The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. JNotice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending tho same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to tho Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from tho Army, and ef Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War OE.' o Eorms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of tbe reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied- by a letter, signed by the persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of the offender. Stolen from the person, at Newton Races, on 16th and 18th instant:— a silver Geneva Watch, No. 24328 ; a silver lever Watch, No. 3412, mak,; r Willman, Bangor ; a silver Geneva Watch, No. 89105, maker Armand, Geneve; a gold hunting Watch, makers Frodsham, and Keen, Liverpool^; and gold Albert Guard, with Guinea attached; a gold hunting Watcli, No. 4682, [[ maker's name ' Sandon, Palais Royal, Paris,' on dome, has a small opening in front case, so that you can see the time without opening it. Description of a man, late of Dayhills, near Stone, charged with stealing Half- a- Sovereign from the person, at Dayhills, on the night of 2nd instaut:- a labourer, about 2i yrs. of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 hobes high, pale complexion, dark hair and eyes, stout build, aud a native of Leigh, near Uttoxeter, and liis grandfather resides at Gratwich, Uttoxeter. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Crisp, Police Office, Stone, Staffordshire. Bow- street, June 18. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. In Glenluce, Wigtown, on the morning of lst instant, James Milligan, innkeeper there, was murdered, aud his housekeeper, Grace McOredie, was injured to the danger of her life by some person or persons at present unknown. There were carried away from the premises— a gold patent lever Watch, No. 21545, and gold Chain, in three pieces, and the person or persons suspected are believed to lia^ e in their possession a Hand Saw, a Jack Plane, aud a Hammer. A reward of £ 100 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who will give sucli information as shall lead to the discovery of the person or persons who committed the above crimes Information to Chief Constable Murphy, Wigtown, N. B.; or to Mr. Supt. McNeil, Stranraer, N. B. Bow- street, June 18. On 7th instant, the dead body of a female child was found in the Birmingham Canal, near Spon- lane, West Bromwich, where it appeared to have been for about a week, with marks of having been strangled with a cord before being placed in the water, and a Coroner's Jury having returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' a a reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person other than a police officer who shall give such information and evidence, as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the Grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. The child is from 2 to 3 months old, full features, dark brown hair, inclined to be curly ; dressed in an ordinary shirt, a cotton band, a linen napkin, a long grey flannel petticoat, with a herring- boned hem round the bottom, and an ordinary calico night gown, all fastened with pins, and in good condition. Stolen, at Horsforth, between 7 p. m. on 9th and 9 p. m. on 14th instant : 5 silver and gold Dessert Spoons, large pattern, embossed with fruits and fluted ; a silver pint Tan- kard, handles on each side ; 2 silver Table Spoons, marked E. G.' ; 11 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' E. G.'; pair of silver Sugar Tongs ; 2 Salt Spoons ; 2 gold Lockets, one engraved on black ' In Memory of Letitia,' aud has her likeness inside, the other is a small embossed one ; a small silver Caddy Spoon; a silver Mustard Spoon; 6 desert Knives aud Forks, with pearl handles ; a silk plum- coloured Dress, trimmed with cream- coloured satin, and vandyked at bottom. £ 10 reward ill be paid on the apprehension of the thief and recovery cf the property, or in proportion thereof. Stolen by means of burglary, between 12 p. m. and 5 a. m. on 19th instant, at Wallingford :— a gold Geneva Watch, No. 27862, maker's name Motteo, with hair guard attached ; 2 gold Lockets, with Pencil Case attached ; silver Brooch and Necklet; plated Sugar Tongs ; 2 Ladles; meerschaum Pipe. Information to Inspector Butcher, Wallingford, Berks.— Bow- June 21. FORGERY. Charged on warrant with forgery :— JOHN CROSS WEBB, about 56 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, rather stout, stoops, and leans slightly to one side, long shaggy eye- brows, mole on end of nose, wears a stiff short beard, and moustache turning grey, and of respectable appearance. He absconded about the end of February last, and was previously in business as a manufacturer of Japan and tin goods, at Bank View Works, Hyde Road, West Gorton, near Manchester, and resided in Richmond Grove, Stockport Road, Manchester, his wife is now supposed to be residing at Leamington. A reward of £ 10 will be paid by Messrs Orford and Milne, Solicitors, 87, Fountain Street, Manchester, for such information as will lead to his arrest, if effected within 3 months from this date Stolen between 6 and 9 p. m. on 18th instant, by means of housebreaking, from Grosvenor- place, Penn Fields : — a pair of black cloth Trousers, fly- fronts, nearly new ; a black cloth Yest, very open front, nearly new ; a suit of light brown Tweed, much worn; a pair of blue mixture cloth Trousers, fly- fronts, much worn ; a ditto brown Trousers', cloth, fly- fronts, much worn ; a light brown ulster Overcoat, pockets on hips, and outside left breast, much worn ; all men's sizes. Stolen by means of housebreaking on 19th instant, from a draper's shop at Congleton :— a lady's silver Geneva Watch, flat glass, No. 21195, ' J. S.' scratched in small letters on back of case ; 3 gold Lockets, an old Scarf Pin, 2 old- fashioned Seals for fob chains ; a metal watch Chain, snake pattern, imitation gold ; a long white metal watch Chain ; 18 pairs of two- button light kid Gloves, maker ' Feston'; a black alpaca Umbrella, about 2 lb. of coloured fleecy Wool, 3 packets of note Paper, a packet of Chadwick's sewing'Cotton, a pair of blue worsted Stockings, and £ 3 8s. in Cash. The thief will no doubt be weiring the Stockings, as an old pair were left behind. Information to Chief Constable Hall, Congleton, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 21. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 1 and 5 p. m., on 18th instant, at Horley, Surrey :— a black cloth Coat, straight backed, two pockets on hips, one inside left breast; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fly fronts ; a pair of dark cloth ditto; an old fashioned rep Overcoat, dark colour; a bluo bundle Handkerchief ; and a small Time Piece, with ridge top. By a tramp, from 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, pale complexion, dark whiskers and moustache, cut short ; dressed IU black cloth coat, cord trousers, and brown cloth cap, with peak. Information to Mr. Supt. Bedford, Surrey Constabulary, Godstone — Bow- st., June 21. Stolen, by means of burglary, at Brentwood, on 16th instant :— a large quantity of ladies' silk Ribbons, various colours ; a quantity of Luce and gossamer Falls ; a quantity of ladies' silk Neckties; half- dozen gentlemen's white silk Handkerchiefs ; two large carpet Bags ; a small carpet Bag ; and about £ 10 in Gold. Supposed by two men— first between 20 and 20 years of » sp> about 5 feet 0 inches b'gb, n: whiskers or moustache, and fair complexion ; dressed in drab overcoat, and hard felt hat ; and the other 20 to 26 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, no whiskers or moustache : dressed in black suit and hard felt hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Dobson, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- street, June 21. Description of a man concerned with JOHN GEORGE OWENS, in custody for burglary :— 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 iuches high, pale complexion, rather long nose, reddish hair, cut short, small red whiskers, slight moustache fair, grey eyes, thin buiid, long thin liauds, has impediment in his speech ; dress ( generally) dark clothes, felt hat, respectable appearance, generally carries a black or carpet bag, and supposed accom- panied by his wife, who is short and thin, dark, delicate iooking; weais black hat with white feather. Information to the Director, C. I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. WV— Metro politan Police, June 21. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, at Darlington- road, near Northallerton, on 16th instant:— a dark grey cloth Coat, two pockets outside with flaps, and one inside left breast, Vest aud Trousers same material; a black cloth Coat and Vest, all men's size ; a dark grey cloth Suit to fit a boy 16 years of age; and a dark grey plaid Suit, to fit a boy 12 years of age, all in good condition. Supposed by a rag gatherer about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, supposed dark hair and whiskers down face ; dressed in dark brown coat, torn near vent behind, black cord trousers, and black cap. Carried a rag bag ; and his wife about 30 years of age, middle size; dressed in black straw hat with feather, a long dark waterproof cloak, reaching to heels and tight- fittiug. They were seen in company of two men, near the house robbed :— one man about 18 years of age, middle size ; dressed in dark clothes and velvet cap with tassel on top ; tbe other about 2# years of age ; dressed in dark grey clothes and dark cap. The woman and her husband were traced to Entercommon, near Darliugton, the latter carrying a bag nearly full. Stolen betwean 11 p. m. on 4th anU 3 p. m. on 15th inst., by means of housebreaking, at Farley Cottage: — a single- breasted black ribbed serge Jacket, with poi kets on hips and one inside left breast; a Vest of same material ; a pair of black cloth Trousers ; and black cloth Vest; all to fit a man and part worn ; also about 24s. in Silver and Copper Coin, including two Crown Pieces. Supposed by three men who have beeu traced from the Vicarage to Netteswell Parndon, Essex, going in the direction of Waltham Abbey :— one about 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 iuches high, aud ssndy whiskers and moustache ; dressed iu dark clothes, felt hat, and lace- up boots. The other two men about 20 to 35 years of age, and about 5 feet 8 ins. high ; dressed in dark clothes, felt hats, and one of them was carry- ing a bundle, and wearing very old shoes, bad the appearance of mechanics. An ' Eveuing Standard,' of Saturd. y's date, was found at the Vicarage. £ 20 reward will be paid by Mr. Supt. Ryder, for the apprehension of the thieves on conviction. Information to Mr. Supt. During the night of 10th instant, an office at New Holland, was broken into and stolen therein :— a black pilot cloth reefing Jacket, velvet collar, light twill lining, repaired at the side under left arm, one inside left breast pocket, two outside pockets, with flaps, black bone buttons, turning brjwn, about half worn ; a black cloth reefing Jacket, velvet eollar, a slit tinder right arm, lined with black alpaca, sleeves lined with white twill lining, four black bone buttons down front, much worn. Supposed by a man between 30 and 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high ; dressed in close fitting cap, brown coat, dirty light trousers ; he carried a sack or bag, which appeared bulky. Information to Inspector Ward, Barton- on- Humber, Lincolnshire.— Bow- st., June 16. On 11th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Baker, Adversaue, Billingshurst, was entered, and stolen therein :— a small silver foreign Coin ; a copper foreign Coin ; a gold wedding Ring, broken ; and a small Picture of a little girl. Supposed by two tramps, one 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 iuches high, dark complexion, full face; dressed in a dark suit of clothes, wearing a cap with a leather strap across the front, with a brass button on each side ; the other 19 years of age, 5 feet ? inches high, dark complexion, long thin nose and face ; dressed in a monkey jacket, white slop under, and black felt bat, appears like a German bandsman. They are carrying a round can, used by them for heating water, also a white basket; gone in the direction of East Sussex aud Kent. In formation to Mr. Supt. Henderson, West Sussex Constabulary, Horsham.— Bow- street, June 16. During the Light of 11th instant, the County Court Offices at Wrexham were broken into and stolen therein :— 13s. 4d. in Silver and Copper, also a silver lever Watch, No. 1019, maker Griffiths, Llanrwst. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Hoo, Kent, on 13th instant :— a silver lever hunting Watch, Maker Collins, No. 5219. Information to Mr. Supt. He is from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, black hair, no whiskers, very heavy black moustache, dark complexion ; dressed iu a blown coat, dark trousers, bowler hat, and speaks with a foreign accent. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen on 10th instant., from the Pheasey Farm, Great Barr :— a black cob Hores, 6 years old, 141 hands high, rough mane which hangs on side, very short thick tail, with hair rubbed off on top, white mark on forehead, in shape of heart, half size of man's hand, recently blistered on hind legs, in good condition, had on a leather headstall. £ 10 reward will be paid as follows, £ 5 by T. Ryland, Esq, J. P., and £ 5 by the Secretary of the Great Barr, and Perry Barr Association, for the prosecution of felons, on recovery of the horse, and con- viction of the thief or thieves Information to Mr. Supt. Further information respecting the Mare stolen from Thorpe, Surrey, on 9Lh instant, and advertised iu Police Gazette of 11th instant:— has an old scar on the near nostril caused by a tear of a nail. £~> reward will be paid by the owner, Mr. Pullen, to any person who will give such infor- mation as shall load to the recovery of the Mare, and con- viction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from a field at Haigh House Hill, Longwood, betwee i 10 p. m. 15th and 7 a. m. 16tli instant:— a bay Horse, halfbred, about 15^ hands high, 10 years old, in fair condition, with switch tail, light iu the legs, has a recent scar on the left buttock, and the hair is rubbed off the shoulders, from the collar, lately used iu a ' bus. Information to Mr. Supt. Goodall, West Riding Constabulary, Huddersfield.— Bow- street, June 21. Description of MARK RYDER, a cattle dealer, of Richmond, Yorkshire, remanded until 22nd instant, on a charge of stealing aroau Bullock ( recovered), during the night of 7th- instant, or morning of 8th ::— 41 years of age, 5 feet 71 inches high, fresh complexion, blue matk under right eye. li. ht blue eyes, dark brown hail', turning grey; dressed in a brown cloth coat and vest, grey striped trousers, black billycock hat, and strong lace- up boots ; he is known to cattle dealers throughout Yorkshire, Durham, and Cumber- land. Supposed steilen on 10th instant, from a field at the Pheasey Farm, Great Barr :—- a black cob Horse, 14J bands high, rou . h mane, short thick tail, recently blistered on liind legs, and in good condition. Information to Mr. Supt. Holland, Police Office, Wednesbury, Staffordshire, or to P. C. Given, Police Station, Great Barr, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, June 18. Stolen at Keyingham, East Riding of York, between 13th and 15th instant :— 2 pairs of Bhort leather Leggings, and a black mackintosh Coat, nearly new. Supposed by two tramping navvies, who had leave to sleep on the premises ou the night of 13th instant, one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair, stout make ; dressed in drab slop, moleskin trousers, and black raddy hat ; the other about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, fresh complexion, round face, stout make ; dressed iu drab slop, narrow cotton cord trousers, dark cap. Description of HERMAN GUTMANN, a German Jew, native of Mainz- on- Rhine, charged with stealing valuable Secureties :— about 25 years £ of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, light hair, light moustache, nose slightly inclines to the right, scar from ringworm, about 1 inch below right ear, is of gentlemanly appearance ; he absconded on 4th instant. Infor- mation to Chief Constable Jackson, Central Police Office, Sheffield.— Bo - street, June 21.
