Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in tho POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor uauftt be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Information to Mr. Supt. Head, Oxford. Bow- street, Aug. 18. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of a woman, supposed to have placed a female child about 3 months of age, iu a pond at Glen Parva, near Leicester, about mid day on 17th instant about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 iuches high, dark complexion and hair, broad features, and rather inclined to stoutness; dressed as a respectable servant girl, in dark straw hat, dark dress, and black jacket, was carrying a brown paper parcel and black bag, a shirt the child was wearing is marked ' W' in marking ink, has also a small mark iu rod cotton ; the woman has been traced from Leicester, along the Saffron Lane, to where the child was found, aud from there to Broughton Astley, where she took the train to Rugby, at 4 55 p. m. that day. Description of JOSHUA SISSON, a watchmaker, warded at Bolton, under 2 wairauts for feloniously putting off 2 forged Bills of Exchange, for £ 31 10s. on 12th April, and 28th May, 1880 :— he is about 37 yrs. of age, 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins. high, medium build, sallow complexion, light brown hair, light coloured whiskers aud beard, and supposed moustache, walks quick and very erect, usually ; dressed in black cloth coat, aud vest, mixture trousers, and black hard billycock hat; he formerly kept a jeweller's shop, in Bolton, and may seek employment aa a watchmaker, or may emigrate. Stolen from the person, at the Shrewsbury Railway Station, on the evening of 19th instant:— a gold lever Watch, full plate, thick cases, maker, Mondsley, Liverpool; and also a heavy gold Albert Chain attached. Stolen from the person ou the Race Course, ou 19th and 20th instant:— A lady's gold Geneva Watch, engraved, 18- carat gold case, No. 50,199. Information to Mr. Supt. Simpson, Epping, or Inspector Robinson. Police Station, Chipping Ongar, Essex. — Bow- street, August 25. Encombe House, Wareham, Dorset, was burglariously entered on the night of 12th instant, and stolen therein :— 1 Necklace, single diamonds. 2 diamond Bracelets, with diamond brooch centres, ( not pairs). 1 diamond Brooch, octagon ruby centre, stone more purple than usual, and slight flaw. 1 square diamond Brooch, that had contained a minia- ture. I large Sapphire Stone, set in gold Brooch. 1 diamond Tiara. 3 small diamond Clasps. Silver- gilt Mounting of Flagon, set with precious stones. 1 large Seal with ivory handle, carved with satyr's head, above 6 inches long. 1 gold Pencil- case, with stone seal on top— anchor and port cnllis engraved thereon. 12 silver Table Spoons, crest— coronet and lion's head. II do. Tea Spoons do. do. 1 do. Sugar Basin with 2 handles, do. do. 1 do do. Tongs do. do. See Police Gazette of 16th instant. £ 500 reward will be paid by the Earl of Eldon to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property. Information to Chief Constable Amyatt, Dorchester, Dorsetshire.— Bow- street, August 23. Stolen, by meams of housebreaking, at Northfleet, Kent, on 16th instaut:— a black cloth Jacket, pockets at side ; black cloth Vest; pair of black cloth Trousers; pair of dark mixture cloth Trousers and Vest; pair of elastic- side Boots; and a pair of lace- up Boots, nearly new, no nails. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt. Coppinger, Police Court, Chatham, Kent.— Bow- street, August 23. About 11 a. m. on 14th instant, the dwelling- house of George Boulton, of Moddershall, near Stone, was entered, aud stolen therein :— a silver English patent lever Watch, No. 6523, maker's name ' D. Price, Birmingham ' ; half- a- Sovereign in Gold; 10s. in Silver; and about 4s. worth of penny postage Stamps. By a man, about 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in dark brown jacket and trousers, the latter much worn about the legs, and soft brown hat. Supposed to be in company with two other men, oue of whom wore a green shade over one eye. Information to Mr. Supt. Crisp, Police Office, Stone, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., Aug. 23. Wanted on a warrant for burglariously breaking and entering a dwelling- house at Upper Sandgate, on 17th iust. : — HENRY GILDEN, bricklayer's labourer, 22 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, inclined to curl ; dressed in white slop, light fustian or moleskin trousers, red wrapper or handkerchief round neck ; he left behind a billycock hat, blue lining, and a pair of military ammunition boots of ' E. K. Militia, No. 1582, dated 1877.' He may be found at a tramp's lodging- house. Information to Mr. Chief Supt. Gill, Town Hall, Folkestone, Kent.— Bow- street, August 23. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Ingrow, Keighley, between 1 and 2 a. m. on 21st instant:— a silver lever Watch, large size, cream- coloured dial, large figures, steel hands and seconds, engine- turned case, capped, brass spring or push to open case ; a gold snake- pattern Albert, 9- carat, with ' J. M.' stamped upon swivel ; 3 pairs of drawing Compasses, and two loose legs for another pair. The thief left a red and white cotton pocket Handkerchief in the house. Information to Mr. Supt Ireland, West Riding Constabulary, Keighley.— Bow- street, August 23, Stolen during the night of 17th instant, at Thame :— three silver pint Cups, marked ' R. J. C.', two plain and one chased; a double- barrel, central fire Gun, maker's name on lock, ' Boreham, Cambridge'. A man about 35 or 40 yeais of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, moustache, little or no whiskers ; dressed in loose grey overcoat, dark under suit, low crown felt hat, and wearing a gold riug is suspected ; he was traced to Princes Risborough, whencc ho booked to Paddington, by the 8.12 a. m. train, and at that time had the Gun ( which he had taken apart) in his possession. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, County Police Station, Oxford.— Bow- street, August 23. Stolen by means of housebreaking; at Aston Clinton, Bucks, on 17th instant:— a black cloth Coat, pockets at the hips, three buttons down the front; a black cloth siogle breasted Vest with roll collar ; a pair of black cloth Trousers, much worn, moth eaten down tho front Information to Inspector Andrews, Wendover, Tring, Bucks.— Bow- street, August 2< i Stolen from a dwelling- house, on the Haxby- road, Clifton, on 11th instant, by means of housebreaking:— a lady's gold lever Watch ( No not known) engraved on back ; a lady's strong gold Guard ; a gold Albert Chain, round links, one plain, and the other engraved, bar taken off, haa been used as a necklet, but bar has been stolen, and may be fitted up again ; a gold Key, with white and amber stones j a gold Locket, to hold 6 photos, engraved ; a gold Locket, with slide for velvet; a gold Brooch, set with white stones, and pendant attached; a small gold Pencil- case, engraved ' E. Pollard '; a gold Pin, set with : pattern : a lady's gold mourning Ring, small diamond in centic ; ladies' gold dress Rings, with diamond in centre, ami turquoise ; a lady's gold Ring, with dark hair plaited round it ; a pair of fancy gold Ear- rings, with ruby and pale green stone ; 2 pairs of gold Ear- rings, with coral balls ; a dark brown diagonal clotli top Coat, single breasted, fly front, lined with dark material, velvet collar, one pocket inside, one out- side of breast, two in laps, and ticket pocket; and a black felt Hat. By a man, who pledged one of the rings in York, the following morning :— about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, brown hair and moustache, rather thin face, proportionately built; dressed in dark coat, and black felt hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Hunter, N. R. Constabulary Office, Heworth, York.— Bow- street, August 20. during night of 14th instant, hy burglary, — a pair of elastic side Boots, have been worn. , Stolen at Burford and have a few flat headed nails outside of the sole and heels., no seam in front. Supposed by a tramp about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slight build, rather dark com- plexion, beard aud whiskers shaved off, and hair rather short, as if recently been in gaol ; dressed in an old hard felt hat, dark coat, cord trousers with a stripe down the outside seam, aud a patch on the bottom of each leg behind. Supposed wearing the stolen Boots. Can be identified. Information to Inspector Burton, County Police Station, Burford, Oxon. — Bow- street August 20. Stolen by mears of housebreaking, between 10 and 12 a. m. 15th instant, at B isford, Stoke- on- Trent:— a lady's gold Geneva Watch, maker ' Steer, Derby'; twelve silver tea Spoors, marked ' B.' on top, and star on under side ; a gentleman's gold Ring, 18 carat, with a stone iu which is a small hole ou one side ; and about £ 7 10s. in Gold and Silver Money. Information to Mr. Supt. Bowen, Stoke- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 18. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. The dark iron grey or blue roan Pony, stolen from the Warwickshire Moor. Tamworth, on 20th June last, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 30th Juue, bas not been recovered. The Pony mentioned in the Gazette of 30th Juue as having beeu seen going through Glascote was not the one stolen. The stolen one is believed to have passed through Lady Bridge Toll Gate, Tamworth, on the night it was stolen, iu the direction of Birmingham, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. Information to Mr. Supt. Walker, Atherstone, Warwickshire, — Bow- st., August 25. Remanded until 23rd instant, charged with stealing a Cow :— HARRY PRYOR ( name supposed fictitious) 5 feet 5 inches high, 22 years of age, dark brown hair, brown eyes, sallow complexion, long features, small dark moustache, board of about a week's growth ou chin, left front upper tooth broken ; dressed in black diagonal cloth coat and vest, browu mixture cloth trousers, lace- up shoes, worn over at heels, and small black hard felt hat. States be has friends at 7, White Lion- street, Islington, London. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Denson, Aylesbury, or to Inspector Sutton, Linslade Bucks .- Bow- street, August 20. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Wanted upon a warrant at Hastings, charged with stealing a Watch and Chain, on 11th instant} since found 2 pledged :— MARGARET HARRIS, a servant, 18 years of age, 5 feet high, full red face ; dressed in black cloth jacket aud black straw hat, trimmed with black ribbon ; has an uncle at the White Horse Inn, Edgely, near Slough, Bucks. Infor- mation to Mr. Chief Supt. Glenister, Hast. iugs, photograph can be sent on application— Bow- street, August 25. JOHN HORN, alias EVAN TUCKER, advertised in the Police Gazette of 20th instant, charged with larceny at Dorchester, has been apprehended at Sid mouth, Devon, and property recovered.— Bow- street. August 25. Wanted under a warrant for larceny of £ 20, as a bailee : — ERNEST JOHN KNIGHT, solicitor's clerk, 40 to 42 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, sallow complexion, thin face, shaved on chin and upper lip, dark hair and whiskers, round shouldered, ono rather higher than the other, carries his head a little on one side ; dressed in black coat, light dust coat over, light cloth trousers, and black silk hat. Carried a black leather bag, containing a valuable deed. His photo can be forwarded on application to Mr. Supt. O'Kill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent, who holds the warrant.— li'iw- strat, August 25. Description of PATRICK BRETT, Z 1118, a convict ou license, who has failed to report himself :— he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, blown hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, stout build, is a bricklayer, cut left eyebrow, scar back part of head, two near crown of head, aud one left knee. Ho was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, at Newcastle, on 29th November, 1873, for unlawfully wounding. Infor- mation to Chief Constable Poyntz, Central Police Station, Nottingham.— Bow- street, Aug. 25. Charged with embezzling £ 14 3s. 8d. on 12th instant:— HENRY R. CORKE, a commercial traveller to a wine merchant, 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair com- plexion, grey eyes, light brown hair turning grey, cut very short, small moustache, no whiskers, stout figure, mark on bridge of nose; dressed in round black felt hat, black frock coat and vest, marked ' H. R. Corke,' grey check trousers, or stripes, lew shoes, lay- down collar, broad tie, and gold pin, shape of a shield, angola socks, and elastic stockings. On 12th instant he left his horse and cart at Balcombe Station, took a ticket to Brighton by C 30 train, and has not been heard of since. Supposed to have gone to France or to Spain. He is fond of drink, is of good education, and for some time was choir master at East Grinstead Church. Has lived at Sevenoaks with his friends, also at Dover, Folkestone, and Andover as a draper's assistant. Has a wife and three children » t East Grinstead. Infoimation to Mr. Supt. Berry, East Grinstead, Sussex,— Bow- street, August 25. Stolen at Ditcheat, on 10th instant:— a double- case • silver Geneva Watch, small size, nearly new, No. 2502, a common metal Chain attached. Supposed by a young min who lodged at the house one night, about sJO years of age. 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, liazel eyes, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in a browu mixture suit, hard black hat, and lace- up boots. Slated he was a native of Yeovil, Somerset, and is a sailor. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Bisgood, Glastonbury, or to Sergeant Witcombe, Somerset Constabulary, Shepton Mallet.— Bow- street, August 25. Stolen between 1 and 2 p. m. on 20th instant, from a jeweller's shop at Tunbridge Wella : — a small black Tray, containing 3 plain coloured gold Lockets, different sizes; ^ secret link albert Chain and key Drop; 1 Belcher Chain ; a lady's second- hand gold Watch, gold dial, maker Braby j 1 silver Geneva Watch, small face, antique figures ; 1 new silver Geneva Watch, crystal glass, registered ; 4 gold Nap ileons ; 1 ten franc Piece ; 5 francs iu Silver; I pair coloured earring Wires ; and 9 pairs of bright gold do. By a man, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 9 iuches high, dark com- plexion. Information to the Head Constable, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- st., August 25. Description of RICHARD YOULDEN, late station master, at the Camborne. Station, West Cornwall Railway, who is charged with having embezzled the sum of £ 280, the monies of his employers, tie Great Western Railway Company :— 5 feet 6 inches high, broad shoulders, short thick neck, stout figure, limping walk, grey eyes, fair complexion sandy hair, whiskera, beard and moustache, bushy, broad Cornish dialect; probably dressed in grey suit of clothes. Informatioi to Mr. Supt. Mason, Special Police Department, G. W. R, Paddington, or to Mr. Supt. Miller, Cornwall Police, Camborne, who holds the warrant for his apprehension — Bow- street, August 25. Absconded from their lodgings at Eastbourne, during the night of 16th instant, charged with stealing a pair ol Wellington Boots ( recovered) :— One about 26 or 27 years of age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, stoutish figure, by trade a bricklayer ; dressed in black boulder crowned felt hat, dark coat, and worsted cord trousers. The other about 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown eyes, dark hair, propor- tionate figure, walks erect ; stated he had been a soldier iu the 16th Lancers, but now works as a bricklayer ; dressed in black boulder crowned felt hat, pepper- and- salt coloured coat corduroy trousers, and lace- up boots, with perforated toe- caps. They have been traced to Tuubridge Wells, and thence in the direction of Seven, aks. Information to Mr. Superintendent Newnham, East Sussex Constabulary, Eastbourne.— Bow-. August 23. Wanted, charged with embezzlement:— ADAM POTTS, he left Broseley on Cth October, 1879, he is about 40 yea s of age,' 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, medium built, dark brown hail", whiskers and small moustache, dark complexion, upper teeth project and irregular, supposed to have lost some, turns his toes in when walking, is very fond of drink and tobacco; dressed, when last seen, in dark clothes, and black soft jim- crow hat; will, no doubt, seek employment with the pen ; has a brother- in- law named Onslow, residing at 26, Cranham- road, South Bermondsey, London. Two guineas reward will be paid by Mr. Owen Harris, Clerk to the Urban Sanitary Authority of Broseley, for the arrest of Potts. Information to Mr. Supt. Galliers, Bridgnorth, or to Serjeant Davics, Police Station, Much Wenlock, Salop, who holds the warrant for Potts' arrest.— Bow- street, August 23. Description of THOMAS JOHNSON, wanted on warrant, charged with larceny as bailee, at Stafford, on 16th instant:— he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, large dark whiskers ant moustache, medium build, by trade a shoemaker; dressed in dark mixture suit, and black sammy hat, very shabby. Description of property stolen a pair of new shoot- ing Boots, 7 inch leg, very wide bottoms, 7 size, stamped with tlie Staffordshire knot on the solo at the wai.- t, and hand sewn bottoms; aud a pair of watertight Bcota, man'a size, the figures'^ 109' inside at the top of right boot, which he was entrusted with to sole and heel. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Oswell, The Green, or to Sergeant Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, August 23. Charged with stealing from his lodgings at Wyrley, on 9th instaut, nineteen Shillings :— THOMAS KING, 27 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, slender build, fresh com- plexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in dark ribbed cloth suit, plaid shirt, black hard billycock hat, and elastic- sido boots; he has been in the army, and said to bo now in the army reserve ; he represents himself to be a policeman or detective officer, is single, au Irishman, and has friends residing at Newcastle- under- Lyme. Information to Mr. Supt. Hackney, Brown hills, or to Sergeant Cockerel!, Police Office, Cannock, near Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 20. Wanted, charged ou a warrant with embezzlement: W. D. GARROD, wine merchant's traveller, late of No., 3, SpurstOEe- pluce, Hackney, 36 years of age, 0 feet high, slim' build, sallow complexion, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, has thick lips ; diessed respectably. Information to Inspector McWilliam, City Police, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- st., Aug. 20. Stolen from the Truro Railway Station, on 17th instant: — a black Bag, containing a quantity of Dental Instruments. The book is represented to bear the signature of several gentlemen in the neighbourhood, aud amongst others that of the name of Rev. W. L.
