All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to he transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can biT inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26, 1879. SCOTTISH POLICE. PERTHSHIRE CONSTABULARY. £ 45 REWARD. WANTED at Dunblane, charged along with others now in custody there, with having about 2 a. m. of 3rd November last, on the lands of Keir, near Dun- blane, in the county of Perth, seriously assaulted Wi of the gamekeepers there, whereby he has since died of the injuries inflicted on him :— William Sands, a shoemaker, native of Thornhill, Perthshire, who has been residing for some years past in Glasgow, and lately at 153, Gloucester- street ( Southside) there, where his wife is at present residing. He is 23 years of age, looks older, about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches in height, a strong- boned man of ordinary make and broad shoulders, in kneed, walks with a swing and toes wide apart, dark, short- cut hair, little or no whiskers, short moustache, having a slight brown tinge, which it is said he has since got clean shaved off, sandy complexion, longish face, broad cheek bones, short nose, and a rather wide mouth; may be found wearing dark or gray shabby tweeds, dark g'ay . cloth cap, aud a blue cloth jacket or top coat. His father, Archibald Sands, is a slater, residing at 151, Crookston- street ( Southside), Glasgow. Hugh M'Kay alias M'Luskey— A labourer, native of Govan, and lately residing at 21,' James- street, there, aged 23 years, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches in height, ordinary well built, fair or light brown hair, small light moustache ( if any), no whiskers or beard ; generally wears a blue cloth jacket and dirty mole- skin trowsers. John Maxwell— Fitter or riveter, native of Green- ock, lately residing at Govan, where he spent most part of his days, aged 21 years, 5 feet 5 inches in height, dark hair, small dark moustache, nowhiskers or beard, ruddy complexion, stout made, hazel eyes, and large dark eyebrows ; generally wears a blue cloth topcoat, gray tweed trowsers, and white muffler. A reward of £ 45 is offered for the apprehension and conviction of the above in the following manner, viz.:— In the event of the conviction of the three men, a reward of £ 45 will be given to the party giving such information as will lead to their apprehension and conviction, or on the conviction of any one of them, a reward of £ 15 will be given to the party giving such information as will lead to his apprehen- sion and conviction. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John M'Grath, 14358, convicted at Longford, county Lo^ ford, at Trinity Sessions, on 23rd June, 1875, for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude;— 46 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, married, has one child, is a shoemaker, born at Granard, resided before conviction at Granard, his friends reside at Longford; dark brown hair mixed with gray, brown eye ( right eye blind), brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, pockmarked, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, a number of small blue marks under right eye, and on left cheek and forehead from the effect of an accident by powder, b idy very much marked with small- pox ; large scar in left groin, varicose veins in left leg, lost one front and a number of upper back teeth. This convict was released on license from Spike Island Prison, 24th June, 1879 ; he left his residence without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 84 & 85 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board December 17, 1879. ( 18076 M.— 80036.) MISSINO from Lusk Convict Prison, the convict whose description is subjoined, and who was last seen at 4 o'clock P. M., on the 2nd December, 1879:— Charles Douglass, otherwise Scott, 32 years of age at present, convicted 25th March, 1870, at Belfast, no trade or calling, sometimes holder- up to boiler- makers; born in Belfast; resided before conviction in Belfast, where his friends reside; brown hair, no whiskers, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, prominent nose, large _ mouth, sallow complexion, small oval VHag< vdimp" le on chin, slight make, 5 f- et 6 J inches high, a small round blue mark on ball of each thumb, lost an upper front tooth; wore a jerry hat, daik frieze monkey jacket, cord trowsers, printed barracan vest, shoes, all marked with letters L. P. Information respecting the above- named con- vict to be given at the Constabulary Stations, or to the Officer in charge of convicts at Lusk Prison, county Dublin. Notice.— A reward of from £ 3 to £ 5 may be paid to any person who may apprehend and deliver up a convict who shall have effected his escape from a Government Prison. Application to be made to the Governor of the Prison. By Act 19th and 20th Vic., cap. 68, sec. 32, it is provided that any person who shall by any means whatever, aid and assist any prisoner to escape, or in attempting to escape, shall be guilty of felony, and being convicted thereof, shall be kept in penal servi- tude for any term not less than 6 nor more than 8 years. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Nelson, 241- 2675, convicted at Belfast, borough of Belfast, at Borough Sessions, on 1st December, 1878, for breaking into a counting- house with intent to steal, and two previous convictions for felony, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude and 8 years Police Supervision:— 21 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is an Episcopalian, single, a labourer, born in Holywood, county Down, resided before conviction in Agnes- street, Belfast, where his friends reside, brown hair, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows,' regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high, J. N. tattooed on left forearm. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 23rd June, 1879, and went to Belfast. He has failed to report himself to the Royal Irish Constabulary since the 1st inst., and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 27, 1879. ( 17818 M.— 29798.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Kelly, 819- 14245, convicted at Ennis, county Clare, at Michael- mas Sessions on 27th October, 1874, for burglary, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude:— 30 vears of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single born in Athlone, resident before convictiou in Limerick, where his friends reside ; brown hair, bald on crown, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, prominent nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high; lost five upper and two lower teeth. This convict was released on licence from Spike Island Prison, the 14th November 1879, bnd went to reside in Dublin, on the 19th inst. he left his residence, 7, Bull- lane, without notifying same to Police, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 84 & 35 Vic., cap. L12. General Prisons Board, November 34, 1879. ( 17792 m.— 29748). PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Purcell, 273- 2719, convicted at Dublin, county of the city of Dublin, at Trinity Sessions, on 8th June, 1875, for larceny, and sentenced to 6 years penal servitude :— 23 years of age on conviction, can read and right, is a Roman Cathol c, married, is a slater, born in Denzille- street, Dublin, resided before conviction in Church- street, Dublin, his wife resides at 38, Church- street, Dublin; black hair, brown eyes, black eyebrows, ordinary nose ( has been broken,) medium mouth, sallow complexion, pock pitied, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; scar on bridge of nose, left side of head, back of head, and under right eye; E. F. A. L. C., and some dots tattooed on back of left band ; I. anchor and dots on left wrist anchor on thumb. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 7th August, 1879, and went to reside at 1, Sandwith- lane, Dublin, on the 5th inst., he notified his intention of going to Liverpool, but be has not reported himself to the Police here, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 85 Vic. cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 24, 1879. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Ryan, native of Cappa- white, who stands charged with having, on the 29th day of September, 1879, in the barony of Kilna- managh, parish of Toem, failed to appear at Petty Sessions, on 12th December, 1879, as he was bound to do by recognizance, on a charge of grievous assault— See hue- and- Cry, 7th October, and 12th December, 1879:— Left knee bent inwards, causing a slight halt in his walk, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 80 years of age, light brown hair; wore a black jerry hat, brown Coat, trowsers, and vest; is a blacksmith. DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of William M'Farland, which was stolen out of his byre, at Learden Upper, barony cf Strabane Upper, and parish of Bodony Upper, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th December, 1879:— A yellow cow, wide straight horns, right horn a little turned down at point, 8 or 9 years old, in fair condition; and value for £ i. Newtownstewart, Dec. 22, 1879. ( 25i55 0— 43143.) DESCRIPTION of James Hare, native of Drumquin, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, 1879, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Ardstraw, fired at Bryan Molloy, a watcher to the Duke of Abercorn, at Ballyreenan:— Has a slight swagger when walking, speaks with a strong Northern accent, high cheek bones, small beard under the chin, moustache and chin shaved, there may be some cuts on his face and head; gray eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 65 years of age, dark hair turning gray ( worn pretty long), wore a hard round hat, old tweed coat, trowsers ( patched) and vest; is a labourer.
