DUBLIN, FRIDAY, JANUARY 2, 1880. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division, PARTICULARS relative to Convict John M'Grath, 14858, convicted at Longford, county Longford, at Trinity Sessions* on 23rd June, 1875, for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 6 years penal servitude:— 46 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a roman Catholic, married, has one child, is a shoemaker, born at Granard, resided before conviction at Granard, his friends reside at Longford; dark browh hair mixed with gray, brown eye ( right eye blind), brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, pockmarked, oval vitage, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, a number of small blue marks under right eye, and on left cheek and forehead from the effect of an accident by powder, body very much marked with small- pox ; large scar in left groin, varicose veins in left leg, lost one front and a number of upper back teeth. This convict was released on license from Spike Island Prison, 24th June, 1879 ; he left his residence without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 34 & i) 5 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, December 17, 1879. ( 18076 30038.) MISSINg from Lusk Convict Prison, the convict whose description is subjoined, and who was last seen at 4 o'clock P. M., on the 2nd December, 1879:— Charles Douglass, otherwise Scott, 32 years of age at present, convicted 25th March, 1870, at Belfast, no trade or calling, sometimes holder- up to boiler- makers; born in Belfast; resided before conviction in Belfast, where his friends reside; brown hair, no whiskers, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, prominent nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, small oval visage, dimplo on chin, slight make, 5 feet 5| inche3 high, a small round blue mark on ball of each thumb, lost an upper front tooth; wore a jerry hat, dark frieze monkey jacket, cord trowsers, printed barracan vest, shoes, all marked with letters L. P. Information respecting the above- named con- vict to be given at the Constabulary Stations, or to the Officer in charge of convicts at Lusk Prison, county Dublin. Notice.— A reward of from £ 8 to £ 5 may be paid to any person who may apprehend and deliver up a convict who shall have effected his escape from a Government Prison. Application to be made to the Governor of the Prison. By Act 19th and 20th Vic., cap. 68, sec. 32, it is provided that any person who shall by any means whatever, aid and assist any prisoner to escape, or in attempting to escape, shall be guilty of felony, and being convicted thereof, shall be kept in penal servi- tude for any term not less than 6 nor more than 8 years. DESCRIPTION of James M'Evoy, native of Finglas East, who stands charged with having, on tho 27th December, 1879, between the hours of 2 and 3 o'clock a. m., in the barony of Castleknock, parish of Finglas, forcibly entered the house of a very poor woman named Johanna Hamilton ( unmarried^, aged 80 years, and attempted to commit a rape on her person:— hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abcut 22 years of age, brown hair ; wore a white barracan jacket, dark tweed trowsers and vest, strong nailed slioe3 ( laced) ; is a labourer, but has a knowledge of the stone- cutting trade ; is a discharged convict, and was convicted on 7th of April, 1878, for a rape and sen- tenced to 5 years penal servitude. WHERSAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of the 10th or morning of the 11th instant, ninety- six sheep, the property of Michael O'Neill of Glencroff; ten sheep, the property of Pat Halloran, his herd; four sheep, the property of Patrick Nee, and two sheep, the property of Thomas Nee, of Gorteenclough; two sheep, tho property of Michael Conneely of Rusheenduff; and fourteen sheep, the property of Mr. H. C. Smyth of Ballyconneely, were stolen, or maliciously thrown into the sea from off the cliffs in the townlands of Kanrower and Toonadooravaun, in the parish of Ballinakill, county Galway, W. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of 7.30 o'clock, P. M., on the 7th December, three shots were fired at the door of the house of Patrick Timmons, of Fordstown, in the pa'ish of Girley, in the county of Meath, one of which penetrated the door and grazed the arm of the said Patrick Timmons: , His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same, and a reward of FIFTY POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Antoine S Butler, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Athboy, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. The stolen cow has been restored to ihe owner. Sligo, DESCRIPTION of John Lenaghan, native of Boyle, county Roscommon, who stands charged with having, on the 28th December, 1* 79, in the barony of Co'ran, parish of Emlaghfad, stolen 3s. from Michael M'Garry, with whom he lodged in ihe house of Charles Ligue, at Ballymote :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 or 85 years of age, dark hair; wore a low round bat, dark frock coat dark trowsers, brown vest, clothes rather shabby, coat broken onthe shoulders; is a tailor.
