Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for tfye insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and » f Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, » '. above, for insert; on in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. They should bo signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by the persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without vhe apprehension of the offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." Absconded, charged with forgery :— PERCY ENNING- TON, a clerk, 16 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slim build, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, prominent ( forehead, and thin face; dressed in grey jacket and vest, brown trousers, while shirt, blue tie, lace boots, and black felt hat. Likely to be found in tramps' lodging- houses. Warrant issued. Information to the Director of Criminal Investi- gations, Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, June 24. • . ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person, between Piccadilly, Manchester, and Belle Vue Gardens, between 4 p. m. and fi p. m 19th instant:— a gentleman's gold keyless hunting Watch, maker's uame Waltham, steel hands and seconds finger, had the following inscription inside of case 1 Presented to Mr. James Dyson, by the members of the Mumps Ward Liberal Club, for valuable services rendered as secretary, Oldham, Nov., 1880,' had attached a gold albert Guard. Stolen from the person about 12 p. m., 18th instant :— a silver Lever Watch, No. 211, maker ' George Carry, Farns- worth,' on sunk dial, had attached a silver Albert Guard. Stolen from the person at Cockermouth Hiring Fair, on 6th instant:— a silver lever Watch, No. 59344, makers name ' John Walker, Maryport,' on the dial. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 19th instant, at Acocks Green, near Birmingham :— 4 silver Table Spoons, marked ' A. S.'; 2 silver Dessert ditto, ' B.'; 1 Sauce Ladle, ' L. Between 11 p. m. 19th, and 5 a. m. 20th instant, the Park Bailway Station, Newton Heath, was broken into, but nothing was stolen ; entrance effected by breaking 4 squares of glass, and breaking the window sash in the booking office. Information to Mr. Supt. Bent, County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 5.30 and 9 p. m., on 17th instant:— a silver Tea Pot, ' S. H.' on one side ; a silver Cruet Stand, 4 Bottles and 1 Mustard Pot; a pair of Sugar Tongs; £ 3 in Gold, and about 7s. in Silver. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Webster, Kent Constabulary, Dartford. — Bow- street, June 22. Stolen by means of burglary, during the night of 16th instant, or early the following morning from a farm- house at Utkington, Tarporley, Cheshire, the following ladies' Cloth- ing :— a blue cloth Cloak and Cape, bound wi'h black braid, nearly new ; a blue cloth Cloak, muoh worn ; a blue serge Jacket; a blue and white spotted Polonaise, not finished making ; a light brown Ulster ; a grev mixture Ulster, with one tassel, hood lined with scarlet; a paii of elastic- side Boots, part worn ; also a man's check slop Jacket ; and a man's tweed Coat and Vest, part worn. Information to Mr. Supt. Naylor, Constabulary Office, Oakmere, Noithwicli, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 22. The Church at Cley, was on the night of 5th instant, broken into, and the offertory box broken open and contents stolen. Supposed by a tramp seen on the spot the same night, between 40 and 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed in beaverteen jacket and trousers, red necker- chief and cap with peak, lost part of thumb from right hand, which heifSaid wai lost when engaged in the whale fishing. He said hs was a native of Whissonsett, in Norfolk, but had been away many years, gave the name of CANTON, alias NILAND, talked about fishing, also bricklaying& c., frequents common lodging- houses. Information to Inspector Hobbs, Holt, Norfolk.— Bow street, June 20. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 16th instant, at Groton :— One Half- Sovereign, and 25s. 4d. all in Coppers ; a red silk pocket Handkerchief ; and a red cotton Do. By two men - Jressed as navvies, one about 28 or 30 years of age, about 5 feet & or 9 inches high, light complexion, moustache, no whiskers, and stotit build ; dressed in white blouse jacket, fustian trousers, dark coloured cap with peak, and heavy nailed boots. The other from 28 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers or mous- tache, 2 or 3 front upper teeth out, stout build ; dressed in old dark coat and. vest, white guernsey laid open in front, and no shirt on, blue haudkerchief with white spots round his neck, dark- coloured cap with peak, and heavy nailed boots. Both men very much sunburnt. They were traced the same day to Shelford and Duxford, Cambridgeshire, and Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen, by means of burglary, from Stechford Hall, near Birmingham, during the night of 16th instant:— a Centie Piece, with square silver Stand 9 inches loug, surmounted by a bronze elephant with ivory tuoks, carrying a silver castle ; a silver Tea Pot, chased ; a do. Waiter, 20 inches diameter ; 6 do. Tea Spoons ; a do. Knife, Fork and Sp IOM ; a do. Toast Rack; a do. Indian Medal, ' Davidson'; doz. electro- plated Dessert Spoons; ^- doz. do. Table SpooDS ; |- doz. do. Fish Knives ; 1 doz. do. Dessert Knives; 1 doz. do. Des- sert Fork8 ; 1£ doz. do. large Forks ; 14 doz. do, small Forks; an electro- plated Ice Fork ; a do. Soup LadJe. The whole of the above property bearing the crest — a man's hand holding a wreath. Information to Mr. Supt. Gallaway. Police Station, Aston Park, Birmingham.— Bow- street, June 20. Stolen by means of burglary, during the night of 8th instant, from a wheelwright's shop at Meld, Sussex, the following tools :— a seven and a half inch Square ; a pair of Compasses, and a two foot Rule. These tools were offered for sale at Eastbourne, on 9th instant, by a man, 39 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, brown hair, ginger moustache, whiskers shaved off, rather stout built, a tramping carpenter ; dressed in a black billycock hat, light brown mixture cloth coat, blue plaid trousers, and bad with him a [ rough blue cloth over coat. Information to Mr. Supt. Peerless, Uckfield, or to Mr Supt. Newnham, East- bourne, Sussex.— Bow- street, June 17. Stolen by means of burglary, from Hewell Hall, near Bromsgrove, during the night of 13th instant:— an oriental table Cover, cashmere, amber or yellow, embroidered with may coloured silks ; believed to have Arabic letters on it in silk embroidery, lined with yellow lama. Information to Mr. Superintendent Jeffry, Police Station, Bromsgrove.— Bow- street, June 17. , old, 131 hands high, black points, bang tail, mane parts and falls on both sides of neck, has a small patch of hair rubbed off the top of the rump, with the crupper, is in poor condition. Information to Mr. Supt. Simmons, Police Office, Alcester. — Bow- street, June 24. Stolen on the night of 17th instant, in Swine, Yorkshire: — 2 shearling wether hog Sheep, marked on the back with the letter J at the side of a triangle, aud piece cut under right ear. By some men with a horse and cart and a dog. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt,. Burniston, East Riding Constabulary, Sproatley, near Hull.— Bow- street, June 22. Found on morning of 14th instant, supposed stolen:— a light bay aged Horse, about 15J banc's high, white hind fetlocks, small white star on forehead, and in good condition ; also a dark cream- coloured Mare, 6 years old, 14i hands high, white star on forehead, and blaze down face, white hind fetlocks, black mane and tail, and in good condition. Infor- mation to the Chief Constable, Wolverhampton.— Bow- street, • June 22. Stolen from Sutton- park, Sutton Coldfield, on 15th insc.: — a Cow and five Heifers ( recovered). By two men : one is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh com plexion, sandy whiskers and moustache, shaves his chin, hair brown ; diessed in dark coat, blue mixture troitsers, light lace- up boots nearly worn out, blue necktie, aud low hard billycock bat. Gave the name of THOMAS JOHNSON, and stated he had an uncle living at Bosses Farm, Shenstone, Staffordshire. The other is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, swarthy complexion, light brown hair, pro- portionate build, high cheek bones, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in a suit of dirty brown clothes and black billycock hat, and carried a drover's long stick in his hand. They were seen driving the six beasts in the direction of Wolver- hampton on the morning of loth instant, where they were recovered. Information to Mr. Supt. Gallaway, Police Station, Aston Park, Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow- st., June 20. Stolen from a field at Whatton - in - the - Yale, Notts, between 6 pm., on 16tb, aud 4 a. m ; on 17tb instant:— an iron grey Mare, ( recovered,' sold by a^ jnan, 33 to 25 years agej height 5 feet 8 inches, rather good looking face, bit of moustache, no whiskers. He goes about the country hawking cheese. Has an Inland Revenue License for horse and cart ( in force at the present time) taken out at Doncaster, in the name of Robert West. He sometimes wears a low crowned billy hat, and sometimes a white helmet cap, with peak in front aud behind. He is known at Grantham, sometimes appears to walk lame. Is fond of the society . of prostitutes, aud talks about buying and selling horses. Information to Mr. Supt. Somerset, Bingham, Notts.— Bow- street, June 20. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen from a field at Salton, near Kirkby Moorside, during the night of 22nd instant:— a red Irish Cow, about 3 years old, ) in fair condition, aud been calved a month. Infor- mation to Inspector Milner, Kirkby Moorside, Yorkshiie.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen on 23rd ultimo, from Frensham :— a brown horse Pony, 12J hands high, with an old scar on front knee, and has a few white hairs about him. Information to Mr. W. Taphouse, Ivy Cottage, Frensh m, Fariliam, Surrey.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen on the night of 19th iLstant, from a field at Spernal Ash, near Studley :— a brown horse Pony, 12 years LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Charged on warraut with stealing on 20th instant, at Dartford, Kent, £ 4 6s. JOHN DAY, about 55 jears of age, J feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, weak eyes; dressed in dark trousers, brown check waistcoat, aud dark cap ; is a labourer, and likely to seek employment at market gardeners ; and has his boy with him about 9 years of age ; dressed in dark clothes, very dirty and ragged. Information to Mr. Supt. Webster, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, June 24. Description of a man, a tailor, native of Moulton Sea- end, but has for some years resided at Nottingham, charged with stealing an Overcoat, at Boston, on 20th inst. ( recovered) — he is from 65 to 70 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, thin face, grey hair, bald on top of head, had no whiskers or mou-. tache ; dressed in old greycoat, black Vest, blue cloth trousers, and old hard white hat; shabby appearance, having been tramping. Had 4s. in his possession when he left here on the day of the offence. Information to Head Constable Bellamy, Boston, Lincolnshire.-— Bow- street, June 24. Ahsconded from Cardiff, on 22nd instant, charged with stealing £ 150 in Gold, which was entrusted to him to take to the bank :— a butcher, 18 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, no hair on his face, large eyes, fresh complexion, brown hair ; dressed iu a grey suit of clothes, and hard bowler hat. He is a native of Tauuton, Somerset, where he has a widow mother residing. Information to Head Constable Hemmingway, Cardiff.— Bow- street, June 24. Charged at Stafford with stealing Castings and Machi- nery :— ROBERT ASHE, an Irish- American, machinist, 3d years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, Blight moustache, no whiskers, walks in- kneed, round shouldered, iuclined to stoop, lost second, third and fourth fingers of right hand ; dressed in brown mixture suit, light dust coat, and low felt hat. Stafford, to whom information may be given.— Bow- strcit, June 22, Remanded until 25th instant, at York Castle, charged with larceny :— BENJAMIN CRANFIELD, a native of Little Yeldham, Helstead, Essex, 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, blue eyea, brown hair, fresh complexion, mole on right cheek, wart on back of left hand, and an agricultural servant; dressed in grey mixture coat and vest, blue trousers, felt hat, and lace boots. Supposed by a man, 23 years of a| ef 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, sallow complexion, fair short hair, no whiskers or moustache, and full face ; dressed in round hard felt hat, black ribbed cloth coat, and light trousers, and a French polisher. Information to Mr. Supt. Dobson, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- street, June 22. Description of a domestic servant who has absconded with a £ 5 Bank Note, and about £ 10 in Gold she is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout build, very red blotched face ; dressed in brown stutf dress and bodice, black bonnet, black lace shawl, and low shoes ; Bhe is a native of Hull, Yorkshire, where her friends resides; she has also friends at Derby- street, Hyde- road, Manchester.— Bow- st., June 22. .. Stolen on 18th instant, in West Hoathly :— 60 young Pheasants, recovered ; by a man who took a ticket at Row- faut Railway Station for London Bridge, and through a tele- gram he was stopped at East " Croydon and the Pheasanes taken from him ; he made his escape ; 35 y. rs of age, 5 ft. 7ins. high, dark complexion, blue eyes, light hair, sandy whiskers ; dressed in dark tweed coat, lining much torn, dark cloth vest, brass button second from bottom, moleskin trousers, and billy- cock hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Berry, East Grinstead, Sussex.— Bow- street June 22. Stolen on 18th instant, in East Grinstead :— a black cloth Coat, with pockets at each side, and one inside on left breast, black bone buttons, and a cotton Handkerchief, with red rim in one of the pockets ; a black cloth Waistcoat, with sleeves, and black bone buttons; a brown cloth Overcoat, with pockets each side, and a ticket pocket on right side, and one inside breast pocket; a pair Scotch tweed Trousers ; two white Shirts ; tw'o flannel Vests ; two pairs flannel Drawers ; two pairs of angola Stockings ; four linen Collars, 14J ins., and stind up ; two blue Neckties, one with flower in centre, and one with a silver pin in it; a rea smoHng Cap, with beads round bapd, and a kind of a star in front; a silver Geneva Watch, No. either 1111678 or 111678, with gold Chain, 9 carat, attached, large links; two gold Lockets, one has two stones, and a young lady's Photo in it; also- a gold Seal, 18 carat. By JAMES ASHTON, about 27 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, has a cut mark on tliroat, grey eyes, dark hair, whiskers, and mous- tache, clean shaved on chin, proportionate figure, late of East Grinstead, tramping tailor ; dressed in dark thick tweed suit, high- low Boots, and black low- crowned bowler hat. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Berry, East Grinstead, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, June 22. Absconded on 16th instant, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: — FREDERICK MORITZ MOSER, a barrister's clerk, 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inclies high, pale complexion, light brown hair, and very small moustache; dressed in light suit, and high hat. Information to the Inspector on duty, Police Station, Bridewell- place, City, London, E. C.— Bow- street, June 22. Charged with stealing at Gladestry, on 4th September last:— a silver English lever Watch, No. 1577,[ second hand on dial, ' J. V.' engraved on inside case, main spring supposed broken ; a silk Albert Chain, with Key in shape of a pistol attached ; a steel Albert Chain ; a pair of man's Boots ; three check Shirts; and 2 pairs of woollen Stockings; the boots, 2 shirts and pair of stockings recovered; sold :— WILLIAM BOLTER, 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, cross eyes, near sighted, small grey wbiskers, light brown ( or grey) hair, fresh complexion, very talkative, has been in Hereford- shire Militia, is a notorious poacher, large nose, thumb of one hand crippled, supposed left hand; dressed in a dark pilot jacket, hard hat, and lace- up boots ; has worked in Merthyr Tydvill, Mountain Ash, Dowlais, Hereford, Brecon, and Birmingham. Absconded on 11th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a Cash Box, containing £ 28 in cash, several Bills, and £ 1 iA perforated postage Stamps : - ROBT. CRUIKSHANK, 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, whiskers, and moustache taming grey, rather sharp features, flushed face, and scar on fork of right hand ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to Inspector McWilliam, Detective ' Department, City of London Police, 26 Old Jewry, E. C.— - Bow- st., June 22. Charged on a warrant at Weymouth, with stealing a quantity of Books : — HENRY C. FULFORD, alias FOULFIRD, 36 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, very slight built, pale, sunburnt complexion, high cheek bones, brown curly hair, slight whiskers and moustache, full grey eyes, rather blood shot, a native of Wales, has relations living in Wilts and Devon ; a teacher of languages, states that he is M. A. of Oxon ; dressed in light brown coat, light vest, dark trousers, light grey bowler hat, had a dark ulster, ao, d black frock coat with him; he took ticket on 11th ultimo, for Barnstaple, Devon. Charged with obtaining Money, at Tunbridge Wells, by false pretences :-— ALF. RUSSELL, a dealer in hay, Btraw, and cattle, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, very red complexion, hair and whiskers, freckled face, a native of Halton, near Burwash, Sussex, and well known at Tenterden and Romney Marsh. Information to Head Constable, Tunbridge Wells.— Bow- st., June 20. Stolen at Newton, between 2 p. m. and 11 p. m. 12th inst.: — a brown cloth Overcoat, two pockets outside and one inside left bi" east, buttons covered with brown cloth ; a black cloth Jacket, waterproof linings, two pockets outside and one inside left breast; and a pair of white moleskin Trousers, all part worn. By a man, a carter, a native of Dudley, Staffordshire, where he is well known at Coal Pits, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers or mous- tache ; dressed ii a shabby black cloth suit, and lace- up boots ; his wife is living at present with a Mrs. Tomlinson, in a house in the outskirts of Dudley. Information to County Police Office, Old Trafford, Mancheater.— Bow- street, June 20. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Worcester, on morning of 18th instant:— a piir of man's light watertight Boots, with double tongues, and roughly nailed in the heels ; a pair of ijmall man's elastic- side Boots, newly soled and heeled ; three red striped cotton shirts ; a white cotton Guernsey ; and a frail Basket. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, small brown moustache, and no wh's- kers ; dressed in black coat, eord trousers, and deerstalker hat. Information to Sergeant Sommers, City Police Office, Worcester,— Bow- street, June 20, Description of HENRY DAVISON, late of Pentre Moch, Northop, Flintshire, a collier's labourer, charged by warrant with stealing on 9th instant, a Half Sovereign ; a Half Crown ; a Sixpenny Piece ; a Threepenny Piece; and two Penny Pieces :— 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair, and slender build ; dressed in a blue cotton jacket, white moleskin trousers, Militia boots, and belongs to the Flintshire Militia. Information to the Superintendent, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, June 20.
