Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the OfTence ohargod, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POUCH GAZETTE, all Iiettern addressed to the Editor mnsl be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Doserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. • Ad'rfisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. Stolen from tho person . of Thomas Eves, who was murdered on 19th instant, in the Subscription Grounds, Gravesend 1 — a very old silver lever open- face Watch, out of repair, No. 1845, supposed brass Albert, with Seal attached, bar of the chain broken off. Stolen by means of burglary on 22nd instant, at Great Bridge, West Bromwich :— an imitation black marble Time- piece, strikes tho half hours, ' Nathan & Co., makers, Union Passage, Birmingham,' on dial; a carving Knife and Fork, ivory handles ; 2 table Knives with ivory handler, ' Henry C. Booth & • Co.' stamped on blades; a Steel, same make; ; s pairs of dark blue Bedford cord cloth Trousers ; a round Jacket, brown and black plaid, pockets on hips and outside left breast; a dark blue silk Handkerchief, with white spots ; a scarlet and blue plaid silk Handkerchief; a violet and white woollen reck Shawl ( woman's); a scarlot and green Table Cloth; £ 5 13s. Gd. in Gold and Silver, £ 3 in Coppers, and 4s. worth of penny postage Stamps; also a quantity of . silver plated goods ( recovered). Information to Superinten- dent Whitehurst, West Bromwich, or to Sergeant George Chatham, Greets Green, West Bromwich, — Bow- street, Stolen by means of housebreaking on 17th instant, at Tormarton :— about 26 lb. of Bacon, ( the gammon half of a flitch), in au unbleached calico bag, dirty aud iron mould marks on it; au old pair of female's Shoes, lace- up in front : an old black Coat, much worn and faded, pockets on hips and inside breast ; a white calico Shirt, buttons sewed on with red cotton ; a blue cotton Pocket- handkerchief, with spots ; and two tame Rabbits, the colour of wild ones. A man and youth of the following description are suspected :— lst, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, very much pock- marked, heavy moustache, ( supposed false) ; dressed in long dark overcoat, hard bowler hat, dark trousers', red stockings, and lace- up boots ; 2nd, about 16 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high ; dressed in dark overcoat, guernsey, brown bowler hat, and cord trousers. They went in the direction of Bath, and appear to know that town well, aud had been singing songs about the double murder in Somersetshire. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen by means of burglary on 14t, h instant, at nales owen- street, Oldbury :— a silver lever Watch, jewelled in four large holes; two silver Geneva ditto; three verge ditto; a silver lever ditto, No. £ 035 ; an olive green Overcoat, man's sizu, two pockets on hips, one outside left breast, black ivory buttons, lined with black Italian cloth fore part, back not lined, ' J. Sanders, Oldbury' on loop, part worn; a boy's light grey summer Overcoat, with pockets on hips, and light bone buttons to match, much worn ; a low black felt Hat; two dozen silver- plated Prongs, two sizes ; two dozen white balance- haudle Knives, to match prongs ; half- dozen large Table- spoons, silver plated; and £ H 12s., viz., £ 3 in Gold, about 12s. in Copper, and the remainder iu Silver. Information to Sergeant Tucker, Somerset Constabulary, Midsomer Norton, Bath,— Bow- street, Nov. 27, The Pony stolen from Abergavenny, on 20th instant, has been recovered, and ISAAC FRY apprehended at Stratford- on- Avon, advertised in Police Gazette of 24th instant.— Bow- street, November 27. Strayed or stolen from a field at Droylesden, on 21t t instant:— a dark chestnut mare Pony, half blood, about 14 bauds high, white star ceutre of forehead, white near hind foot, very sni ill soft swelling back of left foreleg, very long tail, coming 5 years old, good condition, has been out to grass about 3 weeks, and has thrown some of her shoes. Informa- tion to County Police Office, Old Trafford, M « nchester.— Bow- street, November 24. Stolen at Cannock on 15th instant:— a light brown Mare, about 14 hands high, rough coat, white Btar on forehead, saddle marks, large cut mark on near hip, * little above the hack, blind in one eye, aged, and in fair condition. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Hackney, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeaut Cockerel!, Police Office, Cannock, rrtar Stafford.— Bow- street, November 22. Wanted, under a Sheriff's warrant, charged with having • on night of 13th instant, stolen a Horse and a Bridle ( both recovered), from the stable at Tomnagairn Farm, near Dun- keld:— WM. MACFARLANE, cattle dealer in a small way, aud attends Auction Marts Sales, & c., native of Aberfeldy, Perthshire, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, black hair, cut short, small whiskers, shaved on chin, and wears moustache, short neck and stout make; dressed in dark tweed coat, ve* t and trousers, all of same cloth, black felt hat, lacing boots with tackets, and carried an umbrella ; has served recently a few months in the police; is particularly fond of police society, and is almost certain to be again seek- ing employment in the police service. Accused sold the Horse in Crieff early on morning of 14th current. Informa- tion to John Dodd, Chief Constable of Perthshire.— Bow- street, November 22. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Wanted at Dumfries, on a charge of theft, in Lockerbie, on night of 16th instant "( property recovered) :— a man who gave the name of WILLIAM WILSON, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair hair and moustache, whis- kers Bhaved off, fresh complexion, proportionate or rather slender made, round face, blue eyes, has a smart appearance, and of good address ; dressed in dark faded or brownish grey tweed coat and vest, light coloured trousers, believed a blue necktie, with striped- turned- down collar, lace boots, and black felt hat, the clothing looks respectable although somewhat worn, the lining in skirts of coat being much worn, and hanging a little underneath outside cloth at bottom ; he has tho appearance of a broken down shopkeeper or tradesman. Information to John Jones, Chief Constable, County Buildings, Dumfries,— Bow- street, November 27. Wanted for stealing a Watch ( recovered) :— EDWARD JACKSON, 21 yoars of age, 6 feet high, fair complexion, light hair, slight moustache ; dressed in long brown ovnrcoat, brown trousers, and brown hard felt hat. Information to Inspector Hummerstone, Police Station, Watford, Herts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov 27. Stolen from a clothes line at Brede, Sussex, on night of 21st instant, br tween 8 p. m. and 7 a. m. :— two blue striped cotton Shirts, aud two pairs of blue worsted Stockings. Supposed by a mau 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, light complexion, light eyes, brown hair, alight figure, a labourer ; dressed in old green cloth jacket, cord trousers, heavy half boots, ard hard felt hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Baldwin, Guestling, East Sussex Constabulary.— Bow- street, November 27. Absconded from Kendal, on 18tli instant, charged on a warrant with embezzlement :— JOHN HALLIWELL, labourer or coal hawker, native of Kendal, 35 years of age, about 6 feet 7 inches high, swarthy complexion, very dark brown hair and moustache, rather stoutish build, full face aud eyes, whiskers shaved off, face l ather bloated through drink ; dressed in black cloth coat and trousers, brown tweed vest, black felt hat, Rob Roy plaid scarf, blue cotton slnrt, strong lace- up boots, supposed far worn. Information to Thomat Cotton, Chief Constable, Kendal. — Bow - street, November 27. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement, advertised in Police Gazette of 3rd instant :— ROWLAND EWAN, late coal ageut to the Kendal Equitable Industrial Co- operative Society, and who absconded from Kendal, on 28th ultimo :— about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches higb, fresh com- plexion, heavy bushy whiskers, dark brown hair, propor- tionate build, has lost some teeth on right side of upper jaw, which is rather conspicuous, sticks his shoulders up, and hangs his head to one side when walking, rather simple looking, shuttling walker ; dressed in a black cloth shooting coat and vest, dark grey tweed trousers, and soft black billy- cock hat ; ho is a native of Hutton, Westmorland, and has a brother residing there, has relatives at Crook and Gilpin Bridge, Westmoreland: has been in the employ of the Furneas Railway Company, was forman porter at Grange, and station master at Foxfield Junction ; is well known at Ulverston, Barrow- in- Furness, Workington, Whitehaven, and other parts of Cumberland ; supposed to be residing at ^ M an- chester, or"/ fl' the neighbourhood. Stolen at High Wycombe, onTf23rd instant: — a pair of half watertight lace- up Boots, pegged, nearly new. By two navvies, one about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high; dressed in white soft felt hat, dark pilot jacket, clean moleskin trousers, strong watertight boots ; the other about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high ; dressed iu black soft felt hat, heavy dark coat, much worn, cord trousers, wateitight boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Collins, High Wycombe.— Bow- street, November 27, Description of ARTHUR PORTER, a butcher, wanted on wairaut for embezzlement at Witley, Surrey:— 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches higb, fair complexion, light hair, and small moustache; a native of Odiham, Hants. Information to Mr. Supt. Barker, Surrey constabulary, Guildford, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, November 27. Absconded from High Wycombe Borough, on! 17th inst., charged on warrant with stealing Bed Clothing ( recovered) ; also a child's Frock, and a hand Basket:— ELLEN BUCK- NER, alias LOOSELY, 40 years of age, rather short and stout, dark hair, short full face, has a black eye, lame left leg ; dressed in black bonnet, small red ornament in front, black jacket, white wrapper round her neck ; had in her possession the basket, which is of a dark red colour with two handles, and about 15 inches long. Accompanied by a man, named ' Loosely, alias ' Curly,' who passes as her husband, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark whiskers round his face ; dressed in hard felt billy hat, dark jacket, white slop underneath, and is a labourer. Collins, High Wycombe, Bucks.— Bow- st, Nov. 27, Wanted on a warrant charged with embezzlement:— FRANK TURNER, a clerk, late of Bournemouth, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion ( freckled), dark brown hair, dark blue eyes, no whiskers or moustache ; dres> el in dark clothes, dark over- coat, black round felt hat; native of Bridgewater, Somerset; when last seen was wearing a pair of yellow leggings. In- formation to Inspector W. Alexander, Hants Constabulary, Bournemouth.— Bow- street, November 27. Charged on warrant with stealing silver lever Watch, recovered, at Barrow, on 23rd instant :— JOHN WATERS, labourer, native of Barrow- on- Humber, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 6 inches high, broad features, light brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, whiskers about 2 months growth ; dressed in blue serge jacket, black cloth vest, black cord trousers, old lace boots, and cloth cap ; is of very dirty appearance, his clothes beiug very greasy ; he travels the country with his brother- in- law, William Hall, who has steam roundabouts, swing boats, and shooting gallery, and visits fairs. Information to Inspector G. Ward, Barton- on- Humber, Lincolnshire, who holds warrant for his apprehen- sion,— Bow- street, November 27. Charged with stealing a quantity of mill brasses, & c. ( recovered), at Oldbury, on 12th instaiit:— THOMAS DAVIS, alias TUFF, 40 to 45 years of age, about 5 feet. 8 inches higb. fresh complexion, dark brown hair, clean shaved, rather broad set; is a puddler or eDginemau ; dressed in blue pilot jacket, moleskin trousers and vest, black cloth cap, wide top and leather peak, worn on side of head ; slouch- ing gait; supposed native of Tividale, Staffordshire. Was convicted at Stafford some time ago. Information to Mr. P O L I C E GAZETTE. November 27 Supt. Hardman, Oldbury, Worcestershire, who holds the warrant for his arrest.— bow- street, November 27. Charged with stealing at Hunstanton, Norfolk, two plated Table Spoons, four plated Forks, and a small door Key :— a man and woman who give their names SPENCER Man about 45 years of aye, C feet high, dark complexion, hair, eyes, Mid whisker*, speaks with a foreign accent ; dressed in black coat, daik vest and trousers, high hat, of respectable appearance. Woman about 50 years of age. 5 ft high, fair complexion, round face; dressed in grey Ulster, black bonnet with white flower on top side spring boots. and has a respectable appearance ; were last heard of at King's Lynn. Information to Police Sergeant Palmer, Hunstanton, Norfolk, who holds warrant.— Pow- tt., November 27. Description of JOHN HENRY TOBY, late chief clerk in the Goods Department of the G. W. Supposed by a man who lodged in the house ore night, and left about 10.15 a. m. on 21st instant, about 25 years of age, ft feet 6 or ( f inches high, dark hair, believed clean shaved ; dressed in b'ght snutf ooloured coat aud vest, dark cord trousers, black bard hat, and clogs, had a ring ou one of his I. ft fingers Slated lie was a joiier, and was going to work at the Midland Railway Carriage Works, aud that his parents keep a public house at Oldham. Wanted on a warrant, charged with embezzlement :— JAMES WESTON, of 2, Bella Vista Villas, Upper Gordon- road, Chase Side, Enfield, about 40 years of age, ft feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout, fair, sandy hair, moustache, whiskers, and beard, long; dtessed iu brown overcoat, aud high black hat, respectable appearance ; well known at Bow and City. Wanted for stealing from a cottage at Binfield, on 11th instant, £ 9 in Gold .— ALICE HILL, 19 years of age, 5 feet high, stout build, black hair, blue eyes ( full), pale complexion, hair cut short over forehead, lias a slight impediment in her speech ; dre « sed iu black dress, black cape, hat turned up on one side, white flowers, button bootB, large feet; is known to P. C. 355, W Division, Metropolitan Police. Information to Inspector Atkin, berks Constabulary, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 22. Wanted on a warrant, charged witf stealing on 11th instant, at Acle, a silver Geneva patent lever Watch, ' Patent lever' stamped ou inside case, No. 67339, engine- turned back, white metal Alhert Chain, with two brass Keys attached ; the property of Philip Chase, of Acle, engine stoker :— HERBERT FULCHER, native of Wymondham, Norfolk, 17 or 18 years of sge, abont 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh com- plexion, brown hair and eyes, long neck, sets his shoulders up when walkiug, splay footed ; dressed in blue guernsey, brown trousers, with black stripe down legs, heavy boote, almost reaching the knee, aid brown sou- wester hat; he has been traced to Norwich, where he pawned the watch on the evening of the robbery, which was taken out again abont an hour after, by a countryman, of whom no description ban be given; Fulctier may seek employment ou new railways, or other public works, or go to sea information to Mr. Supt. William Basham, Acle, Norfolk. — Bow sreet., November 22. Absconded from Nawworth Castle, Brampton, on 12th instant, charged on a warrant, with stealing a Cheque, value £ 9 18s. ( recovered)— ALFRED PEARCE, a groom, 30 years of age, 5 feet 0 inches high, slender build, dark complexion, dark brown, hair cut short, clean shaved, except, very small whiskers on side of face, smart appearance ; dresud in black ribbed cloth coat aud vest, light grey trousers. herd felt hat,, and lace- up boots. His pareuta reside at Whitewell, near York ; and he wilt most likely seek employment as groom or helper iu livery stables. Information to Mr. Supt. Russell, Brampton, or at the county Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle. — Bow- urtct, November 23. Description of JOHN ROBINSON SIMMONS, coffee- house keeper, of Thorne, wanted on warrant for embezzle- ment:- he left Thorne on 14th inst., and came about 4 yrs. ago, from Manchester, to reside at Thorne, having; been employed in the former town as a printer, he also lived at Rotherham, Glasgow, and other places ; about 45 yoars of age, 6 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout build, round shoulders, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, moustache, and whiskers, very long, a printer, last reside 1 at Thorne, deaf, aud is a great smoker ; generally wears dark clothing. Absconded, charged with obtaining a large number of Pictures, by fraud, in connection" with Messrs. Walter Walker & Go's British Fine Art Gallery, 200, Regent- street: — GEORGE SEEGERS years of age, ft feet 6 inches high, stiff built, square shou^ j^ d, bow legged, light brown hair, thin aud slight moustiache, beard and whiskers shaved off; a native of Germany;' bnf recently suffered from muscular rheumatism ; is believed to have in his possession a large number of pictures, which he may endeavour to dispose Of in large towns.
