Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending tho same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to tho Editor for insertion. As no chargo is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor mnst be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not bo mado. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and • f Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should he forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Found in the fore- court of 40, Vale- road, Ramsgate, on the evening of 27th instant:— a brown paper Parcel, con- taining the dead body of a newly- born female Child, wrapped iu a portion of the Kent Echo Newspaper of ' 17th September, 1880.' An inquest has been held, and a verdict returned of ' Wilful Murdei against some person or persons unknown.' Information to Head Constable Buss, Ramsgate, Kent.— Bow- street, August 30. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Scarborough Race Course, on 28th ultimo :— a silver lever Watch, No. 82430, centre second.", glass cracked, gold Albert Guard attached, curb pattern, with pendant, one side white the other dark. Information to Mr. Supt. Spence, North Riding Constabulary, Pickering, or to Inspector Dove, County Police Office, Falsgrave, Scarboro', Yorkshire.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen from the person at Preston, on night of 25th instant:— a silver lever Watch, white dial, gold hands, chronometer balance, makers Leatherland & Co., Liverpool, No. 1721, had attached a long silver Chain. £ 2 reward is offered. Information to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Borough Police Preston.— Bow- street, August 30. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Southfleet, during 28th instant:— an old fashioned verge Watch, maker Lowe, Dartford; a lady's small silver Watch, worked gold face, No. 21981 ; a gold keeper Ring ; 2 gold Brooches, one shape of a harp, the other has 3 small green stones, also 1 red and 1 white do.; a pair of gold Ear- rings ; a set of gold Studs ; and abont £ 5 in Money. Supposed by 3 young men, one dressed in red aud black striped guernsey ; one in brown coat ; the other cannot be described. Information to Mr. Supt. Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, August 30. During the night of 28th July last an attempt was made to enter the vicarage at Hardingstone, and GEORGE HARRIS, a tramp, was committed for trial on 31st ultimo, for the offence :— lie is 42 years of age, 5 f . et 10J inches high, dark brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, medium build ; dressed in a dark mixture tweed suit, very much worn, old light boots, aud bowler hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Williamson, Hazelwood- road, Northampton.— Bow- street August 30. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from Lovesome hill, near Brompton, on 19th instant:— a black cloth Coat, with velvet collar, bound with black braid, black covered buttons, and dark lining; a black cloth Vest, to match ; a pair of dark grey check tweed Trousers; a brown mixture tweed Suit; a pair of low Shoes, laced ; 4 pairs of grey worsted Stockings, have been darned and footed, all men's size, and half worn; a white aud red spotted bundle Ilandl erchief ; and a wash leather Purse, containing 14s. in Silver. Stolen from the rectory, at Stickney, between 12 p. m. on 26th and 6 a. m. on 27th instant :— 1 large old- fashioned cruet Stand, without bottom, would hold 7 bottles, crest on side — horse's head; 1 small silver cruet Stand, would hold 3 bottles, which were left and the silyer tops taken ; 4 large silver table Spoons, bead pattern, crest— horse's head ; dessert ditto ditto ; 1 large Gravy ditto ; 2 Egg ditto ; Tea ditto ; I sauce Ladle, ditto; 6 large silver Forks, crested as above ; 5 small ditto ditto ; 2 silver Sauce Boats, crested ; 1 ditto Teapot and Stand, crested ; 1 ditto old- fashioned Sugar Basin, crested ; 1 pair of silver Sugar Bows ; 1 electro- plated top of Claret Jug; 1 ditto Ice Bucket and Tongs with claws ; 1 ditto Top from large Mustard Pot; ditto, crested ; 1 ditto Cayenne Spoon with glass knob ; round electro- plated bed Candlestick and Extinguisher; 6 plated Fish Knives and Forks, ivory handles, stamped on blades ' J. P.'; about £ 7 in Gold, and £ 3 in Silver amongst which were a gord many Sixpences ; 1 small carpet Bag, very old and faded ; 1 blue pilot top Coat, nearly new, blue plaid lining, with black buttons, would fit a man 5 feet 4 or 5 inches, slight build. Whoever will give such informa- tion as to lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, shall, on conviction, receive £ 10 reward. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 10 and 12 a. m. 15th instant, at Basford, Stoke- on- Trent :— a lady's gold Geneva Watch, No. 42G4, maker ' Steer, Derby'; 12 silver tea Spoons, marked ' B.' ou top, and star ou under side ; a gentleman's gold Ring, 18 carat, with a stone in which is a small hole on one side ; and about £ 7 10s. in Gold and Silver Money. Stolen from an unoccupied house, during the morning of 24th instapt, by means of housebreaking :— a large size stewart tartan Shawl, in good condition. Information to the Chief Constable^ Central Police Station, Newcastle- on- Tyne.— Bow- street, Auaust 27. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Lillingtop, between land 2p. m. 24th instant:— a very small chamber Candle- stick, silver, with extinguisher, stamped ' T. l >.'; an Inkstand, about 8 inches long by about 5 inches wide, with two grooves for pens and fitted with two round glass ink Bottles with silver or electro- plated tops, the stand is flat, standing on four small chased feet, crest— a lion rampant holding an hour glass, with motto ' Fugit Hora,' at present it is not known if the stand is silver or electro- plate. Information to Mr. Supt. Frankton, Kenilworth, or Inspector Hannah, Milverton, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, August 27. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from Othery, on the night of 29 th ultimo ;— a dark iron grey Horse, 5 years old, 15J hands high, white star in forehead, both hind feet white, saddle marks on both sides, collar mark' on the shoulder, value about £ 30. Supposed by some low horse dealers who were seen in the neighbourhood on the evening of 29th ultimo, and are supposed to be making their way to some fair in the upper Counties. Information to Mr. Supt. Jeffs, North Petherton, Somersetshire.- Bow- street, September 1. Iu custody at Worcester, on suspicion of having stolen a very dark chestnut ( nearly brown) Mare, 6 years old, 14 hands high, with long tail, hollow back, large belly, and ' J. B.' marked on near fore hoof; and a roan Foal, with white mark on nose :— a nop, about 35 years of age, 5 " feet 7i inches high, black h'air, siiftall black whiskers, florid : om- plexion, ov. i marks on ear) do. on forehead. On him was found a police supervision paper in the name of THOMAS HAWKER, issued by the Governor of H. M. Prison, Gloucester, supervision commencing January 1, 1880, and ending December 31, 1881. Information to Detective Phillips, City Policc, Worcester.— Bow- street, September 1. Absconded on 14lh instant, charged with stealing a brown Pony, 12 hands high, switch tail, sore withers; and a blue village Cart, picked out white, ' Edward Birdeck, 68, Grove Road, H. Y.' thereon, containing a white waterproof Coat, and a Whip:— EDWARD SKAKESPEARE, or SHAKESPEARE, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion and hair ; dressed in dark clothes, a native of Culham, Berks. Warrant issued. Information to the Director, C. I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, August 30. Stolen from Plas teg near Mold, on 23rd instant:— 2 Bullocks, rising 2 years old, one red, one red and white; also a red and white heifer, rising 3 years old. Information to Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, Aug. 30. Stolen from a field at Marston Green, on the morning of 25tli instant:— a blue roan Gelding, about 13 hands high, black legs, aud dark nose. A young man wearing dark clothes was seen to fetch it from the field, lie was afterwards joined by two other youths, and all went off in the direction of Birmingham. Information to Mr. Supt. Yardley, Solihull, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, August 27. The two men, charged with stealing the Horse, Cart, and Harness, on the night of 13th ultimo, from Brougham Rectory Farm, Westmorland, were traced to Burton- in- Kendal and Skerton, near Lancaster, on the afternoon of 14th ultimo; they may have gone acrjss country into Yorkshire or Lanca- shire, Manchester or Liverpool, or other large towns. Tho Horse is a light bay half- bred gelding, 3 years old, about 14$ hands high, white star on face, white bind feet, and short tail, value £ 35 ; a black set of brass- mounted Harness, been in use about 3 years, never repaired ; a new Whitechapel Cart, country made, painted black with red and blufe lines, has a broken spoke wrapped round with tar twine, and old cushions covered with dark American leather. Supposed by two men, one dressed in dark clothes, aud the other in grey. A Horse aud Trap, answering the description of the above described, was seen at Shap, at 4 a. m. on 14th ultimo, going south. Supposed by two men, lit. a tall man, wearing a white jacket, and shauty hat ; the other a short man ; wearing dark clothes, and shauty hat ; aud had the appearance of Mechanics. Information to Mr. Supt. Simpson, Epping, or Inspector Robinson, Police Station, Chipping Ongar, Essex, — Bow- street, August 57. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from a van at Brownlands, Kirkpatrick Juxta' about 12 noon, 27th ultimo :— a man's brown grey Shooting Coat, pockets in skirts, one inside and one outside left breast, ticket do. on right side, brown composition buttons, two or three on each sleeve, lined in body with dark winsey, sleeves with white cotton, ' Irvine Bell and Sons' ou tab at neck, nearly hew; a pair of man's elastic- side Boots, plain soles, row of nails rouud outside of heels, nearly new ; a pair of man's Shetland grey Socks, worn. Supposed ty a man, 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 iuches high, slender make, reddish hair an4 whiskers, aud walks lame ; dressed in long dark coat and cap, and likely to be wearing the stolen pro- perty. Information to Chief Constable Danily, Newtown, or PC. Humphreys, Cemmes, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, September 1. Description of a man who gave the name of JOHN JACKSON, watch and clock cleaner, wanted on warrant for larceny as bailee, at Knottingley :— about 52 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, sallow complexion, light brown hair, turning grey, tuft of hair on chin, and slender built; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, light brown trousers, dark blue overcoat, billycock hat, and lace- up boots ; was seen on 16th July, getting out of the 5 p. m. train from Leeds at Ardsley Station. Information to Mr. Supt. Whincup, West Riding Constabulary, Pontefract.— Bow- street, Sept. 1 Charged with stealing a number of Watches :— MORRIS CLYNES, or KLINES, 20 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, medium build, black curly hair, full face ; dressed in black worst ed suit, black billycock hat ; is a tailor by trade, and a Wanted at Brierly Hill on warrant, charged with larceny as bailee on 12th June last:— RICHARD COLLEY, about 40 years of age, 5 feet!) or 10 inches high, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, thick black whiskers and moustache, dark eyes, medium build ; a carpenter and joiner, and native of Kingswinford, married ; dressed in a drab cloth jacket, dark grey trousers and vest, and drab round soft hat with narrow brim. Information to Mr. Supt. Woollaston, Police Office, Brierley Hill, Staffordshire, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 30. Stolen between 1 and 2p. m. on 20th instant, from a jeweller's shop at Tunbridge. Wells :— a small black Tray, containing 3 plain coloured gold Lockets, different sizes; 1 secret link albert Chain and key Drop ; 1 Belcher Chain ; a lady's second- hand^' gold Watch, gold dial, maker Braby ; 1 silver Geneva Watch, small face, antique ligures ; 1 new silver Geneva Watch, crystal glass, registered ; 4 gold Napoleons ; 1 ten franc Piece ; 5 francs in Silver j 1 pair coloured earring Wires ; and 9 pairs of bright gold do. By a ( recovered) from Bachelor's Furniture " Warehouse, Broad Green, Croydon, in January last: — CHRISTOPHER CARROLL, a clerk, 40 years of age, 6 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, brown liair, heavy moustache, no whiskers ; dressed iu blue serge suit, round felt hat; speaks French well; American accent; is well known at Brighton, where he has relatives; and is supposed to be now employed in accom- panying tourists from this country to the continent as guide and interpreter. Warrant issued. Information to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— — Metropolitan Police, August 27. German by birth, but speaks English well. Information to Central Police Office, Leeds.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen on 30th ultimo, from George Gill, at Staithes :— a blue small ribbed cloth Coat, with black velvet collar, 2 pockets outside hips, 1 inside and 1 outside breast, has been ropaired on oue sleeve, partly worn. Supposed by a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, supposed brown or sandy whiskers; dressed in stolen coat, moleskin trousers, and lace- up boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire.— Bow- strec,! Siptcmhcr 1. Description of JOHN WILSON, alias BENJAMIN TUPONAN, remanded until 6th instant, at Saint Asaph, on a charge of stealing a Shirt I— ho is about 38 years of age. 5 feet 8$ inches high, ruddy complexion, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, proportionate build, round face, scar on chest, scar on right temple, cut on the back of the second finger of thp left hand j dressed in a hard black felt hat, narrow brim, black tweed coat, brown striped tweed vest and trousers, and lace- up boots; states he is a native of Rotherham, that he o weeks since left his wife and four children at Manchester, he appears to know all parts of England, has been travelling the country sharpening i a. vs ; was on 29th June, at Bangor, Carnarvonshire, senterced to 7 days li. 1., for stealing a Coat. Information to Mr. Supt. Hughes, Police Office, Holywell, Flintshire.— Bow- street, September 1. Stoleu from a tailor's shop at Prestwich, between 11 a. m. anil 12 noon, 27th instant:— a black cloth ribbed Coat, bound • with black silk braid, two pockets outside with flaps, nearly new ; and a black ribbed cloth Vest, two pockets on left side and one ou right do., nearly new. Supposed by two men :— one aboutr 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, slender build, and no whiskers ; dressed iu ( lark clothes and black billycock hat; the other about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, aud sandy hair ; dressed in dark monkey jacket, brown cloth trousers, and billycock hat. Information to County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Auqust 30, Stolen on the morning of 25th instant, from New Bradwen; Bucks :— a brown beaver Coat, and an old pair cased silver Watch. By two men who lodged iu the house for three nights previous :— one about 25 yean of age, 5 feet ,8 inches high ; dressed in black coat, striped vest, and mole- skin trousers, and is very bow legged ; the other about 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in black coat and vest, and cord trousers, split at right knee, the little finger on right hand deformed, one is an iron striker, aud the other an engine fitter ; stated that they had been working in the London and North Western Railway Works at Birming- ham ; they sold the things the same day at Buckingham, and took train to Yerney Junction, at which place they asked the • way to Oxford, Swindon, and Bristol, and most likely will be found working or seeking employment in some of the large works. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hedley, Penny Stratford, or to Inspector Moore, Newport Pagnell, Bucks.— Low- street, August 30. Wanted charged on a warrant, with embezzlement: — JOSEPH WYKES, late of Grove Villas, Wanstead, and 5, Suiters Ilall court, City, 44 years of age, looks younger, 5 ft. 9 c* r 10 inches high, reddish hair, board and complexion, walks very uptight ; dresses well, in black frock coat, light trousers, and black hat. Information to Inspector McWilliam Detective Department, City Police, Old Jewery.- Bow- street August 30. Stolen from a dwelling- house between 1' 30 and 2 30 p. m. on 26th instant:— a gold Geneva Watch, No. 1271, has f mazeppa, surrounded by forget- me- nots engraved on the back, and glass broken ; a gold Chain, with Seal and Key attached; a gold Necklet and Locket, with photo of a girl inside ; a pair of plain gold Ear- rings, aud Brooch to match : a, pair of gold Ear- rings, with blue stones ; a silver Ear- ring filigree work ; a diamond Ring, with 5 stones ; and a plain gold Keeper. By a man, from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet H or 9 inches high, Blight build, dark complexion ; dressed in black suit, and high hat, and carried a light polished cane. Information to Head Constable Buss, Ramsgate, Kent.— Bow street, Augu, it 30. THOMAS KING, charged on a warrant with stealing 9th instant; 19a. from his lodgings, at Wyrley, and — plsxion, full face dark brown hair, no whiskerstor dressed in a black ribbed suit, white shirt,• blue; andjhite tie, hard felt hat. and hce- up boots. Information to the IIC, iv. u --- Head Constable, Tunbridge ' Veils, Kent.— Bo'n- ft., August 30. Wanted on a warrant for embezzlement :— WILLIAM HUGHES, late of Faversham, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, hazel eyes, black hair, whiskers, and small moustache, high cheek bones, speaks quickly; dressed in dark clothes, aud bowler hat. Was invalided from the 12th Regiment of Foot about two years ago, and is likely to endeavour to re- enlist. Information to Head Constable Breary, Faveraham, Kent.— Bow- street, August 27.
