Notice.— It ia requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending tho samo, and all applications in reference to tho POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and tho Name is giron, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be mado and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offenoo oharged, and an attested copy thereof, together with tho advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Lettero addressed to the Editor nillMt lie prepaid, otherwise tho insertion will not bo made. The Numes and Descriptions of Deserters from tho Army, and • f Absentees and Dosortcrs from tho Militia, shoidd bo forwarded on War Ofll.' o Forms 88 and 88A, to tho Editor, as abovo, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of tl e roward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). Tho person by whom it will be paid. Ou 4th instant, 2 gold- gilt Bracelets, one a flat band Bracelet, with several small blue stones, and the other an oval band Bracelet, chased. Stolen from the person at Newbury Flower Show, on 2nd instant ;— an old- fashioned pair case gold verge Watch, engraved ou outer case ' W. E to M. E.', No. 6749, maker J. Williams, London ; a gold Albert Chain, curb pattern, with gold Key, about 2 inches long, and gold Seal, the key has a purple stone at the end, aud the seal a corneliau stone, with a Grecian head engraved thereon. A reward of £ 5 will be paid on the recovery of the watch, and the conviction of the thief, on application to Mr. Supt. Bennett, Berks Constabulary, Newbury.— Bow- street, August 9. Stolen from the person in Preston on 1st inBtant:— a silver lever dead- beat Watch, cream- coloured dial, gold hands, ai d steel seconds hand ; has the initials ' A. W.' in the back of outer case, No. 2141, maker Thomas Yates, Preston. Also stolen from the person in Preston on nightof 2nd ins.: — a dead- beat silver lever Watch, No. 5913, extra jewelled, maker Thomas Yates, Preston, and had attached a short silver Albert Guard. t Information to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Borough . B.' in German letters on one side, and four stars aud ' Cruzeiro' on the other, aud a large gold Portuguese coin with coat of arms on one Bide and ' Josephus D G. Portet, alg Rex 1771' on the other. Stolen from the person at Reading, on 24th ultimo :— a silver Geueva Watch, with second hands, and chased back. Purchase, Borough Police Station, Reading Berks.— Bow- sired, August 9. Stolen from the person at Belle Vue, about 10 p. m., on 2nd iustaut:— a red leather Purse, without baud, containing £ 7 10.*. in gold, and a small parcel of diamonds, from 10 to 12 carats each, from the Cape. £ 6 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the apprehension aud conviction of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the property, or in pro- portion to the amount recovered. Between 12 midnight on Utli aud 6 a. m. on 7th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Peters, Newhaven,. was burglaiiously entered and stolen :— a small sewing Machine, has been repaired at the tension nuts, maker's name Weir, commouly tailed Weirs, 55s. Sewing Machine cau be identified by the repairs; 2 pairs of Scissors, one pair nearly new, and an old pair, both about 5 inches long ; 2 clothes Brushes, one very old and much worm- eaten, the other has a very light back and short hair ; a cotton under Vest, has been mended on the front at the arm right side ; a white damask cheese Cloth, has self fringe and a small quantity of Bread, Cheese, and Butter. Stolen at ripon, by means of [ housebreaking, during the night of 3rd instant:— 6 small silver Tea Spoons, new ; 2 do. little larger, old ; and 3 large silver Spoons, all marked with letter ' D.'; also a small gold headed Pin with green stone; _ a small gold Locket ; and a pair of cornelian Bracelets, set in silver, 6 or 7 pieces in each Bracelet, with silver clasps. Stolen by means of burglary, on the night of 4th instant, from Chalfont House, Chalfout St. Peter :— 4 fiddle- pattern silver Teaspoons, crest— hand holding a crescent. Also stolen from the Vicarage, Chalfont St. Peter, on tie same night, by moans of burglary :— a missionary Box, con- taining Is, the box has been found on the road broken open. Stolen by means of burglary, between 11p. m., on 6th, and 7 a. m. on 7th inst., at Horley. Surrey :— an old- fashioned gold Chronometer Watch, and " the Case in which it hung, which was in the shape of a carriage or travelling clock, about 8 ins. high aud 4 ins broad, front aud sides of plate glass Bet iu gold frame, gilt top rising to a pinnacle, gilt doc*- at back, - jilt dial, plate with round hole in centre through which the ace of watch shewed, inside the case was a seal of red cor- nelian stone set in gold, engraved with cvst- a lion rampant, aud initials ' J. N.' j an old- fashioned silver shell- shape Scoop, about 2 ins. long ; a red check tartan silk Neckerchief, about a yard squ ire ; a grey ulster Overcoat, with tabs on waist, short be't ; back, and grey bone buttons to match, would fit a you Si ayout 5 feet high. Information to Mr Supt. Red- ford, Surrey Constabulary, Godstone— Bow- street, 4 ugust 9. During the night of 4th instant, the Rectory, at Bletchley and the dwelling- house of R. Selby Lowndes, Esquire, were burglariously entered and stolen therefrom: — 2 Half- Sovereigns aud about £ 2 in Silver Money ; a small Candle- stick ; a Tea- caddy ; a Sugar Basin ; a pair of sugar- lifter Spoons, old fashioned; a Paper Knife ; a Flask ; 2 Salts ; 2 Salt Spoor s; aud a Mustard Spoon— all silver ; a round Waiter, about 14 inches aeross, beaded edge; a pair of Can- dlesticks, queen Anne's pattern, octagonal stand ; 3 Tea Spoons, crest— Harpy, all silver. Supposed by two men who were seen near the premises on the evening of the robbery. One about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light whiskers, incliued to be sane y ; dressed iu a dark coat, aud cap with ear lappets tied up. The other about 35 years of age, 5 ft. 8 inches high, light tweed suit, b, ots worn down at heels, and old cloth can. Supposed the same men who committed a burglary at Maids Moreton, Buckingham, on 2nd June last, and described in the Police Gazette of 7th June and following dates. Information to Mr. Supt. Hedley, Police Office, Fenny Stratford, Buckinghamshire.— Bow- street, August 6. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 3rd instant, at Ports ade, Sussex :— a gold Geneva Watch, maker Lee, Brighton ; a long gold snake pattern neck Chain, has a small Chain and Key, fox's head, attached ; a pair of Ear- rings and Brooch, shape of acorn ; a pair of plaia gold Ear- rings ; a pair of Cornelian Ear- rings, spray pattern ; a gold keeper Ring, set with three blue stones ; a gold King, set with three red stones, buckle pattern ; a small gold Ring, set with white pearls ; a gold Albert Chain, ridge links; a gold Seal, dog and gun; a Seal with white stone, gold Key and Chain attached ; a gold Brooch, with man's likeness ; 6 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' W. Stolen during the night of 5th instaut, from a field iu Wellington- road, Smethwick :— a dark mouse- coloured Mare, aged, 14k hands high, black legs, mane, and tail, scar on left ritis, saddle mark on back, off foreleg slightly bowed, and iu very low condition ; a heavy spring Trap, painted dark gree •:, uew spring over axle, two pins penetrate each side of body from top to bottom, tho name ' James Bartholomew, Smeth wick,' painted on side ofjlbodv. Also a set of silver- mounted Harness, nearly new, with the initials ' D. T.' thereon; 3 horse Rugs, of various colours ; a white Mackintosh, with grey waterproof lining aud white buttons ; and a pair of leather Leggings with spring sides. A reward of 10 guinea* will be pail for the recovery of the Harness and conviction of the thief or thieves. Information to Mr. Supt. Charged with stealing a Mare and Dog Cart ( recovered), and a set of silver- mounted Harness ( not recovered), on 23rd ult. ;— FREDERICK RILEY, alias ' FLASH FRED,' 22 to 24 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, rather slender, fresh complexion, browu hair cut short, no hair on face, very long neck, and smart appearance ; dressed in brown, velvet sac jacke , light small plaid trousers, hard black felt bat; address 3, Ash" Mount, Hickman- street. The chestnut Cob and one set of Harness, described in Polico Gazette of 24th May last as having been stolen from Eltham, Keut, and the cart described in Police Gazette of 19th May last aa stolen fivm Windleham, Surrey, have been recovered at Bristol. The Cart stolen from Elttiaiu has been recovered in London. The property has been traced to the Eiaseiwion of JAMES LAMBOURNE and GEORGE BARNETT, alias BARNARD, MATTHEWS, and GEORGE THE CLIPPER, described in Police Gazette of 2Gth ultimo, who have not been apprehended. The attention of all Police Officers is sneeiallv ca iled to the descrintion of these men. ! Inspector Wood, Constabulary Office, Dukinfield, Cheshire, who holds the warrant fja^ flig^ apprehension.— Bow- street, August 6. t Absconded, charged M^ i embezzling £ 180 at Harlfeston, on 28th ult. :— JOHN PALMER, jun., Carleton Rode, dealer, about 35 years of age, 5 teet 8 inches high, thin sharp face, no beard or moustache, slight whiskers dowu Bide face, quick talker, and horse dealer's appearance ; dressed well. Informa- tion to Inspector Mobbs, Holt, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 6. Stolen from Chichester Railway Station, a Portmanteau containing an amethyst Brooch, gold edge cut; a pair of amethyst drop Ear- rings ; a silver gilt hand Bracelet ; a gold who are known as expert horsestealers. Several cases can be proved against them for stealing Horses, Carts, and Harness. They commit these offences by night by breaking open stable doors, thcu driving to a distant part of the country, where they dispose of the property. Lambourue associates with low dealers ami gipsies, is a native of a villlage near Salisbury. Barnard is likely to apply for employment as fly driver aud an a horse clipper. He is well known at Bristol and other West of England towns. Both men are supposed to have been at Bristol on 20th ultimo. £ 10 reward will be paid by the Director, Criminal Investigations, Great Scotland Yard, for such information as will lead to the apprehension of these men.— Metropolitan i'olice, August* 0. MORRIS PRICE JONES, charged under a warrant with larceny fiom the Crown Inn, Corwen, and advertised ill the Police Gazette of 12th Jauuary last, is still at large ; he 18 an army reserve mau, and supposed to be passing as THOMAS PARRY JONES. Supposed left Liverpool ou the night of 88th May; was seen at North London Station at 4° 30pm. 29th, and at the Westminster Aquarium, with a woman, about 10' 30 the same night. £ 100 reward will be paid for the arrest of Sleddall by his late employers, 5 per cent, on mouey recovered, and expenses guthanteed. Stolen about 3 p. m. on 3rd iustant, in Newchurch :— a Coat ( recovered). Charged on warraut with larceny as a. bailee of a silver lever keyless Watch, maker Bennett London, No. 9757:— FREDERICK HOMER, of Reading Berks, a travelling clock aud watcli maker about 30 years of age, dark hair, small nark brown or sandy moustache aud whiskers ; dresseo in dark clothes, black low hat; carried a small box, wrapped in dark American leather. A French made horse clipping Machine was stolen from Farrington Gurney, ou 4th iustant, supposed by a man who was seen carrying a similar machine, aud has absconded :— he is from 36 to 40 years of age, 5 feet G or 7 inches high, medium build, light brown hair, iight browu whiskers, cut short, small moustache, shaves chin, sunburnt complexion, blue eyes, cut ou back of head from recent fall ; dressed in old hard bowler hat, old dark / brown overcoat, old mixed cloth trousers, aud elastic- side boots. Stated that he had served iu the Afghanistan War, and was discharged from the service on 6d. per day, has a medal ribbon on breast. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Oh rgeit with stealing £ 6 18s, and a calico Bag, on 27th ultimo :— FREDERICK SMITH, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, uitdium figure, fiesh complexion, full eyes, light hair, inclined to curl, few straggling haiia on faco, long lieck, turns his toes iu when walking; dressed iu blue ribbed jacket, aud vest, brown cord trousers, light quilted cloth billy hat, a labourer, native of Herefordshire, supposed near Malvern ; h is lived at 15, Clarence- street, Wolverhampton, about 12 months. Absconded from Dukinfield, Cheshire, on or about 5th March last :- JOSEPH ROWBOTHAM, assistant overseer, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dark biowu hair, hazel eyes, busby beard aud moustache, smart appearance, good address, and medium build. Charged on a warrant with obtaining by false • pretenses from the overseers of Dukinfield, 2 Cheques, for the respective sums of £ 950 and £ 400 in Cash. Information to Mr. Supt, Cooper, Constabulary Office, Hyde, or to Chief naua bracelet, set with 3 amethysts ; a toilet scent Bottle, silver mounted; a cheque Book, of Chichester Bank, Portmanteau recovered.
