Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Sijnuture of the person requiring or sending the some, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Polico Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is dosired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offenoe charged, and an attosted copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwardod to the Editor for insertion. As no oharge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all L. ettern addressed to the Editor mUHt be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Desortors from the Army, and • f Absentees and Doserters from the Militia, should bo forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in tho POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 8). The person by whom it will bo paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by t'ne persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of tho offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." Supposed by 2 men and a woman, the latter had a ticket for Birmingham from London, the men were travelling without tickets. Some of the articles are marked with a crest of two wolves, some with one wolf, with its tail down, and others with an eagle in a shield. Two men suspected of committing the burglaiy were traced to Malvern Railway Station on the morning of the robbery, and from thence to Worcester and Birmingham ( they were carrying a carpet bag each) : one is from 35 to 40 years o( age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes; the other is from 30 to 33 years of age, light hair, sandy whiskers, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes and ha. d flat top hat. .£ 100 reward will be paid by Mr. Biddulph on the recovery of the property, or in proportion to its value, and the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to the Chief Constable of Hereford- shire, Shire Hall, Hereford, or to Mr. Supt. Blunsden, Police Office, Ledbury.— Bow- street, November 8. Stolen by means of housebreaking, atKyre, near Tenbury on 2nd instant:— a pair cased silver Watch, No. 380, a small piece broken off dial at figures 6 and 12 ; a silk Handkerchief, twill; and a cotton do., twill. Supposed by a man, from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark whiskers round face ; dressed in dirty slop, dark trousers, billycock hat, and heavy boots; had the appearance of a labourer, and was going in the direction of Bromyard, Herefordshire. Information to Mr. Supt. Hardman, Great Witley, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, November 8. During the night of 2nd instant, were burglariously stolen : From Farringdon House, Exeter :— 4 silver Stands, for the glasses holding the salt' ; a silver biscuit Bowl ; a silver mustard Spoon ; 2 silver pudding Spoons, with cut edges ; 12 sdver Knives, 12 silver Forks, wrenched out of handles; 3 silver napkin Rings, one engraved ' H. R. J. J.,' one engraved E. J.,' the other engraved ' E. M. J.'; a silver cup Cover, about 8 inches high ; a gold finger Ring, engraved crest Wolf ' ; some id., ld„ and 2| d. Postage and Receipt Stamps. From Farringdon Rectory :— an old silver pepper Castor ; a pair of silver sugar Tongs ; a small mustard Spoon. £ 100 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to the Chief Constable of Devon, Exeter.— Bow- street November 5. Stolen by means of burglary, during the night of 31st ultimo, from Burhill Farm, Horsham :— 6 dessert Spoons, plated ; 2 pairs of laced Boots, one pair woman's size, one man's size; 2 Ulsters, woman's size, one grey, the other brown ; 6 yards of Flannel, grey with white strip a; 1 counter pane, honeycomb pattern, with fringe ; 1 black Bonnet, red flower with wreath of leaves. A man, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark whiskers round face and chin ; dressed in dark coat or vest with sleeves, rather high black felt hat, was seen in the bedroom. Information to Mr. Supt. By 3 men, one about 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, heavy black moustache, no beard or whiskers,' oval visage ; dressed in dark grey vest, trousers, and jacket, round hard felt hat. Another about 35 years of age, pale complexion, short stubby whiskers, no moustache, oval visage ; dressed in black cloth vest, trousers, and coat. The other about 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches or 6 feet high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, heavy light moustache; dressed in dark suit, and high silk hat, Information to Mr. Supt. Dobson, Constabulary Office, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- street, November 3. Harness, nearly new, square blinkers, white metal furniture :— TENTON LADBROKE, alias COOPER, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, eyes, moustache, bad feet, supposed from gout; dressed when last seen in black diagonal overcoat, low chummy hat, and wears a steel albert guard ; was accompanied by a female, upposed to be his wife, about 27 years of age, very short, hair frizzed in front; dressed in long seal- skin jacket, bound with fur, black bonnet, trimmed with heads and bugles, and black lace strings, has also a navy blue waterproof in her possession. Pony, Cart and Harness not yet recovered. In- formation to Chief Constable Ogden, Great Yarmouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 5 During the night of 31st ultimo, the residence of His Grace the Duke of Somerset, Bulstrode- park, Gerrard's Cross, Bucks, was burglariouely broken into and stolen therein :— a black cloth Coat, 9 ft. long, lined with brown fur; a black cloth Jacket, collar, cuffs, and skirt trimmed with black or brown fur; a lady's waterproof Cloak ; a bracket Claik, gold face, marble fame, and gilt handle at top ; a silver- plated Candle- stick, and a brown Railway Rug. Information to Mr. Supt. Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, Nov. 3. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Charged with stealing on 27th ultimo, a light grey Pony, about 13 hands high, hog mane, chipped kneea, has a corn on each front foot; a shooting Cart, painted dark blue, mahogany panel in centre, wheels and shafts lined white, the top rail be- hind broken, one tug slopped out of shaft; set of black leather LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen at Redcar, on 4th instant :— a pair of cord Trousers ; and a blue cloth tight- fitting double- breasted Coat, two buttons behind, ( trousers since found pledged at Middles- borough). By a man, 27 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, face much freckled, red or ginger hair, whiskers, and moustache, stout figure ; dressed in grey coat, white slop underneath, moleskin trousers, dark hard felt hat, light coloured muffler, low shoes, much worn, metal boot protestors on soles, has the appearance of a plasterer ; speaks with a SoutSS country accent; states that his parents reside at Whitby 5 he had some printed papers in hia- possession which he stated he had received from the Governor of a Prison in London. Information to Mr. Supt. Clarkson, Guisborough, North Riding Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November 8. Charged on warrant, with embezzleing upwards of £ 500 in Manchester :— a man 28 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark frizzy hair, parted in the centre, dark eyes, large prominent nose, rather heavy lips, sallow complexion, longish features, good teeth, no beard, slight moustache; dressed in a suit of black cloth, black cloth Chesterfield overcoat, aud silk hat; he absconded on the eveniug of 3rd instant, and had with him a small squ ire tin box, oval top, with h nd! e on the top. 20 guineas reward. Information at Detective Office, Town Hall, Manchester.— Bow- street, November 8. Description of GEORGE RAMSELL, alias BOLT' charged with stealing a silver Watch ( recovered) :— about 44 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sallow complexion, clean shaved on chin, small dark whiskers; dressed in old black jacket and trousers, old elastic- side boots, usually wears an old brown apron with bib, and goes about selling pens aud needles; lived in Shrewsbury for about 18 month, lias a brother living at Brownhills, Staffordshire ; he left Shrews- bury ou 30th ultimo, the day on which the robbery was com- mitted. Information to Mr. Supt. Howells, Shrewsbury, or to Sergeant Lear, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, November 8. Absconded about 13th ultimo, eharged on a warrant with stealing ,£ 650, in French Bauk Notes and Money :— ADOLPH KAUFMANN, late of No. 1, Crown Court, Threadueedle- st,, and No. 3, Colville Gardens, Bayswater, about 50 years of age, 5 11 inches high, hair, whiskers and moustache dark, turning grey, hooked nose, foreign appearance; and dresses respectably. Information to Inspector McWilliam, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C. — Bow- street, Novemcer 8. Stolen between 12 noon, and 1 p. m. 2nd instant, from a clothes line at Haslingden :— two men's Shirts, of blue sateen cloth, one with a narrow red and white stripe, the other with a narrow red stripe only:— suspicion attached to a man, supposed to be hawking, as he carried a small box, similar to Hudson's dry soap boxes, under his arm, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark whiskers ; dressed in a black coat, white fustian trousers, and black billy- cock hat. Information at County Police Office, Bacu;>.— Bow- st., November 8. Absconded from Stroud, on 28th ultimo, charged under a warrant with stealing 6 Coats, five recovered :— ARTHUR TOWNSEND, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light brown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, and stoops a little when walking ; dressed in a loose dark jacket, imitation seal- skin waistcoat, dark trousers, hard black felt hat, elastic- side boots ; has been employed as an errand boy, but lately in the Post Office. And GEORGE BAKER, 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark brown hair, brown eyes, fresh complexion, freckled underneath eyes ; dressed in a suit of dark grey tweed, hard black felt hat, elastic- side boots, and is a butcher by trade. They are supposed to be making for London, for the purpose of enlisting. Information to Mr. Supt. Philpott, Police Station, Stroud, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, Nov. 8. Absconded 25th ultimo, from No. 113, High- street, Shoreditch, charged with stealing a black field Glass; 3 Coats ; and other articles :— MOSES COHEN, a Jew, 32 yrs. of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, complexion, hair, beard and moustache, dark, prominent nose, near sighted ; dress, grey 2 P O L I C E GAZETTE. November 8 overcoat, dark cloth trousers and vest, high hat, gentlemanly appearance ; had 2 portmanteaus, may be found at Birming- ham. Information to the Director of C. I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, November 5. Description of a wornau who pledged a Watch, stolen from Chorlton- cum- Hardy, on 30th ultimo :— about 23 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, fresh complexion ; daessed in black hat, and dark circular cloak, she has a smart appearance, and can be identified. Information at County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester. — Bom- street, November 5. Further information respecting WILLIAM BOLTER, a tramping shoemaker, a native of Kington, Herefordshire, advertised in Police Gazette of 20th September last, charged with stealing Watch, & c., at Gladstry, Radnorshire :— he is bald on top of head, hair and whiskers turning grey ; dressed in a double- breasted dark pilot jacket, large buttons. Yery talkative, has been in the Militia, was in Worcester on 6th Octaber, goes about the country begging, sleeps in out- houses, or seeks a ticket for a nights lodging, a notorious poacher ; the number of the Watch is 1577. Information to the Chief Constable, Penybont, or to Sergeant Thomas, New Radnor, Radnorshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bates!., November 5. Charged on warrant with breaking into the barge ' Button,' at Freston, near Ipswich, on 4th ult., ami stealing a quantity of Wearing Apparel:— WM. COCKER, of Ipswich, seaman, 27 years of age, 5 feet 9£ inches high, light hair, thick light moustache, no whiskers, swarthy complexion, stout build, and is of military appearance ; dressed in brown cloth trousers and v< st, and no coat; he is likely to try for employment at Dockyaids or Shipping Agents ; has been employed at the Commercial Docks, London, deal carrying. Information to Mr. Supt. Fisher, County Buildings, Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds the warrant.— Bow- stnet, November 5. Stolen from Windsor, on 29th ultimo :— a costermonger's Barrow, painted green, lias a star on the front, and initials on each side ' J. F.' burned in. By a man who stated his name was EDEN, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light moustache, and side whiskers ; wore a white apron, and was respectably diessed. Warrant issued. Information to Mr. Supt. Hayes, Police Office, Windsor, Berks.— Bow- street, November 3. stolen about 6 a. m. on 29th ultimo, from a lodging- house at Uttoxeter :— a pair of grey tweed Trousers,' fly fronts, man'H size ; a grey tweed Vest, man's size, both nearly new ; a white linen Shirt, nearly new, and man's size ; a coloured Shirt, nearly new, and man's size; a dark woollen Ulster Cloak, worn, black button s on sleeves and down the front, with plaiu hood pointed on the back ; a pair of leather lace- up Boots ( child's), nearly new ; 8 yards of brown- corded Dress Piece ; and 4 yards of slate- coloured Lining. By a man who lodged in the house the previous night, 21 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, light curly hair, light mouBtache, and whiskers and beard shaved ; dressed in old dark tweed jacket, corduroy trousers, black hard felt hat, and old elastic side boots. His name is supposed to be FLORENCE BRIGHT BROUGH, a native of Stafford, who is wanted ill that and neighbouring towns for similar offences. He talked much about Stafford, Loughborough, Burton- on- Trent, Rugeley, & c. Information to Mr. Supt. Williams, Leek, or to Sergeant White, Town Hall, Uttoxeter. — Bow- street, November 3. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described.) On the evening of 12th September, a Packet of Dynamite was placed on the London and North Western Railway, between Bushey and Watford ; and a similar substance was procured on 2nd September, by a person of the following description :— 40 to 45 years of age, about 5 feet 9 or 10 ins. high, rather stout build, black moustache and imperial, remainder of face and chin shaved, giving a fictitious address at the Charing Cross Hotel, and writing a hand of which the following is a fac- simile : Notice is hereby given, that Her Majesty's Government will pay a reward of .£ 100 to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the perpetrators of this felony; and a further reward of .£ 100 will be similarly paid by the London and North Western Railway Company. And notice is hereby further giveD, that Her Majesty's Secretary of State for tho Home Department has signified his intention of recommending, that Her Majesty's most gracious pardon shall be granted to any accomplice in the said felony— not being the actual per- petrator thereof— who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction as aforesaid. Infor- mation to the Director, Great Scotland Yard.— Metropolitan Police, November 8. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Absconded, obtaining [ money ( generally from solicitors)) by falsely representing herself to be the neice of a doctor at Surbiton, gives the name of names of Miss BURY, WOOD- WARD, and JONES, states she has lost her hand- bag and purse in it, and requires some money to pay her railway fare home :— a woman 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion ; dress dark brown, black jacket and bonnet, springjfside &) ots, black kid gloves, ladylike appearance. In- formation Jmlie Director, C. I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. W. — Metro* mntan Police, November 3. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. t Missing from his home since 5 a. m., on 3rd instant, it is feared some ill has befallen him :- JOHN LANCASTER, of Wootton, near Bedford, a labourer, 46 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, small whiskers, slight build ; dressed in black billycock hat, nearly new, old grey coat, cord trousers, dark leggings, and lace- up boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Kennedy, County Police Station, Bedford.— Bow- sti- eet, November 8. The body of a hewly born male chile, was found upon the Great Western Railway line, near Knowle, at 4.30 p. m. 5th instant, the body was lying in the 6 foot way, near to the down line of Rails, and was wrapped in a piece of white rag. Information to Mr. Supt. Yardley, Acocks Green, near Bir- mingham.— Bow- street, November 8. Remanded at Portsmouth until 12th instant, charged with stealing Jewellery from a public- house :— WM. EDWARD FOSTER ( address refused), bettiDg man, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches hiah, light brown hair, grey eyes, fair ( pale) complexion, small light moustache and imperial, a small scar across bridge of nose, and one at side of left eye, bracelet and pendant tattooed on left fore- arm in red and blue ink, atid cutaneous eruption over body ; dressed in square top black felt hat, black worsted overcoat, makers ' Hoare and Sou, 253, High Holborn, London', black diagonal cloth frock coat, vest of dame material, dark tweed trousers, button boots, and black tie with silver horse- shoe pin. CHAS.
