Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may bo made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. %* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that aa information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. AB no charge is made for the msertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and • f Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should bo forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of tt e reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by the persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of the offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." PRISON and POLICE AUTHORITIES are requested to be good enough to inform the Editor of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Police Gazette" no longer necessary. The other 32 years of age, rather short, dark complexion, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in frock coat, dark trousers, plaid scarf, and hard felt hat. A third man was seen with them with sandy whiskers In- formation to Mr. Supt. O'Kill, Police Station, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow- street, Oc'ober 18. Stolen from the dwellinghouse of Wm. Smith, of Brimfield, Herefordshire, during the absence of the inmates hy entering through a bedroom window, between 27th ultimo and 10th instant :— a black cloth Jacket, with black linings, and two pockets outside, and inside pocket; a pair of black Trousers, with fall fronts ; a pair of striped cloth Trousers, with fall fronts ; and a plaid Vest, all full sized, and in good condition, aud can be sworn to. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person in Preston, on the night of 14th instant:— a silver lever Watch, flat glass, white dial, gold hands, sunk seconds, gold hinges, No. 7237, maker' R. Scanlon Preston,' on works. Information to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Borough Police Station, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 20. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of burglary, at West Malling, Kent, on 18th instant:— 1 silver milk . lug; 1 silver toast Rack one leg broken off, with crest— laurel branches crossed ; 1 silver Waiter, small, with monogram ' T. H. L.'; 3 silver egg Spoons, with crest- laurel brauches crossed. Information to Kent County Constabulary, West Malling.— Bow- slreet, October 20. Stolen by means of housebreaking, in Chesterfield, on the evening of the 16th instant:— a silver lever Watch, No. 39563, engine- turning very much worn; a small gold lever Watch, lady's head enamelled on back ; a gold Guard, small links, with gilt Seal and Key and gold Locket attached, locket shape of a book, with swivel neatly worn through and tied with black thread ; a silver keyless Hunting Watch, without glass, gilt albert Guard attached; a silver Geneva Watch, 2 or 3 small old- fashioned silver Watches, and £ b in Gold. Supposed by two tramping painters :— ote about 5 feet 8 ins. high, stout build, and dressed in dark suit, white slop under his coat; the other about 5 feet 9 inches high. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Chesnut Villa, Beverley- road, St. John's Wood, near Hull, on 11th instant: — 4 prints calico Shirts, Collars to match ; a grey woollen striped Shirt; a black cloth twill frock Coat, bound edges, lined with black silk, breast pocket outside left breast; two pockets inside skirt; a crimson and grey woollen Shawl; a silver Brooch, figure of an Assyrian bull, figured centre ; a small do. do , formed of letters ' F. AN.'; a bilver do., do., formed of a knot; a do., do., glass, black quill edges ; a silver Chain and Locket, with ' Souvenir' written across; a coral Necklet, about i yard long ; an Opera Glass in brown Russian leather with gilt fittings, in black case, lined with violet velvet; h lb. During the night of 12th instant, a shoemakers ghop at Fenny Stratford, was broken and entered and stolen there- from :— a pair of boy's lace- up Boots, new, heavy na: i in soles, aud tipped and heeled, No. 2 size ; aud a pair of woman's leather Slippers, lined with light material inside, the property of Seba Young, of Fenny Stratford, shoemaker. Stolen by means of burglary, at Loose, Kent, on 13tli instant:— an old black cloth Jacket, dark lining, pockets at hips, and one inside breast pocket; a double breasted dark- striped tweed Vest j 8s. iu Bronze, and some Provisions. Information to Inspector Baker, Kent Constabulary, Wrena Cross, Maidstone.— How- stree', Oct. 15. • The following is a correct list of Articles stolen from the dwelling- house at Ayleston Park, near Leicester, during the night of 1st instant, advertised in Police Gazette of 8th instant :— A small silver Tea Service, consisting of Teapot, with ivory handles, slightly discoloured, Cream- jug. Sugar- basin, with two silver handles, and a pair of sugar Tongs, all marked ' L. N.' A chased Chatelain, in shape of shield, with three gold chains attached. A gold band Bracelet, set with five stones, consisting of red one in centre, and four aquamarine stones round it. A gold French cable Neck- chain. A pair of urn- shaped gold Ear- rings. A pair of blue turquoise gold Ear- rings and Pendants, with likeness of a young lady in case at back, and gold fringe at bottom of each. A pair of gold French Ear- rings, with blue and piuk 6:: ones or enamel. , ; Two open- work gold shirt Studs, with pearl'in centre. A gilt Stand, for two scent bottles. A pair of Field Glasses, in black frames. A well coloured meerschaum Pipe, with straight stem, massive amber mouthpiece, silver ferrule, and in dark coloured case. A lady's light grey corded silk Dress, with long skirt, two or three flounces round the bottom, the body, and polonaise all in one piece, satin trimming down down the front, 26 or 27 inches round the waist, and had a grey fringe round the polonaise. Tw ® short sealskin Jackets, much worn, fitting tight round the waist, and one of them trimmed with black fur. Information to Mr. Supt. Moore, Belgrave, Leicester. — Bow- street, October 15. Stolen by means of burglary, during the night of 12th instant, from the dwelliog- house of Colonel Craig Osborne, Camberley, Frimley :— a silver Snuff- box, with a long inscrip- tion, including ' Presented to the Honorable Charles Osborne, by the Corporation of Dublin'; also several Indian ivory Ornaments, including a waggon drawn by bullocks. Between 1 a. m. and 7 30 a. m. on 14th instant, a grocers shop, at Aston, was broken and entered and stolen therein :— 5 cads of scented caper Tea, 281b. each ; a double breasted Overcoat, black corded cloth, lined with grey lining, nearly new ; 2 pair of men's elastic- side Boots, recently beeh soled and heeled ; and a cash Box, containing Bills, & c. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Gallaway. Constabulary Station, Aston, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, October 18. Stolen during the night of 11th instant, from a dwelling house, by breaking the window on the ground floor :— a large HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from Cradley, near Malvern, on or about 20th ultimo :— a 2$ years old dark red Heifer, with some white on face, and under belly, cross bred, between a Herefoid and short horL. Information to Mr. Woodhouse, Cr. dty Hall, near Malvern, or Mr. Supt. Ovens, Herefordshire Constabu- lary, Bromyard.— Bow- st., October 20. Charged with stealing 2 Donkeys, from Grimstone Fen, on 14th instant, since recovered :— DOLFREY BRINKLEY, a travelling tinker, about 16 years of age, 4 feet 10 or 11 ins. high, dark brown hair, thin face, and gipsy appearance; dressed in an old long brown coat, with darker patch on right shoulder aud right breast, supposed cord trousers, tight legs, and skull cap. Information to Mr. Supt. Ward, Docking, or to Inspector White, Grimstone Police Station, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 20. Stolen from a field at Bentley, Willenhall, during the night of 16th instant, property of James Lowe, of West Bromwich :— a brown cob Horse, 5 years old, 14 hands high, long mane and tail, white star on forehead, in good condition, shod all round. Longden, Con- stabulary Office, Bilsten, Staffordshire.- Bryw- street, October 20 Found, supposed stolen, in St. Martin's, on 6th instant:— a dark brown, nearly black, waggon Gelding, aged, about 15 hands 2 inches high, white star on forehead, white streak on off side of nose, near hind foot white, slightly lame on near hind leg, in good condition. Information to Mr. Supt. Gough, Oswestry, or to P. C. Cole, The Lodge, Chirk, Ruabon.— Bote- street, October 20. Description of a man who stole five Cows out of a fiold at Aldbrough, near Darlington, on the night of 5th instant, and sold them at Barnard Castle Market on the morning of 6th instant to a cattle dealer, who paid him £ 85 ( thirteen £ 5 notes Backhouse BanK and £ 20 in gold), the man then absconded :— he is 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fair complexion, light hair inclined to be sandy, no whiskers or moustache, proportionate make, Btoops when walking, had a large green shade over left ( supposed for a disguise) ; dressed in brown coat, black vest, black cloth trousers, hard felt hat. Stolen from a field at Lullingstone, on 30th ultimo :— a Heifer or Steer, about 18 months old, ' W. M.' branded on horns, clipped in left ear, brown or brown and white colour. Information to Mr. Supt. Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford. - low- tree', October 15. t „ Stolen on 13th instant, from a field al Monkland :— 10 fat ewe Sheep, nearly all black- faced, and marked with the letters ' W. S.' on right thigh. £ 5 reward will be given on conviction of the offenders. Information to Mr. Supt Dykes, Leominster, or Mr. Smith, Gattertop, Leominster.— Bow- street, October 15. Remanded till 16th instant, charged with stealing a Horse and Cart:— JOHN HURLEY, a tramping Irishman, states he has been a soldier in 102nd Regiment 12 years, has been discharged about 4 years, had been working at Sheernesa. at bricklaying, where he fell off a building, and broke his shoulder, has been in Minster Hospital, was discharged about a month since ; he is 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, whiskers and moustache ; dressei in a dark cloth coat, grey vest, white canvas trousers, and soft black felt hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Dennis, Guestling, Hastings, or to Sergeant Beck, Silverhill, St. Leonards, Hastings.— Bow- itreet, October 15. The Horse, Oart, Harness, & c., advertised in Police Gazette of 11th instant, have been recovered, and 3 men are remanded at Tunbridge Wells, until 11 a m., 18th instant, on a charge of stealing the same :— one gave the name of GEORGE SIMPSON, refuses his address, 31 years of age, 5 feet 7 ins high, dark hair, tuft on chin ; says he is a dealer, and attends sales. Another, PATRICK DOWNEY, or DAVIS, of 4, Russell- court, Catherine- street, Strand, 30 years of age, 5 feet 74 inches high, broad face; a pugilist and lithographic printer. The other CHARLES SEATON, of Handel House, Peckham Rye, 18 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, thin, fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair ; a jeweller. Another man is wanted for being concerned in the felony, and a warrant is issued for his arrest:— he is known as PERKINS, attends races, carries a sachel, with ' Perkins the walking man * on it, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very stout built, full face, thick bushy whiskers and moustache, inclined to be carroty, chin shaven; dressed in black frock coat, black silk hat. Information to the Head Constable, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, October 15. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Emborough, Somerset, charged with stealing on 9th instant 4 Ducks ( recovered) :— GEORGE FORD, labourer, from 22 to 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, sandy hair, very small ( if any) light whiskers ; supposed dressed in black soft bowler hat, black jacket, dark vest, speckled cloth trousers, and heavy lace- up boots. Information to Mr Supt. Emson, Somerset Constabu- lary, Temple Cloud, near Bristol, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 20. Charged with larceny, as a bailee of Monies, a man for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued : ABE LEVI, alias GOODY LEVI, of 1, Bassein Park- road, Shepherds - Bush, Loudor, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, well built, and inclined to be stout, of Jewish appearance, dark curly hair, black moustache, tinged with grey, no whiskers ; is well known at race meetings, and about London. Information to Mr. Supt. Benson, Newmarket.— Bow- street, October 20. Description of ROBERT WILLIAMS, charged at Rhyl> with larceny about 17 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark eyes and hair ; is a native of Denbigh, and was apprenticed to a plumber and painter. Information to Inspector McLaren, Rhyl, or to Mr. Supt. Hughes, Holy- well, Flintshire.— Bow- street, October 20. Stolen from an hotel at Savilltown, on 17th instant:— a gold lever Watch, white dial, black figures ; a gold Guard, twisted links; a pair of Trousers ; and a blue cloth Vest. May have been taken away by a man « ho stayed the previous night in the house, about 5 feet 4 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, heavy brown moustache ; dressed in black cloth coat, and black billycock hat. Information at Superin- tendent's Office, Dewsbury, Yorkshire — Boiv- street, October 20 Stolen between l- 30 and 5' 30 p. m. 15th instant, at Hare- holme :— a Half- sovereign and 2d. in Copper. Supposed by a man ( who was left in the house between 3 and 4 p. m. on the above date), about 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 or' 6 inches high, slender build, light complexion, rather long features, light brown short curly hair; dressed in black cloth coat, vest, corduroy trousers, clogs, and old cap; has worked in Burnley as a drawer in a coal pit. Information at County Police Office, Bacup, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 20. Stolen in Hastings, on 15th instant :— a lady's long gold watch Chain, thick link pattern ; a pair of gold Eyeglasses'; a gold cluster diamond Ring ; a lady's gold half- hoop Ring, with turquoise; a gold Brooch, set with pearls, ' Catherine Shaip, died 1853, aged 72,' on back ; a lady's small go. d open- face Watch, maker Weller Nicholls, Croydon, Frances Alwen Thrate, from her father, June 26th 1853,' engraved on back ; and a pair of small gold Earrings, with small diamond in the centre. By a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 iuches high, dark hair, small dark moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in a black coat, and black felt hat. Was seen in one of the houses where a larceny was committed, and can be identified. Iiiformation to Chief Supt. Glenister, Hastings, Sussex.— Bow- » t., October 20. Stolen at Gorton between 4 and 5 a. m., on 15th instant : — a silver lever W « tch, gold hinges and hands, had attached a steel Albert Guard, curb pattern ; also a brown leather Purse, containing £ 4 in Gold and Silver. Supposed by a youth, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fresh com- plexion, red hair, cut mark over right eye ; dressed iu a grey mixture cloth suit, and black billycock hat. He has been convicted of felony, and has just finished serving 7 days for vagrancy, he is well known to the police at Gorton. Infor- mation at the County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester. — Bow- street, October 18. Absconded on 15th instant, charged with stealing 9s., a blue, green and black plaid woollen Shawl, and a Bm. ill satchel bag :— a woman about 53 or 54 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, rather Btoutly built, brown hair turning grey ; dressed in a black jacket, black serge dress, another dress or skirt underneath, the top part black, the lower part flounces of a light colour, supposed drab, black straw hat, mushroom shape, and may be wearing the stolen Shawl. She is a begging- letter imposter, representing herself to be a captain's widow and a Freemason; has in her possession a letter, referring to the certificate of her husband's death, also one from a Freemasons' Lodge in London ; she makes a practice of calling at gentlemen's houses, soliciting subscrip- tions to enable her tovfibiain forms, which she states she requires from the Freemasons as a Freemason's widow.
