DUBLIN, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1879. ENGLISH POLICE £ 20 REWARD. STOLEN on tho night of the 5th instant, six pieces of black silk, viz. :— One piece 70 J yards in length, one pieco 76^ yards in length, one piece 79 J yards in length, one piece about 50 yards in length, one piece about 46 yards in length, and one piece 87^ yards in length, all the ordinary width of 22 inches ; one piece of satin de Lym, 45 yards in length ; one silk jacket, lined with squirrel and trimmed with gimp; one Sicilian silk jacket, lined and quilted sarcenet; one cashmere mantle, lined with squirrel; one sealskin in piece; one cashmere serge jacket, braided with silk, kilted bottom ; one horn handle gentleman's crutch umbrella; three ladies' umbrellas, brown silk; three black lexantive umbrellas; two fancy mounted brown silk umbrellas. The above reward will be paid by the owner for the recovery of the above- named property and appre- hension of the thief or thieves, in proportion to the amount recovered, or for such information as ahall lead to a like result. _ ..... ^ Pawnbrokers and others are requested to ex limine their stocks, and should any of the above articles be offered in pledge or for sale, detain the person , so offering, and immediately communicate with Chief Inspector NORTCLIFFE. MISSING from Lusk Convict Prison, the convict whose description is subjoined, and who was last seen at - 1 o'clock P. M., on the 2nd December, 1879:— Charles Douglass, otherwise Scott, 32 years of age at present, convicted 25th March, 1870, at Belfast, no trade or calling, sometimes holder- up to boiler- makers'; born in Belfast; resided before conviction in Belfast, where his friends reside; brown hair, no whiskers, hs/. el eye?, brown eyebrows, prominent nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, small oval visage, dimple on chin, slight mako, 5 feet 5 J inches bigb, a small round blue mark on ball of each thumb, lost an upper front tooth; wore a jerry hat, daik frieze monkey jacket, cord trowsers, printed barracan vest, shoes, all marked with letters L. P. Information respecting the above- named con- vict to be given at the Constabulary Stations, or to tho Officer in charge of convicts at Lusk Prison, county Dublin. Notice.— A. reward of from £ 3 to £ 5 may be paid to any person who may apprehend and deliver up a convict who shall have etlected his escape from a Government l'rison. Application to be made to the Governor of the Prison. By Act 19th and 20th Vic., cap. 68, sec. 32, it is provided that any person who shall by any means whatever, aid and assist any prisoner to escape, or in attempting, to escape, shall be guilty of felony, and being convicted thereof, shall be kept in penal servi- tude for any term not less than 6 nor more than 8 years. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Nelson, 341- 2675, convicted at Belfast, borough of Belfast, at Borough Sessions, on 1st December, 1878, for breaking into a counting- house with intent to steal, And two previous convictions for felony, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude and 8 years Police Supervision:— 21 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is an Episcopalian, single, a labourer, bora in Holywood, county Down, resided before conviction in Agnes- street, Belfast, where his friends reside, brown hair, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 4J inches high, J. N. tattooed on left forearm. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 23rd June, 1879, and went to Belfast. He has failed to report himself to the Royal Irish Constabulary since the lsti inst., and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 37, 1879. ( 17818 m.— 29798.) PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Kelly, 319- 14245, convicted at Ennis, county Clare, at Michael- mas Sessions on 27th October, 1874, for burglary, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude:— 30 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, born in Athlone, resident before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside ; brown hair, bald on crown, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, prominent nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage/ fitout make, 5 feet 4 inches high; lost five upper and two lowei teeth. This convict was released on licence from Spike Island Prison, the 14th November, 1879, and went to reside in Dublin, on the 19th inst. he left his residence, 7, Bull- lane, without notifying same to Police, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest. he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 24, 1879. ( 17792 M.— 29748). PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Purcell, 278- 2719, convicted at Dublin, county of the city of Dublin, at Trinity Sessions, on 8th June, 1875, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude : 23 years of age on conviction, can read and right, is a Roman Catholic, married, is a slater, born in Denzille- street, Dublin, resided before conviction in Church- street, Dublin, his wife resides at 33, Church- street, Dublin; black hair, brown eyes, black eyebrows, ordinary nose ( has been broken,) medium mouth, sallow complexion, pockpitted, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; scar on bridge of rose, left side of head, back of head, and under right eye; E. F. A. L. C., and some dots tattooed on back of left hand; I. anchor and dots on left wrist anchor on thumb. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 7th August, 1879, and went to reside at 1, Sandwith- lane, Dublin, on the 5th inst, he notified his intention of going to Liverpool, but be has not reported himself to the Police here, and his present whereabouts are unknown. Loughrea, parish of Loughrea, escaped from the Loughrea Bridewell, where he was confined on remand, charged with assaulting a gamekeeper at Portumna:— Walks very erect, active appearance, very small whiskers and moustache, fresh cut on nose; gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, thiu face, slight make, 5 feet 64 inches high, about 20 ssturs of age, fair hair; wore a blue serge uniform cpffi, and trowsers, no vest, black straw or chip hat; the was that of the King's County Militia, to which he belongs; is a poacher and rijfly^ herer. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 20th November, 1879, at Ratoath, in the barony of Ratoath, parish of Rathoath, stolen an ass and car, the property of James Lawless, of Dunshaughlin :— Small dark whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, dark complexion, dark face, rather stout make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a low black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers,, and Vest, carried an old frieze overcoat on his arm which was ripped on the back of collar. DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Kittrick ( mother's sur- name Keelan), native of Corduff, county Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on the 16th of October, 1879, in the barony of Farney, parish of Magheross, seriously assaulted Festus Finnegan:— Good- looking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, fresh face, medium make, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark or brown hair; clothes cannot be described; he is a carpenter's apprentice. DESCRIPTION of James Hare, native of Drumquin, who stands charged with having, on the 29 th November, 1879, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Ardstraw, fired at Bryan Molloy, a watcher to the Duke of Abercorn, at Ballyreenan:— Has a slight swagger when walking, speaks with a strong Northern accent, high cheek bones, small beard under the chin, moustache and chin shaved, there may be some cuts on his face and head; gray eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 11 inches high, about 65 years of age, dark hair turning gray ( worn pretty long), wore a hard round hat, old tweed coat, trowsers ( patched) and vest; is a labourer. Edward Nowlan ( 1428), about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, ordinary make, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, but very short, blue eyes, long and slightly cocked nose, ordinary mouth, long and good- looking visage ; formerly belonged to 45, Lower Stephen- street, Dublin, where his par- ents reside.
