The Names of Accomplice* and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the porson requiring or sending the same, and all opplications in referonce to tho POLICE GAZETTE may be mado ahd addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is dosired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is givon, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be mado and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offenco charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters* addressed to the Editor miiHt be prepaid, otherwise tho insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and • f Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88*, to the Editor, as above, for insortion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offoring rewards must state dearly.—( 1) The amount of the reword. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). Tho person by whom it will bo paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by t'ae persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of the offender. Stolen from the person, at Didcot Station, Berks, on 23rd ultimo, between 5 and 6 o'clock :— a double bottom consular engine turned |- plategold lever Watch, No. 15882. Supposed by 2 men and a woman, the latter had a ticket for Birmingham from London, the men were travelling without tickets. Stolen from the person iu Market Drayton Fair, on 25tli ultimo :— 2 gold Watches, one English Lever centre second stop Watch, No. 21318, ' W. H. B.' engraved on back of case, nearly new ; the other an English Lever centre second stop Watch, No. 60910, maker's name Daniels, Liverpool. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Stolen from the person, at Burton- ou- Trent fair, on 29th ultimo:— 2 Bank of England £ 5 Notes, Nos. 65— a 84711 and 84712, dated 2nd October, 1877, and stamped at the Midland Banking Co., Ottoxeter. Information to Mr. Supt. Harston, Burton- oh- Trent, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, November 1. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address er other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." INFORMATIONS FORGERY. In custody, charged with forgery, two Frenchmen :— One gives tho name of ERNEST COOKE, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, proportionate build, browu hair, whiskers and moustache, turning grey. The other ERNEST TREVILLE, about 18 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, slender build, pale complexion, few whiskers down side of face. They have been passing at Derby, in the name of Cooke, Brown, & Co., Wine, Spirit, and Provision Merchants, Export aud Import ; Messrs. Bennett, Central Bank, Derby ; and Mons. Lincoln, Agents for Commercial Security, Nottingham. They send large orders for butter, eggs, & c., to France aud Spain, iu tbe name of Cook, Brown, aud Co., and five for reference Mr. Bennett, Central Bank, Derby ; Mons. lincoln, Nottingham, which aro one and the same people In their possession were found Bill- heads, Bhewiug they bad passed at Southampton in the name of M. C. De Yollick, The Bank, Southampton ; also E. A. Allen and Co, Whole- sale- house Merchants, Shipping Agents, and Wholesale Butter Dealeis. At Bright" u, in name of Emmanuel E. De Mosley, Oporto and Lisbon, Commercial Bank, Branch Establishment; and Messrs Baker and Co., Wholesale- house for Foreign Produce, Import aud Export, 21, West- street At Hull, in names of A. Wilson and Co., Limited, Wine and Spirit Merchants, Provisions fur Steamers, Import aud Export, also Agents for Commercial Security, Manager Mons. Butt; aud a large quantity of French Correspondence. They are accompanied by a youth, 16 years of age, a Frenchman, and a French woman ( said to be Cooke's wife), aud three young children. Information to Chief Constable Delacombe Derby.— Sow- street, November 1. Absconded on 19th ultimo, charged with forgery, fraud and embezzlement :— EDWIN or EDWARD FRANCIS, 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, Ballow complexion, black hair and moustache, no whiskers, thin face, small features, large grey eyes, dirty irregular teeth,' walks quickly, and throws out the right foot; dressed iu light over coat, dark walking under do., dark trousers. Is au excelleut mecliai. ic ( ironworker aud moulder), native of Stratford- on Avon, has been employed at Melbourne, Cambridgeshire Rugeley, and known at Burton- ou- Trent and Llandudno, Has a cheque book, cheques Nos. R. J. J.,' one engraved ' E. J.,' the other engraved ' E. M. J.'; a silver cup Cover, about 8 inches high ; a gold finger Ring, engraved crest Wolf1 ; some id., ld„ and 2} d. Stolen by means of burglary, during the night of 31st ultimo, from Burhill Farm, Horsham :— 6 dessert Spoons, platea ; 2 pairs of laced Boots, one pair woman's size, one man's size; 2 Ulsters, woman's size, one grey, the other brown ; 6 yards of Flannel, grey with white strip* ; 1 counter- pane, honeycomb pattern, with fringe ; 1 black Bonnet, red flower with wreath of leaves. A man, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark whiskers round face and chin; dressed in dark coat or vest with sleeves, rather high black felt hat, was seen in the bedroom. Information to Mr. Supt. Another about 35 years of age, pale complexion, short stubby whiskers, no moustache, oval visage ; dressed in black cloth vest, trousw rs, aud coat. The other about 30 yeais of age, 5 feet 11 inches or 6 feet high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, heavy light moustache ; dressed in dark suit, and high s;; k hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Dobson, Constabulary Office, Brentwood, Essex.— Bonfftreet, N- v mbe>• 3. During the night of 28th ultimo, a burglary was com- mitted at the resideuce of Lady Ashburton, at Melshet- park near Wbiteparish, but no property missing. There were foot marks of two persons round the house, both wearing goloshes During the same night the residence of Colonel Durey, at Broxmure- park, near Whiteparish, was burglariously broken into and stolen therein :— two silver Candlesticks, ecgraved under the bottom ' Legacy left by John Sherwell to It. Bristow, Esq., 1720 ;' a silver Snuff Box ; eight silver Tea Spoons and a Dessert ditto, with crest— on eagle standing on a crescent ; a pair of Sugar Tongs, same crest ; .. silver Cruet Stand and five Bottles with silver tops ; a gold Seal, onyx handle, with coat of arms ; a ditto, chaise and horses. Some of the articles are markad with the crest of o wolf, some with two wolves, and others with an eagle. £ 20 reward will be paid by Mr. Biddulph on the recovery of the property and the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to the Chief Constable of Herefordshire, Shire Hall, Hereford, or to Mr. Superintendent Blunsden, Police Office, Ledbury.— Bow- street, November 1. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Charged with stealing on 27th ultimo, a light grey Pony, about 13 hands high, hog mane, chipped knees, has a corn on each front foot; a shooting Cart, painted dark blue, mahogany panel in ceutre, wheels and shafts lined white, the top rail be- hind broken, one tug stopped out of shaft; set of black leather Harness, nearly new, square blinkers, white metal furniture :— TENTON LADBROKE, alias COOPER, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, eyes, moustache, bad feet, supposed from gout; dressed when last sefj' „ nblack diagonal overcoat, low chummy hat, and wears a stet? t albert guard ; " was aceoinpan.^! —., t a female, supposed to be his wife, about 27 years of age, very short, hair frizzed in front; dressed in long seal- skin jacket, bound with fur, black bonnet, trimmed with beads and bugles, and black lace strings, has also a navy blue waterproof in her possession. Pony, Cart and Harness not yet recovered. In- formation to Chief Constable Ogden, Great Yarmouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 5 During the night of 31st ultimo, the residence of His Grace the Duke of Somerset, Bulstrode- park, Gerrard's Cross, Bucks, was burglariously broken into and stolen therein :— a black cloth Coat, 9 ft. long, lined with brown fur; a black cloth Jacket, collar, cuffs, and skirt trimmed with black or brown fur; a lady's waterproof Cloak ; a bracket Cloak, gold face, marble fame, and gilt handle at top ; a silver- plated Candle- stick, and a brown Railway Rug. Information to Mr. Supt. Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bmo- street, Nov. 3. Amended description of WILLIAM CHAMBERLIN, charged with stealing a Horse, Trap, and Harness at Ludgers Wall, on 15th ultimo, advertised in Police Gazette of 22nd ultimo :— he is about 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, small dark moustache, no whiskers ; of good address and gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in dark tweed coat aud vest, light tweed or dark mixture trousers, very low crown bowler hat with the Royal Arms and ' J. R. Pritchard, 1, Brittox, Devizes,' stamped ou the silk lining inside, black silk necktie, and stand- up collar. His parents reside at 25, Phil pot- street, Stepney, London. He is well kuown iu the neighbourhood of Pimlico- road, London, and Overton, Hants. Has been in the employ of Mr. F. Artis, photographer, 7, Unity- place, Woolwich, as a canvasser, siuce June last, and has also been in the employ as Agent to Chanington, Sells, & Co., Coal Merchants, Upper Chapman- street, St. George's E., London. Information to Mr. Supt. Baldwin, Devizes, or to Mr. Supt. Wiltshire, Marlborough, Wilts.— Bow- street, November 1. Stolen from a field at Oldfield, Chetton, dining the night of 22nd instant:— a black mare Pony, aged, about 13 hands high, small white spot ou off side, underneath the saddle, tail cut short, » nd one shoe off the off fore foot. Information to Mr. Supt. Galliers, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Tiler, Mor- ville, Salop.— Bow- street, October 29. Stolen from a meadow at Oxted, Surrey, during the night of 24th instant :— a dark brown mare Pony, aged, 14 bauds high, off fore foot white, a little white ou near fore foot, tail has been cut, in good condition. High- street, Shoreditcb, charged with stealing a black field Glass; 3 Coats ; and other articles : — MOSES COHEN, a Jew, 32 yrs. of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, complexion, hair, beard aud moustache, dark, prominent nose, near sighted ; dress, grey overcoat, dark cloth trousers and vest, high hat, gentlemanly appearance ; had 2 portmanteaus, may be found at Birming- ham. Information to the Director of C I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, November 5. Description of a woman who pledged a Watch, stolen from Chorlton- cum- Hardy, on 30th ultimo :— about 23 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, fresh complexion ; daessed in black hat, and dark circular cloak, she has a smart 2 POLICE GAZETTE. November 1 appearance, and can be identified. Information at County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester. — Bow- street, November 5. Further information respecting WILLIAM BOLTER, a tramping shoemaker, a native of Kington, Herefordshire, advertised in Police Gazette of 20th September last, charged with stealing Watch, & c., at Gladstry, Radnorshire :— he is bald on top of head, hair and whiskers turning grey ; dressed in a double- breasted dark pilot jacket, large buttons. Very talkative, lias been in the Militia, was in Worcester on Cth Octaber, goes about the country begging, sleeps in out houses, or seeks a ticket for a nights lodging, a notorious poacher ; the number of the Watch is 1577. Information to the Chief Constable, Peuybont, or to Sergeant Thomas, New Radnor, Radnorshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- it., November 5. Charged on warrant with breaking into the barge « Button,' at Freston, near Ipswich, on 4th ult., and stealing a quantity of Wearing Apparel:— WM. COCKER, of Ipswich, seaman, 27 years of age, 5 feet 9J inches high, light hair, thick light moustache, no whiskers, swarthy complexion, stout build, and is of military appearance; dressed in brown cloth trousers and vest, and no coat; he is likely to try for employment at Dockyards or Shipping Agents; has been employed at the Commercial Docks, London, deal carrying. Information to Mr. Supt. Fisher, County Buildings, Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, November 6. Stolen from Windsor, on 29th ultimo :— a costermonger's Barrow, painted green, has a star on the front, and initials on each side ' J. F.' burned in. By a man who stated his name was EDEN, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light moustache, and side whiskers ; wore a white apron, and was respectably dressed. Warrant issued. Information to Mr. Supt. Hayes, Police Office, Windsor, Berks.— Bmo- street, November 3. Stolen about 6 a. m. on 29th ultimo, from a lodging- house at Uttoxeter :— a pair of grey tweed Trousers, Jfiy fronts, man's size ; a grey tweed Vest, man's size, both nearly new ; a white linen Shirt, nearly new, and man's size; a coloured Shirt, nearly new, and man's size; a dark woollen Ulster Cloak, worn, black buttons on sleeves and down the front, with plain hood pointed on the back; a pair of leather lace- up Boots ( child's), nearly new ; 8 yards of brown- corded Dress Piece ; and 4 yards of slate- coloured Lining, By a man who lodged in the house the previous night, 21 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, light curly hair, light moustache, and whiskers and beard Bhaved ; dressed in old dark tweed jacket, corduroy trousers, black hard felt hat, and old elastic side boots. His name is supposed to be FLORENCE BRIGHT BROUGH, a native of Stafford, who is wanted in that and neighbouring towns for similar offences. He talked much about Stafford, Loughborough, BurtoD- on- Trent, Rugeley, & e. Information to Mr. Supt. Williams, Leek, or to Sergeant White, Town Hall, Uttoxeier. — Bow- street, November 3. Charged with stealing, at Burton- on- Trent, on 28th ultimo, a ISag containing 6 gold stone Brooches ; 2 fine gold square Broocjies ; 10 silver Necklets ; 8 silver albert Chains ; and 4 silver Seals ; a Parcel containing Jewellery, Ear- rings with gold birds : 8 rolls of silver Brooches and Ear- rings :— a labourer, 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, very dirty appearance; dressed in black round hat, dark jackefe and cord trousers. Infoemation to Mr.' Supt. Harston, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire,— Bow- street, November 1. Stolen on 18th ultimo, from a beer- house in Reading :— a black cloth Coat; a ditto Vest; two grey Vests ; a pair of dark coloured Trousers, with broad stripe ; a hard round felt Hat ; anil two white Handkerchiefs. By GEORGE HAMPSTEAD, alias THOMAS BARTER, 24 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and light moustache ; a private of the 49th Regiment, his uniform was left behind ; was discharged from Millbank Prison, on 7th September last. Infoimation to Mr. Chief Supt. Purchase, Borough Police Station, Reading, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 1. Charged with stealing a silver Geneva hunting Watch, from his lodgings, Stoke- on- Trent, on 23rd ultimo:— CLARENCE BRIGHT BROUGH, a native of Stafford, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, pale com- plexion, dark hair and moustache ; has been a steward on board ship. Information to Mr. Supt. Bowen, Stoke- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 1. Stolen on 26th ultimo, from No. 3, Castle - square, Reading :— a large metal consular Watch, maker Hancock, Winchester, No. 10316. By WALTER BULL, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair; dressed in brown slop or jacket, cord trousers, and billycock hat, clothing very dirty and shabby ; is a native of Newbury, Berks. Information to Mr. Chief Supt, Purchase, Borough Police Station, Reading, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 1. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Absconded, obtaiuiug | money ( generally from solicitors), by falsely representing herself to be the neice of a doctor at, Surbiton, gives the name of names of Miss BURY, WOOD- WARD, aud JONES, states she has lost her hand- bag and purse in it, and requires some money to pay her railway fare home :— a woman 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion ; dress dark brown, black jacket and bonnet, Bpring- side boots, black kid gloves, ladylike appearance. In- formation to the Director, C. I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. W. — Metrovolitan Police, November 3. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Remanded to 8tli instant, at Hanley, charged with larceny :— REUBEN LARNER, 18 years of age, 5 feet 4J inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, slender build, marks - large cut between eyebrows, mole on right side of neck, on right breast and under left breast, a native of Worcester, and a labourer; dressed in old brown cloth cap, with peak, dark cloth vest, dirty moleskin trousers, and clogs; states he worked in brickyards at Bir- mingham, Hednesford, aud Brownhills, but for the last few mouths tramping the country. Information to Mr. Supt. Bowen, Stok « - upon- Trent, or to Inspector Chaplain, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, November 6.
