Notice.— It ii requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reforenee to the POLICE GAZETTE may be mado and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it i » desirod that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is'giron, it is indispensably necessary that an information should bo made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested oopy thereof, together with the advertise- nont, forwardod to the Editor for insertion. As no cha4fc is made for the iusertion of any artiole in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letter* addressed to the Editor must lie prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and • f Absentees and Desorters from the Militia, should be forwarded an War Office Forms 88 and 88i, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the I'OLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state cloaily:—( 1) The amount of tl o reward, ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 8). The porson by whom it will be paid. Thoy should be signed or aecomjwnied by a letter, signed by the persons forwarding them. Supposed by 2 uien and a woman, the latter had a ticket for Birmingham from Loudon. the men were travelling without tickets. During the night of 3l « t ultimo, the residence of His Grace the Duke of Somerset, Bulstrode- park, Gerrard's Cross, Bucks, was burglariously broken into and stolen therein :— a black cloth Cloak, 9 ft. long, lined with brown fur, worn and locu at the armhoks, and fastens with thick braid round the buttons ; a black cloth Jacket, collar, cuffs, and skirt trimmed with black or brown fur; a lady's grey waterproof Cloak, i:> a si ™ far larger than would be found at any reidy made shopJ, aud has a cornered square collar iustead of a hood; a bracket Clock, gold face, marble frame, and gilt handle at top ; IT Candlestick, is of a column and goat pattern, aud is electro type ; and a brown Railway Rug, recovered. Further description of EDWARD WILSON, alias FRANIS BARING, and EDWARD LLOYD, charged with the burglary at Baverstock Rectory, near Salisbury, ad- vertised in Police Gazette, of 19th July last.— is now weariug long whukeis and moustache, and ill company with n man named THOMAS CLIFFORD, see No. « . 2 and 26 in the group of photos, on illustrated description of convicts and others at large, sent from the Criminal Investigation Depart- ment ; they are both dressed as dealers, wearing loBg soft brown leather leggings, and overcoats. Raincock'; a pair of Boots, elastic- side ; a pair of child's button Boots ; a carving Knife and Fork ; a poultry Carver ; eight large white- handled Knives; six or seven small ditto ; five plain electro silver teaSpooDB ; an old silver tea Spoon, ' G. H. Some of the articles are marked with a crest of two wolves, some with one wolf, with its tail down, and others with an eagle in a shield. Two men suspected of committing the burglaiy were traced to Malvern Railway Station ou the morning of the robbery, aud from thence to Worcester aud Birmingham ( they were carrying a carpet bag each) ; one is from 30 to 40 years o( age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark hair aud whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes; the other is from 30 to 33 years of age, light hair, sandy whiskers, about 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed iu dark clothes and ha. d flat top hat. £ 100 reward will be paid by Mr. Biddulph on the recovery of the property, or in proportion to its value, aud the conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen by meaus of housebreaking, at Kyre, tear Tenbury on 2ud instant : - a pair cased silver Watch, No. 380, a small piece broken off dial at figures 6 and 12 ; a silk Handkerchief, twill; aud a cotton do., twill. Supposed by a mau, from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 iuches high, dark com piexion, dark whiskers round face ; dressed in dirty slop, dark trousers, billycock hat, aud heavy boots; had the appearance of a labourer, aud was going in the direction of Bromyard, Herefordshire. Information to Mr. Supt. Hardman, Great Witley, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, Novetnber 8. During the night of 2nd instant, were burglariously stolen : From Farringdon House, Exeter :— 4 silver Stands, for the glasses holding the salt ; a silver biscuit Bowl; a silver mustard Spoon ; 2 silver pudding Spoons, with cut edges ; 12 b lver Knives, 12 silver Forks, wreuched out of handles; 3 silver napkin Rings, one engraved ' H. Information to the Chief Constable of Devon, Exeter.— Bow- street November 5. cart, in good condition, recently clipped, chip kneed, between 13 and 14 hands high, aud aged. Supposed stolen. The grey Pony, Cart aud Harness, described in Police Gazette, of 5th instant, as stolen from Great Yarmouth, by TENTON LADBROOKE, alias COOPER, have been re- covered by the Suffolk Constabulary. Ladbrooke has not yet been arrested. Information to Chief Constable Ogden. Great Yarmouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow~ street, Novetnber 10. HOUSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found at Stoke- by- Nayland, on 4th instant:— an iron grey cob Mare, in harness when found, but no trace of any LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Further information respecting FLETCHER EUSTON EDMUNDS, advertised iu Police Gazette, October 22nd. .£ 100 reward will be paid by Messrs. Phipps, < fc Co. to any person or persons giving such information as will lead to his apprehension. Information to Chief Constable Keenan, Northampton.— Bow- street, Nov. 10. Stolen at Seacombe, on 15th ultimo :— a silver lever Watch, and heavv gold albert Guard, recovered ; a gold Locket, with blood stone on one side, and white stone ou the other, fastened with two plain brass links ; a dark blue cloth shooting Coat, bound with braid, 2 pockets in skirts behind, and 1 inside each breast, cloth lining, and cloth covered buttons to match ; a single breasted roll collared Vest, of same material, bound with braid, pockets on each side, and small watch pocket. By GEORGE MORRIS, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, dark eyes, dark brown hair cut very short, no whiskers or moustache, slight build ; and when last seen was dressed in grey tweed suit, low hard felt hat, and lace- up boots. Description of ROBERT TACKABURY, charged with larceny as a bailee of a watch, at New Brighton, ou 21st Sept. last : — he iff- J%- atch maker, about 25 years of age. -, 4feet high, slender build, sallow complexion, grey eyes, dark brotvn hair, hiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark cloth clothes, rather shabby, long overcoat, and low boots ; was last heard of at Bradford, which town he left early iu October last. Charged on a warrant with embezzleing £ 52 17s. 6 d., the property of the Overseers of the parish of Hordley :— JOHN HENRY DAVIES, late schoolmaster at Hordley, and assistant overseer for the same parish, he is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 8 iuches high, rather spare build, dark couiplexiou, black hair, sometime? worn over the foreheard, dark brown whiskers and slight moustache; fashionably dressed iu a small hard rouud black bat, black diagoua. 1 cloth coat, and grey cloth trousers and vest ; he is food of foot- balling, cricketing, billiards and bagatelle, last known place of residence No. 4, Boot Passage, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire. Information to Mr. Supt. Gough, Oswestry, or to Sergeant Walters, Police Station, Ellesmere, who holds the warrant. — Bow- street, November 10. Absconded from Blaina, on 29th ultimo, charged with stealing 3 Watches, 1st a silver lever Watch, recovered ; 2nd, a single case silver verge Watch, open face, white dial, black figures, No. 21464, small second hand, and a cap on works; 3rd, an open face German silver Watch, white dial, black figures, dial cracked, dent in cases, near the spring, steel Chain attached :— FREDERICK STOWBRIDGE, a tramp- ing watch and clock maker, a native of Newton Abbot, Devonshire, about 45 to 47 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, proportionate made, rather sallow complexion, dark brown hair, turning grey, whiskers at side of face, heavy moustache, chiu shaved, tender and splay footed, dejected ap- pearance ; dressed in a black cloth coat, pockets on hips, siugle breasted, black cloth trousers, black hard rouud hat, aud lace- up boots, much worn, has the appearance of a tramping tailor, carries a snitll box, wrapped up in a paper, uuder his arm, calls from house to house soliciting work. Stolen at Withington, between 10 a m. and 12.30 p. m 2nd instaut:— 4J yards of stair Carpet, 20 inches wide, leaf pattern, red and black centre, with green and black border. Supposed by a woman, about 50 years of age, rather stout; dressed in a black dress, and cross baired shawl, black bonnet, bad a red blotched face. Information at County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester. — Bow- street, November 10. Stolen at Redcar, on 4th instant :— a pair • of cord Trousers ; and a blue cloth tight- fitting double- breasted Coat, two buttons behind, ( trousers since found pledged at Middles- borough). By a man, 27 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, face much freckled, red or ginger hair, whiskers, and mo. istache, stout figure ; dressed in grey coat, white slop underneath, moleskin trousers, dark hard felt hat, light coloured muffler, low shoes, much worn, metal boot proteotora on soles, has the appearance of a plasterer ; speaks with : t South country accent; states that his parents reside at Whitby ; he had some printtd papers in his possession which he Btated he had received from the Governor of a Prison in London. Description of GEORGE RAMSELL, alias BOLT, charged with stealing a silver Watch ( recoveri- d) : — about 44 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sallow complexion, clean shaved on chin, small dark whiskers; dressed in old black jaskot aud trou « ers, old elastic- side boots, usually wear* an old brown apron with bib, and goes about selling pens and ueedles j lived in Shrewsbury for about 18 month, has a brother living at Brownhills, Staffordshire ; he ltft Styejja- bury on 30th ultimo, the day on which the robbery was'com- mitted. Absconded about 13th* ultimo, eharged on a warrant with stealing £ 650, in French Bank Notes and Money :— ADOLPH KAUFMANN, late of No. 1, Crown Court, Tiireadneedle- st„ aud No. 3, Colville Gardens, Bayswater, about DO years of age, 5 li inches high, hair, whiskers and moustache dark, turning grey, hooked nose, foreign appearance; and dresses respectably. Stolen between 12 noon, and 1 p. m. 2nd instant, from a clothes line at Haslingden : — two men's Shirts, of blue sateen cloth, one with a narrow red and white Stripe, the other with a narrow red stripe only :— suspicion attached to a man, supposed to be hawking, as he carried a small box, similar to Hudson's dry soap boxes, under his arm, about 35 years of age, 6 feet G or 7 inches high, dark whiskers; dressed in a black coat, white fustian trousers, and black billy- cock hat. Information at County Police Office, bacup.— Bow- it., November 6. information's shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the perpetrators of this felony; and a further reward of £ 100 will be similarly paid by the London and North Western Railway Company. Infor- Great Scotland Yard.— Metropolitan FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Chargsd with obtaining Money by false pretences, at Harrogate :— THOMAS PALMER, states he is a member of at firm styled Palmer, Cross, & Co., Bristol, 35 to 38 years of age, about " 5 feet 8 inches high, light complexion, brown whiskers aud moustache, cut square, hair cut short, shaves at chia, rather slender build ; dressed in a light brown suit, and low hat; he is of gentlemanly appearance, steps sharply, and appears somewhat irritable in his manner. He was accompanied by a woman, about 30 years of age, stout and fresh looking. They left Harrogate by rail on the afternoon of 16th ultimo, for Leeds. He had in his possession a number of dock warrants of the London and St. Catherine Dock Company, London, relating to bales of Tobacco, three of which he l<; ft as security for money advanced, which on enquiry turned out to be worthless. His practice seems to be to stay several days at an hotel, aud then tender a worth- less cheque in payment of his account. Information to Mr. Supt. Abscourtod from Stroud, on 28th ultimo, charged under a warrant with steallug C Coats, five recovered :— ARTHUR TOWNSEND, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light brown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, and stoops a little when walking; drecsed in a loose dark jacket, imitation sea'.- nkiu waistcoat, dark trousers, hard black felt hat, elastic- side boots ; has been employed as an errand boy, but lately in the Post Office. COCKER, of Ipswich, seaman, 27 years of age, 5 feet 9J inches high, light hair, thick light moustache, no whiskers, swarthy complexion, stout build, and is of military appearance ; dressed in brqjyn cloth trousers ami vest, and no coat; ho is likely to try for employment at Dockyards or Shipping Agents; has been employed at tho Commercial Docks, London, deal carrying. He is 30 years of age, 5 feet 51 inches high, stout, dark complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes, oval face, marks— cut thick of left { thumb, tattooed inside of right forearm ( wreath . f flowers), scar on right groin, cupped back of neck, is a tailor and a native of Ashbury ; has been convicted at Cirencester and Gloucester. Prison, Nottingham, sentenced at Nottingham for stealing a Watch to 6 calendar months and one years police supervision ; was liberated October 2 2, and has since failed to report at Codnor Park, Notts; 45 years of age, a native of Swanwick, a dressmaker, married, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, 5 feet 3| inches high, stout build, and round face. Failed to report themselves at Liverpool:— License holder EDWARD JONES, a clerk, 32 years of age, 5 feet 6i inches high, stout build, black hair, brown eyes, oval features, varicose veins on right leg, cut mark on nose, lost upper front tooth, a native of Dublin. He was convicted at the Dublin City Sessions on the 10th August, 1876, of larceny from the person, after a previous conviction of felony, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude ; he was released from H. M. Convict Prison, Lusk, on the 30th of August last. Supervisee CATHERINE CONNOR, alias STEWART, 38 years of age, 5 feet 5i inches high, medium build, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, round features, mole over left eye, and one on right cheek; is married, and a native of Kingstown, Ireland. She was convicted at the Liverpool Borough Sessions on the 7th January, 1879, of larceny, after a previous conviction of felony, and sentenced to 15 months imprisonment, and 5 years police supervision. License holder Y 434, JAMES SMITH, alias KELLY, advertised in Police Gazette of 21st April, 1879, apprehended and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. License holder X 364, JOHN CRITCHLEY, advertised in Police Gazette of 12th May last, for failing to report him- self at Wigan, is apprehended aud committed for trial at the next Liverpool City Sessions for larceny.
