Wanted on warrant, eharged with housebreaking and stealing a blue silk Handkerchief with either spots or stripes in it, at Yalding, Kent, on 4th instant -— JOHN FAGAN, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion hair ( aut short), and moustache, no whiskers, small pair of scissors tattooed on back of left arm ; dressed in dark brown tweed cutaway coat, white wrapper round neck, black fenian hat, and ( supposed) military boots ; stated he resided at 9, Kute'a- pla^ e, North Woolwich. Hulse, Police Station, West Maliiog, Kent, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 13, Remanded at Leicester until 16th instant, charged with burglary at Belgrave : — lat gives the name of WILLIAM SHEPHERD, labourer, and states he has resided at 27, Whitechapel Road, LomloD, 29 years of age, but looks much older, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, Bhort sandy whiskers and mous- tache, and fresh complexion, several scars on forehead, do. on left side of nose, blue mark on bridge of nose, scar on left cheek, teeth rather irregular, 3 blue dots on back of left hand, small blue mark on 4th finger of left hand, small blue ditto on right wrist, two small Jblue dou on back of right | hatid and very large scar on right shin ; dressed in snuff- coloured reefer jacket and vest, pockets on hips, ticket pocket, and one inside left breast, grey tweed trousers, and brown hard billy hat. The 2nd gives the name of HENRY MARRS, shoehand, 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 inchcs high, black hair, grey eyes, whiskers shaved, slight dark moustache, sallow complexion, and large scar on left side of mouth, and proportionately made; dressed in black cloth single- breasted coat, outside left breast pocket and inside right, light tweed trousers, and elastic side boots, and blue bard billy hat, and says he was in custody at Birmingham about 3 years ago for stealing a Watch. Stolen by means of burglary during the night of 9th instant, at Poynings : — a pepper and salt coloured top Coat, velvet collar, black alpacca lining, black buttons, pockets on the hips, with flaps, and a ticket pocket; a soldier's dark grey top Coat, with a pocket inside; 2 pairs of men's light half Boots, partly worn, with toecaps and brass eyelets. By a tramp from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, light complexion, light hair and moustache, slight figure; dressed in old cord trousers, white slop, black felt hat, had on the stolen pepper and salt coat, and a pair r. f the stolen boots. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Millbouse, Thurlstone, during the night of 8th instant :— 24 £ 5 Bans of England Notes, numbers unknown, each Note supposed to l> e stamped ou left corner with words ' Sheffield Union Bank, Penistone'; £ 5 in Gold ; a small jet Box, containing a gold dress Ring, set with three small diamonds ; a small ivory Box, containing a gold Brooch with two photos inside, a gold wedding Ring, far worn, a set of cent's plain gold Studs, a pair of gold Ear- rings with drop in centre, and a plain white silk Handker- chief. By three men who are supposed to have entered the house by a window which had been left insecure. No description can be given except that one of the men is less than the other two. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 11 p. m. tha 6th and 6 a. m. the 7th instant, from Beach house, Wray- park, Reigate :— a brown holland Bag, containing £\ 12s. 6., bag marked ' B. N. F.'; also a morocco stamp Case, containing one 6 penny stamp and 2 or 3 penny ones ; supposed by tramps. Information to Mr. Superintendent Rogers, Police Station, Redhiil.— Bow- strait, September 11. Stolen by means of housebreaking between 3 p. m. and 6 30 p. m. on 7th instant:— 45 Sovereigns, supposed by a tramp abi^ t 45 years of age, 6 feet 7 to 9 inches high, sallow complexion, thin build ; dressed in grey or light- coloured coat, supposed round stitched hat, and walked with a stick. A burglary was committed on the night of 8th instant, at Reymer, Sussex, and a Bottle of Brandy stolen. Also burglary at Reymer, Sussex, on the night of 8th inst., aud a Bottle of Wine; three Bottles of Beer, Ind & Coope, Co.; aud some Ham ; and a Screw- driver, stolen. Stolen from Cosham, by means of burglary, during the night of lst instant:— 2 Overcoats, one brown ( velvet collar, breast and hip pockets each side), the other old blue; 1 blue ribbed Dress Coat, pockets on hips; 1 snuff- colour Jacket, 1 grey double- breasted Vest, 1 white woollen S.- arf; 3 red Handkerchiefs, marked ' J. Whiting, 6'; 1 black round felt Hat; 1 pair side- spring Boots, toe- capped ; 2 small Prayer Books, one with brass edging and fastening, the other plain ; and a woman's Apron, marked ' M. Smith.' By two deserters from W Battery, lBt Brigade, It. A. : — ( 1), 20 years of age, 5 feet 4i inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, two scars on back, scar left arm, right leg, and on left side of head ; dressed in stolen clothes ; ( 2), 19 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, freckled, blue eyes, brown hair, cut over nose, tattooed ring on 2nd aud 3rd fingers left hand; dressed in stolen clothes. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Brighton, on the evening of 5th instant, between 7 and 10 o'clock, by means of obtain- ing admission through an attic window :— A pearl Brooch, double tier of pearls and large yellow topaz in centre. A pair of pearl Ear- ringj to match, can be worn long or short. Two pearl Bracelets in strings, one in small pearls and the other large, both with diamond clasps. A large cameo Brooch, flesh colour and white, subject- Hebe feeding the bird of Love Two cameo Bracelets, broad gold bands, set with small cameos. A long gold Chain, finely chased. A thick gold Necklace with yellow topaz cross, set in gold, five large stones, lengthways, two acroaa and swivel loop, set with small topaz A pair of gold Eai- rings, very beautiful workmanship, divided into three pieces, for wearing long or short. A pair of Malachite Ear- rings, short. A gold Bracelet with two carbuncles, can be drawn tight or loosened. Three small gold Brooches— one lapis- lazuli, the others pale blue. A Ring, emerald centre, surrounded with la. rg? sized pearls. A Riog with amethyst centre, surrounded with pearls of smaller size. A Ring, lapis- lazuli and pearls. About 10 other Rings, with various stones and settings. Six mourning, black and gold RiDgs, two set with pearls, hair enclosed. Two hair Pins with pearl drops. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen from a field at Astbury, on 13th instant:— a [ dark brown mare Pony, aged, 12 hands high, cut mark on near shoulder, dock tail, black legs. Information to Mr. Supt. J. Hindley, Middlewick Constabulary Station; or Sergeant Potts, Astbury, Congleton, Cheshire Constabulary.— Bow- street, September 15. The six Sheep and one Lamb advertised in Police Gazette of 11th instant, as stolen from Hoc! go Bower, Iron Bridge, are found. Joseph Turner, Sergeant, Iron Bridge.— Bow- street, September 15. Stolen, during the night of 31st ult., from a field at Muswell Hill :— a blown Gelding, 4 years old, 15 hands high, black legs, white star on forehead, carbuncle under right jaw, saddle- marked, and in good condition. reward will be paid by Mr. F. T. Sheen, of Archway Road, Higbgate, for the apprehension of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the horse. Information to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, Sept. 13. Charged on a warrant, with stealing a Horse, Cart, and Harness on 31st ultimo, ( property recovered) :— EDWARD DOWNING, alias FEED, a tramping painter, about 32 years of ' age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, swarthy complexion, stout build ; when last seen in Norwich, was dressed in brown mixed suit, hard chummy hat, and clotli topped boots ; is a native of Hackney, London. Supposed stolen during the night of 7th instant, from a field at Meole Brace, Salop :— a light grey mare Pony ( aged), about 12 hands high, and in good condition. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Description of ALEXANDER McCALLUM, wanted under a warrant for embezzlementhe is about 47 years of age, 5 feet 7i inches high, light thin sandy hsir, long beard, turning grey, moustache and whiskers same colour, stoops a little when walkiEg, and rather awkward gait; he is a gardener, and a native of Gal atone, Ayrshire. He was seen in Stourbridge on 8th instant, when he had about £ b0 in gold in his possession, and in all probability will try to leave England for America. Stolen from a cabin at Patricroft Railway Station, betweei 12 noon 5tb, and 9 a. m. 8th :— a blue clotli Jacket, marked ' Foreman' on collar in white letters, white metal buttons, marked ' L. & N. W. R. Coy,' supposed by a man about 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, sunburnt; dressed iu corded trousers and vest, dark cloth jacket, pot hat, and clogs. Information to County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.— Bow- street, September 15. Mrs. DAWSON, alias EDITH MAXWELL, alias EVA BRUCE, described in Police Gazette, 25th ult., has been apprehended.— Metropolitan Police, September 15. Stolen from a bedroom at the Crown Inn, Shorue, near Gravesend, on the evening of 12th instant:— four or five £ 5 Bank of England Notes, numbers not known ; about £ 25 in Gold ; an old- fashioned pair case verge Watch, Roman figures, maker— Plumber, London; an American 20- dollar gold Piece; and a long brown silk Purse with steel rings and beads. Supposed by two men who have several times within the past month visited the house, and seen near on the even- ing of the robbery :— lst,, about 40 years of age, 5 feet - 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, and whiskers worn round throat, with chin and upper lip shaved, pug nose, thick lips, has the appearance of a pugilist; dressed in grey cloth jacket and trousers, and solt black felt hat. The other, about 30 years of ag *, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark brown hair1 small whiskers and moustache ; dressed in blue serge suit, lace boots with toecapc, light brown felt hat, and has a military appearance. Wanted, charged witli stealing a silver Geneva Watch, No. 25878, at Oswestry, on 7th instant; and a Blanket, with five stripes around ( two red, two yellow, and a blue one in the centre), and barn mark from ironing :— a man, about 25 to 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium size, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, small dark moustache, and very smart appearance ; dressed in fashionable bine coat, flat braided round the edges, button down the front, Scotch plaid trousers, and high silk bat, or low hard hat with flat tap ; a tailor by trade. Had with him his wife and a child ( about 4 months old), and » perambulator; tooked from Gobowen to Liverpool on 7th instant. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen from a carpenter's shop, at Stafford, on 11th inst. the following joiner's Tools:— a 6- inch Square ; a 1- inch • wood Chisel, box handle; a 4- th Chisel; a mould Plane, No. 6; a 2- foot Rule, brass slide. They are all stamped on wood part of the Tools ' J. K. Pattys& n.' Supposed by a man, about 32 or 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, and moustache, blue eyes, medium build, small blue mark on right temple from a cut; dressed in black corded worsted jacket, brown tweed trouseis, and black hard felt hat. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Oswell, The Green, or to Inspector Chaplain, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, September 13. Stolen from the person at 915 p. m. on 5th instant, at Christleton :— 17s. 6d. in Silver Monies, viz. : —- Shillings, Sixpences, and Threepenny Pieces. By a man about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, very dark complexion, large dark whiskers, all round face ; dressed in a black billy- cock hat, dark cloth overcoat, with large grey patch on left arm, between elbow and shoulder, dark trousers, and clogs ; was in company with a very short man; supposed to be found in low lodging- house?, or sleeping in out- buildings; both men had the appearance of tramps, and are likely to be found begging, using menaces when refused. Information to John Plant, Cheshire Constabulary, Broxton.— Bow- st., Sept. 13. Stolen from No. 3, Ranelagh- terraee, Leamington, on 7th instant:— A gold Ring, diamond set in claws; a do. Ring, turquoise and pearls ; a do. Keeper, with the word ' Mizpaha do. Ring, five rubies ; a do. Thimble, with the word ' Kittle'; a do. Brooch, with large onyx stone mid pesri in centre, gentleman's photograph at back; a do. Brooch, with little girl's photograph at back; a do. slide Brooch, with turquoise in centre ; a do. pair of Earrings, round balls set with turquoise; a silver pair do., star shape, with beads rouud the edge. By a man and woman of the following description, who gave the name of FREDERICK TOWN- SEND : Man about 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark moustache, sallow complexion, prominent nose, and peculiar pointed chin; dressed in dark clothes, and low brown hard hat. Woman, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, oval face, fresh complexion, light hair, large blue eyes ; dressed in black clothes, black hat with scarlet flowers. Had a baby with them, about six months old, very plump ; dressed in scarlet dress, cape, and hood, braided with black. They are likely to have take private lodgings; stated he was a tobacconist at Shrewsbury, and had come to Leamington for his health. He looks very ill; apparently consumptive.
