No. 6587 MONDAY, MARCH 21, 1881 Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the ptcpTse of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may hear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the Bame, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to th » Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE. GAZETTE, nil Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and « f Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to tlio Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of tl e reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 8). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by t'no persons forwarding - them. They should contain no expressions holding out any eipectation of reward for the return of the propel ty, without the apprehension of the offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." PRISON and POLICE AUTHORITIES are requested to he good enough to inform the Editor of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, See., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Police Gazette" no longer neccssary. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Furthur information respecting the murderous assult on the game keepers, on tha Moor Estate, Clifford, near ITay, Herefordshire :— GEORGE COOK, one of the poachcrs, has been apprehended at Swansea, and ANTHONY WHITNEY, has also been apprehended at Glastonbury, Somersetshire, Whitney is the man advertised iu Police Gazette of 23rd ultimo, as name unknown ; both are reman- ded until 21st instant. THOMAS PARRY who is still at large, is well kuown at Neath aud Swansea, Glamorganshire, in which neighbourhood his photo can be had on application. £ 50 reward will be paid by E. H. Cheese, Esq., Solicitor, Hay, or by G. U. Page, Esq, Clerk to the Magistrates, Hay, for such information as shad lead to the apprehension of Thomas Parry, and ultimate conviction of the three men concerned iu the murderous assault. Information to Mr. Supt. Shead, Weobly, or to Sergeant Ovens, Whituey, who holds the warrant for Thomas Parry, or at any Police Station in the County of Hereford.— Bow- street, March 21. Found, about 9.45 a. m., 9th instant, the dead Body of a prematurely- born female Child, in a cigar box, in a brook on Platt Hall estate, Rusholme. The body is very much decom- posed, aud appears to have been in the brook sometime. Information to Mr. Supt. Bent, County Police Offico, Old Trafford, Manchester. — Bow- street, March 18. Lewis, Manchester, No. 3040, J- plate ; aud a gold albert Guard curb pattern, 18ct., 2oz. 18dwts. £ 10 reward will be paid by the Owner upon recovery of the Watch aud Guaid, and the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves. Stolen on 4tli instant, from the person at Preston :— a gold Brooch, oval shaped, centre with glass containing hair, the back of the Brooch is solid gold, with ' In Memory of Uncle Isaac,' engraved on it. Stolen from the person of a geutleman, at Gorton, at 6.50 p. m., 11th instant:— a gentleman's gold Guard, curb pattern, had a seal attached, with yellow stone, au. i a small gold dog attached. By a man who had been drinking with him at the Angel Inn, Wellington- street, Gorton, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, and no whiskers, has a large lump on one of his shoulders, aud stammers very much when talking ; dressed in black cluth coat, black billy- cock hat, he can be identified. Stolen by means of burglary, at Goldstone Bank, Market Drayton, Salop, on the night of llth instant:— between 30 and 40 hen's Eggs ; 1 Loaf and 2 Half- loaves of very brown Bread ; \ lb. mixed Tea, wrapped in paper with ' Richard Billington, Wholesale and Family Tea and Coffee Salesman, Market Drayton,' upon it; a pair of new calico Drawers, with tape shoulder straps, two linen but ons on baur1 of waist, and one tuck at bottom of legs, made to fit a girl about 11 years of age. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, on llth instai. t, at Tetbury : - a dark ribbed cloth Vest, and a new pair of Boots ( the Boots since recovered). By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high, fair complexion; dressed iu grey cloth jacket and trousers, hard bowler hat, and boots with watei tight tongue, toecaps, and tips on heels. Stolen by means of housebreaking, during the afternoon of 8th instant, at Broughton, Bucks:— 3 pairs o' Boots, one mau's, two'boys'; 2 Vests, one double- breasted, the other single- breasted ; 1 child's Frock, 1 white Neckerchief, 1 drab woollen Scarf, 1 hand Saw, 1 clothes Brush, 1 china Image ( a goat) 2 Table Knives, some Bread and Bacon, and a 5- bushel Sack. By two men of the following description :— one is about 23 years of age, 5 feet inches high, very thin, clean face, aud very tender feet ; dressed iu an old dark frock coat, dark trousers, aud soft billycock hat ; tho other is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, round features, and sandy whiskers; dressed in dark clothes, aud hard felt hat. Sup posed to belong to the neighbourhood of Kilburn, to which place they were traced. Information to Mr. Supt. On night of 10th instant a jeweller's shop, in Worcester was entered and stolen: 26 silver Thimbles; 17 gold wedding Rings ; 24 dress Rings ; 14 Keepers; 12 gentlemen's Rings ; 2 silver Geneva Watches ; 16 mourning Lockets, gilt, ' In memory of' ; 12 scarf Pins, gilt ; 24 Ear- rings, gilt; and an old watch Case, No. 850. Stolen by means of burglary, from Sesirsdale House, Kensington, on night of 28th ultimo :— fifty- one Spoons, ( fifteen table, eleveu dessert, ten tea, four salt, plain pattern, silver), eleven tea, ( King's pattern, plated) ; a Tea- pot; a Mustard - pot; a coffee Stand ; a sugar Sifter ; a large Tankard, after Flamingo, arms engraved on lip of lid, and motto round lid, on which is a small figure of a boy drinking; four cruet Bot'les ; two Waiters; a cream Jug, silver ; fourteen pieces of old Dresden China, viz. :— two open work plates, two pots with lids ; two Vases ( about 9 inches high, dog and partridges jound the foot, ' Curzon' and date written inside lids) ; one sma 1 Belle Louise ; a square Box ( about 6 in. by 3 in., with lid, small flowers all over it) ; two Pots and Lids ( Guelder ro6es, canary birds as handles) ; Cup and Saucer; two oriental chocolate Cups, Covers, and Saucers, ( small figure, recumbent, fisherman holdiug a fish); two small Pots ( about 2 in. high, painted laudi- capes) ; a carved Box ( cigar case), in buck'aorn, about 6 in. long, the Scarsdale Arms carved on lid, one side a boar hunt, the other side a stag hunt; a case of one dozen quart Bottles of Champagne, Bonkrells brand, ' G. Stolen at West Basham, Norfolk, on the night of 7th cr 8th instaut :— ten fat hoggett Sheep, the Down and Leicester breed, some marked on the top of shoulders with dot of black paint, others on the off hind quarter with dot of red do. Any person giving Buch information as will lead to the appre- hension and couvictiou ol the offender or offenders shall receive £ 10 reward, ou application to Mr. Supt. By a man, who lodged at the hous-, on the night of 14th, and absconded during the night, he 13 from 25 to ; i() j<• ara of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, no bend or whiskers; supposed dressed iu black coat auO vest, light cloth trousers, elastic- side boots, plain fronts, and black bowl. r hat. which were stolen from an eating- howse at Trowbridge, Wilts, under similar circumstances. Stolen from a shop at Moss Side, between 4 and 5 p. m., 15th instaut :— a gent's gold Geueva lever keyless hunter Watch, compensation balance, gold minutes and seconds finger hands, crystal glass, engine- turned cases, No. 14049; and a lady's small gold keyless demi- hunter Watch, gold hands, fancy white dial, cases enamelled on front and back, No. 1013. Supposed by a man, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 ins, high ; dressed in dark clothes, scarf, and felt hat. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Bent, Couuty Police Office. Old Trafford, or at the nearest Police Station. — Bow- street, March 21. Stolen between 7 and 9 p. m., on 19th instant, at the Bull Inn, Bulverhythe, Hastings:— a japanned Cash Box, contain- ing about £ 10 in Gold, £ 4 in Silver, aud a £ 5 Bank of Eng- land Note. Supposed by three meu ; one about 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, clean shaved ; dressed iu dark brown suit, black billycock hat, and el- istic- side boots. Another, about 26 years of age, 5 feet, 6 inches high, light hair anil moustache ; dressed iu dark suit aud black round hard felt hat. And the 3rd about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, aud clean shaved ; dressed in dark suit, aud black rouud hard felt hat. Information to Mr. Chief Supt. Charged with stealing from an eating- house at Trow- bridge : a brown cloth Overcoat, a dark mixture ditto, a black cloth Vest, a pair of light mixture Trousers, a hard bowler Hat, and a pair of elastic- side Boots with plain fronts : 2 POLICE GAZETTE. March 21 — a man, about 25 years tf age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair no beard or whiskers ; supposed dressed iu the stolen clothes ; he had a new white apron in his possession. He stated he was a painter or polisher, that he had lately been in hospital, and wanted to get to Birmingham. He absconded during the night of 16th instant, and will probably be found lodging at au eating- house or coffee tavern. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen from a passage at the ' Bell Inn,' Winslow, Bucks, on 17th instant .— an old dark cloth Coat ( since recovered). By a man who was carrying a thin canvas bag, and offering shirt buttons for sale, he is about 45 or 50 years of age, p fleet 6 or 7 itches high, fair complexion, brown hair. » a\ idy whiskers and moustache, medium build ; dressed in dark cloth coat and vest, cord trousers, blue aud white stripe shirt, dark soft hat, strong lace- up boots ; had the appearance of a labourer. Information to Mr. Supt. Hall, Fenny Stratford, or Sergeant Powder?, Police Court, Winslow, Bucks.— Bow- street, March 21. Remanded at the County Police Station, Bourne, until 24th inst, on two charges of Larceny :— ALFRED GREEN, a tramping shoemaker, 33 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high without shoes, sallow complexion, grey prominent eyes, dark hair, whiskers, beard aud moustache ; dressed in black hard felt hat, black cloth coat, with long laps, and has a patch on rt. side of back. dk. cloth vest, blue cloth trousers, red and black cheeked scarf, blue and white striped cotton t- hirt, white socks, aud Wellington boots. States that he is a native of Walsham- le- Willows, Suffolk, and that he worked at Maidstone, from 1871 to 1879, that his wife died there 18 mouths ago, and since that time he has been tramping the country ; has worked at Laken Heath, Suffolk, for a man named J. Foster, who kept the Bull Inn, and is a shoemaker, also for a man named Smith, at Methwold, in Norfolk, also at Margate and Ramsgate, in Kent. Information to Mr. Supt. Brown, County Police Station, Bourne.— Bow - street, March 21. Absconded from Rawtenstall, on 14th instant, charged oil warrant with stealing several Boxes of Wearing Apparel , a wood Box, paiutod red, about 2 feet deep, 1 foot 8 inches • wide, and 3 feet 1 ng, containing a quantity of Tins, used in the confectionery busiuess ; a black cloth worsted Overcoat; and £ 6 in Money JUNO AUGUSTO AMANDOUS, supposed native of Austria, about 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, sallow complexion, beard cut short, light brown hair, but occasionally wears a dark brown wavy wig ; dresses in a velvet gown, but sometimes wears a dark grey ulster, low patent leather shoes, white stockings, and small billycock hat. He was accompanied by the wife of the prosecutor :— she is about 30 years of age, fresh complexion, dark hair and eyes, rather low and stout. They left Biggles- wade by the 10' 18 a. m. train on 17th instant, booked to King's Cross. Information to Mr. Supt. Henderson, Police Office, Bacup, Lancashire.— Bow- street, March 18. Stolen in Halifax, between 12.30 a. m. and 1 a. m., on 16th instant, the followiug Watches and Articles of Jewellery ;— a silver Albert with seal in bar ; a dozen Wedding Rings, standard gold ; 20 or 30 B: ooches, silver, various patterns ; three gold Alberts, curb pattern, and one belcher pattern ; three gold Guards, and other Jewellery. By 3 men : — one, a convict on license, No. B 319, 29 years of age, 5 ft. 3 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, corner of lip has been split., scar on groin and back of neck, slightly pocked- marked, scars over left, eye, aud on bridge of nose; dressed in long top pepper- and- salt overcoat, black billy hat, blue and white muffler. This man reported himself at Lon- don on 5th January last, Bradford Borough, Feb. 16th, 1881. Another, a native of Halifax, about 20 yeais of age, 5 ft. 4 or 6 inches high, and dark complexion. And the other, about 22 years of age 5 feet, 6 inches high, fresh complexion, stiff made, full lace, dark brown hair, slight moustache ; dressed in dark cloth jacket, dark cord trousers, and white silk muffler, and recently resided at 62, Adelaide- street, Man- chester- road, Bradford. Information to Chief Constable Poole, Town Hall, Halifax. — Bow- street, March 18. Stolen from a shop at the Post Office, Preston Candover, between the hours of 10 30 a. m., aud 4.30 p. m., on 11th iust.: — a small cauvaa Bag, containing 2 crossed Cheques— one for £ 6 10s., the other for £ 4 paid to order at Hill and Co.' s Bank, Winchester; also two £ 5 Bank of England Notes, and about £ 4 in Gold. Supposed by a man from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair aud moustache, inclined to be little sandy ; dressed in a dark tight- fitting jacket and dark trousers, hard black round crowned hat; carrying a small box about 8 or 9 inches long, and about 5 or 6 iuches wide, which was tied up in a red handkerchief with small white spots iu it, about the size of peas.
