THE Police Gazette, OR SOTEfr- ASHIB- Cmr. Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can bo inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1879. ENGLISH POLICE. £ 2 REWARD. STOLEN from a dwelling- house in this Borough, on the 30th instant, the following articles, viz.:— A lady's gold watch ( Exhibition Prize Medal), No. 29,133, maker Savill, Liverpool, g Id dial and engraved case, had attached a lady's gold neck chain with a small gold pencil case, a gold cockleshell locket wiih the likeness of a lady inside ; a silver English ( Geneva make) watch, old, and case much worn; a round silver brooch, with carbuncle stone in centre; a silver and malachite brooch, in the form of a knot; a silver and malachite brooch, Maltese cross; a silver- gilt brooch, with crest and motto " Nihil Sinf Labore j" a gold hair ring, motto " Regard," last letter missing ; a gold hair ring, set with ruby and pearls, repaired With part of a keeper ring; and a gold keeper ring. Pawnbrokers, ifcc., are requested to detain the above property, or any person or persons who may offer the same for pledge or sale, and give information thereof at the office of the Head Constable, Cen'ral Police Office, Birkenhead. Should this property be pledged prior to the delivery of those bills, the pawn- brokers are requested to communicate the same at this office. Central Police Office, Birkenhead, November 30, 1879. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Nelson, 241- 2675, convicted at Belfast, borough of Belfast, at Borough Session?, on 1st December, 1873, for breaking into a counting- house wiih intent to steal, and two previous convictions for felony, and sentenced to 7 yoars penal servitude and 3 years Police Supervision:— 21 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is an Episcopalian, s'ngle, a labourer, born in Holy wood, county Down, resided before conviction in Agnes- street, Belfast, where his friends reside, brown hair, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval vnage, medium make, 5 feet 4^ inches high, J. N. tattooed on left forearm. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 23rd June, 1879, and went to Belfast. He has failed t> report himself to the Royal Irish Constabulary since the Ist inst., and his present whereabouts are unknown In the event of his arrest he should be dealt wiih under the 5th section of the Act 84 and 85 Vie,, cap. 112. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Kelly, 819— 143i5, convicted at Ennis, county Clare, at Michael- mas Sessions on 27th October, 1874, for burglary, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude:— 30 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single bora in Athlone, resident before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside ; brown hair, bald on crown, hazel eyes, dark eyehrows, prominent nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high ; lost five upper and two lowei teeth. This convict was released on licence from Spike Island Prison, the 14th November. 187 9, and went to reside in Dublin, on the 19th inst. he left his residence, 7, Bull- lane, without notifying same to Police, and his present whereabouts are unknowD. In the event of his arrest ho should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 84 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 24, 1879. ( 17792 M.— 29718). PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Purcell, 273- 2719, convicted at Dublin, county of the city of Dublin, at Trinity Sessions, on 8th June, 1875, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude :— 28 years of age on conviction, can read and right, is a Roman catholic, married, is a slater, born in Denzille- street, Dublin, resided before conviction in Church- street, Dublin, his wife resides at 33, Church- street, Dublin; black hair, brown eyes, black- eyebrows, ordinary nose ( has been broken,) medium mouth, sallow complexion, pockpitted, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high: scar on bridge of nose, left side of head, back of head, and under right eye; E. F. A. L. C.; and some dots tattooed on back of left hand; I. anchor and dots on left wrist anchor on thumb. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 7th August, 1879, and went to reside at I, Sandwith- lane, Dublin, on the 6th inst.. he notified his i- tention of g ing to Liverpool, but be has not reported himself t> the Police here, and his present whereabouts ara unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5 th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic. cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 24, 1879. ( 17792 m.— 29748 ) DESCRIPTION of the undermentioned, who are wanted for having uttered a large number of forged National Bank notes for £ 10 each, in Dublin, on 18th ultimo:— 1. Thomas Green, alias Harrington, about 82 years old, 6 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead, male on right chest, lost a bottom tooth, right middle finger deformed; was convicted of horse- stealing at Guild- ford, Surrey, February. 1874, sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, and released on licence from Mill- bank, February, 1878. 2. Name unknown, about 40 years old, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, very stout build, dark hair, black moustache and side whiskers, chin shaved. 3. Name unknown, about 36 years old, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, black moustache, jaws and chin shaved, erect military gait, and gentlemanly manner. All three represented themselves as horse- dealers, were comfortably dressed, spoke with strong English accent, had no luggage but a black Gladstone bag, they obtained nearly £ 900, chiefly in Irish bank notes. DESCRIPTION of three bullock calves, the property of James Brady, which were stolen from the lands of Lisnasarue, parish of Drumgoon, barony of Tully- garvey, between the evening of 29th November and morning of 2nd December, 1879, viz.:— 1. Shell off left horn, white, black head and neck, 11 months old ; value for £ 1. 2. Gray colour with light brown stripes through body and neck, 10 months old ; value for £ 2 15s. 3. DESCRIPTION of James M'Ginn, native of Clon- keefy, who stands charged with having, on the 25 th November, 1879, in the barony of Castleraghan, parish of Castleraghan, committed a rape:— Bad countenance, under lip thick and prominent, remark- able for size and strength, and speaks abruptly; dark gray eyes, straight nose, sallow complexion, long face, very stout mate, 0 feet high, about 80 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft felt hat, dark clothes, Wellington boots ; is a pig- jobber. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Crowley, native of Shana- cr. ne, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 28th November, 1879, in the barony of Eagt Carbery, W. D., J arish of Kilmeen, seriously assaulted John Brien farmer, by striking him on the head with a stone, inflicting a serious wound thereon: — Left shoulder somewhat high, regular nose, fresh complexion, medium make, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, whitish hair; wore a black Irieze coat, gray irowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Ward, native of Portumna, who stands charged with having, on the 21st Nov- ember, 1879, in the barony of Loughrea, parish of Loughrea, escaped from the Loughrea Bridewell, where he- was confined on remand, charged with assaulting a gamekeeper at Portumna:— Walks very erect, active appearance, very small whiskers and moustache, fresh cut on nose; gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5J inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a blue serge uniform coat and trowsers, no vest, black straw or chip hat; the uniform was that of the King's County Militia, to which he belongs; is a poacher and rag gatherer. DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Kittrick ( mother's sur- name Keelan), native of Corduff, county Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on the 16th of October, 1879, ia the barony of Farney, parish of Magheross, seriously assaulted Festus Finnegan:— Good- looking, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, fresh face, medium make, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark or brown hair; clothes cannot be described; he is a carpenter's apprentice. DESCRIPTION of James Hare, native of Drumquin, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, 1879, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Ardstraw, fired at Bryan Molloy, a watcher to the Duke of Abercorn, at Ballyreenan:— Has a slight swagger when walking, speaks with a strong Northern accent, high cbeek bones, small beard under the chin, moustache and chin shaved, there may be some cuts on his face and head; gray eyes, long nose, pale salloyr complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 55 years of age, dark hair turning gray ( worn pretty long), wore a hard round hat, old tweed coat, trowsers ( patched) and vest; is a labourer.
