BSURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Wanted for night- poaching and shooting with intent to murder, at Bostock, near Middlewich, Cheshire, on morning of 25th ultimo :— JOHN HULSE, about 34 or 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, heavy black moustache ( which may be shaved off), no whiskers, if not shaved every day looks very dark, stout build, large round features, rather large head, and is a labourer ; dressed in pilot cloth jacket and vest, dark cloth trousers. Frequents low public- houses, and plays a concertina or accordian. Information to Mr. Supt. Hindley, County Con- stabulary, Middlewich, Cheshire, who holds a warrantor his apprehension,— Bow- street, December 8. On 25th ultimo, the dead Body of a female Child, appa- rently about 8 days old, wan discovered in a ditch, at Hidden ha in, with a severe gash on the throat, and a wound on the top of head. At the adjourned inquest, held at. Had- denham on 1st instant, a verdict, of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' was returned. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Denson, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, December 4. Absconded from Llangadock, Carmarthenshire, on 25th ultimo, charged on a warrant with night poaching and feloniously shooting at and wounding one George Joyce, on night of 24th ultimo :— JONAH EVANS, of Llangadock, a mason, 31 years of age, 5 feet 4i inches high, florid com- plexion, stout build, dark brown hair, whiskers, ard mous- tache, dark grey eyes, scar on first finger of left hand, blue mark and scar on left hand, and two scars on left thigh; was dressed in grey cloth coat and vest, light moleskin trousers, brown loggings, strong lace- up boots, and black felt hat. IB well known at Morriston, near Swansea, having lived there for some time. Is a notorious poacher, and was convicted of night poaching in 1878. Stolen from the person on 30th ultimo :— a plain gold keyless hunting Watch, repeater duplex escapement, makers — Hunt and Roskell, Manchester, No. 12718, with inscription " Presented to Ralph Fawcett Ainsworth, M. D., by his friend G. B. Worthington, Sharston Hall, etc., January 29th, 1877.' £ 10 reward will be paid by the owner for recovery of Watch and conviction of the thief or thieves. A burg'^ ry was committed between II p. m. 6th and 3 a. m. 7th instant, at Liuton Lodge, West Street, Reigate ; the thieves regaled themselves with bread and cheese ai d ale, but, upon being disturbed they left behind them in a hedge, near the house, a 6- barre led revolver, 2 screwdrivers, an old chisel, and a pair of pincers. Stolen by means of burglary on 5th instant at Walmer : — 10 silver desert Knives and Forks, bone handles ; a small silver Candlestick ; 2 silver plate Covers, all marked ' J. B.' and crest,— a lion ; a brown suit of Clothes; a black cloth Coat and Vest; a pair of gent's Drawers, marked ' W. E. Bay ley ,' and a meerschaum Pipe. Information to Supt. H. Betwapn 1.30 p. m. 3rd and 8 a. m. 4t. h instant, the Con- servative Co- operative Stores, Rawtenstall, were broken and entered by cutting the panels out of a door at the back of the premises with a wood chisel, about I t inch broad, then un- locking the door, the key being left, inside the lock, and 19s. lid. in Money stolen therefrom, consisting of 7s. lid. in Copper, two Half- Crowns, four Sixpences, and five Shil- ling Pieces. All the drawers were ransacked, the thief evidently being in scarch of money. Information to Coanty Police Office, Bacup, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 6. During the night of 27t ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. Abraham Smith, Langley, Oldbury, was broken into and stolen therein :— 2 small silver neck Chains; a pair of children's kid Boots, size 9 ; a pair of boy's leather Boots, high tops, size 12 ; a pair of boy's strong nailed Boots; a pair of small patent leather Boots, buttoned, 3 buttors each side, size 3 ; a pair of ladj's kid Boots, black bottoms, toe- capped, size 5 ; 6 yards of white Flannel ; several cotton print Aprons ; half- doz. black ha:. dled Knives and Forks, marked ' F. ( a crown) warranted solid steel, Sheffield, G.' on blades, common make. Stolen, same night, from the office of Mr. D. M. Sadler, Dog Kennel Brewery, Langley :— a pint and half Bottle of Whiskey, labelled ' Dunville,' and £ 1 Is. 6d. in Silver and Copper Money. Stolen by means of burglary, from Grange Farm, Leek Woottor., netr Kenilworth, during the night of 27th ultimo : — a silver plated Inkstand, with inscription, ' John Burbury, Wootton Grange, presented by the Gler. ners of Leek and Hill Wootton, on his Wedding Day, 12th Sept., 1872'; a silver Card Silver; a pair of silver Spectacles, in brown leather case ; 7 steel dinner Forks, white handles ; 8 Knives, white handles; an electro- plated bed- room Candlestick, marked 1 W. JU'; a riding Whip; 7 bottles of Port Wine ; lb. of Butter ; 2 market Baskets ; 3 Rabbits, 1 Hare, and 1 Phea- sant. Supposed by 3 young men, who were seen in the neigh- bourhood on the night of the robbery :— lst, very tall and thin, about 20 years of age ; dressed in grey cloth ; 2nd, short stature, about 16 years of age ; dressed in grey cloth ; 3rd, short stature, no further description can be given of this mau. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING The man wanted for stealing a Horse at Upton Pyne, Devon, advertised in Police Gazette, lst instant, dispossd of the grey Cob, he exchanged at Crediton, Devon, at Plymouth, on the 25ih ultimo ; he has since stolen a Horse at Iv^ bridge, Devon ( recovered). He has in his possession a Weymouth £ 5 note of Messrs. Glyn, Currie, and Mills, paid to him for the horse stolen at Ivybridge. lie is 28 years of age, looks very much older, 5 feet 1 inch high, freckled sallow com- plexion, broad forehead, small features, blue eyes, brown hair, clean shaved, slight build, erysipelas marks ou face, scald marks on back of both legs; has a watch with no hands to it; dressed in c, suit of grey tweed, round jacket, tight- fitting trousers ( lighter colour than jacket), small brown hard round poll hat, lace- up boots with brass hoops. He is in the habit of staying with prostitutes, and leaving the horse he has stolen at an inn. Supposed to be the man who has stolen . five horses in Somerset in October and November last. In- formation to the l> puty Chief Constable of Devon, Exeter. — Bow- street, December 8. Stolen from a field at Failsworth, between 12 noon 2nd and 12 noon 3rd instant:— a dark blown Mare. Supposed by a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, short dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed in drab mole- skin trousers, short dark jacket aud cap, and strong lace- up boots. Information to the CouDty Police Office, Old Tratt'ord, Manchester.— Bow- street, December 8. Wanted under warrant for larceny as bailee of a Horse Cart, and 300 pieces of Earthenware : — ROBERT WILLIAM: GIBSON, of Witton Northwich, hawker, 31 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, browu hair and eyes. It is a brown Mare, about 14 hands ; the cart has the name of ' Charles Gilson' upon it. Robt. Gibson left Runcorn on 2od instant. Information to Inspector Millirgton, Cheshire Constabulary, Northwich, who holds the warrant.— Bow- nreet, December 8. Strayed or stolen from a field at Westoniug, Beds, during the night of lst instant :— two in calf Cows, in fair condition, one is a large red and white cow, the red is a light red, rather of the Alderney colour ; the other is a white cow, with a red spotted head and neck, a smaller than the first oue described. Information to Mr, Chief Supt. Longden, Police Office. Bilston, or Inspector Cook, Police Office, Willenhall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, December 8. Wanted on warrant for stealing a Pony, Cart, and Har- ness ( recovered), at Brenchley, on 1st October last:— JAMES BIRD, alias HIGGS and HEYMAN, about 23 years of age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, no whiskers or mous- tache, light hair cut short, rather broad face, and fiat nose ; dressed in a monkey jacket, white slop underneath, light moleskin trousers, and soft billycock hat; a chair bottomer and sometimes sweeps chimneys, travels in Kent, Surrey, Sussex, and Hants. Stolen from a field, near Radstock, during the Light of 29th ultimo :— A brown horse Pony, 13 hands high, 6 years old, white streak down face, in low condition, and carries his head low when going, was bought in Frome Fair, on 29th ult. Description of ROBERT CLAPHAM, wanted on a charge of stealing 6 Bullocks :— 19 years of age, 5 feet high, fresh complexion, brown hair, speck on one eye ; dressed in a long dark overcoat and billycock hat; is by trade a butcher. Supposed by a woman about 30 years of age, and slender build ; dressed in a grey shawl, and blrck hat, very dirty appearance. Information to Mr. Supt. Absconded, charged with embezzlement:— WALTER JACKSON, a clerk, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair and moustache, hazel eyes ; dressed in black frock coat and vest, dark trousers, hajrd felt hat; a native of Wigan, has friends residing at 81, St. JohnVioad, Brixton. Stolen on 28th ultimo from Newmarket:— 2 Coats, ono lias been found pledged at Bury St. Edmunds. By a man who gave the name of ALFRED TTLDESLY, Cole Street, Manchester, he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers, large nose, and very thick lips, large cut on left side on the back rf the head; dressed in dark coat, and light cord trousers. Absconded from Withycombe on 5th instant, charged on warrant with stealing a grey mixture cloth suit of Clothes, having a tiDge of yellow in the mixture; a cloth striped Waistcoat; a pair of cloth topped goloshed elastic Boots ; a broad Necktie and Pin ; a check cotton Shirt, and some other small articles of apparelHENRY DAVEY, 29 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale compiexion, fair hair, very short, no whiskers, fair light moustache, blind of left eye, which is closed, has been in the Army, and was discharged after the Ashantee War, is much addicted to drink, and has the appearance of a tramp ; dressed in old light coloured cloth suit, the coat a very short one, very old boots, and cap. The clothing will likely be pawned for drink. Information to Mr. Supt. Durham, Somerset Constabulary, Dunster, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 8. Wanted at Bacup, charged with stealing a Purse, con- taining £ 1, from a dwelling- house at which he lodged on the night cf 5th instant :— a man, about 22 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, and Blight dark moustache, one of his thumbs has been injoied ; dressed in dark tweed shooting coat, ribbed cloth vest, and fustian trousers. He has been employed as engine cleaner at Acciington Railway Station, but is now tramping the country. He obtains lodgings at private houses, stating generally that lie is a transfer railway servant, and leaves early next morn- ing under the pretence of going to his work. He is wanted at Staleybridge ( property recovered), and . several other places for similar offences. lie is a native of'Newchurch, and has a wife residing at Stacksteads. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Eccles, between 9' 45a m. and 11 a. m. 6th instant :— a gold Lever Watch, gold d; al, No. 11040, chased cases, had attached an imitation gold Alhert Guard, with gold Locket, blood stone in shape of a shield on one side, and a blue stone with gold masonic emblem on the other side ; a lady's gold Geneva Watch, makers name ' Grey, of Leicester ;' a lady's long gold Albert Chain, with broken piece, had attached gold Seal and Key; a lady's long gold Chain, snake pattern ; a pair of lady's gold Earrings, bird pattern, gold fringe at the bottom, and a stone in each ; a gent's gold signet Ring, with initials 4 W. P. H. ;' a gent's gold mourning Ring with a cavity for hair, & c.; a lady's black Cashmere Dress, trimmed with black satin; a black cloth twilled Jacket, plain pattern, black cloth buttons; a pair of lady's button Boots ; a pair of lady's dark brown kid Gloves; one white, one pink, and one dark red, lady's silk Neckties ; a gent.' s blue and lavender silk Necktie ; a small iron money Box, containing about 10s. in Silver and Copper; a round tin Box ; a card railwr^ y Guide between Manchester and Live! pool. By a domestic servant, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, slender build, pale face, dark hair, her back teeth are decayed, five of her upper front teeth are a little apart, which give her the appearance of having pro- minent teeth ; dressed in a dark blue print dress, and black straw hat, with grey feather and two red roses, and ftiay be wearing the stolen jacket. It is supposed she will try to emigrate to America, as she has resided there before. Description of ISABELLA TUX WORTH, charged on warrant with having, on 1st instant, at New Clee, stolen a silver Geneva Watch ( recovered) :— Sh" is 17 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, oval face, stout build, has scars from cuts on right eyebrow, left cheek, forefinger of right hand and left thumb ; dressed in blue plush hat, with black and white scarf round it, black cloth jacket, dark grey tweed or winsey dress, and elastic- side boots.
