Clonmahon, parish oi Drumlummon, grievously Assaulted Thomas Fitzpatrick, Of Kilmore, county Longford, Patrick Murray, of Portanure, and Francis Murray, of Portanure, county Cavan, by striking them with sticks or whips, inflicting bodily harm, and thereby placing the life of Francis Murray in danger. 1. Smart appearance, high bridge on nose, small dark moustache, no whiskers, dark or brown eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair ; wore a jerry hat, supposed will wear tweed coat, trowsers. and rest, lately purchased, colour not known; is a farmer's son. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 31 years of age, light brown hair ; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, a good deal worn ; ia a farmer's SON. WHEREAS by Proclamation dftted the 2nd February, 1889, His Excellency, offered,, a reward of Five Hundred Pounds to any person or persons who should, within a limited tinjp therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the Murder of John Lennane, of Breffa South, near Miltown Malbay, in the county of Clare, on the night of the 24th January, 1882: And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired: And His Excellency is pleased to renew the said offer, and doth hereby offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed this Murder. His Excellency is also pleased to offer to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murder, other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, Concerned in this Murder, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS His Excellency is further pleased to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS ' for such private information, give i within the same period, as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the'Murder. DESCRIPTION of harness, the property of Major- General George De Renzy, of Willbrook House, which was stolen from his stable, on the lands of Willbrook, parish of Rathfarnham. barony of Rath- down, on the 3rd November, 1882 :— One tingle set of silver- mounted harness, crest, '' rampant lion"; value for about £ 10. Is supposed to bnve been brought for sale to some part ot county Wicklow within the last few days. The cr^ jt has been removed but the mark of it probably remains on tbe harness. James Dunne ( name supposed fictitious)' ( sheep stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, flth October, 1882. * r DESCRIPTION of two men, who gave their names a » James Wilson and Michael Murphy, refused to state their native places, who stand charged with having, on the 4th December, 1882. in the barony of Islands, parish of Drumcliffa picked the pocket, of John Kelly, and stole from him the sum of £ 3. Supposed to have committed crimes elsewhere :— 1. Small wart on right side of note ; dark eyes, long straight nose, dark complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, shaj| g3 all his face except mous- tache, and very small side whiskers wore a low felt hat, two overcoats, one a gray duster, the second a brown plaid tweed Ulster, dark twilled serge coat, gray tweed trowsers, and dark twilled serge vest; speaks with a Dublin accent; states he buys cattle on commission. 2. Gray eyes, short nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 jfoet 4 J inches bigh, about 23 or 30 years of age, dark brown hair, shaves all his face except moustache ; wore a soft jerry hat, black ktiitted woollen vest, black frieze top coat, brown tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, Hark tweed vest, and carried an oilcloth coat; speaks with an English accent; states he is a cattle de ler. James Fitzgerald ( assault endangering life), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th October, 1882. . Cork. DESCRIPTION of Philip Denehy, ( mother's surname Sullivan), native of Cloonts, county Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the 26th November, 1882, in the barony of Duhallow. parish of Nohovaldaly, indecently assaulted and attempted to commit a rape on Eliza Murphy:— Awkward gait, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a low jerry hat, black tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a labourer; sometimes works at Kilmallock, county Limerick. Kanturk, Nov. 30, 1882. ( 55355 c.— 7808.) DESCRIPTION of John Gilbert, native of Lurgan, county Armagh, who, on the 15th inetf ~ barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, under sec. 12 of Prevention of Crime (. 1889, and committed for one month to Coj his failing to find sureties to keep the p< letters J. J. on loft wrist, three blue doti left hand, thumbs of both hands crookei jointed, varicose veins in calf of left leg, long nose fair complexion, long face, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 20 years of age7 wore a fur cap, dark gray coat, gray trowsi vest; is a painter. This person may have committed crime elsewhei as there is nothing known about him in where he stated he is from, and that his fi| shoemaker and lived in Church place. Kanturk, Nov. 26, 1883. ( 55334 c. Fermanagh. Benjamin Hawtrey ( stealing), described in hue- and- Cry of 13th October, 1882, hss not been arrested. Galway DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rabassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one ot the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. DESCRIPTION of Laurence Fen^^, alias Patrick Hogan, native of Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd November, 1* 82, in the barony of Philipstown Low » r, parish of Kilclonfert, when arrested for larceny, had in his possession a silver Geneva watch, No. 40,710, the letter " N" scratched on tbe inside of case, also a steel watch key, both value for £ 1, which are believed to have be? n stolen. ( See Hue- aod- Cry of 21st November, 1883, under Queen's County):-— Small hollow on bridge of nose, which is flat and tmck; blue eyes, thick nose, dark complexion, regular f » ce, slight make, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a jerry hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, and strong boots; is a sheemaker. Peter Clarke ( young offender), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 18th October, 1882. Leitrim. The two persons, names and native places un- known ( robbery of arms), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 3rd November, 1882. limerick. DESCRIPTION of three men, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on tbe Slst August, 1883, stolen the sum of twenty pounds ten shillings, the property of Mrs. Margaret Hennessy, from her dwelling- house, in the barony of Lower Connello, parish of Kilscannell:—- 1. Very tall, no hair on face ; wore a je< ry hat, dark tweed coat, and white flannel drawers. 3. About 6 feet 9 inches in height, black whiskers with rest of face shaved ; wore a jerry hat and dark clothes. 8. About middle height, no hair on face ; wore a jerry hat and dark clothes. Robert Johnston, convict on licence, native of Londonderry, who stands charged with having failed to report himself to Police at Coleraine; not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 24th October, 1882. Convict E.
