Notice*— It ia requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addresaed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. Whenever it ia desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and aworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. Aa no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the FOLIOS GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and ot Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forma 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards muat etate olearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. 1( 8). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by the persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without khe apprehension of the offender. Absconded on 29th ultimo, charged on a warrant with forgery and embezzling large sums of Money EADON FOSTER, a clerk, late of 71, Charrington- street, St. Pancras, London, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, black hair and moustache, no beard or whisker?, rather sallow complexion, full face, proportionate build ; dressed when last seen in dark clothes, and black deerstalker hat. Supposed to have in his possession about .£ 800 in Gold, and a number of £ 5 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 30808, 30809, 3081?, 30813, 3081C, 30817, dated 9th June, 1882, and 43432 to 43441, dated 10th June, 1882, and six blank Cheques, on Messrs. Glyn, Mills & Company, Bankers, Lombard- street, A Nos. 139069 to 139074. £ 50 reward will be paid to any person who may give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the said Eadon Foster, and a further reward of £ 50 for the recovery of the money, or a sum in proportion to the amount recovered. STONE, baker, 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh eomplexion, light brown hair, slender figure, and has a large birth mark on right side of face, similar to pickled cabbage, of a bright red colour, nearly covering the right cheek and eye. Information to Mr. Supt. Hinde, Shipston- ou- Stour, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, August 11. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person ot a lady, by force, on 14tli inst. : — a lady's gold keyless Geneva Watch, white dial, chased back, No. 5 426 ; a lady's gold Albert, small link pattern, with i large link, shape of an egg, I e'. ween every two or three Inks, made of old gold of a very light colour. £ 2 reward tr. ll be paid by the owner for the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the stolen property, or for such information as shall lead to a like result. Between 7- 30 and 8 p. m., 11th instant, at Claverton, near Chester, 2 white calico Aprons, 1 coarse canvas ditto ; 1 white print Jacket and Skirt, with brown spots, brown horq buttons en jacket; 1 black cloth Jacket, poekets, sleeves braided; and 1 pair of button boots, eight or nine buttons, recently been heeled, were stolen by two persons :— one is 5 feet C or 7 inches high, and dressed in light cloth coat, moleskin trousers, red necktie, and cap with earlaps tied on top; the other 5 feet 4 inches high, dressed in light cloth coat, moleskin trousers, and blaek and white scarf. Information to Mr. Supt. John Plant, Broxton, Cheshire.— Bow- street, August 16. Stolen from the person at Stone Flower Show, ou 9th instant :— a gold English lever stop Watch, ' H. J. H. Har- greaves, Liverpool,' engraved on works, ' J. and J. II.' en- graved on inner case, size 20, the stop does not work, value £ 20. Suspicion is attached to six middle aged men, dressed in light clothes, five of whom booked from Stone to Birming- mingham, and the other from Stone, to Shrewsbury on the evening of ICth instant. Stolen from the person at Trentham, on 10 th instant, a silver lever Watch, silver dial, gold figures, ' James Davies, Engineer, April 8th, 1868,' engraved on inside case. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. McWilliam, Police Office, Longton, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 14. Stolen from the person of James Broad, at Sandbach, about 9 pm. on 10th instant :— a dark leather Purse, con- taining 7 Sovereigns. By a woman ( who travels the country attending fairs, with a basket hawking nuts), middle age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, very stout, and very full features ; dressed in dark hat or bonnet, small coloured shawl on shoulder?, dark, dress, and white apron; she seems near- sighted. Information to Mr. Supt. Hindley, Middlewich. Cheshire.— Bow- street, August 14. Stolen from the person during the Redcar race meeting, on 8th and 9th instant:— A gold Lever Watch, gold dial and hands, No. 10494, imitation gold Albert ( long links) and small ivory Tube ( with gold hoop?) attached. A lady's gold Lever Watch, gold figures, flowered bacR, No. 29937. A silver Lever Watch, white dial, No. 3751, attached a gold Albert ( plain short links) and Seal set with stones ( one pink, the other dark), t A silver Lever Watch, white dial, gold pointers, maker ' Windle, Stocton- on- Tees,' No. 2304, gold Albei t with Locket attached. Part of a gold Albert Chain, about 3 inches long, round links, medium thickness, had attached a medium sized oval gold Locket, flowered on both side. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Abbevley, Worces- tershire, on 12th instant :— a black cloth Coat, nearly new, with pockets outside ; dark grey Trousers and Vest, a Half- sovereign, and 3s. in Silver. Supposed by a man, dressed in white slop and white trousers, who was seen leaving the cottage carrying a bundle tied up iu a red handkerchief. Information to Mr. Supt. Stanton, Police Station, Great Witley, Stourport, Worcestershire— Bow- street, August 16. Stolen ( during the absence of the family) during the last 3 weeks, supposed on 11th or 12th instant; — a lady's sealskin Jacket, about 40 inches long, turn down collar, a pocket inside left breast, lined with quilted brown satiD, fastens down front with hooks aud eyes, nearly new ; a lady's seal- skin Jacket, about 36 inches long, trimmed with racoon fur round neck, down front, rou » . d bottom and on sleeves, lined with brown quilted satin, fastens down front with hooks and eyes, part worn ; a gent's valuable gold Pin, with cats- eye setting in centre, surrounded with 8 small diamonds, is an exchangeable shield and pin ; 4 large red ooral waistcoat Buttons, set in gold ; a set of white pearl Studs, set in gold ; a set of red coral shirt Studs, set in gold in centre. £ b reward will be given on apprehension of the thief or thieves, and re- covery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Stolen by means of burglary, at Stanthorn, nead Middle- wicb, Cheshire :— a small Writing Desk, marked ' Wm. Pim- lott' on top ; about 7 yards of white Calico, 4 yards of grey Calico; a grey and white Table Oover, white flower in centre, and ink marks; 1 drab Stocking, part knit, with Needles and wool; two grev linen Shirts, one with white linen front, both marked ' Wm. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen from Windsor on 5th instant:— a black Mare ( recovered), from an officer of 93rd Highlanders. P. y JA8. BROWN, a soldier servant, 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, and light brown hair ; dressed in a round felt hat and brown suit of tweed ; a native of Aberdeen, his mother resides at West North- street, Aber- deen. Hayes, Windsor, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 18, The Horse and Trap stolen from Peterboro', on 5th inst., and advertised in the Polic- i Gazette of 16th instant, havo been recovered, and the offender arrested. Supposed stolen from a field near Bala, about 5th inst. : — Three yearling Steers, in good condition, two black, one of which has a little white at butt end of tail, the other red with little white at point of tail. W.— Bow- street, Aug. 16' Stolen during the night of 11th instant from a field, at Upper Norwood, Surrey :— 3 Cows, two strawberry," crumpled horns, full milk, one [ fawn and white, straight horns. Infor- mation the Director of Criminal Investigations, Great Scot- land Yard, 8. W.— Metropolitan Police, August 10. Wanted at Newcastle- under- L-^ me, charged with stealing a Horse on 7th instant ( recovered):— JOBN WILLIAMS, alias WILLIAM STAUNTON, 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins. high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, brown whiskers about two months growth, and heavy brown moustache ; a native of Rhos Llanerchrugog, Denbighshire; dressed in black hard felt hat, brown corduroy trousers, and lace- up boots. Was convicted at Longton, on 29th May last, for larceny. Information to Mr. F. Dutton, Head Constable, Newcastle- under- Lyme, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 16. Supposed stolen duiing the night of 23rd ultimo, from a field near Llanfaii:— a light red- coloured Heifer, of the short horn breed, about 16 or 17 months old. Information to Mr. Supt. Ellis, Welshpool, or to P. C. Breeze, Llanfair, Mont- gomeryshire.— B- W- street, August 14. Stolen on 8th instant, at Beckenham, Kent:— a dark cream- coloured gelding Pony, 13 hands high, 9 years old, chipped knees, black mark on back, short tail, hair cut oft under collar. Supposed by a gipsy, 23 years of age, 5 ft. 7 ins. high ; dressed ii black coat, cord trousers, hard felt hat, travels the country, attends races, & c., in a van with his father, a gipsy horse coper. Information to the Director of Ciiminal Investigations, Great Scotland Yard, S. W,—£ ov>- street, Avgust 14. Supposed stolen on 8th instant, from West Dulwich :— 2 Cows, one red and white, long horns, in calf, and one light roan, short horns, in good condition. Information to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Bow- street, August 14. The light chestnut mare Pony, advertised in Police Gazette of 11th instant, as supposed stolen from a field at Blackheath, on the night of the 4th instant, has been found straying and restored to the owner.— Bow- street, Avg. 14. Stolen from a field at Barford, during the night of 8th instant:— a dark grey hack Mare, 3 years old, about 14 hands I inch high, has a wart under belly, and white mark on face, mane inclined to lie on bath sides of neck. £ 2 reward will be paid by H'. M. Sidney, the owner, on recovery of the mare and conviction of the theif. Information to Mr. Supt. Galliere, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Gough, Police Station, Cleobury Mortimer. Salop.— Bow- street, August 11. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT ROBERT EVANS, the man referred to in the Police Gazette of 8th instant, is still wanted at Bolton for embez- zling £ 41, and other moneys, amounting to over £ 350, and a reward of £ 20 will be paid by Messrs. ,1. aud J. Mather, his employers of this borough, for information leading to his arrest aud conviction, such information to be giveu to the undersigned, who holds a warrant for his apprehensiou : John Holgate, Chief Constable, Bolton.— Bow- it., August 18. Stolen from a stable loft at TralFord, between 5' 30 a. m. and 7 30 p m , on 16th instant:— a pail of black and brown mixture cloth Trousers, fly fronts, pockets across ; a white flannel shirt, a ditto Singlet, long sleeves ; a red and white striped flannel Shirt, and a large blue and white buudle Handkerchief. Supposed by two men .-— one is about 25 yrs. of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, rather stout build, fresh com- plexion, and brown hair ; dressed in white jacket, moleskin trousers, old lace- up boots, and soft cap w it. h peak ; the other is about 25 years of age, 6 ft. 8 ins. high ; dressed in a blue jacket aud daik cord trousers. Wanted ou a charge of theft of a pair cf valuable Field Glasses, and about 3s. in Postage Stamps, from Auchincruive House, near Ayr, N. B , on 28th ultimo :— a man, calling him- self JOHN ALEXONSON or STANNING, said he was au organ tuner, about 3r- years of age, hl> jut 5 feet 7 inches high, black hair, long behind, black beard aud moustache, dark complexion, slender build, English accent, good address and very talkative, and appears well acquainted with the musical profession ; dressed iu low crowned dark soft felt hat, dark mixed grey tweed suit, with a piece of blue ribbon in button- hole of coat. He called at Anchincruive House, representing that he belonged to a firm of organ builders, and asked to see the organ there, and - vhile left alone in a room he committed the theft. He pledged the Glasses in Ayr and lodged in an hotel on ? 8th aud 29th ultimo, leaving on 30th without pay- ing his bill. On 30th he lodged at the parish manse, Cum- nock, and was last seen at New Cumnock on evening of 31st ultimo, and is believed to have gone South. August 11 Stolen from an hotel at Wolverhampton, on 12th inst.:— a pair of lady's lace Boots ( rather high legs) imitation Morocco leather, white stitching on fronts, lined with white and a little pitxk lining inside tho top ( French make), stitched bottoms, nearly new; and a gent's silver Lever Watch, No. 2005, ( no maker's name) white dial. By a man who stayed at the hotel five days, and left on 12th instant, he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, appears much sunburnt, dark hair and moustache, stout build; dressed in grey mixture sack jacket, with'a pleat down each side of front, pocket in the pleat outside left breast, dark trousers with raised seam outside each leg, dark vest, low shoes, and red and gold- colour necktie, and black hard felt hat. Had with him a brown paper parcel, and a small black Gladstone bag, is supposed to be a professional hotel thief, he left without paying his bill. Wanted on a warrant at Birmingham, charged with em bezzling £ 50 :— JOHN HILL, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark beard under chin and small whiskers on side of face, stammers when talking ; dressed as a me- chanic, low felt hat, and usually wears a white apron. May endeavour to obtain employment at some bedding manu- factory. Information to J. Farndale, Chief Constable, Bir- mingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 16. Absconded from Cimlerford, on 12th instant, charged with stealing £ 22 in Gold:— MARY SOPHIA PRICE, 16 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, dark hair cut short in front, dark eye?, long features, thick lips, one arm crooked from a fracture; friends living in Poutypoo), S. W. ; dressed in black felt hat turned up on one side, trimmed with a little red ribbon, dark cloth jacket, and dark dress. She took a ticket by the 7 8 a. m. train, 12th instant, from Longhope to Paddington, which has not been collected, and must have broken her journey between Gloucester and London. Infor- mation to Sergeant Hawkins, Police Station, Cinderford, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street August IP. Stolen on 12th instant, at Worthing:— a nearly new black ruasell cord Dress and Jacket, the drees plaited, rousd the bottom a little puffing, and two little flounces round the bottom ; and a coburg ( Jape, with two rows of black fringe round the bottom and one on the top. By a man and woman, who had been lodging in tho house : -- man about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, brown eyes, light hair cut short, no whiskers, medium figure, and tattooed on both arms ; dressed in a tweed suit, and black hard felt hat, with other clothes in bag ; had been harvesting in the neigh- bourhood, and belongs to the Naval Rsserve. The woman is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair, ej es, and complexion, medium figure, and had a sore on her hand ; dressed jn reddish dress with flounces, black hat with two small black feathers in front, and lace- up plain fronted boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Silvester, Worth in o;— Bow street, August 16. Stolen from the bar of the ' Half Moon' public- house, Nuneaton, between C and 10 p. m , 13th instant :— a single- breasted Morning Coat, dark Scotch tweed, J with small' red, blue, and yellow stripes, the latter stripe larger than the first two, four buttons down the front, rounded off at skirts, out- side pocket on left breast, inside pocket on right do., small ticket pocket on right side down at waist, and two pockets behind, nearly new. By a man, about 50 years of ago, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, light sandy hair parted at back of head, small sandy whisker?, round face, no moustache, slender build ; dressed in long dark coat and hard flit top billycock hat. Supposed a hatter by trade, and stated he was making his way to Birmingham. Information to Mr. Supt. Hannah, Constabulary Station, Atherstone, or to Inspector Gleed, Police Station, Nuneaton — Bow- street, August 16. Wanted at Kingsclere, charged on warrant with stealing a Spirit Level and 2 Trowels ( recovered) JOHN SMITH, a tramping carpenter, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair turning grey, stout build, speaks with his teeth closfed, smart military appearance ; dressed in light tweed suit, clean paper collar, hard felt hat, lace- up boots, trousers mended at seat. Abeconded from Sunderland on the afternoon of llth instant, stealing £ Z0 in gold and silver Money :— THO'lIAS HALL, 18 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender build, pale, thia face, brown hair, slovenly walker ; dressed in dark tweed jacket, vest aud trousers same material, black hard felt hat, laced- up boots. Is a native of Inverness, and has relations residing in that neighbourhood. Information to John Nicholson, Chief Constable, Detective Office, Sun- derland.— Bow s reet, August 14. Stolen from a lodging- house at Prestwich, between 4 and 5 a . ro., 7th instant: - a grey mixture small plaid Shawl, with striped border, part worn. By a woman, who lodged in the house two nights, in company with a female child about two months old, and a man, whom she called her husband ; the man left the house on the morning of the Cib, and the woman between 4 and 5 a. m , 7th, taking with her the above- described shawl, and leaving the child at the lodging- house. The woman is about 20 years of age, low set, fair complexion, and light brown hair; dressed in a grey dress, trimmed with brown fur, black bat with black flower and feather. The man who accompanied her appeared to be much older than the woman, is of low stout build, and was dressed in a suit of black clothes ; they both have the appearance of Show people. Information at the County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.— Bow street, August 11. Stolen from three dwelling- houses, fat Derby, sicce 4th instant, during the absence of the inmates :— a lady'n small silver Geneva Watch, chased back, no glass, is discoloured, cot having been worn for some time, and had a piece of green ribbon Attached ; a pair of man's dark grey tweed trousers, not lined, fly fronts, and a single- breasted vest to match, buttons up to throat, three pockets, and dark bone buttons ; a brown silk Umbrelb, straight handle, with smooth knob, silver mounted, a German name ( not known) and Manchester, engraved ; a set of gold sleeve Links, oval shape, chased ; a blue satin Dress ( recovered) ; a wavy peach coloured silk Dress plain body, and rather old fashioned ; a silver- plated chased Goblot, will hold half- a- pint; and. about 30s. in Money By a man and woman who took lodgings at a private house at Derby, on 1st instant, stating that they came from Birmingham. Description of man : 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark uomplexion, light grey eyes, clean shaved, very high forehead and three scars left side of forehead ; dressed in blaok ribbed cloth coat, dark striped trousers, lace- up boots, with blua cloth tops, hard black hat, and black tie with white spots, and pan. Stated he was a fitter, and speaks with the Yoikshire dialect. Description of woman • about 24 years of ago, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, black hair, cut short at back and Grecian fringe, medium build; dressed in a black dolman, trimmed with beads, tight- fitting bonnet, with a wreath of flowers across top, and bottle green ribbon strings, white silk tie, fastened with a silver brooch, and a faded black dress, with two patches on skirt behind. She pledged the blue satin Dress on 7th instant, for 12s., at the shop of John Cooper and Son, pawnbrokers, Morledge, Derby, and may have the ticket in her possession. Information to W. A. Descriptton of DANIEL KEATE3, lockmaker, late of Walsall- street, Wolverhampton, charged on a warrant with feloniously receiving seventy- two Padlocks, at Heath Town, on 15th Nevember last:— he is 33 years of age, 5 feet 6J ins. high, pale complexion, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, grey eyes, slender, blue scar over left eyebrow and on bridge of nose ; a native of Newinvention, Wednesfield, and married; dressed in old dark grey jacket, old dark vest and trousers, old boots, and hard black felt hat.
