MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the 14th instant, the dead body of a male Child, between 3 and 4 mouths old, was found in the Canal at Woking :— the child had vaccination marks upon its arm, the body was tied up in a bag with seven stones, the bag is such material as is used for lining female's dresses, of a slate color, it is supposed the child was strangled before being put into the, canal. On Saturday night the 9th instant, a strange woman was seen near the spot for three hours, with a cnikl in her arms similar to the one found in the canal; she is from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, full face, and pale ; dressed in black dress jacket, and bonuet, and carried a small blaek bag. July 18 Charged with causing the death of George Willis of Poole, on 25th ultimo, by driving over him :— GEORGE PAULL, a fi.- h dealer,"*. Poole, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoope^ dark hair, and whiskers turning grey, dark complexion, dirty appearance, large mouth ; dressed when he left Poole in dealers sleeve waistcoat, cord trousers, soft donkey hat. Charged with forging certain orders for the delivery of Goods, also certain receipts for Goods during 1880 and 1881 : - GEO. B. MILLER, late of Church Street, Uttoxeter, cork cutter, 55 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, dark brown hair, and slight sandy whiskers, has lost nearly all front teeth, slender build, and walks erect; dressed in old long brown jacket, dark cloth trousers, - lark silk top hat, and light Wellington boots. Is a Methodist preacher ( occasionally), and is supposed to be at Birmingham. Information to Sergeant White, Uttoxeter, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- strest, July 13. Notes of Messrs. Beechings' Bank, Tunbridge Wells, and about ,£ 10 in Gold and Silver Monies ; 4 Keys on a steel ring, and a small cardboard Box, containing 4 gold Seal*— lst, a bloodstone, oval, with a bird ani ' Vincet Veritas'; 2nd, a yellow topaz, irregular oval, bird and ' A. C.' in old English ; 3rd, a red Cornelian, oval, ' AC;' and a bird on it; 4th, a round white cornelian, with coat- of- arms ergraved handle in shape . of a gold harp with small turquoise round the Seal. Bobbery supposed committed by FREDERICK GEORGE BURTON, w| Jo was sentenced to 10 yeais penal servitue for burglary, in 1> CC, and received a remission of the remainder of his sentenced Sept. 1880 ; lie Is 23 years of age, 5 ft. 4) iuches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, round face, out over right eye, moles on right breast and left side, vaccination marks left arm, scar back of left thigh ; is known to Detective Officer Reed, P. Stolen from the person on the up- platform of the Great Eastern Railway at Romford, on the night of 14th instant:— a gold Geneva lever Watch, gold dial, flat glass, compensation balance, No. 8657. Description of a man who gives the name of THOMAS KELLY, ; and remanded till 19th instant, oa a charge of pocket- picking at Evesham Regatta :— 62 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, grey hair and eyes, pale complexion ; dressed in black frock coat, light vest, and black trousers. Stated that he is a native of Manchester, but left that city many years ago, and has been in the army. Information to Mr. Supt. Wanted, at Stocktou- on Tees, on a charge of breaking into the Offices of Messrs. Watson, Sons, Brigham, aud Co., Drapers, between 9th and 11th instant, alid stealing therein about .£ 72 in £ 5 notes, gold, and silver : — ARTHUR INGLEDEW, diaper's apprentice, a native of Middlesbrough, 19 years of age, about 5 teet 7 iuches high, well built, sallow complexion, large mouth, two front teeth in upper jaw have beeu decayed and are stuffed, dark brown hair, slight mous- tache, little or no whiskers ; dressed when last seen here in black worsted coat, black trousers, round black billycock hat, and low shoes with drab sides; has a slight impediment in speech. Supposed by, a man. about 40 years of age, about 5' feet 7 inches high, rather, fresh complexion ; dressed in a grey mixture jacket, patch oil right shoulder, aud a large soft black billycock hat; had the appearance of a tramping labourer. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 13th ins'ant, at Shamtield, near Longnor :—£ 11 in Gold, and about 9s. in Silver. Supposed to have been taken by a tramp, hawking combs, note- paper, aud leather laces, about 5 feet 6 or 7 ins. high, jfrorn 30 to 35 years of age, fresh complexion, dark whiskers, and slight moustache, stout build : dressed in a dark grey round jacket, brown trousers, cloth Scotch cap with a shining leather peak, and two bright brass buttons, one on each side of cap. W.— Bow- street, July 18, % Stolen at Shawbury, Salop, during the night of 11th inst. a red and white Bull, 1 i year old short horn breed, and a strawberry colour Heifer, same age and breed, horns inclined to turn up. "• jf Further particulars respecting the Man supposed to have stolen the Mare, from Ruthall on the night of 30th ultimo, advertised in Police Gazette of 4th instant :— He was seen at Bidford, near Alcester, Warwickshire, on 9th'instant, with the Mare in his possession. He was then wearing a long light coat, or it may be a reversible mackintosh, broad brimmed hat; has an old cut mark uuder one eye ( supposed left), which he got when working with Williamson's Hobby Horses at Worcester, is known on the road by the name of Long, and is now travelling with razor or ' grinding, machine for a blind, and is supposed to be making for Oxford. Information to Mr. Supt. Galliers, Couuty Police Office, Bridgeuorth, Salop. — Bow street, July 15. Stolen from the horse fair at Chester, on 5th instant:— a half- bred bay Mare, 4 years old, 15- 2 hands high, black mane and tail, good condition, has a small lump inside near fore- leg. By a man, JOHN COVENTRY MORRIS, about 35 years of age, 6 feet high, slight sandy whiskers, and moustache, fair complexion, thin face, and rather thin statue ; dressed in a suit of light plaid cloths, large pattern, hangs his head down, and walks rather forward, he took out a license in Windsor for a break, No. 79, for which he is proprietor, states be is a native of Portsea. Stolen from a bed- room at the Oxford House public- house, Wallingford, on 15th instant:— A lady's gold Geneva Watch, medium size, No. 16161, gilt dome aud dial, black figures, ' E. FS.' engraved on back. A gold keeper Ring; 9 carat, chased, with plain square. A do. mourning Ritig, set with pearls, diamond in centre. A gold Ringv set with four garnets in a square. By a man who lodged there the previous night about 45 yrs. of ag-*, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion and hair, but turning grey, whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, medium figure ; dressed in soft black hat, clerical shape, dark speckled suit, and lace- up boots. Information to Inspector Dorrell, County Police, Wallingford. — Bow- street, July 18. Charged on a Warrant at Tunbridge Wells, for stealing £ 9 in Gold, from a house where he lodged, on 13th instant:— JOSEPH GRIBBENS or GRIBBS, a baker, 22 years of age, 5 feet 3 incites high, dark hair dark eyes, with a alight cast in them, little moustache, no beard or whiskers, pale face. slight build Is addicted to drink, may try to get to sea. Information to Head Constable Embery, tunbridge Wells, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, July 18. Description of a man who took lodgings at a cottage at Monckton Farleigh, on 14th instant, stating he was a driver on the Great Western Railway at Box, and shortly after- wards absconded, stealing a Purse, black leather with steel clasps, containing £ 1 10i. 2Id. :— about 26 yearsjof age, about 5 feet 6 inches hrgh, rather full face, no whiskers, small dark moustache; dressed black cloth coat, fustian trousers and vest ( rather greasy, and black soft hat. This is supposed to be the same man as advertised in Police Gazette of the 24th and 27th ultimo, as wanted at Stroud, for obtaining a watch, <& c., under faise pretences Information to Inspector Grey, Bradford.— Bow- street, July 18. Stolen on 11th instant,' at Ewyas- Harold :— a child's unbleached calico Nightdress, nearly new, band round waist. By a tramp, about 30 year* of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, light brown whiskers, and much snnburnt; dressed in hard black hat, brown coat and vest, cord trousers, and strong boots ; carried a large white bundle and a tea kettle, and had the appearance of a smith or striker. He is accompanied by a woman, 30 years of age, very much sun- burnt, tall and thin; dressed in black hat, brown dress, brown striped shawl, and old elastic- side boots much worn ; carried a child in her arms. Stated they were going towards South Wales Ironworks. Information to Deputy chief Con- stable Cope, Hereford, or to Sergeant Phillips, Abbey Dore, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, July 13. Stolen on 22ad ultimo, at Lamborne, Berks :— a pair of dark cloth Trousers, with a small red stripe through the cloth, fly front, brass buttons, and had a pair of red web Braces attached; also a black serge Waistcoat, with black bone buttons, and verona lining, both nearly new, and a Bmall man's size. By a man who lodged in the house, about 19 yrs. of age, 5 feet £ iuches high, grey eyes, dark hair and com- plexion, and rather stout figure ; dressed in a brown slop, dark cloth trousers, and low hard hat. Information to Mr. Supt. O'Neill, Wantage, Berks.— Bow- street, July 13. Stolen on 3rd instant at Thorney Fen :— the inside case and works of an old fashioned verge Watch, has a clip over the keyhole to keep the dirt out By a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 of 7 inches high, dark whiskers, and hair cut very short; dressed in velveteen coat, old light slop under- neath, dark cloth trousers, with light patches on the knees, old soft chummy hat. and carries a tin bottle with wine, with the name Geo. Harrison cut on it. Information to Inspector Wright, Police Station, Whittlesey, Isle of Ely.— Bow- street, July 13. Wanted on a warrant, charged with embezzlement:— JOHN SEATON NUTT, late of Ash Grove House, Mare Street, Hackney, clerk, 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 ins. high, fair complexion, light brown hair, slight moustache, and very small hands and feet ; dresaed in light grey suit and IOJV felt hat. Has friends residing at Uppingham and Leicester, in the name of Rowland. Information to Inspector McWilliam, Detective Department, City of Loudon Police, 26, Old Jewry, ' E. G.— Bow- street, July 13. Charged on a warrant with stealing £ 117, on 7t. h inst.:— RICHARD GRAINGER, lately residing Rt No. 39, Bird- in- Bush- road, Peckham, 19 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair hair, and pale sickly complexion ; dressed iu dark jacket and trousers, coloured shirt, and round black felt hat. Information to Inspector McWilliam, Detective Department, City of London Police, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street July 13. Wanted on a warrant in Birmingham, charged with stealing £ 22 10s. 8d„ the Monies of hia master :— THOS. JASPER, a grocer's aasistant, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light hair and moustache, and very little whiskers; dressed in black auit, high silk hat, and usually dreasea well. Absconded on 4th inatant. Information to the Superintendent, Police Office, Birmingham. — Bow- street, ' July 13. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described.) Description of ROBERT TURNER, late of South Wingfield, farmer and contractor, wanted on warrant for receiving, & c. :— about 55 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, short ginger- colour whiskers down side of face, turning grey, medium build, stoops a little when walking, slightly in- kneed, and generally carries an ash plant for walking stick. Was formerly station master on the Mid- land Railway at Whatstandwell, and afterwards in the timber trade. Is well known at Stockport and in that locality. Information to Mr. Supt Coope, Alfreton, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, July 13. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Remanded until 20th instant:— ANDREW MURRAY, the person described in Police Gazette of 16th May last, aa wanted for stealing watch from Market Weighton Reformatory, number, of watch since ascertained is 12661. Police Officers in West Riding York and Lancashire, are particularly requested to make enquires for a watch, No. and description as given. Information to Mr. Supt. Robertson, Market Weighton Borough, or Mr. Supt Wood, Pocklington, East Riding Constabulary.— Bow- street, July 18. Remanded at Abbeydore, on a charge of stealing a child's Nightdress at Ewyas Harold ( recovered) :— ANDREW JOHNSON, alias GEORGE LANE, and GEORGE BURTON, a seaman and dock labourer, ot South- ampton, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4j inches high, Bunburnt, face aligbtiy pockpitted, brown hair and whiskers, mermaid on chest, blue mark on right arm. dot and half a bracelet on wrist, ' H' on left arm, star near thumb, ring on middle finger, and 3 small spots, all blue ; dressed in brown striped coat, blue vest, cord trousers, fall front, about half worn, white bone buttons, old lace- up boots, and black hard hat. Refuses his address. States he has been in the navy. And MARGARET MOODY, charwoman, of Southampton, 30 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout build, dark hair, sunburnt; dressed in old black straw hat, brown striped ahawl, brown dreaa, old elastic- side boots, much worn. States that her husband has deserted her, and that she has three children in Southampton Union, and that she left the Union with Johnson in April last. Information to Dep. C. Cope, Hereford, or P. S.
