The .. juttaa Police have been instructed to make such special arrangement^ as are possible in suburban districts, and to communicate with Vergers and Pew Openers particularly of churches open during the day. It is believed that a man is connected with the offences who attends in the first instance as a member among the congregation. He is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, full face, clean shaved; dressed in black frock coat, hard felt hat. A. W.' on one side ; a gold lever Watch, No. 7352, maker Hoddles, London, initials ' A. P. C.' on back ; a gold Albert, 15- carat, curb pattern : plain gold Locket attached, with bar down back and front, photo of a lady inside. Absconded from Abertillery, on 29th ultimo, charged under a warrant, with highway robbery with violence, stealing an open- faced Canadian gold Watch, No. 47555, engraved on inside case ' Patent lever, fall jewelled,' engraved on inside outer case ' Warranted gold,' the Watch is broken ; a gold Albert Chain, link and curb pattern, ' Canadian gold' stamped on cross bar ; also a Purse containing 2 Sovereigns, and 2 Half- sovereigns ; and a silk Handkerchief :— WILLIAM WILLIAMS, alias ISAAC WILLIAMS, a tailor or labourer, a Welshman, but speaks English correctly, about 25 years of aga, 5 feet 6 inches high, rather slight made, fresh complexion, dark hair, little dark hair at side of face, and small dark moustache, has a cast in one eye, supposed the left, and high cheek bones ; dressed in grey cloth coat, or dark frock coat, dark vest and trousers, black felt hat, and supposed Oxford shoes, has been a soldier, and was discharged about 12 months ago, from the 24th Regiment of Foot; he is a small active young man, has a habit of putting his hand to his eye when talking, generally wears p. belt aiound his waist to keep his trousers up ; may join the Army. Foll, Tredegar, or to Sergeant Williams, Monmouth Constabulary, Blaina, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Boxo- sireet, July 5. Stolen from the person at Trinity Street Railway Station, Bolton, about 8 p. m. on 3rd instant:— a leather Purse with elastic band, containing frcm to £ 5 in Gold, a Piece of Silver,£ and two Keys. . By a woman about 40 years of age, middle height, dark complexion, full features, stout build, pale face, and rough looking; dressed'in black shawl and dress, dark straw flat bonnet, with greea flower in front. Stolen between 11 p. m. 5th and 5 am. 6th instant .£ 12 in Gold and Silver, from the Post Office, Dartford. In formation to Mr. Supt. Fread, Kent County Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, July 7. Description of JAMES LEASK, alias SCOTCH JIM, charged with stealing by means of housebreaking, at Meole Brace,[ a silver Watch, imitation American, Waitham, No. supposed 8685, steel curb fob Chain, with common Key attached, with name ' Davies, Shrewsbury '.— 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light hair, fresh complexion, blue eyes, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in dark jacket, old and patched, grey vest, with silver plated livery buttons thereon, moleskin trousers, dark rough cap, coloured shirt, neckerchief white ground with dark spots, usually worn tied in sailors knot; has the appearance ol a bricklayer's labourer, has been used to going with horses, stated he had worked for the Corporation of Manchester, as cart driver ; talks with a broad accent, has recently worked for farmers. Information to Mr. Supt. Howell, Salop, or to Sergeant Lear, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, July 7. Stolen by means of shop- breaking, at Middlesborough, between 3rd and 5th instant :— about 48 yards of black cordec Silk, good quality, one edge red, and the other white and blue striped ; about 95 yards of black corded Silk, medium quality, edge narrow white stripe, with a wide red one ; 52 yards of black corded Silk, ordinary quality ; 42 yards do. poor quality; a number of silk Pocket- handkerchiefs, of various colours ; 6 plated Table- spoons ; and 4 Dessert- spoons, of good quality. Information to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough.— Bow- street, July 7. during the night of 5th instant, the Boat Inr, Stone was broken into, and stolen therein :— two gallons of Brandy; two gallons of Rum ; and about one gallon of Whiskey, each was in a two gallon stone jar with wicker work round, and ' James Glover, Spirit Merchant, Longton,' printed thereon, the rum and brandy jars were both sealed, and had never been opened, and that containing the whiskey was about half full. Stolen by means of burglary, at Maidenhead, betwe 12 30 and 6am. on 3rd instant:— 1 gilt Clock, with Artist painting represented thereon ; 1 gilt Clock, wi female figure on top; 1 nickel silver Teapot ; 1 Sewi Machine; 1 musical Box ; 6 silver dessert Spoons, pla pattern ; 6 silver dessert Spoons, fiddle pattern ; 8 Germs silver Teaspoons ; 2 pairs of men's Boots ; 2 pairs children > Boots, button kid ; a number of gaideuer's Knives, Scissor , & c. ; 1 white twill Mackintosh ; 1 black and white singli breasted Jacket, pockets on hip; 1 very old brown cloti Overcoat, with business cards in pocket,' J. Burdett, Nursery- man, & c.' By 3 men, two of whom are in custody and remanded till 12th instant: one GEORGE EDWARDS, engineer, Ipswich, 45 years of age, 5 feet 5| inches_ high without boots, bald place on crown of head, hair, whiskers, and moustache brown, turning grey, long thin feature?, grey eyes, toe nail left big toe deformed ; dressed in high hat, dark coloured trousers and vest, blue cloth pilot overcoat, velvet collar. The other HARRY HANSELL, engineer, Pershore- street, Birmingham, 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, shaved on ehiD, blue or grey eyes ; dressed in hard felt hat, double- breasted black cloth frock coat and vest, tweed trousers with narrow stripe running from top to bottom, low Oxford shoes, 6 scare in circle round the nipple of left breast, having the appearance of scars from burns, vaccination marks on arms. The third still at large, about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inchei high, fair hair and moustache, roman nose, marks of small- pox, round shouldered ; wearing stolen mackintosh and jacket. Can be identified. Supposed to have taken train from Slough t > London. Information to Mr Supt. Austin, Maidenhead, Berks.— Bow- st., July 7. During the night of 30th ultimo, Wadlev House, Faringdou, was entered and stolen theron -— 2 Trays, a rounif atid an oval, silver," crest— a gtiffit ; air of Candle- sticks, silver; an oval flower vase, ' fluted, a Top of a Mustard Pot, 5 Tea Spoons, a sugar sifter,. a Mustard l? poon, a Coffee Pot, a Tea Pot ( plain), a Tea Pot ( embossed) a Salt Cellar and Spoon, all silver and marked with Crest of a griffin ; between £ 7 and £ 8, including a £ 5 Burford Bank Note, joined, red cross on join, endorsed ' J. A. Davis,' on back ; ( Note very dirty) ; a gold oval engraved Locket, with initial ' T. B.' engraved thereon. Information to Mr. Supt. Reece, County Police Station, Faringdon, Berks.— Bow- st., July 5. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, between 24th and 26th ultimo :— a child's plain silver Cup with handle, inscrip- tion ' T. L. L. to G. T. R.' upon it; a do. embossed silver Cup with handle; a dozen dessert Knives and Forks, electro plated bladeB, richly embossed with grapes and vine leaves on both sides, but more thickly covered on one side than the other, handles mother- o'- pearl; a dozen Fish Knives and Forks, electro- plated blades, embossed with scroll pattern around and fish in middle, plain ivory handles ; a child's silver dessert Knife and Fork, Spoon, and napkin Ring, with initials ' C. H. T. H.' engraved on each; a pair of quaint old silver Cigar Ash Holders, about 31 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep in rim, the bottoms inside being raised groups of figures, representing scriptural or Eastern Bcenes, and the ' jottoms outside covered with greenish leather; a lady's handsome silver- gilt brocaded or chased Card Case; an old silver bladed butter Knife, with ' ivory handle, much worn ; a 3- pronged silver Pickle Fork ; an old plain ailver Pigeon's Egg, used as a salve box ; an ivory bladed pebbled handled Paper Knife, mounted in silver ; a Dress Piece, consisting of 18 yards of fine navy blue Cashmere ; 10 yards of black Cash- mere ; 6 yards of black Silk ; 8 yards of fine new white Flannel; 4 yards of red Flannel; a piece of black Satin; a long white Ostrich Feather; a small O. itrich Tip, pale blue ; a large navy Revolver, 6 chambers, maker, Monks, Chester ; and a small 6 chambered Revolver. Information to Chief Constable Stevens, Rochdale, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July t>. Stolen by means -. f burglary, during the night of 2nd instant, in Castle- street, Berkhampsted :—| of a yard of blue Satin ; from 12 to 18 yards of good Alpaca; about 2 dozen red turkey pocket Handkerchiefs; a quantity of different kinds of Ribbon ; from the till and cashbox, a few shillings in Silver and Coppers ; a number of children's Shoes, with the prices marked in plain figures ; some white pocket Handker- chiefs with dark borders, various colours ; about 2 dozen men's elastic Braces ; a quantity of women's Stockings, different colours ; and about 2 dozen coloured table Cloths. Information to Insp ctor Goodyear, Great Berkhampsted, Herts. - Bow- street, July 5. During the night of 28th ultimo, the Post Office, St. Alban's, was entered, and about £ 3 12s. Cd. consisting of Gold and Silver, and 2 fi • e- shilling packets of Coppers in brown paper arid tied up with narrow coloured taps, stolen therein. The thieves left behind them a small bull's eye lamp. Three men dressed in dark clothes were seen to leave the office by the front door about 2 30 a. m. Information to Mr. Supt. Pike, Police Office, St. Alban's, Herts.— Bow- street, July 2. Stolen between 10' 30 p. m., 28th, and 6' 30 am , 29th ult, from No. 1, Abbey- road, St. Thomas's :— a single- breasted Chesterfield Overcoat, black Elysian cloth, fly front, square behind, black velvet collar, and black cloth buttons. Stolen I at East Wellow, near Romsey, Hants, on the night of 28fh ultima — an aged chestnut Mare, about 14 hands high, ifght mane and tail, white face, white hind legs, same on hind legs from spavins. Information to Mr supt. Kellaway, Hants Constabulary, Romsey.- Bow- street, July 5. Charged with stealing a Horse ( recovered), from a field at Acton Grange, during the night of 25th, or morning of 26th ultimo :— a man, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 ins. high dark complexion, dark hair and - whiskers, the latter very'slight, and medium build ; dressed in blue pilot jacket and. trousers, black soft billycock hat, a coloured neckerchief, tied in a sailor's knot. Information to Mr. Supt. Williamson, Town Hall, Runcorn, or to Sergeant Booth, Police Station, Stockton HeATH, near Warrington.—£ ou-- street, July.'). Supposed stolen, during the night of 25lh ultimo, from a field at Street Issa, near Ruabon :- a dark grey Filly, 1 year old, email white star on forehead, long tail, three black legs, off hind leg light coloured, with scar on inside between hock and fetlock joint, in fair condition, not shod. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Wilde, Wrexham, Denbighshire, or to Sergeant Hughes, Ruabon.— Bow- street, July 5. Stolen between 0 and 7 p. m., on 27th ultimo, from Teston, Kent:— a dark brown mare Donkey, white nose, black head, brown legs, a little white between the hocks and hoof, short coat, mane cut short, a few blotches in skin on rump, one hind shoe off, in good condition. Information to Mr. Supt. Hulse, Kent Constabulary, West Malling.— Bow- street, July 2. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on 8th ultimo, charged with embezzling £ 8 12s. Id. :- DAVID EDWARD PRICE, station master, native of Rhayader, Radnorshire., about 36 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, full face, high forehead, light brown hair, slight light whiskers and moustache, shaves on chin, front teeth upper jaw projecting, a little stout, well built, well educated, and of gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in a light coloured suit of tweed, hard felt hat, and low shoes. A warrant has " been issued for his apprehension. Information to Mr. Supt. Bate, Carmarthen.— Boio- strte, July 7. Absconded from Luton, on 3rd instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a silver Watch:— HENRY BENNESSE, a watch meaner, about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, black hair and mous- tache, grey patch of hair on right side of head, no whiskers ; dressed in hard felt hat, blue necktie, dark coat and vest, grey trousers, and spring- side boots. Information to Head Constable Jaquest, Borough Police Office, Luton, Beds.— Bow- st,, July 7. Stolen, at Buildwas, between 1st and 3rd instant:— a pair of man's elastic- side Boots, No. 7 size, toecapped, and in fair condition. Supposed by a man who had been lodging in the house and left on 2nd instant, about 45 or 50 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, hair and whiskers turning grey ; dressed in an old blue pilot cloth overcoat, and light ducking slop and trousers, old elastic- side boots, and billycock hat; a native of Surrey or Kent, and travels about the country, sometimes working at mills as a mill- stone dresser. Information to Mr. Chief Supt. Ivins, Wellington, or- to Sergeant Turner, Iron Bridge, Salop.— Bow- street, July 7. Description of GEORGE CRAWSHAY, a journeyman watchmaker, charged on warrant with larceny of a silver Geneva Watch, Mo. 1416 or 18456 he absconded from Brynmawr on 30th ultimo, about 42 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, swarthy complexion, short brown hair, turning grey, slight brown moustache, full large grey eyes, aquiline nose, scar on bridge of nose, rather prominent teeth, much addicted to smoking and drinking, stout figure, short neck, pugilistic appearance ; dressed iu a black hard high crowned felt hat, black corded silk necktie, pla'd cotton shirt, black corded worsted coat, brown trousers, and vest of same material, and elastic- side boots. Supposed to be well known at Swindon, Birmingham, and London. Information to Mr. Superintendent Evans, Crickhowell, Breconshire, or to P. S. ( 18) John Joseph, Brynmawn, Breconshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- at., July 7. Further dessriptien of ARTHUR JOHN HEAD, Sergeant Major tf The Worcestershire Militia, advertised in Police Gazette of 2ud April, 1879, charged with stealing £ 9- 2, the property of Major Hill, paymaster of the Worcestershire Militia : — 47 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, sallow com- plexion, dark brown hair, whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin, grey eyes, long features, large nose, medium build, is accompanied l y a young woman, dark complexion, short stature, respectable appearance, and pleasing maimers, they have been traced to Bristol, where he was employed as an insurance agent, in the name of Armstrong, till a few da^ s ago, when he absconded. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Checketts, County Police Office, Worcester.— Bow- street, July 7. Stolen from the ' Sun' hotel, High- street, Southampton, about 10 p. m., 1st instant:— a lady's gold Geneva Watch, with gold face ; a long curb pattern gold Chain attached ; a collar Stud, set with diamonds. star pattern; a small gold Locket; a Spade Guinea ; a plain gold liing, much worn ; a set of coral Solitaires and Studs ; a set of plain gold Studs ; two black enamelled Studs ; a silver spring scarf Ring ; a gold Locket, with ivy leaf on one side, and containing the photo, of a gentleman ; and a Purse, with about 9s. in Silver. By 3 men, one about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark moustache, hair turning grey; wearing long dark grey coat, light trousers, and high white hat. Another about 38 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout build, light moustache, and whiskers side of face, hair turning grey; wearing grey clothes, and hard black felt hat. The other about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, slight beard and moustache; wearing brown tweed clothes, and round hard black felt hat. Information to Head Constable Breary, Southampton, Hants.— Bow- street, J- dy 5. Description of WHITFIELD HARRISON, wanted for embezzlement at Middleton in Teesdale, on 7th February, 1880 :— 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, red hair, and large moustache, no whiskers, propor- tionate figure, residence late Middleton in Teesdale, a mill- wright, sometimes goes about the country repairing sewing machines, & c. Information to Mr. Supt. Thompson, Police Office, Barnard Castle, who holds the warrant for his arrest. — Bow- street, July 5. Description of EDWARD KENDRICK, a tramping • watchmaker, charged on a warrant witd larceny as a bailee of an aluminium gold Watch ( not recovered), on 4th April last : -- he is about 27 or 28 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, hair and small moustache inclined to sandy, blue eyes, fair complexion, slender build ; a cripple, and goes upon two crutehes ; dressed when leaving here in blue overcoat, dark cloth trousers, and deerstalker hat; a native of London. Parents living at 87, Park- street, Camden- town, London. Information to Mr. Supt. Basham, Police Station, Acle, Norfolk.— Bow- street, July 5. Description of a man known as FRENCHMAN CHARLEY, a foreigner, a tramping blacksmith charged with stealing from a workshop at Chelmsford, where he was employed, on 25th ultimo, 2 Overcoats ; 1 Hammer; 1 pair Pincers; 1 Buffer ; 1 pareing Knife; and 1 leather Apron, the property of William Makings, his late master, one over- coat and apron have been recovered :— 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, dark eyes, apparently about 50 years of age, swarthy complexion, bald headed.; dressed in a coat spotted with wash, light striped trousers, hard felt hat, and shoes, old, and cut at the toe.
