WHBREAS by our Proclamation, dat: d the 9th May, 1882, We offered a reward of Ten Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, withia a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on the 6th May, 1882: And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired : Now We, the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland, are pleased to renew the said offer, and We do hereby offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months Irorn the dato hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of auy of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the same period, lead to the same result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from the scene on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Now We are also pleased hereby to offer to any person concerned in or privy to these Murders ( not being one of the above- mentioned four Murderers) wno shall, withiu three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and tho special protection of the Crown in any pari of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. Given at Dublin Castle, this 10th day of November, 1882. DESCRIPTION of the four men, wanted for murder of Lord F. Cavendish and Mr. Burke, the Chief and Under Secretaries for Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, on Saturday, 6th instant, between 7 and 8 P. M. :— 1. About 35 years old, stout make, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache recently clipped, so as to give a bristling appearance, narrow forehead, natural hollow or dinge on bridge of nose; wore ft soft black jerry hat and dark clothes, 2. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache ; brown faded coat, as if much exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small dark moustache, no whiskers ; soft black hat and dark clothes. 4. About 30 years, sandy hair and moustache, beard on chin ; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The height cannot be given of any, all being sitting on an outside car, driven by a man between 35 and 40 years, red bloated face, with a few days' growth of beard on; dark or brown coat, supposed frieze, and low soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the car had either a dark green or a red panel. The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Field, of Westmoreland- street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, feloniously and malici- ously fctibbe l and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on an out- side car which was waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place : Now, We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- Ireland, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the offenders and their accomplices, hereby offer a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS ' to any person or persons who, within three months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the convection of the said offenders or their accomplices, or any of them. And a further reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the said period, lead to the same result. And We hereby promise that every effortihall bo made to insure that thd name or names of any person or persons1 who may become entitled to the R » id reward for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in aay manner in which such person shall desire. HAMILTOJ L H t< A K J * T m THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, DECEMBER 8, 1882. - i » PABTICDLARS relative to convict John Desmond, 14,770, convicted at MaCroom, county Cork, at the Quarter Sessions, on the 17 th April, 1878, for assault with intent to rob, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 85 years of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, married, has two children, is a repairer of fishing tackle, born in Barrack- street, Cork, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, average make, 5 feet 8f inches high, has a cut- mark over each eyebrow. This man was released on licence from Spike Island Prison, 19th May, 1882, and went to reside at Queenstown. He has failed to report himself to the Police on change of residence, and his present whereabouts are unknown. He is supposed to have gone to sea. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 113. General Prisons Board, Dublin Ca3tle. November 13, 1982. ( 35188 M.— 15451. ROYAL IRISH LARY. Antrim. Young offenders, John Fyfe and William J. Tate, described in Hue- and- Cry of 15th September last, have not been arrested. Belfast. DESCRIPTION of Elizabeth Anne Rice, native of 56, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, who left her home at 56, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, on the 17th October, 1882. in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill. and has not since been heard of, and it is supposed some accident has befallen her, or has been taken away by soma person :— Blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, ronnd face, slight make, 4 feet high, about 11 years of age, dark brown hair cut short; wore a dark navy blue dress, with kilty plaiting, and a large Paisley shawl, a little faded; had no boots on. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Daly, native of Kilsarn. and John Reilly, native of Carnegh, who stand charged with having, on the 35th November, 1882, at Kilcogy, in the barony of Clonmahon, " parish of Drumlummon, grievously assaulted Thomas Fitzpatrick, of Kilmore, county Longford, Patrick Murray, of Portanure, and Francis Murray, of Portanure, county Cavan, by striking them with sticks or whips; inflicting bodily harm, and thereby placing the life of Francis Murray in danger. 1. Smart appearance, high bridge on nose, small dark moustache, no whiskers, dark or brown eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark bair ; wore a jerry hat, supposed will wear tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. lately purchased, colour not known; is a farmer's son. 3. Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches higb, about 31 years of age, light brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, a good deal worn ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hickey, native of Lahinch, who stands charged with having, on the night of fith or morning ol 7th August, 1882, in the barony of of Corcomroe, parish of Kilmanaheen, stolen two sheep, the property of Patrick Lynch, of Ennis- tymon:— Slightly stooped shoulders, slouching gsit, holds his head down, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pockets when walking, dark eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, long dark coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a butcher. DESCRIPTION of Philip Denehy, ( mother's surname Sullivan), native of Cloonts, county Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the 26th November, 1983, in the barony of Duhallow pariah of Nohovaldaly, indecently assaulted and attempted to commit a rape on Eliza Murphy:— Awkward gait, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a low jerry hat, black tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, and gray tweed vest; is a labourer; sometimes works at Kilmallock, county Limerick. Kanturk, Nov. 30, 1883. ( 55356 c.— 7808.) DSSCRIPTION of John Desmond, alias Renning, native of Cork, who was found in the town of Charle- ville, on 29th Nov., under suspicious circumstances. He had in his possession 61 sovereigns, 25 half- sovereigns, 14 florins, 11 half- crowns, J*. 6d. in silver, and 5\ d. in coppers; also discharge papers from 8th Foot, dated 9nd Nov., 1878, and medal for good conduct:— Shaves all his face, except monstache; sunken eyes and jaws, light blue eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5feet 5 inches high, about 40 years ot age, iron- gray hair, wore a hard black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Charlerille, Nov. 99, 1883. ( 55350 c.— 7784.) DESCRIPTION of John Gilbert, native of Lurgan, county Armagh, who. on the 15th instant, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Cloufert, was arrested under sec. 19 of Prevention of Crime ( Ireland) Act, 1889, and committed for one month to Cork Gaol on his failing to find sureties *, o keep the peace :— Tbe letters J. J. on left wrist, three blue dots on back of left hand, thumbs of both bands crooked as if dis- jointed, varicose veias in calf of left leg, blue eyes, long nose. fair complexion, long face, medium make, 5 f » et 11 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair ; wore a fur cap, dark gray coat, gray trowsers and vest; is a painter. This person may have committed crime elsnwhere, as there is nothing known about him in Lurgan, where he stated he is from, and that his father is a shoemaker and lived in Church place. Samuel O'Donnell ( embezzlement , not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 37th October, 1882. Down. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 24th or morning of the 25th October, 1889, in the barony of Lower Iveagh, parish of Dromore, stolen out of a field at Coolsallagh, two bullocks, the property of John Morrow, which he afterwards sold to William Fishbourne, of Bally- nahinch :— Respectable appearance, cheek bones rather high, sharp chin, small bands, soft and white as if unused to work, small eyes, regular noae, fresh complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair and small light moustache ; wore a low hard hat, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of harness, the property of Major- General George De Renzy, of Willbrook House, which was stolen from his stable, on the lands of Willbrook, parish of Rathfarnham, barony of Rath- down, on the 3rd November, 1882 :— One tingle set of silver- mounted harness, crest rampant lion"; value for about £ 10. Is supposed to have been brought for sale to some part of the county Wicklow within the last few days, The crest has been removed, but the mark of it probably remains on the harness. Benjamin Hawtrey ( stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th October, 1882, bas not been arrested. Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craugbwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one ot the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to tbe same result. \ His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addjfcc. tr the above rewards a FREE PARDON / and the Special Protection oj the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or anjfcf them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. DESCRIPTION ot two persons, namas and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 97th October, 1889, in the baroay of Mohill, parish of Cloone, appeared disguised and with blackened faces, and armed with guns, visited the bouses of Archibald and Arthur Nicholl, ot Drumbore, and forcibly took away two guns and a pistol from sad houses, the property of said Archibald and Arthur Nicholl:— 1. Blackened face, stout make, 5 faet 8 inches high, about 96 years of age, no beard or whiskers ; wore a flat cap, and a cloak over shoulders. 2. Blackened face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches bi* h, about 90 years of age, no beard; wore a hat like a policomao's helmet, cerduroy trowsers, and a bag over his shoulders. DESCRIPTION of Charles Reid, native of Wallace- row, Yellowbatter, who, on the 6th November, 1882, left his home, in the barony of Ferrard, parish ot St. Peter's, and as he has not since been heard of, it is feared some ill may have befallen him:— Tender brown eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 46 or 47 yeara of age, brown hair and whiskers turning gray ; wore a fur cap, dark frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer ; served for 21 yeara in the army; mind supposed to be weak.
