As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letter* addressed to the Editor snout be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Wanted at Carlisle, for assault and robbery committed on 13th instant:— JOSEPH TROTTER, lately a game- keeper, 30 to 35 years of fge, 6 feet 10 inches high, light lirown or auburn lmir, red wniskers nil round, no moustache, light grey staring eye?, ordinary build, smart appehrance ; dressed in dark suit, billycock hat, bine necktie with white spots, heavy lace boots, is a native ot Dumfrieshire, and speaks with a broad Scotch accent. The articles stolen have been recovered, with the exception of a dark leather purse contain- ing £ 5 in Gold, and a few shillings in Silver. Information to the Chief Constable, City Police Office, Carlisle, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November I T. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking on 17th instant, at Tormarton :— about 2G lb. of Bacon, ( the gammon half of a flitch), in au uubleached calico bag, dirty and iron mould marks on it; an old pair of female's Shoes, lace- up in front : an old black Coat, much worn and faded, pocketoon hips and inside breast ; a white calico Shirt, buttons sewed on with red cotton ; a blue cotton Pocket- handkerchief, with spots aud two tame Rabbits, the colour of wild ones. A man and youth of the following description are suspected :— lst, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, very much pock- marked, heavy moustache, ( supposed false) ; dressed in long dark overcoat, hard bowler h it, dark trousers, red stockings, and lace- up boots ; 2nd, about. 10 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high ; dressed in dark overcoat, guernsey, brown bowler hat, and conl trousers. They went, in the direction of Bath, and appear to know tliat town well, aud had been singing songs about the double murder in somersetshire. Information to Mr. Supt. Sanders-, Oldbury' on loop, part worn; a boy's light gre*># umttier Overcoat, with pockeu on hips, and light bone buttons to match, much worn ; a low black felt Hat; iiwo dozen silver- plated Prougs, two sizes ; two dozen white balance- handle Knives, to match prongs; half- dozen large Table- spoons, silver plated ; aud £ 8 12s., viz., £ 3 in Gold, about 12s. in Copper, and the remainder in Silver. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Wanted under a warrant at Abergavenny, charged with stealing a small dark brown mare Pony, about 12 hands high, rising 2 years, on 20th inst. :— ISAAC FRY, 47 veara of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, slight figure, fair complexion, blue eyes, hair turning grey, small light whiskers, and tuft of hair under chin ; a native of Worcester; dressed in dark tweed jacket, iord tro.- isers, soft jimcrow hat, red handkerchief round his neck, with ends hanging down in front; is a farm labourer or drover, and has served iu the army or marines ; is talkative, and, fond of drink. Information to Mr. Supt. W. C. Freeman, Monmonthshire Constabulary, Abergavenny.— — Bow- street, November 24. Strayed or stolen from a field at Droylesden, on 2lst instant:— a dark chestnut mare Pony, half blood, about 14 hands high, white star ceutre of forehead, white near hind foot, very sm ill soft swelling back of left foreleg, very long tail, coming 6 years old, good condition, has been out to grass about 3 weeks, and has thrown some of her shoes. Informa- tion to County Police Office, Old Trafford, Mmichester.— Bow- street, November 24. Stolen at Cannock on 15th instant:— a light brown Mare, about 14 hands high, rough coat,, white star on forehead, saddle marks, large cut mark on near hip, a little above the hock, blind in one eye. aged, and in fair condition. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Hackney, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Cockerell, Police Office, Cannock, near Stafford.— Bow- street, November 22. Wanted, under a Sheriff's warrant, charged with having on night of 13th iustant, stolen a Horse and a Bridle ( both recovered), from the stable at Tomnagairn Farm, near Dun- keld :— WM. MACFARLANE, cattle dealer iii a small way, and attends Auction Marts, Sales, & c., native of Aberfeldy, Perthshire, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, black £ air, cut short, small whiskers, shaved on chin, and wears moustache, short neck and stout make; dressed in dark tweed coat, vest and trousers, all of same cloth, black felt hat, lacing boots with tackets, and cafried an umbrella ; has served recently a few months iu the police; is particularly fond of police society, and is almost certain to be again seek- ing employment iu the police service. Accused sold the Horse in Crieff early on morning of 14th current. Informa- tion to John Dodd, Chief Constable of Perthshire.— Bow- street, November 22. Stolen from a field at Wennington, on night of 14th instant :— a dark bay cart Gelding, 3 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, star on forehead, long tail, and slightly mptured. Information to Mr. Supt. Dobson, Brentwood, or to Inspector Simmon?, Police Office, Romford, Essex.— Bow- street, November 20. Charged with stealing three Heifers :— a man, tall, slender build, pale thin face; dressed in long blue jacket or slop, such as butchers wear, and black felt hat. He was seen driving the stolen heifers ( siuce recovered), ou the Huntingdon Road, in the direction of Chester, at 7 a. m., oil 24th ult. Also seen to get into a train for Manchester, at Chester Central Railway Station, on 27th ult. Information to Mr. Supt. Plant, Constabulary Station, Broxton, Cheshire.— Brno- street, November x7. Charged with stealing a Heifer ( recovered), at Ilkeston, oil 4th instant:— WILLLAM alias THOMAS BENNETT, 2 » years of ope, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, medium build, dark complexion, daik eye?, black hair, whisker?, aud moustache ; was dressed in a brown overcoat, with velvet collar, grey coat underneath, brown spotted or figured vest, brown cord trouser?, all in good condition, liaid black felt hat, lace- up boot?, generally weara a red neckerchief, which he passes under his brace?, and ties ou his chest, j he is a labourer, and a native of Long Bennington, Lincolnshire. Information to Mr. Supt. Hancock, Langley Mill, Nottingham.— Bov street, November 17. Stolen from Epping, on morning of 12th inst. :— a red roan Colt, rising three years, not shod or worked. Also a brown nag Mare, rising 5 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, star ou forehead, long arched neck, well made, three white feet, shod under on hind feet, 110 nails on inside of hind shoes both in good condition. Stolen at Cholmondely, between 23rd ultimo and 4th instant :— aj Heifer, light colour, light strawberry neck, und short horns, coining 2 years old. Information to Supt. plant, Constabulary Station, Broxton.— Bow- s'. reet, November 17. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Description of JOHN HENRY TOBY, late chief clei k iu the Goods Department of the G. W. Railway, at Exeter, and lately residing at 18 Victoria- street ii this city, who ab- sconded on 11th ultimo, having stolen £ 102 :— he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, black hair, dark beard, mixed with grey, sallow complexion, dark brown eyes, very upright with soldier- like appearance, square shouldered, fea- tures ret, her sharp, , yrell formed nose ; usual costume— dark blue jacket and waistcoat,, grey trouseis, drab overcoat, hard felt hat ( flat top), either brown or black, wears a signet ring on third finger of left hand. He was last seen at the Crystal Palace on October 19th. £ 10 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the apprehension of the said John Henry Toby. Information to Captain Bent, Chief Constable, Guildhall, Exeter, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, November 24. Wanted for stealing from an outhouse at Fillongley, during the night of 15th iustant, a quantity of carpenter's Tools ( recovered); also on the same night, from a larder, a green Ham, a Tongue, aud 2 wild Rabbits :— a man, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, black whiskers all round face, and black mous- tache ; dressed in dark brown jacket with white slop under- neath, dark cloth trousers, and hard felt flat top hat with a ventilating button on top. Information to Mr. Supt. Frankton, Longford, near Coventry.— Bow- street, November 24. Stolen from a dwelling house at Derby, on the morning of 21st instaut:— a silver Waltham lever Watch, No. 1329357, ' Waltham, Mass.' on works, nearly new. Supposed by a man who lodged in the house ore night, and left about 10.15 a. m. on 2lst instant, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair, believed clean shaved; dressed in light snuti' coloured coat and vest, dark cord trousers, black hard hat, and clog*, had a ring on one of his left fingers. Suited he was a joirer, and was going to work at the Midland Railway Carriage Works, and that his parents keep a public house at Oldham. Information to W. A. Delacombe, Lt- Col., Chief Constable, Derby.— Bow- street, November 24. DAVID WHITMARSH, wanted at Newport, Mon- mouthshire. for embezzlement, and advertised in Police Gazette of 22nd instant, has been apprehended.— Bow- street, November 24. Wanted on a warrant, charged with embezzlement :— JAMES WESTON, of 2, Bella Vista Villas, Upper, Gordon- road, Chase Side, Enfield, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout, fair, sandy hair, moustaclie, whiskers, and beard, long; dressed iu brown overcoat, and high black hat," respectable appearance ; well known at Bow and City. In- formation to Inspector McWilliam, Detective Department, City of London Police, 26, Old Jewry, London.— Bow- street, November 22. Wanted at Chasetown, charged with, stealing £ 1 4s. Cd. in SUve^ from lodgings, ou 19th instant :— a > >" about 21 years of ajje, 5 feet C inches high, black hair, dark com- plexion, no whiskers or moustache, round face, and blind with right eye ; dressed in black cloth jacket, dark silk vest, brown tweed cloth trousers, strong lace- up boots, with tips on the heels, and a blac< t billycock hat; supposed to be a native of Birmingham. Wanted for stealing from a cottage at Binfield, on lltli instant, £ 9 in Gold :— ALICE HILL, 19 years of age, 5 feet high, stout build, black hair, blue eyes ( full), pale cdmplexion, hair cut short over forehead, has a slight impediment in her speech ; dressed iu black dress, black cape, hat turned up ou one side, white flowers, button boots, large feet; is known to P. C. 355, W Division, Metropolitan Police. Information to Inspector Atkin, Berks Constabulary,' who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Boir- street, Novernber 22. Wanted on a warrant, charged with stealing on 11th instant, at Acle, a silver Geneva patent lever Watch, ' Patent lever' stamped oil inside case, No. 67339, engine- turned back, white metal Albert Chain, with two brass - Keys attached ; the property of Philip Chase, of Acle, engine stoker :— HERBERT FULCHER, native of Wymondham, Norfolk, 17 or 18 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh com- plexion, brown hair and eyes, long neck, sets his shoulders up when walking, splay footed ; dressed in blue guernsey, brown trousers, with black stripe down legs, heavy boot?, almost reaching the knee, and brown sou- wester hat; he has been traced to Norwich, where he pawned the watch on the evening of the robbery, which was taken out again about an hour after, by a countryman, of whom no description can be given; Fulcher may seek employment on new railways, or other public works, or go to sea Information to Mr. Snpt. William Basham, Acle, Norfolk.— Bow s. reet, November 22. Absconded from Nawworth Castle, Brampton, on 12tli instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a Cheque, value £ 9 18s. ( recovered)— ALFRED PEARCE, a groom, 30years of age, 5 feet, 6 iuelies high, slender build, dark complexion, dark brown hair cut short, clean shaved, oxcept very small whiskeis on side of face, smart appearance ; dresstd in black ribbed cloth coat and vest, light grey trousers, herd felt bat, and lace- up boots. His parents reside at Whitewell, near York ; and he will most likely seek employment as groom or helper in livery stables. Information to Mr. Supt. Description of JOHN ROBINSON SIMMONS, coffee- house keeper, of Thome, wanted on wairaut for embezzle- ment:- he left Thorne on 14th iust., and came about 4 yrs. ago, from Manchester, to reside at Thorne, having been employed iu the former town as a printer, he also lived ," t Rotherham, Glasgow, and other places ; about 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, siout build, round shoulders, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, moustache, and whiskers, very long, a printer, last resided at Thorne, deaf, and is a great smoker ; generally wears dark clothing. Absconded from Smallthorne in August last, charged ou warrant with larcenv ( by bailee) of au Harmonium :— EMANUEL AMBROSE, miner, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins. high, fresh complexion, dark hair, bushy whiskeis aud nions tache ( which may be shaved off), and medium build j a native of Kidsgrove, Staffordshiie.' Description of WILLIAM SPATE, a collier or labourer, wanted on warrant for stealing £ 21 12s. 6d.:— he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, slight moustache, proportionate build, and born at Hanley; stammers when talking, and leans forward when walking. Information to Chief Constable Windle, Police Office, Hanley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 20. Stolen on 17th instant, from a lodging- house at Marl- borough :— a pair of dark cord Trousers, faded brown with lime, has a small hole burnt in front of right, leg. By a man ( who left an old pair of cord trousers behind), 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, light complexion and hair, little ginger whiskers and moustache, imperial on chin ; dressed in old brown cloth coat, with pockets behind, Boft black billycock hat, strong lace- up boots, and the stolen trousers ; by trade a. bricklayer. Information to Mr. Supt Pierce, Marlborough. — Bow- strest, November 20. Stolen from a house at Stoke- on- Trent, between 8 a. m. 18th and 3 p. m. 19th instant :— a silver English Lever Watch, number supposed 6032, makers name not known ; a gold albert Chain, ornamental link pattern, 9- carat stamped on swivel aud bar, maltese cross and a swivel seal attached ; a gold signet Ring, set green stone ; a silver gilded Ring, carved ; a black worsted Coat, pockets behind, ore out left, and OUM inside right breast, ticket pocket right side, Vest same material; a pair of light tweed Trousers. By a man aud woman who lodged at the house one night, the mau is about 30 years of age, 5 feet C or 7 Inches high, black hair and moustache, no whiskers, thin face, appears to be consumptive ; dressed in dark clother, brown hard felt hat, reel muffler. Stated he was a barber, and had been in business at Mid- dletou iu Lancashire. The woman is about 25 years of sge, about 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, hair cut short behind ; dressed in black drear-, with black satin stripe round centre of skirt, black cloth jacket, black hat with black feather, stated her father had been a butcher at Ashton- under- Lyme, she had a baby with her about, 8 months old. Bowen, Stoke- on- Trent.— Bow- street, November 20.- Description of FREDERICK FOSTER alias JARVEY, late of North Weald Bassett, Essex, labourer, charged on war- rant with stealing a Load of Hay, ou 17th August last :— he is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark hair, aud slight dark moustache, no whiskers, dark complexion, accompanied by a girl, name of Alice Dockerell, about 19 yrs. of age, tall and stout. Information to Superintendent Lennon, Constabulary Office, Epping, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, No vember 17. Description of a man ( several aliases), charged with stealing between 9th and 16th ultimo, a valuable Seal .( recovered) :— 3G years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight build, fair complexion, dark hair and eyes, brown moustache and whiskers ( slight), chin shaved ; dressed in dark coat and vest, grey trousers, black felt hat, of gentlemanly appearance, an organist ; is in the habit of calling on organists and other members of the musical profession, representing himself to be the son or nephew of some well known organist or organ builder, that he is at the present time orgauist of either Liverpool or Montreal, Canada, aud duiing the temporary absence of the person he calls upou,\ abstracts whatever valuable articles may be near, and under the pretence of having lost his purse, obtains an advai. ee of niouey; be further states he has had a letter of introduction from some well known person iu the musical world, but has unfortuuately lost it. Absconded from Boston, on 14th instant, charged on warrant with stealing £ 70 and some Account Books :— FREDERICK JOHN BREWSTER, a lawyer's clerk, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout and broad set, full fair features, uud pleasant looking, mouth rather large and lips thick, brown hair, cut short, aud had a mousuche when he left, but no whiskers ; dressed in dark grey cloth clothes, generally wearing a loose coat, aud hard black felt hat very backward on his head. He has a swinging walk and cariies his head up; is fond of gambling. Information to Head Constable Bellamy, Boston, Lincolnshire.— Baw- streef^ Nov. 1/. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Wanted on a warrant, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences: — ROBERT JONES, alias ROBIN CORN, Penygroes, about 23 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 7 in. high, grey eyes, clean face, little colour on cheeks, fair com- plexion, upper lip slightly thicker than lower one, neck large with scrofula marks each side, downcast looks, leans forward when walking ; dressed in light brown jacket ( pocket3 ou hips), dark cloth trouseis, soft bowler hat ( wearing low down on forehead), laced boots; is a quarry man; buys old horses aud attends fairs. Last seen going iu direction of Portm idoc, ou 7' 40 p. m., 17th instant. Supposed to have <$ one to some of the ([ iiarries of Merionethshire or to South Wales. Information to Chief Constable, Carnarvon.— Baw- st., Nov. 24 Description of THOMAS BICKERTON, wanted on warrant for obtaining a load of Hay by false pretences :— 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 inchss high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, slight moustache, proportionate build. When lust seen hid on a blue worsted cord suit, ami blue bowler end hat. Information to Chief Constable Windle, Police Office, Hanley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 20. Description of JOSEPH DREW, wanted on a warrant, charged with obtaining £ 2 iu Silver Money, by means of false pretences :— from 36 to 38 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches higb, light complexion, very small whiskers on side of face, email e, j es, thin features, sharp chin ; a native of Bridgwater, and lately living at Windsor, generally works as au ostler or stable helper at hotels and public- houses ; dressed in a faded black coat, but had in his possession another dark coat, bound rouud the cuffs, tight- fitting cord or grey trousers, white or cream- coloured muiller round his neck, and old lace- up boots. Hill, Burslem, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 20. t Stolen during the past week, from the Tees Side Iron and Engine Works Company's premises, in Middlesbrough : — a number of brass Bearings, viz., 8 brass Bearings, shape of a crescent or half circle, i inch thick, 7J inches inside dia- meter, 9 inches long, with a flange 1 inch wide at each end, weighing from 9 to 10 lb. each; 2 brass Bearings from a connecting rod, shape of half circle, 1$ inch thicur, 5 inches inside diameter, inches long, with square flange at end, 8i by 5 inches and | inch thick, ' weighing from 15 to 18 lb. each ; 3 keep Brasses, 11 inches long, 6f inches wide, bevelled at sides, rounded inBide. top flat, 14 inches thick, flange at one end, f inch wide, i inch [ thick, weighing from 13 to 14 lb. each ; 3 shaft keep Brasses, 15 inches long, 5 inches wide, 1J inch thick, slightly rounded inside, have a stalk on top iu ccntre, about 2 inches square, 6 inches high, key way on top, about 2 inches by i inch, weighing 18 to 20 lb. each ; 3 shaft keep Brasses, same make as above, but weighing about 13 or 14 lbs. each; 3 side Brasses, 10£ inches long, 6 iuches wide, inch thick, made flat, flange at one end, 5 inches wide, 1 inch deep, t inch thick, weighing about 10 lb. each, some of the flanges may be broken off'. The premises from which the above property was stolen is close to the riverside, and it is suspected that they were takeu during the night of 18th instant, by some persons engaged on the river.
