Information at County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.— Bow- st., Sept. 17. Description of two navvies, charged with violently and indecently assaulting a female, in St. Albans, on 11th instant, and stealing a white Pocket handkerchief, marked ' Hanley.' Both are about 34 years of age, one about 5 feet 9 inches high, the other about 5 feet 6 inches high, and stoutly built; both dressed in light long fustian coats. They can be iden- tified. Information to Mr. Supeiintendent Pike, Police Office, St. Albans, Hertfordshire.— Bow- street, Septcniber 15. Stolen from the person, at the Alton Towers Flower Show :— a gold Watch, enamelled face, seconds hands, No, 26,877, a gold albert Chain attached, on chain was a gold Seal, horse and greyhound cut on the stone of seal; on the dome of watch is engraved, ' Presented to Mr. William Fiander, by the Brewers and licensed Victuallers of Netherton, for his honourable conduct during 17 years'— dated, 21st November, 1872. Stolen from the person, at Chesterton, about 1 a. m. on 12th instant :— a silver lever Watch with silver dial and gold figures, large size, No. 50284, aud maker's name ' F. Skerratt, Newcastle,' engraved on works. Information to Sergeant Locker, Chesterton, Staffordshire.— Bow- st, September 15. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or Btolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may bo made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. INFORMATIONS. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Description of a man who gives the name of GEORGE WILSON, states that he is a native of Hard wick, Manchester, a tiamping blacksmith, remanded till 28th inst., on a charge of setting fire to a Hay Stack :— he is 32 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, sunburnt complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, grey eyes, large nose, long and narrow face, and lost end of right thumb to first joint; dressed in old dark grey jacket, grey twill vest, cord trousers, grey cloth cap, and red plaid scarf. States that he has been tramping the country for the last three years, and that he was sentenced to two months imprisonment at Peinstone, Yorkshire, for vagrancy, and was released from Wakefield Prison on 21st May last. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Checketts, County Police Office, Worcester.— Bow- street, September 22. Absconded on 11th instant, from 39, King Henry's- road, Hampstead, charged with arson :— a woman, 42 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, rather dark complexion, hair turning grey, medium forehead, nose rather long and red at tip, and ordinary mouth and chin ; dressed in dark blue cloth ( light blue silk stripe round), crape bonnet. May be found at Henley- on- Thames. Information to the Director, C. I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, Sept. 15. of silver sugar Tongs, one pair plain pattern, marked ' S.', other fancy pattern ; two silver tea Spoons, marked ' S.'; an electro- plated sugar Sifter; an electro- plated sugar Spoon, plain handle, chased bottom, and marked ' S.'; and 2s. in Honey, consisting of small Silver and Coppers. A reward of £ 10 will be paid to any person who shall give such informa- tion as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the property. Daunt, Constabulary Office, Colchester, Essex.— Bow- street, September 15. Wanted on two charges of burglary :— CHARLES CAIN, deserter from 23rd Regiment of Foot, Wrexham, 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers or moustache, dark brown hair, sore grey eyebrows, for which he has been under medical treatment, front teeth decayed, tattooed on both arms, hart on right arm, born at Abergavenny ; supposed dressed in a black cloth surtout coat, or brown summer overcoat, and elastic- side Oxford shoes, recently soled. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Wilde, Wrexham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, Sept. 15. dressed in a snuff- coloured suit of clothes; WILLIAM ARMSTRONG, late of Erasmus- road, Sparkbrook, Birming- ham, 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, and slightly built; dressed in black or dark suit of clothes. Jones is a married man, and is supposed to have removed to some other town, and will probably carry on his trade of scrap dealer. Information to Mr. Supt. Yardley, Solihull, Warwickshire, who hOLDS a warrant for their apprehension— Bow- street, Sept. 17r Description of a horse Pony aud a business Cart ( sup- posed stolen), left at Hertford on 3rd instant:— by a man between 40 and 50 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in light clothes, and hard felt hat; he left a dark grey ovorcoat aud straw hat; in the pockets of the coat was a billhead with the name of ' William Allcock, wine and spirit merchant, Commercial and Family Hotel, High- street, Seven- oaks,' printed on it; also a bottie with a printed label,' E. Miller, dispensing chemist, 4, Donegal- place, Lower Clapton, E.' The Cart is painted with a dark colour, picked out with red, bent shafts, no name on caps, and two dark American cloth cushions. The Horse is dark brown, 5 years old, about 12 hands high, long mane and tail, and star on forehead, plated Harness and rush Collar; a leather Collar and a long Whip were left in the trap. The man has not been heard of in Hertford since he left. Information to Head Constable Jarrett, Borough Police, Hertford.— Bow- street, September 17. Supposed stolen from a field, at Sheepwalk Farm, Onecot, near Leek, between 9 p. m. 3rd, and 5. a. m. 4th instant:— a small black Welsh Cow, about 6 years odd, little white on face, one horn turns up, and the other turns down, in calf, and in good condition, value £ 12. Information to Mr. Supt. Williams, Police Office, Leek, Staffordshire.— Bew- itreet, September 15. The Horse and Trap, & c., stolen from Brougham Rectory Farm, Westmoreland, during the night of 13th July last, and advertised in Police Gazette of 27th ultimo, have been recovered by the Warrington Police, and WILLIAM SMITH, alias RUSFORTH, and his brother THOMAS GIBSON SMITH, apprehended, since committed for trial at the next Westmoreland Quarter Sessions for stealing the same. Between the 14th July last and 28th ultimo, the Horse has had four new shoes put on, the hind shoes are stamped on the outside close to the heel ' J. Conde,' who is supposed to be a black- smith either in Lancashire or Cheshire. It is important to have this traced for the purpose of identification. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Spencer, Appleby, Westmorland, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, September 15. Stolen from a field at Audenshaw, near Ashton- under- Lyne, between 5.30 p. m. 31st ultimo, and 6 a. m. 1st inst. :— a light bay part bred cart Mare, rising 5 years old, 15 J hands high, small white mark in centre of forehead, black mane, tail and legs, clear legs, but large feet, higher on hind than on fore quarters, light coloured muzzle, in good working condition. £ 5 reward. The above reward will be paid upon recovery and conviction of the thieves, if stolen. Information to Mr. Supt. Myers, County Police Office, Hurst, near Ashton- under- Lyne.— Bow- street, September 15. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from a stable, at Stainsacre, between 7 p. m. on 19th and 6 a. m. on 20th instant, a drab diagonal cloth Jacket, velvet collar, lined with plaid horse sheeting, and trimmed with dark bone buttons, new, pocket in each lap outside and one inside left lap; also a woollen cord Vest, partly worn, double- breasted, fastens with two white bone buttons, the rest are off, pockets with flaps outside and one pocket inside. Supposed by a man who had been harvesting at the farm, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair com- plexion, light brown hair and beard, about a fortnight's growth, has recently had all his hair cut off, and rather thin features ; dressed in a pair of cotton cord trousers, brown canvas jumper, black cap, and may be wearing the stolen coat and vest. Stated he was a native of Dover, and had recently been engaged fishing at Yarmouth. She is accompanied by a man named William Taylor, about 36 years of age, 5 feet inches high, and light complexion and hair; dressed in hairy cap, turned up and tied in front, old grey mixture jacket, moleskin trousers and vest, and lace- up boots. She was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude on 6th January, 1874, at Staffordshire General Quarter Sessions for felony. Information to Chief Supt. MARY BROWN, alias ISABELLA BROWN, and ANN JONES, 40 years of age, 5 feet 6i inches high, sallow com- plexion, black hair, dark brown eyes, small cut on right wrist, lost top tooth. Was convicted of felony, after previous conviction, at Salford, 5th July, 1875, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and 7 years police supervision. Discharged 8th April, 1880. JOSEPH GIBBONS, 31 years of age, 5 feet 7f inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, face freckled, cut bridge of nose, end of left little finger gone, and double ruptured. Was convicted of larceny, at Liverpool, on October 28th, 1874, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude. Discharged May 26th, 1880. CATHERINE ROURKE, alias ROOKE, MURPHY, and WILLIAMS, 55 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches hign, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, lost several fiont teeth, cut centre of forehead and bridge of nose, scar on right wrist, moles above left wrist, above right elbow, and on right cheek. Was convicted on December 1st, 1870, at the Man- chester Assizes, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude, and 5 years poliie supervision, for uttering base coin. Liberated August 25th, 1880. JOHN FLANNAGAN, 27 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar bridge of nose and right arm, scar on left eyebrow, nail 3rd finger left hand split. Convicted at Salford Sessions on January 12th, 1874, for housebreaking at Bury, and liberated on June 30th, 1879. Sentence 7 years, and 7 years police supervision. GEORGE ASHLEY, 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, nose crooked, scar on each cheek and over left eyebrow, pockpitted ; a boatman. Was sentenced to 18 months' hard labour, and 7 years police supervision, for fowl stealing, ( at the Manchester Sessions, June 26th, 1875. ALFRED ROCKLIFFE, 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on right eyebrow and cheek, bum mark on chest, ' R. A. G.' on left wrist, ' R' enclosed in a wreath on left arm, sears on 1st and 2nd fingers left hand. Was convicted of shopbreaking at Manchester Sessions, March 11th, 1878, and sentenced to 15 months' hard labour, and 7 years police supervision. JAMES HANSON, 35 years of age, 5 feet 3* inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, much pock- marked, lost several teeth, wart back of neck, scar on each buttock, one on right and two on left leg. Was convicted of larceny, at Manchester, on May 26tli, 1873, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and 7 years police supervision. Liberated December 19th, 1878. JOHN DIXON, alias NIXON, 49 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes paralysis right arm and foot. JOHN OWEN, No. A 662, a convict on license, has failed to report himself at Stafford :— he is 48 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, stoutish, oval face, brown whiskers and moustache; marks— brown mark left side of hip, cut on chin, right cheek and right eyebrow, moles on left groin and left thigh, scar right thigh and right knee, several scars on back, two scars on head, and lost nearly all his teeth. Convicted of unlawfully wour d- ing at Stafford Assizes, 14th Sept., 1874, sentence 7 years penal servitude, and nine times summarily convicted. He is a native of Ironbridge, Salop, well known in Wolverhampton, Worcester, and Kidderminster, and a notorious poacher.
