Notice.— It i « requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the SljnHlurc of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thoreof, tegether with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all tetters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid) otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should b8 forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and < 93a, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewires must state clearly:—( 1) The Mnount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will bo paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by t'je persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any erpectation of reward for the return oi' the property, without , r u apprehension of the offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Straat, London." PEISON and POLICE AUTHORITIES are requested to be good enough to inform the Editor of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., ana of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Poiice Gazette" no longer necessary, INFORMATIONS. MURDER AID MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Charged on warrant wit!) maliciously shooting at a gtme- keeper at North Ted worth, Wilts, on 27th instant:— a navvy late of Ludgershall, Wilw, who had been working on the S. M. and A. Kail way, 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 11 ins. high fresh complexion, dark hair, and small dark whiskeis, tmart appearance; generally dressed in fustain coat, or drib slop, fustian vest with long back, moleskin or fustian trousers, daik brown cap with peak, and navvy boots. Sometimes dressed in monkey jacket, and soft felt hat. Information to Mr. Siipt. Pierce, Marlborough, Wilts.—/?!, w street, March 31. Found in. an ash- pit at Victoria Park, L > ng « ight, about 1 p. m. on 27th instant:— tho body of a full grown female Child, the child has the appearance of having been sirangled. Information to Ccuuty Police Office, Old Trafford, Man- chester.— Bow- street, March 31, On 16th instant, tlio body of a newly born male child was found in the liver Sow at Stafford, wrapped in part of a copy of the Liverpool i->< u! y Post Newspaper, dated 21th February, 1881. An inquest was held upon the body on 17tb instant., and from tho evidence of the doctor it was shown that the child had received an injury to the back of the head which caused death, and after death put into the water, where it must have been for at least six or eight days. The jurj returned a verdict of wilful murder against some person or persons unknowD. A reward of £ 50 will bo paid by Her Majesty's Government, to any person other than a police officer, who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers; and the Secretary of State for the Home Depart- ment will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually com- mitted the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Committed for trial at the Worcester City Assizes in April next, charged - with forgery ARTHUR LLEWELLYN BISSETT, a printers machineman, 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, black hair, brown eye?,' flabby face, black heavy moustache and beard. He is a native of London, and has worked in Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and other places in the north of England. Information to Inspector Sommers, City Police Office, Worcester. — Bow- street, March 27. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from tho person at Aston- on- Cluu, Salop, on 28th instant:— three £ 5 Notes, two of the Knighton Branch of ths North and South Wales Bank ( Nos. 14344 and 15805), the other not known ; eight Half- so.- ereigns, and £ 1 in Shil- lings and Sixpences. Supposed by a m^ u from 25 to 30 yrs. of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high," little light whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a light brown coat, waistcoat, breeches and leggings ( all same material), a little leather round top of leggings, and hard hat; looks like a horse and cattle dealer. Stolen from the person in Manchester, on 22ud instaut: — a gent's old fashioned diamond Ring, sot with 8 stones around, and largo one in centre, centre or. o rather loose, all claw setting. £ 20 reward will be piid by the owner on recovery and conviction of the tliief or thieves. D; sci ipticin i f ESTHER HAMMOND, charged on war- rant with stealing from a child at Wymondham, on 4th icst, a black Muff, lined with red flannel, and some Coppers :— she is from 35 to 40 years of age, rather tall, fresh eorn- plexi- D, brown hair turning grey, walks upright, and smart, appearance ; dressed in black dress frilled at the bottom, black jacket trimmed with fur, small black bonnet with short fall; a native of Seething, Noifolk. She represents herself as teing the widow of a sea captain, and uretends to have £ 70( V. or £ 800 to take at some bank or solicitor's office, and by these and other false statements she obtains lodging, food, and both public and private houses. Remanded at Kidhurst til! 29th instant, charged with having been found close to Up- Pack House with house- break- ing implements in his possession ( a companion who was assisting him to carry a ladder, escaping):— a ma: i who states his name to be HENRY HARRIS, a carpenter, a native of Leicester, is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8£ or 9 inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, whiskers and moustache inclined to be red, medium build, crooked nose inclined to one side, anchor tattooed on back of right I- and, oYvice with flags, anchor on inside of right forearm, the word ' Boulter' on out- side, mole on right shoulder, small rear on back, wart on left hip ; dressed in brown tweed suit, black overcoat with velvet collar, felt hat, and elastic side boo, a. Since found to be WILLIAM SAYER3. who was released from H. M. Prison, Bor.- tal, Rocnester, on 18th August, 1880. Information to Mr. Supt, Clarke, Midhurst, Susse*.— 3ow- s! mt, March 24, HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING On the 25th instant, a Geiman phrenologist calling him- self JUNO DLEONORMADO, hired a Pony, Trap, and Harness at St. Neots, to drive to Langford near Biggleswade, and subsequently stole them ; about 1 o'clock of the same day he was si en driving along the London road south of Hitchin. The Pony is a brown aged anima1, clipped, one ear slit, both knees slightly injured, has the letter ' P.' branded on its 1- ft side. Brass mounted Harness, nearly new Dog Cart, painted dark green and lined light green, the cart was made by a wheelwright :— he is about 30 or 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, pale complexion, light thin hair, walks erect and well; dressed in a long black coat, grey overcoat with cape, black silk or black billy cock hat. He is iu the habit of wealing false hair and moustache, and occasionally dresses himself very like a woman, he visits various towns where he hires rooms and practises as a phrenologist. Is well known at Bacup and other towns in Lancashire and Yorkshire. In- formation to Mr. Supt. Copping, St. Neots, Hunts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 31. Absconded on 27ih instant, charged on a wnrrant with embezzling £ 20ARTHUR HOKTON CRUNDELL, chemist and druggist, 30 years of age, 5 feet y inches high, fair complexion, hair and moustache ( heavy) dark, slight!?- freckled, of gentlemanly appearance, speaks French ; dressed in dark frock coat, trousers and vest - buttoned high, black silk hat, and generally wears yellow kid gloves. Mp- pratt, Bros, and Huntley, Flint:— supposed by a tramp, to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, dark moustache, and stuoby beard on chin, well built; dressed in a short cut dark coat, dark tweed trousers. and cloth cap with peak. Description of ROBERT HARRISON MOULES, alias BOB COLLISON, alias RED BOB, wanted on warrant, charged with stealing 6 cwt. of Lead ( recovered), at Castle- ford, on 22cd instant :— about 28 years of age, 5 ft. 5 ov 0 ins. high, fresh complexion, light sandy hair, cut shoit, sandy moustache, medium build ; dressed in a brown mixture cloth coat, dark cloth trousers and vest, blue Scotch cap with knob on top, strong lace- up boo* a, very shabby appearance, and a native of Leeds; he hawks oranges and gathers rags and bones ; his wife also hawks Manges, and has a boy about 14 months old ; they generally stay at common lodging houses. Wanted under warrants as servant, & e :— EDWARD ALFRED COUPE, about 31 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair, going bald, dark blue eyes, reddish face, no whiskers, small light brown moustache, cut mark under left eye, wears a keeper ring on left hand, lace- up boots ; slender build, weighs about 91 stone. Supposed to have eloped with a yoimg woman, about 22 years of age, 5 feet high, dark complexion, stout; dressed in black; who has friends in Buckland- road, Landport, Portsmouth. Description of SAMUEL FITSON, alias FITLZEN a painter, wanted at Sheffield, charged with Rape ; he ab- sconded on 23rd iustant :— he is 27 years of age, 5 feat 7 ins. high, fresh complexion, dark eyes, brown liair, medium build; was dressed in a light tweed coat, dark grey trousers, low felt hat. He is a native of Stranraer in the north of Scot- land, but has relatives rending in Sunderland. Charged on a warrant with obtaining a quantity of Old Iron, under false pretences, on 20th December, 1881 :— JOHN LLOYD, from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, with whiskers aud moustache, states he is a native of Kingswinford, Staffordshire, he is now travelling about the country with an old pony and cart, accompanied by another man about 40 years of age, they are in the habit of calling on ironmongers, & c. Information to Mr. Supt. Reynolds, Hitchiu, Herts.— Bow- street, March 31. Wanted on warrant charged with uttering counterfeit Coin at Bnrnbam, on 7th instant :— PH[ LIP HARDING, a sweep ( by trade a shoemaker), about 40 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair, inclined to be bald, no whiskers, and very quick walker; dressed when he abacotded in a long black cloth clerical coat with straight collar, black cloth trousers, and hard black billy bat; is under police supervision, and carries his certificate in a small bag hung round his neck inside his clothing. Information to Mr. Supt. Dunham, Slough, cr to Sergeant White, Buraham, Bucks, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, March 27. Wanted under warrant, charged with obtaining various sums of Money by false pretences :- GEORGE COLEMAN, alias EGERTON, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches higb, pale or sallow complexion, thin, oval face, slight build, delicate appearance, dark hair and moustache, has no front teeth, but sometimes wears a false set, no whiskers or beard ; dress seedy, hard black felt hat, dark brown overcoat, pepper- and- salt underneath. Is accompanied by a female, about 22 years of age, and having the appearance of an actress. Infor- mation to Chief Constable Sheasby, Macclesfield.— Bow- street, March 27. Wanted under warrant at Lynn, charged with obtaining j£ 10 by fraud :— RALPH St. JO LIN, alias EDGAR D'KG- VILLE, a theatrical, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, clian shaved face, slight, build ; dressed in brown tweed suit, brown f& It hat, puce velvet tie with imitation diamond pin, black ribbed tight- fitting overcoat, thin shoes ; walks as though he has '. ender feet. He advertises in leading provincial newspapers for a young man to travel with him; good salary, small security rtquired. He then obtains the deposit and decamps. Information to Head Constable Ware, hynv.- Bow- ftreet, March 24. Description of DANIEL ANDREWS, wanted at Bir- mingham, on a warrant, charged with obtaining large sums of Money by means of false pretences :— about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches higb, dark complexion and beard, whiskers, aud moustache ( turning grey), slightly pockmarked, medium built, has a peculiar gait by jerking his right leg, walks quickly ; dressed u ually in a dark tweed suit and hard billycock bat; is a shoemaker, and keeps a boot shop at No. 4, Easy Row, Birmingham, until February last. £ 25 re waul will be paid by F. M. Burton, Esq., Solicitor, Union Passage, Birmingham, to anyone giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the said Daniel Andrews. W; nted at Lrngton for uttering and putting off a counter- feit half Sovereign, on 15th instant:— a man, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, medium build, whit kers down iide of face, turning grey, frjsh complexion, sjeaks with a MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS, Missing from her service at Madtey, Herefordshire :— CATHERINE GARDNER, 18 years of age, 5 feet high, dark complexion, blue eyes, slender build ; dressed in black straw hat, trimmed with blue ribbon, grey woollen striped shawl, black dress, elastic- side boots, much worn, is of weak intellect, and dirty appearance, has lived in a public house. It is feared some ill has befallen her. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Cope, County Police Station, Hereford.— Bow- street, March 31. Remanded at Hitchin until 4th proximo, charged with attempting to pick pockets :— JOHN SWEENEY, who states he is a native e f Liverpool, but is supposed to come from London, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches in height, slight built, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair ( cut short), light sandy whiskers and moustache, dressed very respectably, he ia deficient of two top teeth in front; dressed in light brown coat and vest, daik tweed ribbed trousers, two over- coats, one dark pilot cloth, velvet collar, the other dark tweed coat, lined with small black and plaid lining, and seams out- side of coat, breast pocket on life side, and two side pockets, brown hatd felt hat, ( makers name erased from lining), elaatic side boots with false lacea. He frequents markets and fairs, and carries a black bag containing a large black linen bag, also small stilyard, such as used by persons weighing rags, & c. Information to Mr. Supt. Reynolds, Herts Constabulary, Hitchin.— Bmo- strcet, March 31. His relatives have been informed that a man answering the above description wag about 10 months ago taken to some Asylum by a police officer, and after having been there for a period of about 6 months, ia said to have died, and bis body interred without being identified. The relatives will be very thankful for auy information which can be obtained on the subject, and will be glad to give £ 1 reward for informa- tion that may lead to the restoration.
