H.'; a dozen beaded Forks ; a pair of Nut- crackers ; a dozen fish Knives and Forks ; 6 dessert Knives, pearl handles ; a ditto Fork ; a dozen Tea- spoons; an egg Spoon; a Sugar- spoon, all plated ; 2 pairs of high- legged woman's button Boots; a pair of man's patent leather dress Boots ; a pair of Goloshes ; a damask white Table- cloth ; and about 10 lb. of spiced Beef. Information to Mr. Superintendent Drewett, Flax Bourton, Bristol, or to Sergeant Dewey, Somerset Constabulary, Totterdown, Bristol.— Bow- street, February 9. Stolen from a shop at Pelsall, during the night of 6th instant: a leg of Mutton, 101b.; 12 lb. of Beef, bed; about £\ in Copper, and 6s. 6d. iu Silver Money ; a i umber of penny Postage Stamps ; a sugar Bag, marked ' T. 149'; and a meat Cloth. Also from a carpenters shop : a Brace and Bit ; a small keyhole Saw, the latter was used to effect an entrance into the first named shop, by boring a hole through the cellar door. A man, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, middle age, with sandy moustache, is suspected, supposed a tramp. Director of Criminal Investigations calls the attention of Police and Constabulary Forces to the above.— Bow- street, February 2, 1810. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Notice is hereby given, that, in addition to the sum of £ 100 offered by Her Majesty's Government, and of a further sum of £ 100 by Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace, the High Sheriff of the County Palatine of Lancashire ( William Garnett, Esq.), offers a reward of £ 100, making a total reward offered of £ 300, to any person, other than a person belonging to a police force in the United Kingdom, who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers of Sarah Jane Roberts, on 7th January last, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to the Director, C. I. D., Great Scotland Yard, S. W.— Metropolitan Police, February 9. Description of a man who is connected with the burglaries that are taking place in Shropshire and the idjoining counties : he is a convict on license, having been convicted at Radnorshire Assizes, March, 1870, in the name of THOMAS COPE, for burglary, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude : he is 43 years of age, 5 feet 3f inches high, dark hair, large dark whiskers, heavy moustache, high fore- head, large scar on left side, broad hips, third finger of right hand contracted, anchor on left arm, mole on front of neck ; dressed in a long dark overcoat, black felt hat, dark cloth trousers, strong boots, long muffler round neck ; he was born in Manchester, and has resided at the Rhos. Denbighshire. wears her hair wavy in front; is a native of Staffordshire ; was dressed in a black dress, with crape round cuffs ( stolen), and has a paisley shawl. Information to the Chief Constable, Salford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, February 6. Stolen, from a Pawnbroker's shop at Halifax, during the night of 30th ultimo : a silver- plated Revolver, small size; a quantity of Silk Handkerchiefs; a Coat; a meerschaum Pipe in case ; Six Shillings in Money ; a small Foreign Coin, size of a three- penny piece, with small hole through," and star on one side ; a silver verge Watch, No. 381, not in going con- dition, silver albert Guard attached ( snake pattern), with silver Key at end ; nine or twelve silver Chains ; three lengths of Coral Beads, one length going white ; a small gold albert Guard and Key. ( Belcher and Brazilian pattern); a small gold curb fob Chain, six dwts. ; blue enamel Slide; a gold Pin blue enamel cross in pearls, the enamel slightly chipped ; a dark olive diagonal worsted cloth Overcoat; a red Silk Handkerchief; a set of Coral Beads, marked on snap ; also a woollen Shirt. Supposed by two men : first about 40 years of age,;, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, long dark whiskers, sharp features, black stiff billycock hat, dark mix- ture suit, appears respectably dressed. 2nd from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, no whiskers, slight moustache ; dressed in a pair of light cord trousers, a black jacket, with white slop underneath, a close fitting cap with peak, heavy boots, and had the appearance of a navvy. One of the men was carrying an old joiner's bass, suppose to contain the stolen property. It is supposed one of the men will be wearing the dark olive diagonal worsted cloth over- coat. Entrance obtained through the roof. Information to Chief Constable Pole, Town Hall, Halifax.— Bow- street, February 4. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Hooley- hill, Audenshaw, between 3' 30 p. m. and 9p. m. on 1st instant: 1 spade ace Guinea, slightly bent at the edge, and far worn ; and about 3a. in copper Money. Entrance effected to the house by means « f a skeleton key. The drawers aud boxes in the house have been forced open by means of some flat implement about ^- inch broad. Also from a dwelling house at Hooley- hill, between 6 p. m. and 10" 15 p. m. on 1st instant : 10s. iu Silver. The marks on the boxes and drawers at both houses correspond. Information to Mr. Superintendent Ludlam, County Police Office, Hurst, Lancashire.— Bow- street, February 4. the date hereof. Information to the Chief Constable of Lancashire, County Police Office, Preston, or to Mr. Superin- tendent Bent, Police Station, Old Trafford, near Manchester. — Brno- street, February 9. he has a small carpet bag with him. This man was appre- hended at Gobowen, on the morning of 5th instant, and in his possession was found a set of housebreaking implements, remanded until 14th instant. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Mr. Superintendent Wilde, Wrexham.— Bow- street, February 9. Wanted at Salford, on several charges of burglary and housebreaking : RICHARD YATES, alias SMITH, alias MASON, alias JONES, alias JOE BROOKS, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, may shave all oft, parts his hair in centre, and wears it far down on forehead ; belongs to War- rington, and may seek employment as a file cutter; was dressed in a brown tweed jacket and vest, and dark tweed trousers. Stolen from a watchmaker's shop, at Llanidloes, on 4th instant, by breaking the shop window : a silver English a lever Watch,~ No. ' on the cock, flat | age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark complexion, eye3, and hair JOHN, alias JAMES SMITH, alias JONES, alias ROBERT BROOKS, brother of the above named, 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, hazel eyes, black hair, dark moustache and beard, may also shave ; is a native of Warrington, and is a member of the Kent Artillery Militia, and may seek employment as a glass cutter or enlist; was dressed in a black cloth jacket, grey cord trousers, and lace- up boots ; is accompanied by a woman also wanted, named ROSE MASON, alias HAMLET, 18 or 19 years of Stolen, by means of house- breaking, between 6.15 p. m., and 8 p. m. 1st instant: £ 2 10s. in Gold and Silver ; a gold Brooch, moveable centre, one side for photo, being empty, the other side containing a small quantity of light brown hair, with new brass pin recently attached ; a pair of gold Ear- ring?, diamond pattern three links ; a gold scarf Pin, twisted, diamond pat' ern ; a pair of wooden Nut- cracks, forming figure of man's face ; a pair of gold plated sleeve Links, black stone with white stripe across ; a sleeve Link similar pattern ; a dessert Spoon ; two electro- plated table Spoons ; a pair of Germau- iilver Sugar- tongs ; a common imitation gold Brooch, horse shoe pattern, with a piece of silk ribbon attached ; a blue pilot Overcoat, plaiu collar, black covered buttons, pockets on each outside, puce and black liuing, been repaired right sleeve, part worn; a pair of dark gray cloth Trousers, part worn, bound with white braid, with a pair of coloured elastic Braces attached ; a black hard felt billycock Hat. Stolen on 2nd instant, by means of housebreaking, at Kidderminster : about 6 new Suits, men's, all loose Jackets or Coats ; a Coat and Trousers belonging to new suit, brown colour ; 2 pairs of new Boots, men's, sewn, elastic- sides, size 7 and 8 ; a number of Stockings, iu packages ; a quantity of Scarves and Mufflers ; numerous Jackets, Ulsters , and Coats, which were in pledge with the tickets ou them ; a new plaid Shirt, red mixture, of woollen material; a Table- cloth, red and purple mixture. Information to Mr. Superintendent Haigh, Town Hall, Kidderminster,— Bow- street, February 4. During the night of the 2nd instant, a carpenter's shop at Suuninghill was broken into and stolen therein : a half rip Saw, marked ' F. P.' a, nd ' F. Pizzey' a panel Saw, ' F. Pizzey'; a smoothing Plane, ' H. Cox'; a ditto, ' R. L.' and G. Tidbury'; a panel Saw, 1 G. Tidbury'; a half rip Saw. ' J. Shiner'; a new tenon Saw, maker's name ' Emes, London,' stamped on it; a bull- noae Plane, in a small red baize Bag ; a smoothing Plane, ' J. E. Bonner'; and a Basket. A man called at the shop for work on the 2nd instant, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, full face, and whiskers round chin ; dressed in hard felt hat, pepper and salt colour Jacket, and ccrd Trousers. Information to Mr. Superintendent Blake, Berks Constabulary, Clewer.— Bow- street, February 4. Between 1 aud 6' 45 a. m. on 30th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. J. Tysoe, of Pendleton, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : twelve large and twelve small silver table Forks; four silver sauce Ladles ; twenty- four silver tea Spoons; and six silver egg Spoons, all Grecian pattern, maker's initials ' G. A.,' London Hall marked, gadroon ornamentation on handles, the forks are four pronged, stamped on the back of the ^ houldor, with crest— arm and shield ; a pair of silver Snuffers, and silver Tray, with finger loop, beaded round the bottom, and both are stamped with crest- stag's head ; twelve silver plated fish Knives ; twelve silver plated fish Forks, plain ivory handles ; a pair of silver plated grape Scissors ; a pair of silver plated ice Tongs; a REWARD BILLS. Handbills or other advertisements offering rewards ; for the discovery of stolen property, or the detection of crime, forwarded for insertion in the Police Gazette, or for distribution by the Metropolitan Police, must state clearly:— ( 1). The amount of the reward. ( 2). The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by the persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of the offender. [' The following form is suggested. " A reward of £ will be paid by cf to any person who gives information leading to the apprehension or conviction of the offender or offenders ( and the recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered), or leading to the discovery of the missing person. Wanted, charged ( with another girl in custody) with housebreaking at Moseley Hole on 7th instant: a girl, about ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen' from the person, during the Conservative Demonstration, at Oxford, on 3rd instant: a silver Watch, white dial, steel hands, large figures, open face, with flint glass, No. 47828;' and a single case silver lever Watch, maker * Johnson, London' E. H.' on back, No. 3367. Supposed by a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in a long drab ribbed coat, buttons down front, and hard felt hat. Also from the house of Mr. Finnigan, of Pendleton, ( supposed entered by means of false keys), between 2' 30 and 6' 30 p. m. 30th ultimo : a plain gold wedding Ring ; a keeper Ring, chased; a black ooburg cloth Dress, with quilted bottom ; a black coburg cloth Dress, with four flounces, fashionably made up; four pairs of grey knitted man's woollen Socks; a pair knitted Socks ; a plum- coloured Paisley Shawl; two men's white linen Jackets, single- breasted, and pockets at each side ; a man's round bowler Hat, nearly new ; a pair of Trousers and a Vest, man's size, made from brown tweed ; a black cloth double- breasted Vest; a white cotton twill Sheet, marked ' M.' in red cotton; a woman's white flannel Skirt, nearly new ; a pair of woman's kid Boots, 5 size, with toe- caps and elastic- sides ; a pair of woman's leather Boots, elastic- sides, 6 size ; a pair of man's elastic- side Boots, recently soled and heeled ; a white cotton Muffler ; a red Pocket- handkerchief; a white Pocket- handkerchief; three cotton Pillow- cases; six silver tea Spoons, plain pattern ; a red coburg Skirt, with two rows of black braid at the bottom. Remanded at Lambeth Police Court, until 9th instant, for being upon the roof of a jeweller's shop with housebreaking implements iii his possession : DANIEL MURRAY, 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, large scar left side of forehead, scars between eyebrows, on back, and between thumb aud forefinger left hand, first joint third left finger deficient, anchor and diamond and five large vaccination marks on left arm, six front teeth deficient, two in lower, four in upper jaw ; dressed in blue pilot overcoat, velvet collar, side pockets, dark mixture suit, black and white check shirt, black and white striped scarf, black hard felt hat, lace boots ; respectable appearance. JAMES BOOTH, described in the Police Gazette of 14th ultimo, charged with stealing a Mare, at Chebsey, has been apprehended. Information - to Mr. Superintendent Crisp, Police Office, Ston » , Staffordshire.— Bow- st, Feb. 9. During the night of 28th ultimo, a Sheep was killed in the Hill field at Chadwell Court farm, Sheriff Hales. And during the night of 29th ultimo, 2 Sheep were killed in the Long Common field, Cliadwell Grange, Sheriff Hales, and one Shoulder and part of one Leg taken away. Informa- tion to Deputy Chief Constable, Oswell, Forebridge, Stafford, or to Sergeant Dix, Police Station, Church Eaton, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, February 4. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Wanted, on a warrant, for larceny, as bailee, of £ 25 4s.: HENRY NICHOLSON, late a sergeant in the Sunderland Police Force, 30 years of age, 5 feet 10- i iuches high, pale complexion, hazel eyes, brown hair, slightly pockpitted, rather slender build, sharp features, slight whiskers, and moustache, is a native of Scorton, near Richmond ; dressed on 2nd instant, in a blue cloth reefing jacket, light trousers, land hard felt hat. Information to Chief Constable Nicholson, Sunderland. — Bow- street, February 9. . Absconded from Tuubridge Wells, on 1st instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a Coat, a pair of Trousers, and other ' articles from a public house where he lodged 2 nights : a man named CARNELL, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, light sandy hair, few whiskers and moustache ; dressed in long brown single- breasted overcoat, light trousers, fitting tight, black Oxford hat, which appears too small for him; walks very upright. Has been in the Army. Information to the Head Constable, Tunbridge Wells.— Bmo- street, February 9. Absconded from East Orchard, on 3rd instant, charged on warrant with stealing Two Sovereigns from his lodgings : CHRISTOPHER LODGE, labourer, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, and walks a little lame ; dressed in dark speckled suit, black billycock bat, and hob- nailed lace- up Kots. He may try to enlist. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Pitfield, Dorset* Constabulary, Shaftesbury, Dorset, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, February 9. Stolen, in transit between Chaddesley Corbett Post- office and the Cross Hotel, Bromsgrove, on 22nd ultimo : a Letter, addressed to the Collector of Excise, containing two Cheques ( one for £ 18 8s., the other for £ 12) on Hoare and Co., drawn by the Rev. F. A. Marriott; three half Notes (£ 5 each) of the Bank of England ; and eight penny and one halfpenny Postage Stamps. £ 3 reward will be given to any person giving such information and evidence as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, on application to the Treasurer of the Chaddlesley Corbett Association for the Prosecution of Felons. Information to Mr. Superintendent Wheeler, Police Office, Stourbridge, Worcestershire,— Bow- street, February 9. Stolen from a lodging house at Neston, during 19th ult. : a silver lever Watch, old, had attached a piece of silver Chain ; a blue pilot Jacket, with red plaid lining, two pockets with flaps outside, and one inside left breast; a blue pilot Vest; a pair of nailed lace- up Boots, nearly new. By a lodger named JOHN EATOCK, alias FRODSHAM, alias FRIEND, who had been living tltere a week, having come from Hindley, near Wigan, a collier, about 25 years of age, slender build, long features, about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair and c; m- plexion, and wba. s slight whiske ® and moustache ; may be wearing the stolen clothes. Is wanted for similar offences by the Wigan aud Sheffield Police. Information to Chief Super- intendent Egerton, County Constabulary, Birkenhead, Cheshire, who holds a warrant.— Bow- street, February 9. In custody, charged with larceny : WILLIAM DAVIES, name supposed fictitjj^ about 28 years of age, 5 feet 3i inches high, fair complexi^^ Bey eyes, light eyebrows, light sandy hair, parted in th^^ Bldle, moustache same colour, [ shaves clean; dressed in greyloose coat and vest, with black square markings, brown cloth ribbed trousers, elastic- side boots, and hard felt hat. In his possession was found a gold English lever Watch, open- face, white dial, No. 6249. He has been disposing of several gold Lockets, silver Alberts and Chains, quite new, for less than one- third of their value. The above are supposed to be the proceeds of a burglary. Information to Mr. Superintendent Haigh, Town Hall, Kidderminster.— — Bow- street. February 9.
