Bow- street, December 10. BURGLARY AND HOUSE MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Charged at Dunblane, along with others now in custody, • with having on 3rd ultimo, at Keir, near Dunblane, Perth, seriously assaulted one of the gamekeepers _ there, whereby he has since died of the injuries inflicted on him : WILLIAM SANDS, a shoemaker, native of Thornhill Perthshire, who has been residing for some years past in Glasgow, and lately at 153, . Gloucester- street, ( Southside) there, where his wife is at present residing, he is 23 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, a strong boned man of ordinary make and broad shoulders, in- kneed, walks with a swing and toes wide apart, dark short- cut hair, little or no whiskers, short moustache, having a slight brown tinge, which it is said he has got clean shaved off, sandy complexion, longish face, broad cheek bones, short nose, and rather wide mouth. May be found wearing dark or grey shabby tweeds, dark grey cloth cap, blue cloth jacket or top coat. His father Archibald Sands, is a slater, residing at 151, Crookston- street ( Southside), Glasgow. HUGH M'KAY, alias M'LUSKEY, a labourer, native of Govan, and lately residing at 21, James- street there, 23 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, [ ordinary well built, fair or light brown hair. Generally wears a blue cloth j acket, and dirty moleskin trousers. JOHN MAXWELL, fitter or rivetter, native of Greenock, lately residing at Govan, where he spent most part of his days, 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, ruddy com- plexion, stout made, hazel eyes, and large dark eyebrows. Generally wears a blue cloth top coat, grey tweed trousers, and white muffler. £ 15 reward will be paid by the Procurator- Fiscal, Dunblane, to any Police Officer who shall apprehend the above- named persons, or £ 5 for any one of them. Information to Mr. Superintendent Stewart, County Police, Dunblane, who holds a sheriff's warrant for their apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, December 15. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Budgwick, on 9th instant : a pair of worsted cord Trousers ; a black cloth Jacket and Vest; a billycock Hat; 2 blue striped cotton Shirts ; a pair of lace- up Boots with three hooks at the top. By a tramp about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, brown hair, and dark moustache ; dressed in the stolen clothes, leaving his own dirty ones behind in a lane near Cranleigh ; he was wearing the Trousers turned up at the bottom of legs. Information to Mr. Superintendent Henderson, West Sussex Constabulary, Horsham.— Bow- street, December 15. Between ] p. m. on 7th and 5 p. m. on 11th instant, the parish church of Morland was entered, and stolen therein: a white jean Bag, 12 inches long and 6 broad, without string, containing £ 8 8s. 9| d., consisting of half Sovereign, Half- crowns, Florins, Shillings, Sixpences, fourpenny Pieces, three- penny Pieces, and nearly £ 1 in Bronze. Information to Mr. Superintendent Spencer, Appleby, Westmorland, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, December 15. Stolen, by means of burglary, on 12th instant, at White Waltham : two Sovereigns ; £ 2 in Silver ; 10s. in Farthings ; about two or three Shillings in old Copper Coins ; five silver Tea Spoons, fiddle pattern, initial ' T. M. A.'; a grey plaid tweed Coat, lined with slate- coloured lining, two hip pockets and one breast pocket ; a Purse, containing 6d. in one of the pockets of Coat. Supposed by a man, from 27 to 30 years of age_, 5 feet 8 inches high, stoutly built, very full face, no whiskers or'moustache ; dressed in white short slop, moleskin trousers, black billycock hat, strong lace- up boots, and had the appearance of a navvy. Information to Mr. Superinten- dent Iremonger, County Police Station, Maidenhead, Berks. Bow- street, December 15. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at North Myms, Potters Bar, on 10th instant : a lady's gold Geneva horizontal Watch, No. 38800; and £ 2 10s. in gold. Supposed by two men, one about 5 feet 6 inches high, 23 years of age, fair . complexion; dressed in dark coat, pockets outside, low crowned hard felt hat. The other 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion ; dressed in dark coat, with pockets outside, and low crowned hard felt hat. Information to Inspector Penn, Police Station, Hatfield, Hertfordshire.— Bow- street, December 15. Between 10 p. m. on 12th, and G a. m. on 13th instant. Sandford Hall, prees, Salop, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a very dark grey single: breasted Overcoat, very good material, made as a military great coat, black velvet collar, one pocket inside right breast, and one on each side outside, and a row of buttons down centre in front ; about 2 lb. of Cheese ; about 2 lb. roast Beef ; a Pork- pie ; part of a beef- steak Pie ; and two three- half pint Bottles of Scotch Whisky, label on bottles white, marked ' E. Jones, Whit- church,' also top of cork in bottles stamped in red sealing wax ' E. Jones, Whitchurch.' Information to Mr. Superintendent Haines, Whitchurch, or to Sergeant Owen, Wem, Salop.— — Bow- street, December 15. CORNELIUS CREW, charged under a warrant with Horse stealing, and advertised in Police Gazette of 5th ultimo and subsequent dates, has been apprehended at Cwmbran, Monmouthshire.— Bow- street, December 15. Stolen from Haley, Surrey, during the night of 11th inst. : a black cob Mare, aged, 14 hands high, rough coated, short mane, long tail, in good condition, and over on the fore legs ; an old light spring calf Cart, with board missing in front, black painted seat, wiili leather strap, ' J. Elliott, Haley, Surrey,' painted on off shaft ; also a set of old light cart Harness, with one of the hip straps broken. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bedford, Surrey Constabulary, Godstone. — Bow- street, December 15. Stolen from Pilton, on 7th instant: a chesnut cart Colt, 2 years old, white face. Information to Deputy Chief Con- stable Bisgood, Glastonbury, or to Sergeant Williams, Shepton, Mallet, Somersetshire.— Bow- street, December 12. Found at Wing, Bucks, on 22nd ultimo ( supposed stolen) : 3 half- bred Ewe Sheep, two with white faces, the other black, not branded. Information to Inspector Sutton, Police Station, Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, Bucks.— Bow- street, December 10. FORGERY. Description of BENJAMIN STONE BUXTON, charged on warrant with forging and uttering a Cheque on Crompton and Evans' Union Bank, Wirksworth, for £ 24 12*., on 1st, instant: 30 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 11 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, brown eyes, long thin face ( pimpled), mole on left side of chin, brown hair, thin sandy beard and moustache; dressed in Bedford cord trousers, brown cloth coat and vest, and soft brown bat; he is a native of Aldwark, near Wirksworth, Derbyshire. £ 5 reward will be paid to anv person who shall give such information as will lead to the arrest of the above named ( on conviction). Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Whieldon, Constabulary Office, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, December 10. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Longsight, between 4 50 and 5T5 p. m., on lltli instant, an old English silver lever Watch, • white dial a blue streak across it, gold hands, No, 3868 or 3686, maker George Lowe, Chester, had attached a long silver Chain. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bent, County Constabulary Office, Old Trafford, near Manchester, or at the nearest Police Station.— Bow- street, Dec. 15. Stolen in the neighbourhood of Market- street, Man- chester, between 9' 3p and 10 p. m. 25th ultimo : a gold lever Watch, centre seconds, decimal dial, No. 5107.9, had appended a common brass Guard. £ 2 reward will be paid by the owner for the recovery of watch " and guard and apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, or recovery of the same. Also stolen on the evening of 25th ultimo : a gold lever Watch, gold dial, steel hands, cases far worn, maker Bunyan, of Manchester, No. 33593. £ 2 reward will Tbe paid by the On 7th instant, Penucharllan Farm, Llanfawr, Bala, was entered, and about £ 39 10s. in Gold; £' i in Silver; and about £ 1 in Coppers stolen therein. The man advertised in Police Gazette of 5th instant, as having escaped from Ruthin Prison on 30th ultimo, is suspected : he may be found at some seaport intending to leave the country, probably Liverpool, Swansea, or Cardiff. Information at Chief Con- stable's Office, Dolgelley, or to P. C. Jones, Police Office, Bala, Merionethshire.— Bow- street, December 10. Between 2 and 4 p. m., on 7th instant, a house at Prees Lower Heath, Salop, was broken and entered and stolen therein; a double- breasted black Ulster Overcoat, nap material, buttons close round neck with small band across throat, ( i or 7 buttons down each breast, band across the back, and buttons on at each hip, also buttons in centre, having been cut through, and, length nearly down to the ankle, pockets each side, and 2 or 3 buttons on each sleeve at wrist; a pair of brown dog skin gloves, lined with wool, the thumb on left hand glove is spotted ; a snake pattern Clothes Brush, no handle, black and white bristles ; and about £ 6 in Gold. Information to Mr. Superintendent Haines, Whitchurch, or to Sergeant Owen, Wem, Salop.— Bow- street, Deceiriber 10. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. The man advertised in the Police Gazette of 5th instant, charged with stealing a Cape on 2nd inst. from St. Albans, has been apprehended by the Metropolitan Police at Edge- ware. Information to Mr. Superintendent Pike, Police Office, St. Albans, Herts.— Bow- street, December 15. Charged at Tunbridge Wells, with stealing from a house where he went under the pretence of engaging apartments, and while awaiting the arrival of his luggage; ascuall double- bottomed consular silver Geneva Watch, No. 4907 ; a small gold Brooch, containing hair ; a silver cross Brooch; a gold Ring with a piece of coral in; and s. HIT ALL Box, with the name of ' Solomons' on it : he is about 30 years of age, medium height, dark complexion, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache; dressed in brown overcoat, with velvet collar, snuff- coloured trousers, large at bottoms, black felt hat, and brown kid gloves. Information to the Head Constable, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, December 15. Absconded, charged on a warrant with larceny as bailee, MABK BOYLE, a sweep, 28 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark curly hair, thick dark moustache, very dark: complexirft; at times travels with roundabouts and swing boats, attending fairs and races; a native of Charl- bury, Oxfordshire. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bassow, Northleach, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, Dec. 15. Charged with stealing an Overcoat, since recovered, at Slough, Bucks, on 12' h instant : a man who slept in the house the previous night, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion ; dressed in a light grey soft billycock hat, grey oyercoat, black under coat, and light trousers. He is carrying a rush basket containing plasterer's tools, he goes from town to town, takes lodgings at some private house and decamps in the morning with anything he can lay his hands on. Information to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, Dec. 15. Stolen on 8th instant, at Horstedkeynes, Sussex: twenty- two Sovereigns; twenty- five Half- sovereigns; and 5s. ' in Silver. By a navvy, a fellow lodger, who has been working on the new line of railway from East Grinstead to Lewes- CHABLES WEBB, 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches higl^ dark complexion, dark eyes, black hair, whiskers, and mous- tache, turning grey, stout; dressed in black monkey jacket, lined with flannel, cord trousers, black waistcoat, with white buttons, and velvet back, black soft high crown billycock hat, and is supposed to be wearing small ear- rings, his " left leg is shorter than the other, his hip having been injured, and he limps when walking. Information at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Mr. Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 15. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. During the night of 13th instant a Ewe Sheep, Shrop- shire Down Breed, was slaughtered in a field at Aston Hill, Edgmond, Salop, the two legs and two shoulders, and part of the skin cut off and stolen, and the other part of the carcase and skin left in the field. Information to Chief Superinten- dent Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Waterson, Newport, Salop.— Bow- street, December 15. The Pony advertised in Police Gazette of 1st instant and following dates, as stolen from East Grinstead, has been recovered. Information to Mr. Superintendent Berry, East Grindstead, Sussex,— Bow- street, December 15. The Man charged with stealing a lady's black leather Bag and an Accordian, from St. Alban's, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 8th instant, has been apprehended, and the Accordion recovered, but the Bag is still missing. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Pike, Police Office, St. Albans Herts.— Bow- Street, December 15. Description of JOSEPH WOODINGS, of Newborough End, a labourer, 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers or moustache, light brown hair, grey eyes, slight build ; dressed in black cloth jacket and vest, woollen cord trousers, black soft billycock hat, and strong lace- up boots ; charged with stealing a Deer, the property of the Hon. Emily Charlotte Meynell Ingram, of Hoar Cross. Information to Mr. Superintendent Henston, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, December 15. Charged with stealing at Old Hill, on 9th instant, a pair of very strong lace- up Boots, nearly new, heavily nailed with large clinker nails, round outside soles: a man, 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, medium build, dark swarthy com- plexion, black straight hair, dark eyes ; dressed in old black cloth jacket, patched on back and under each arm, old mole- skin trousers, patched on thighs, black close fitting cap, with peak, and the stolen boots. Is a native of Two Gates, Cradley, Worcestershire, by trade a miner and a navvy. Information to Inspector Walters, Old Hill, near Dudley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, December 12. December 15 Absconded from Carlton, on 5th instant, charged with stealing an silver English lever Watch, No. 5172 ; also with stealing £ 14 in gold and silver Money, belonging to the Great Northern Railway Company, at Colwick, near Notting- ham: GEORGE EVERILL, otherwise EVERETT, alias MOSCOW, alias GLOUCESTER, from 27 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, wearing when last seen a large moustache and stumpy beard on chin ; dressed in dark cloth jacket, and cap with peak before and behind. His father was a detective in Birming- ham. Warrants have been issued for his apprehension. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hallam, County Police Station, Nottingham.— Bow- street, December 12. Stolen on 7th instant, at Colmall, a Pit Saw, about 6 feet 6 inches long, marked letter ' H' ; also a Pile. By a tramping sawyer, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion and whiskers, and hand tied up in a hand- kerchief. Information to Mr. Superintendent Blunsdon, Ledbury, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, December 12. Absconded from Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, charged with embezzlement: W1LLIAM FREWER, late treasurer for the borough of Bury St. Edmunds : he is 68 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, fiesh complexion, grey eyes, rather long face, light brown hair, turning grey, small whis- kers at sides of face, shaved on chin and upper lip, thin but rather large frame, walks slightly stooping ; generally dressed in black cloth frock coat, aud high hat, which he wears on the back of his head ; carries an umbrella, is a plumber aud glazier by trade, speaks French fluently, may go abrod. In- formation to Mr. Superintendent Clarke, Police Office, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, December 12. Absconded, charged with embezzlement : JOHN W MILLER, clerk, 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, bla « k curly hair, slight dark whiskers and mous- tache ; dressed in dark frock coat and vest, grey trousers, high hat.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, Dec. 10. Description of WILLIAM SLATER, deputy steward at Featherstone Main Colliery, charged with larceny : he is about 31 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, li rh. t brown hair, dark moustache, whiskers shaved off, a native of Lancashire, and well known in the district of Ashton- under- Lyne, Bardsley, and Oldham. Information to Mr. Superintendent Whincup, West Riding Constabulary, Pontefract, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- s'reet, Daernnber 10. Absconded from Hinckley, on 3rd instant, charged with stealing £ 31 in Gold ; six Crown Pieces ; and 10s. in other Silver Coins, one a Shilling, has a very large hole in it: JOSEPH WARDEN, a shoefinisher, of Leicester, ( who had been lodging in the house), 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet ( 5 or 7 inches high, brown hair, no whiskers, small moustache, rather inclined to be saidy, and light pale complexion; dressed in black cloth coat, cotton cord trousers, militia boots, with tips on heels, and hard black billy hat; he has served 2 years in the 17th Regiment, aud always carries his discharge with him ; lie now belongs to the Leicester Militia, and has attended three trainings; his parents and wife reside in Leicester. Information to Mr. Superintendent Chapman, Police Station, Hinckley, Leicestershire, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 10. Stclen at Heavitree, Devon, between 30th ultimo and 5th instant: a black cloth single- breasted Overcoat, much worn, but new black giazed lining, black cloth buttons, inside breast pocket, two outside pockets, aud ticket pocket; a blue rib single- breasted Overcoat, ticket pocket and two other pockets outside, inside breast pocket, black velvet collar, bone buttons, bound with fine cloth, black lining, and fly fronts ; and a new blue cloth double- breisited Overcoat, black lining._ Supposed by a man, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stoutish build, light brown hair, nearly cleau shaved, fresh complexion, and sharpish nose ; dressed in new cord or grey trousers, bowler or felt, hat, may be wearing one of the stolen overcoats, as he pledged his own. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable of Devon, Exeter.— Bow- street, Dcc. 10. Absconded from Pewsey, on 7th instant: an Irishman, by trade a tailor, about 35 or 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, large sandy whiskers and moustache, fresh complexion ; dressed in a dark faded cloth jacket, with pockets on the hips, blue cloth vest, light trousers, low shoes, and hard felt hat-, tattooed on arm ; charged with slealing a rough brown cloth Overcoat, with velvet collar, lined with violet and black lining ; also a boy's blue cloth pilot Jacket, much worn, lined with black lining. Information to Inspector Maggs, Wilts Constabulary, Pewsey.— Bow- street, D cember 10. Description of a man who offered a Dress for pledge, which was stolen from Crumpsall, on the night of 2nd inst. : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, no whiskers, has a cut mark either on the right or left cheek, underneath the eye ; dressed in a pilot cloth reefer coat, and billycock hat. Information at County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.-— Bow- street, December 10. Stolen at Walkden, between 4th and 6th instant : a black cloth Vest, single- breasted, four cloth buttons down the front, lined with light satin; a pair of ribbed woollen Stockings ; and an old plaid woollen Shirt. Supposed by a man who lodged in the house, and has since gone to Ashton- under- Lyne : about 27 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, and stout built ; dressed in black and white plaid trousers, patched at the knee and behind, dark tweed vest, and black cloth cap. Information at County Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester.— Bow- st., December 10. Absconded, charged with stealing £ 15 : a clerk, 32 years of age, complexion, hair, whiskers ( slight) aud moustache fair; dressed in short dark coat, dark trousers, deerstalker hat.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, December 10. Absconded on 3rd instant, charged with stealing £ 15 : a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, hair parted in centre, slight moustache ; dressed in blue serge suit, dark overcoat, deerstalker bat; wears a silver snake ring.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, December 10. Absconded on 3rd instant, embezzling £ 7 2s. 4d. : a earman, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sallow com- plexion, moustache ( slight), hair, and eyes brown, sleepy looking ; dressed in blue frock coat, brown trousers, billycock hat; has been a soldier.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, December 10. Stolen on 5th instant : a silver Geneva Watch ; 2 keeper Rings, stamped ' 18 carat'; a brown Overcoat, plaid lining, • velvet collar, two pockets on hips, one left breast; a black cloth frock Coat; a pair of black cloth Trousers and Vest; 2 pairs of Boots, one men's lace, one lady's side- spring; a lady's black cloth Jacket; a, dark green silk Skirt ; a grey silk Skirt; and a lady's grey Ulster. By a woman, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair ( turning grey), slight build; dress, jacket, aud bonnet black. Speaks with an Irish accent.— Metropolitan Police, R Divisions, December 10. Charged at Blyth, Northumberland, with larceny of a Bed Rug and cotton Sheet, rug recovered, between 17th and 2lst ultimo: JOHN HOWARD, alias HOWETT, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high? slender make, fair complexion, small thin face, small twisted ' nose, brown hair, worn long aud curled up at ends, bald on top of head, strong moustache, cheeks shaved, bv trade a painter, very talkative, much addicted to drink, belongs to Scarborough, Yorkshire dressed in a black « > at and vest, black and white checked trousers, much worn grey cloth double- peaked cap. ne may go to Driffield.
