The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. Tht Names of Accomplice* and Accettoriet, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. A Description, as accurate as possible, cf Property that has been stolen, and a minute Description of Stolen Horse* for the purpose of tracing and recovering them. No. 6521 MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1880 Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may hear tlie Sljniiture of the person req uiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may he made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. *#* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, cf the Offence charged, and aii attested copy thereof, together with {. be advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the rOLIOE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and • f Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly t—( 1) The amount of ti e reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by the persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the propel ty, without the apprehension of the offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." Committed for trial at the next Assizes for Bridgend • charged with Manslaughter :— THOMAS WILBERFORCE otherwise ' Professor Wilberfor. e,' a quack doctor, 40 years of ace, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, brown vyee ; states that he is a native of Leicester, and that he is travelling through the couutry, staying a few months at different towns. He is supposed to have been couvicted at, Birmingham in the name ot THOMAS FALLAR, and sen tenced to 14 years penal servitude, and while a convict to have gone out iu a ship called ' Warwick' from Portland or Chatham to Gibraltar iu 1868, and returned to Chatham in 1874, and engaged at the hospital there, supposed discharged in October or November, 1879. A pair of gold French Ear- rings, with blue and pink stones or enamel. Two open- work gold shirt Studs, with pearl in centre. A gilt Stand, for two scent bottles. A pair of Field Glasses, in black frames. A well coloured meerschaum Pipe, with straight stem, massive amber mouthpiece, silver ferrule, and in dark coloured case. A lady's light grey corded silk Dress, with long skirt, two or three flounces round the bottom, the body, and polonaise all in one piece, satin trimming down down the front, 26 or 27 inches round the waist, and had a grey fringe round the polonaise. Camberley, Frimley ;— a silver Snuff- box, with a long inscrip- tion, including ' Presented to the Honorable Charles Osborne, by the Corporation of Dublin'; also several Indian ivory Ornaments, including a waggon drawn by bullocks. Between 1 a. m. and 7 30 a. m. on 14th iustant, a grocers shop, at Aston, was broken aud entered and stolen thereiu : — 5 cads of scented caper Tea, 28ib. each ; a double breasted Overcoat,, black corded cloth, lined with grey lining, nearly new ; 2 pair of men's elastic- side Boots, receutly been soled aud heeled ; and a cash Box, containing Bills, & c. Stolen during the night of 11th instant, from a dwelling house, by breaking the window on the ground floor :- a large gilt Clock, a man on horseback supports the clock. During the night of 12th instant, a shoemakers shop at Fenny Stratford, was broken aud entered aud stolen there- from :— a pair of boy's lace- up Boots, new, heavy nails iu soles, and tipped and heeled, No. 2 size ; and a pair of woman's leather Slippers, lined with light material inside, the property of Seba Young, of Fenny Stratford, shoemaker. The following is a correct list of Articles stolen from the dwelling- hoUse at Ayleston Park, near Leicester, during the night of 1st instant, advertised in Police Gazette of 8th instant : — A small silver Tea Service, consisting of Teapot, with ivory handles, slightly discoloured, Cream- jug. Sugar- b ism. with two silver handles, aud a pair of sugar Tongs, all marked ' L. N.' A chased Chatelain, in shape of shield, with three g) ll chains attached. A gold band Bracelet, set with five stones, consisting of HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. The thorough bred Mare, reported a3 stolen at Carlton, Beds, aud advertised in the Police Gazette of 15th instant, has been recovered.— Bm- strmt, Odder 18. Stolen from a field at Lullingstone, on 30th ultimo :— a Heifer or Steer, about 18 months old, ' W. M.' brauded on horns, clipped iu left ear, brown or brown and white colour. Information to Mr. Supt. Fread, Kent Constabulary, Darford. — Bow- street, October 15. Stolen on 13th instant, from a field at Monkland :— 10 fat ewe Sheep, nearly all black- faced, and marked with the letters 1 W. Remanded till 16th instant, charged with stealing \ Horse and Cart :— JOHN HURLEY, a tramping Irishman, states he has been a soldier in 102nd Regiment 12 years, has been disch < rged about 4 years, had been working at Sheerness, at bricklaying, where he fell off a building, and broke his shoulder, has been in Minster Hospital, was discharged about a month since ; be is 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, whiskers and moustache ; dresse in a dark cloth coat, grey vest, white canvas trousers, and soft black felt hat. Dennis, Guestling, Hastings, or to Sergeant Beck, Silveiliill, St. Leonards, Hastings.— Bow- slrect, October 15. red one round it. in centre, and four aquamarine stones The Horse, Cart, Harness, & c., advertised in Police Gazette of lltli instant, have been recovered, and 3 raeu arc lemanded at Tunbridge Wells, until 11a m., 18th instant., on a charge of stealing the tame :— one gave the i. ame of GEORGE SIMPSON, refuses his address, 31 years of age, 5 feet 7 ins. high, dark hair, tuft on chin ; says ho is a dealer, and attinds sales. Another, PATRICK DOWNEY, or DAVIS, of 4, Russell- court, Catherine- street, Strand, 30 yi ais of pge, 5 feet 7i inches high, broad face; a pugilist and lithographic printer." The other CHARLES SEATON, of Handel House, Peckham Rye, 18 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, thin, fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair ; a jeweller. Another man is wanted for being concerned iu the felony, and a warrant is issued for his arrest;— he is known as PiCllKlNS, attends races, carries a sachel, with ' Peikins the walking man' on it, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very stout built, full face, thick bushy whiskeis and moustache, inclined to be carroty, chiu shaven ; dressed in blaok frock coat, black siik hat. Stolen from a field at Eltham :— a dark chestnut Mare, aged, 15 hands, capped hocks, small white star on forehead, no shoes, in good condition. Taken in the direction of Chislehurst. October 18 Stolen from a Public House, in Leicester, on 6tli instant a Horse and Trap :- by a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light complexion ; and wearing a light mackintosh. The horse is a light grey, 16 hands high, thick fetlock oa near high leg, both hind legs have been fired, chafed under saddle; oak coloured sparkenhoe Trap, with square • wings, and square body, and brass caps, with ' Hill Melton' on them; set of brass mounted Harness" leather inside for pads; Whip with brass ferules. Information to Chief Constable Farndale, Leicester.— Bow street, October 13. Stolen from a field at Eascott, Swindon, on the night of 5th instant:— 3 black Kerry fat Heifers, 2 scissors marks on the off hip. Information to Mr. Supt. North, Swindon.— Bow- street, October 13. Stolen at Gorton between 4 and 5 a. m., on 15th instant: — a silver lever W tch, gold tiiuges and hands, had attached a steel Albert Guard, curb pattern; also a brown leather Purse, containing £ i in Gold and Silver. Supposed by a youth, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fresh com- plexion, red hair, cut mark over right eye ; dressed in a grey mixture cloth suit, and black billycock hat. He has been convicted of felony, and has just finished serving 7 days for vagrancy, he is well known to the police at Gorton. Infor- mation. at the County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester. — Bow- street, October 18. Absconded on 15th instant, charged with stealing 9s., a blue, green and bl* ck plaid woollen Shawl, and a small satchel Bag :— a womau about 53 or 54 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, rather stoutly built, brown hair turning grey ; dressed in a black jacket, black serge dress, another dress or skirt underneath, the top part black, the lower part flounces of a light colour, supposed drab, black straw hat, mushroom shape, and may be wearing the stolen Shawl. She is a begging- letter imposter, representing herself to be a captain's widow and a Freemason ; has iu her possession letter, referring to the certificate of her husband's death, also one [ from a Freemasons' Lodge in London ; she makea_ a practice of calling at gentlemen's houses, soliciting subscrip- tions to enable her to obtain forma, which she states she requires from the Freemasons as a Freemason's widow. When she left Pontefract she booked for Doncaster, and inquired the best way to get to Newcastle. Information to Mr. Supt. Fearnside, Towu Hall, Pontcfract, Yorkshire. — Bow street, Qcober 19, / Charged with larceny of three pints of Whiskey, at Stafford, on 15th instant:— CHARLES MORGAN, 32 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, ( luk brown hair° whiskers, and moustache, dark eyes, medium build; dressed in dark cloth jacket and trousers, brown overcoat, much worn, and black hard sammy hat; a cellarman in wine stores. Information to D puty Chief Constable Oswell, The Green, or to Inspector Chaplain, Guildhall, Stafford, who holds a warraut for his apprehension.— How- street, October 18. Description of RICHARD STYLES, a native of Guildtord, journeyman butcher, charged on warrant with em- bezzleing Monies, the property of his employer :— ibout 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slender made, daik complexion, small features, small daik whiskers and mous- tache ; has a brother now serving on board H. M. S. Crocodile, an4 one; in the Royal Marine Artillery, j » ay en- deavour to get employed on board ship, as a butcher. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Stolen ftom a lodging house, in Bridgnorth, on 12th instant:— a pair of man's nearly new lace- up Boots, No. 9 size, small nails round t. ie foreparts, and tips on heels. By a tramp who lodged iu the house, and left his old ones behind, and is now wearing the new ones ; he is from 45 to 00 years of age, ab.. ut 5 feet 6 or 7 mche3 high, very dirt) appearance, with moustache, no whiskers, and very sore eyes ; dris- ed in dark grey cloth jacket, cord trousers, soft billy hat, with black Wanted on charge of stealing .£ 13 in Gold, from a lodging- house at, jPenygroes, ou 30th ultimo :— PATRICK CHAS CAVANNAGH, alias RUSSELL, alias CAVEN- DISH, 39 years of age, 5 feet 3£ inches high, sallow com- plexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scars on forehead and over nose, blue cut left eyebrow, scar on left leg, when last seen had shaved off beard ; dtessed iu light, tweed coat, brown clo* h trousers; a groom, born at Galway Served 5 years military training. Has been convicted several times for larceny. Tramped through Wales. Buys and sells old horses. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Prothoro, Carnarvon.— Bow- street, October 15. Stolen on 30th ultimo, from 39th Depot Brigade Barracks, Dorchester:— a monkey Jacket; a pair of black cloth Trousers ; a black hard Hat. Supposed by a man 23 years of age, 5 feet 7i inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes; may be wearing stolen articles. Information to Head Constable Coward, Borough Police Station, Guildhall, Dorchester, Dorset.— Bow- street, October 15. Absconded from Chipping Norton, charged on warrant with embezzlement;— ALFRED WILLIAM, a travelling draper, about 31 yeais of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark com- plexion, brown eyes, and black hair ; his wife resides at Caproid Cottage, Magdalene- road, Oxford ; he is well known at Bridgewater, where his mother- iu- law kept a publicbouse ; has also a brother living at Swindon, Wilts, who is a book- hawker. Information to Mr. Supt. Lakin, Chipping Norton, Oxou, who holds the warrant | for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 15 Stolen at Tunbridge Wells on 12th instant :— a plain gold Ring, with ' Mizpah' on it; and a silver Pencil Case. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stoutish build, dark complexion, beard shaved off, slight moustache ; dressed in blue jacket, black trousers, and black round hat. Said he had been living in the City, and was an invalid. He hired apartments on 11th instant, and on 12th tried to borrow money from the landlady to pay for his luggage at the railway station, he having only a cheque ; not succeeding, he left, saying he would be back to dinner, but did not return, and after his departure it was found that he had stolen the above- mentioned articles. Information to the Head Constable, Tuubridge Wells, Kent,— Bow- street, October 15. Stolen between 4th and 6th instant, from Weedon Barracks .- — three Sovereigns, and 28s. in Silver; a finger Ring, set with three diamonds ; also a silver Geneva Watch, which has part of the hour hand broken off, and the word ' Exhibition, 1861' on the face, No. supposed 479. Supposed by a man who has been in the 6th Regiment of Foot, and who deserted from the above Barracks on 4th instant:— lie is 24 years of age, 5 feet 8i inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes ; dressed iu regimentals, and grey great coat ; has been a ship's cook. Information to Mr. Supt. Barwell, Police Office, Daventry, Northamptonshire.— Boia- stnet, October 13.
