Notice.— It if requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or itolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. Whenever it is deBired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Home is given, it is indispensably accessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, o£ the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with ( he advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. > H~ rtisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at the railway station, Prestwich, about 10' 30 p. m. 28th instant:— a silver patent lever Watch, No. 448626, makers name on dial ' G. D. Lorimer Besser, Barn, Whitefield,' had an old brass Chain attached. Infor- mation to County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.— Bow- street, November 8. Stolen from several little children at Stockport, between 6' 30 p. m. and 8 p. m. on night of 4th instaut.:— a pair of lady's felt button Boots, size 4, marked on sole ' d/ o H C', fur round top and down front; a pair of lady's felt laced Boots, size 4, marked on sole ' d/ T H/' T' ; a pair of lady's felt elastic Boots, size 4, marked on sole ' d/ T H/ 1' ; a pair of lady's ditto, size 4, marked on sole ' d/ T G/ T', Spanish wing toe- caps, all new; a pair of lady's kid button Boots, size 4, black soles, steel tips on heels, steel pegs round sole, three rows down centre, stitched near back strap ; a pair of lady's ditto, bli. es soles, size 3, steel pegs round soles, has a small patch cemented on forepart of boot, both pairs newly soled and heeled; from one little girl 6s. 2d.; and another a quantity of Groceries. All the above robberies, nodoubt, werecommitted by oneperson, a woman, who sent the children errands, saying she would hold their parcels till they returned :— she is described as between 30 and 40 years of age, medium height and build, dark hair, and dark dress, and wearing a large black and red plaid shawl over her head. Information to the Chief Con- stable, Stockport.— Bow- street, November C. The silver Geneva Watch reported stolen from the person at Eastbourne, Sussex, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 1st instant, has since been recovered, and the woman CATHERINE MITCHELL is in custody on the charge of stealing the same:— she is 42 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 ins. high, fresh eomplexion, has several large soars from abscesses on face, neck and breast, full liazel eyes, dark curly hair, turning grey, medium figure, married, prostitute ; dressed in black velvet hat with thick black fall, plush dress and dark ulster, and elastic side boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Newrham, East Sussex Constabulary, Eastbourne.— Bow- slreet November 6. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 8th instant :— a Bilver Geneva Watch, the back discoloured ; a gold Seal with red stone, bearing the initials ' T. P.'; a plain gold Keeper ; 3 silver Tea- Spoons, and 0 Half- Sovereigns. Information to William Sharpe, Head Constable, Wisbech. — Bow- street, November 10. During the night of 3rd instant, the booking office at Purfleet Railway Station was entered and stolen thereto :— i black diagonal cloth morning Coats, lioflte breasted, bound edges, pocket inside left breast, ticket pocket iu waist seam, 2 pockets inside tails, small silk tab under collar ; a pair of dark grey tweed tronsers, black buttons with name ' Charles Wall, 51, Renchurch Street;' a pair of kid top lace- up Shoes. Information to Mr. Supt. Dobson, Brentwood, or Inspector Allen, Grays, Essex.— Bow- street, November 10. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 6th instant, from a cottage near the Welsh Harp, Buttington :— Two 2- Sbilling Pieces, and Two Shillings in Silver. Supposed by a man, about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark long hair, dark whiskers, sallow complexion ; dressed in a dark cloth or tweed suit, thin boots, and small black hat; has t he appearance of a tramping tailor. Information to Mr. Supt. Ellis, Welshpool, or to P. C. Thomas, Buttington.— Bow- street, November 8. Further information respecting the burglary at Hawk- hurst, Kent, advertised in Police Gazette of 30th ultimo aud following dates :— The 12 Fish Knives and Forks have been recovered, having been traced to a man who is wanted for the burglary, gave the name of H. Furner, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, sallow complexion, slender build, grey hair, lather lorg grey whiskers meetii g under chin; dressed in dark grey tweed coat, dark trousers and hard black billycock hat, of good address, aud had the appearance of an army pensioner. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen from a field at Gardem, near Beverley, Yorkshire : — two 1- year old steer Beasts, one light roan, the other led with white spots. Information to B. E. Wanted at Hexham, charged with stealing a cbe. snut mare Pony, fryrn High Eshells, Hexhamshire, on 29th ultimo, ( Pony recovered) :— a man about 21 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, small light side whiskers, and small light moustache, proportionate figure ; dressed in dark tweed suit, and hard felt hat ; had the appearance of a farmer's son ; may have changed his dress, as he Bold the pony in Newcastle- on- Tyne, for £ 0, on 30th ultimo. Supposed stolen from Petworth on the night of 1st inst.: — a dark bay mare Pony, 4 years old, 14 hauos high, ratbn- long head and straight neck, hair rubbed off both sides behind forelegs. Stolen from a stable at Wardington, Oxon, on 30th ult. : — an old drab livery Top Coat, double breasted, hip pockets outside, brnwn wood or bor. e buttons, two missing off left breast and two off behind. Stolen between 10' 30 p. m. on 29th, aud 10 a. m. on 30tli ultimo, in Durham :— a bay Horse, about 10 years old, fiom 14£ to 15 hands high, rough cont, white star cm face, has a few white hairs on far hind fetlock, in good condition. A., who deserted from Royal Artillery, at Sheerness, on the above date ; 35 years of age, 5 feet 71 inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, stout build, high forehead, scar on right thumb, lost several teeth, also upper portion of left ear ; dressed iu uuiform. Information to Mr. Supt. Mayne, Police Court, Sittingbourne, or to Sergeant Weuhtun, Police Station, Sheerness.— Bow- street., November 10. Stolen at Little Bolton, Higher- end, between 12 noon and I p. m., 7th instant:— a mason's Hammer ( found pledged) ; aud a man's black cloth Shooting Coat., far worn, two pockets outside and one inside left bteast. By a man, about, 4f> years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, aud whiskers; dressed in a moleBkin jacket and black billycock hat; had the appearance of a stonemasou. Charged on a warrant with stealing £ 60:— ALFRED HENRY BATE, 25 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 5 inches high, swarthy complexion, black hair, slightly curly, and moustache and whiskers, dark eyes, stout, his father resides at II or 12, Kensington Square, London. Was lately clerk at the Bon Marcbu, Brixton. Information to Supt. C. Head Oxford, who lioldB the warrant for his arrest .- Bow- street, Noviniber 10. Stolen at Didsbury, about 9 30 a. m. 26th ultimo :— a light brown shooting Coat, with three pockets, lined with brown Italian cloth, and patched under both sleeves. Supposed by a man about 5 feet 8 inches high, light com- plexion, whiskers anil moustache ; dressed iu brown overcoat, dark trousers, black billycock hat, and boots, all far worn. Also at Longsight, between 11 p. m. 2nd, and 5' 30 am. 3rd iustapt yards of new grey, white, and red striped union Shirting. By a man about 27 years of ago, 5 feet 6 or 7 ins. high, black curly hair, short whiskers and moustache; dressed iu black cloth monkey jacket, black cloth vest, and dark tweed trousers, and billycock hat ; he is a collier, and used to reside at No. 8 Court, 11 bouse, Wilson- street, Birnsley, Yorks. Also at Worsley, between 5 30 p. m. aud 645 p. m. 4thinst: — a silver Geneva Watch, W. K.' scratched on inner case, figure 2 on dial defaced. By a man about 65 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, grey hair and whiskers round face ; dressed in black cloth coat, mixture cloth vest, black cloth trousers, lace- up boots, ami black billycock hat. Stolen at Old Hill, during night of 30th ultimo :— a black cloth frock Ooat; and a pair of grey cloth Trousers, ( which were found pledged at Bilstou, on 1st instant). By a man about 44 years of ag", about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark com- plexion, datk hair and whiskers all round face, upper lip shaved ; dressed iu a dark suit, hard billycock hat, coloured shirt, white collar, and of respectable appearance, veiy talkative ; stated he resided iu Market- street, Bilston. Supposed by two men who had been lodging at the house :— one about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, proportionate build, long black whiskers, black and white scaif, white cottou shirt, black felt hat; dresssd in dark clothes, with overcoat ; the other a mason, from 25 to 30 yrs. of age, about 5 feet, 7 inches high, proportionate build, face pockpitted ; dressed in dark coat and vest, moleskin trousers, black cluth <'- p with peak, and may be carrying; a baa* bag with him. 1 nformation to Thomas Cotton, Chief Constable, Kendal, Westmorland.— Bow- street, November 6. Wanted at Feiiton, fcr stealing a quantity of joiner's Tools, on 1st, instant, ( recovered) :— a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, medium bud ', dark hair, beard, whiskers, aud moustache, blue maik under one eye ; dleased in brown corded clot h suit, black boiler- end hat, and of respectable appearance. Information to Mr. Supt. McWillinms, Longton, or to Inspector Macrory, Police Station, Fentor, Staffordshire.— Brno- street, Novtmber 6. Charged with stealing a silver Watch ( recovered), at Cradley Heath, on 26th ult. :— JOSEPH KENDRICK, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slender build, light complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, a chainmaker, aud a uative of Dudley Wood, Worcestershiie ; dressed iu a- black twill clotli jicfeet and vest, pepper and salt- coloured cloth trousers, blue cloth cap, and old elastic side boots. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Wuollastou, Brierly Hill ; or to Inspector Walters, Police Office, Old Hill, Staffordshire, who holds a. Warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, November 6. Wanted, charged on warrant with embezzlement,, at Hereford .-— CHARLES TURNER, 43 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown luir, hazel e- ye°, full sandy whiskers, beard, and moustache, whenjlast seen ; tattoo marks forefinger left hand, spot on back of left band, outline of flag above left elbow, cross aud two other marks , generally dressed in dark clothes, has been employed at weighing machines, &<!., at railway stations. Stolen from a farm- house at Egerton, Turton, between 5 30 and 7 p. m 2nd instant:— a silver level Watch, No. 10046, white dial, steel hands, the larger one having the point broken off, the seconds hand is also lost, a lion engraved, audi ' I. O. F. C.' scratched inside eases, had a silver Guard attached. Suspicion attached to au Irish farm labourer, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, fresh couipfexioQ, brown hair, and small moustache., no whiskers ; dies* ed in old brown cloth jacket, washed moleskin vest aud trousers, billycock hat and clogs ; said he had a brother in fiUckburu, a brick, setter's labourer. Charged wi'h having on the night nf 1st. instant, stolen some Harness ( since recovered) at Saffron Walden :— CHRIS- TOPHER SM ITM. about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 im. high, dark complexion : has H caravan, painted chocolate colour, picked out red and white Sue liues ; JOSIA1I SMITR, believed to be father lo ihe former, appears to be between 6t> aud 70 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, daik complexion ; travel* with a squaie light cart with odd wheels, one red atd the other green, Carries a tent and sticks in the cart, drawn by a dun- colour pony, lame in front; and GEO. WILSON, about 40 vears of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, daik com- plexion, and small dark whiskers ; has a caravan, painted green; also a gipsy woman living with him named Shaw. November 10 Stolen from Sinllwyo, Llanfair, during the night of 18th ultimo:— from 25 to 30 lb. of Horsehair, black, grey, and chesnut, long and short m< xed ; and a brown Horsecloth bound with red binding, had a patch on it torn ne.-. r one corner, and a strap and buckle to fasten around the breast of the horse. And on 22nd, a cooked Babbit, 2 pieces of Bacon, part of a loaf of Bread, and a piece of Cheese. By a tramping labourer, who left on 27th September, stealing Razor and Case, Scissors, a reel of drab Thread. He is 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair, thin on bark of head, small whiskers on side of face, now allowing his beard and mous- tache to grow ; dressed in drab jacket, dirty slop, cord vest and trousers, jim crow hat, and Htrong boots, wore leather straps around the calf of his leg over his trousers. Informa- tion to Mr. Sunt, Ellis, Welshpool; or to P. O. Breeze, Llan- fair, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, Novernbe* 6. Stolen on the Lutterworth Road, Attleborough, Nun- eaton, on afternoon of 31st ultimo : — a leaden Pump, about ti feet high and about 4 or 5 inches in diameter, has had two spouts, but the lower one is broken off; the Pump vsould weigh about 250 lb. Also from the same place, a leather Belt ( used for diiving a threshing machine), about 54 feet long and about 6 its. wide, has a great number of copper rivets iu it, and is sewn up each side with steel or copper wire. Supposed by three men who had the appearance of scrap dealers with a strong spring cart and a grey horse with swoollen knee and in low condition ; two of the men are about 30 years of age, and the third about 20 years of age ; all had cord trousers on and dark coats, and are believed to belonged to Leicester. Stolen from a lodging- house in Shifnal on the morning of 2nd instant:— a woman's brown rloth Jacket, with brown imitation sealskin round bottom and cuffs, brown buttons and loops on front, by a woman who had lodged in the house five or six weeks, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, pale looking ; dressed iu light dress, red and white cotton bonnet and 3troDg laceup boots, is accompanied by her husband, a small mau about 35 years of age, labourer ; dressed in brown velveteen jacket, cord trousers, black billy- cock hat, had with them two children, one a girl about 9 or 10 years of age, the other an infant in arms, supposed to belong to Portobello, Staffordshire, will no doubt visit common odging houses. Information to Mr. Chief Supt. Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Meredith, Shifnal, Salop.— Bow- eet, November ( J. Description of a woman, who absconded from Saltley, on st instant, charged with stealing from her lodging*, a silver ever Watch, open face, No. 1770, with the words ' Improved Patent' « n the dial, No. 17770, also about £ 1 10.'. in money : — about 29 years of age, middle height, pale complexion, light hair, looks very ill ; wearing a black dress trimmed with black satin down the front, brown ulster and J. black straw bonnet, trimmed with black satin. She ha « been convicted both at Liverpool and Worcester of similar offence. Information to Mr. Supt. Walker, Aston, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, November 6. Absconded from Burslem, on 28th ultimo, charged on warrant with larceny by bailee of a gold Hunter, No. ( 52191, centre seconds, jewelled in eight holes, maker ' J. and J. Bar- greaves, Liverpool/ value £ 20 ; a silver levpi Watch, No. 2890 ; and a silver lever watch, No. 060 :— FOSTER CREWE DILLON, watchmaker, 50 years of age, 5 feet 5 or C inches high, dark complexion, black hair, whiskers, beard, and mous- tache turning grey, daik eyes, slender build, hangs his head when walking; dressed in black hard felt hat, dark brown cloth jacket, vest-, and tiousers, and elastic side boots. In- formation to Mr. Chief Supt. Hill, BurFlem, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Low- street, November 6. Absconded from Leominster, whilst on bail, charged with larceny :— CHARLES DUBBERLEY, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, thin build, fresh complexion, thin shaip features, brown hair, slight dark whiskers on side of face, no moustache; he is a labourer, and a native of Leominster, married, has lost the sight of one eye, supposed to be the lefc. Information to Mr. Supt. Dykes, County Police S'taticn, Leominster, or to P. C. Marston, Kihgaland, Herefordshire, who holds the warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- ttrset, November 6. FELONIES. ( Not othertcise described.) Stolen on 2nd instant:— a female Child, about 4 months old, dark brown hair, dark blue eyes, dressed in a pink woollen frock, white pinafore, small puce woollen shawl, dark plum- coloured stuff bonnet, white woollen stockings, and ankle strap slippers. By Mrs. CHARLES WILLIAMS, alias BEfTNIiTT, alias AGNES CONNOR. 38 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches h'gh, sandy hair, long face, fair complexion, pro- portionate make, of good address and superior education ; dressed in a long black cloth jacket, two rows of black buttons down front, and black fur round bottom, dark brown wincey dress, with kilting round bottom, arid trimmed with either black velvet or braid round top of kilting. She had also another blue serge dress ( which she may wear) with litile flounces round bottom, black hat, turned up at orie side, trimmed with black beads, lace- up toots. Had with her a brown square bisket, and a small round tin box Stated she was going to Henley, or Hand ley Street, Manchester, but would not remain there long. Is addicted to ( iiinking gin. During the last three months nh « lias resided in Blackburn with a man, Joseph Bennett, (> is his wife), a hawker of pens and pencils at offices, 46 or 48 years of age, 5 feet 11 iuB. high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, turning grey, light brown moustache, right fingers contracted, walks flat, footed ; dressed in a black hard billycock hat, dark brown mixture cloth suit, lace- up boots, usually carries a stick. Stated that he got his pencils, &&, at Manchester. Had a girl with them about live years old. They left by rail at 12 noon, 2tid instant. Chared ou a warrant with conspiracy:— ARTHUR GEDROfc DUFFIELD, alias HOPPY DUFFIELD, 27 yrs. of age, 5 feen inches high, medium build, v„ ry small dark moustache, little or no whiskers, dark hair, sallow complexion, deformed in left foot, which causes him to walk lame ; dressad in dark clothes and hard hat, native of Norwich. Wanted for obtaining 1 pair of Boots, by false pretences, at Patricroft, on 17th ultimo :— a domestic servant, 18 years of age, about 5 feet high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair ; dressed in brown cloth ulster, and black hat. Information to County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.— Bow- street, November 8. Description of GEO.
