WHEREAS Lord Frederick Charles Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary, to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, were brutally murdered in the Phoenix Park, in the county of Dublin, on the evening of Saturday, the 6th May, 188A : And whereas a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS has been offered by Us to any person or persons who shall within the time specified in , the Proclamation offering the same give such infojfrfiation as shall lead to the conviction of the Murderers : And whereas any person who shall knowingly receive into his or her house or otherwise harbour or maintain any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or shall conceal or aid any of them in escaping or endeavouring to cscape from Justicc, becomes liable to penal servitude for life : Now We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer. DESCRIPTION of Benjamin Hawtrey, native of London, who stands charged With having, on the night of the 10th of August, 1889, in the barony of Tyrkennedy, parish of Enniskillen, and county of Fermanagh, stolen four pounds ten shillings, two silver Geneva watches, a silver chain, and a silver locket from the person of John Galligan, of Paisley, Scotland. The two wa'ches and locket have been recovered :— Smart active appearance, getting bald on top of head, tquare shoulders, brown eyes, sharp nose, sandy complexion, thin face, activo make, 5 foet 10 inches high, about 80 years of age, sandy hair and moustache, face shaved} woro reginiectajs j is a sergeant, 2nd Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Enniskillen, August 26,1882. ( 53260 o.— 3336.) Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, r. M., on Thursday, tho 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craughwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one of the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellcncy, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from tho date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of tho person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellcncy is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection oj the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the- said Murders other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of • liia giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murderaaforesaid. DESCRIPTION of John Nolan, native of 23, St. Andrew- street, Dublin, who has left bis home, and being of unsound mind, may have committed suicide. He was last seen at Newbridge, on the 3rd instant:— Deranged in head, sore foot, which causes him to walk lame, long dark brown beard, bald on top of head, dark complexion, thin worn face, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark blue top coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a baker. DESCRIPTION of articles, the property of Mr. George Knox, which were stolen from his house, at Browns- town, parish of Ballysax, barony of East Offaly, between the hours of 1 and 3 o'clock A. M. on the 16th instant, viz.:— One six- chamber revolver, Constabu- lary ; ono silver mug, marked Frances A. Knox, 1875; a silver mug, marked James A. Knox; one clock, three silver forks, a silk handkerchief, and two fancy pincushions. Kildare, Sept. 19, 1882. ( 54502 o.— 4992.) DESCRIPTION of John Cross, native of Drumshrue, who stands charged with having, on tbe morning of 27th August, 1882, at Drumshrue, in the barony of Connell, parish of Kilmeague, maliciously set fire to a stable, the property of his father, Thomas Cross:— Blue eyes, short thick nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair, shaves chin and upper lip, wears side whiskers, which are brown ; wore a soft hat, dark coat, black trowsers, and plaid vest; is a labourer. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Police at Rathangan. Robertstown, August 29,1889. ( 47902 o — 1789.) Kilkenny. Francis Short ( rape), described in previous issue, has been arrested.. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender who, on the 30th September, 1889, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County :— Peter Clarke, 712, 16 years of age, about 5 feet high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, short nose, regular mouth, oval visage; scar on each cheek; formerly belonged to Belfast; parents reside at 26, Millfield- place, Belfast. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers and tunic, Scotch cap, boots numbered; every article of dress numbered. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the persoa who im with '£ 1. • . ( 24932 m.— 44970.) DESCRIPTION of three men, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the afet August, 1882, stolen the sum of twenty pounds fen shillings, the property of Mrs. Margaret Hennessy, from her dwelling- house, in the barony of Lower Connello, parish of Kilscannell:— 1. Very tall, no hair on face; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, and white flannel drawers. 2. About 6 feet 3 inches in height, black whiskers with rest of face shaved} wore a jerry hat and dark clothes. „ 3. About middle height, no hair on, face ; wore a jerry hat and dark clothes. DESCRIPTION of Mathew Moore, native of Rene- vanna, who stands charged with having, on tho 93rd day of August, 1889, in the baronv of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted his stop- mother, Catherine Moore, from theeffects of which her life isin imminent danger :— Walks with a swinging gait; gray eyes, short cocked nose, pale sallow complexiou, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, light brown hair: wore a dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. D. 580) who has failed to report himself to the Police at Derry:— Blue eyes, dark complexion, oval and thin face, proportionate make, 5 feet inches higb, about 49 years of age; is a bricklayer. DESCRIPTION of John Richie, native of county Longford, who stands charged with having, on the 20th July, 1882, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, assaulted Thomas Farrell, Relig' Officer of Longford Union, by striking bin stick over the left temple, thereby endj life. DESOBIPTION of Michael Shaw and James Harte, natives of Trim, who stand charged with having, on the night of 29th September, 1882, in the barony of Lower Moyfenrath, parish of Trim, broken into the shop of John Brogan of Trim, and stolen therefrom £ 15:— 1. Slight cast in both eyes, large mouth, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow completion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, tweed trowers and vest; wore no shirt collar ; is a blacksmith. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, tweed trows era and vest; is a labourer. DKSOBIPTION of Margaret Smith, native place uuknown, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of September, 1889, in the barony of Monaghan, parish of Monaghan, deserted her two children and left them chargeable on the Monaghan Union. ( See Hue- and- Cry dated 25th July, 1882):— High cheek bones, large front teeth, leans forward when walking, has a halt, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair\ wore a dark gray alpaca skirt, old gray shawl, a piece out of one corner of it, no shoes; is a pauper. Monaghan, Sept. 21, 1882. ( 53342 c.— 3521.) 5 feet 4 inches high, about 36 years of age, dark hair; wore • red Cashmere dress, brown or grayish shawl; barefooted; is a tramping vagrant. Boyle, September 1, 1882. t ( 54131 o.— 4940.) Sligo. DKSOBIPTION of Daniel F. Kearns, native of Kil- kenny city, wh6 stands charged with having, on the 16th September, 1882, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, embezzled a sum ot money, the property of the directors of the Hibernian Bank:— Smart active appearance; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard felt hat, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a cashier. Tubbercurry, Sept. 30, 1882. ( 54229 c.— 5156.) Tipperary. DESCRIPTION of Michael Fanning, native of Knock- graffon, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd September, 1882, in the barony of Middlethird, parish of Knockgraffon, committed rape :— Dark gray ejes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make. 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, looks older, dark hair; wore a jerry hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Cashel. October, 1, 1882. ( 53984 o.— 7022 ) as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same, or any of them. Roscommon, DESCRIPTION of Martin Fox ( mother's name Catherine Crean), native of Lisduff, who stands charged with having, on the 16th August, 1882, in the barony of Frenchpark, parish of Tibohine, absconded from his parents, apd cannot be found t.— " Freckled face, good- looking, fair complexion, stout 3 feet 5 inches high, about 9 years of age, awn hair; wore a cap, whitish jacket, trowsers, hJVas in an industrial school for 3 months, an trowsers ; all his clothing belonged ghool, and were given him on his iution. DESCRIPTION of David M'Mullin, native of Stra, who stands charged • with having, on the 19th August, 1882, in the barony of Upper Strabane, parish of Lower Bodoney, stolen from his master, Michael M'Crory, of Tievenameena, a brown tweed coat and a pair of moleskin trowsers s— 16 years of age, 5 feet high, medium make, yellow complexion, regular smooth face, gray eyes, regular nose, brown hair; wore a shabby white hat, shabby bottle- green coat, old and shabby tweed trowsers and vest; is a native of Stra, near Newtownstewart, and is a servant boy. Wicklow, DESCBIPTION of Mary Barnes, native oi Baltinglass, who stands charged with having, on the 15th September, 1832, in tbe barony of Talbotstown Upper, parish of Baltinglass, absconded, sbe being bound by recognizance in £ 10 to prosecute Patrick Lalor for an assault on Sub- Constable Farrell on the 17th March last:— gray eyes, thick nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 2 inches high, about 65 years of age, gray hair; wore a wbita cap, old grey shawl, and winsey dress. Supposed to be begging about. Has friends in county Kildare, and a son and daughter in Kingstown.
