INFORMATIONS. EUEDEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On 24th October last the body of a female child supposed about a month old and to have been dead about five or six weeks, was found in a dyke at March, iu the Isle of Ely, and a Coroners Jury having returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' £ 50 reward will be paid by II. M. Government to any person other than a person belonging to a Police Force in the United Kingdom, who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the Murderer or Murderers of the said child, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of H. M. Gracious Pardon to any accomplice not not being the person who actually committed the Murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to Mr. Superintendent Burrows, Idarch, Isle of Ely.— Bow- street, December 3. brown cardigan Jackets ; 3 light and 2 dark coloured cotton Handkerchiefs; 6 or 7 men's Shirts, different patterns and colours; 3 small Turkey red pocket Handkerchiefs ; 4 blue tlannel Jackets, two lined with grey linsey, two not lined, pockets outside, black iron buttons, man's size; 2 pairs of Blankets, stitched round with red worsted ; 4 printed woollen Shirts, two black and white spots, one red with black spots, the other black with yellow spots or black with red spots, man's size ; 12 pairs of men's knitted Socks, some dark grev, and some light grey; 1 blue flannel Shirt, all new. At 9 30 a. m. on 12nd ultimo, 2 Jackets and 2 Shirts ( part of this property) were pledged in Warrington by a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sallow complexion, clean shaved, full face ; dressed in blue reefer jacket, cloth cap, woollen shirt grey with red stripes. Had the appearance of a tramping navvy. And a woman, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 iuches high, fresh complexion, light auburn hair, inclined to be wavy ; iiad an old black shawl Over her head, aud was of dissipated appearance. Stolen from East Bagshot Lodge, on 22nd instant, by means of burglary: three £ 5 Bank of England Notes, stamped ' London and County Bank, Manningtree'; £ 28 in Gold ; about £ 3 in Silver ; two Purses, one green silk with gold beads, the othei a leather clasp purse, and a small red aud black check flannel Bag ; and three of the following four £ 5 Bank of England Notes— Nos. 24942, date 14th November, 1878; 249% 3, ditto ditto; 41103, 24th February, 1879 ; 41156, ditto ditto, all stamped ' London and County Bank, Manningtree.' Description of SAMUEL FOX, charged with arson, at Baddaley Green, near Stoke- on- Trent, on 29th ultimo : a farm labourer, about 52 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair, slight whiskers, slender build, swinging gait, and narrow face ; dressed iu a round soft billycock hat, dark tweed jacket and vest, cord knee breeches, leggings, and strong nailed boots, nearly new, and tips on heels. Information to Mr. Chief Superintendent Hill, Burslem, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 3. FORGERY. Description of DAVID ANDERSON, late of 136, Wool Exchange, Coleman- street, London, E. C., charged on a warrant with forgery and intent to defraud the Union Bank of Kingston- upou- Hull, Limited, of £ 300 : he is 36 or 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slender build, light brown hair and moustache. Iuformation to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.- Bow- street, December 3. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 11 a. m. 30th ultimo, and 8 a. m. 1st instant, the lock- up shop, Stoke- on- Trent, was entered and stolen : three Razors, with black handles ; two ditto, white handles; six black snuff Boxes, silver gilt edges ; two pairs of Scissors ; a Cigar- case ; aud a pair of common sleeve Links. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bowen, Stoke- on- Trent, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, December 3. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Aston, near Birmingham, between 3' 30 p. m. and 5 p. m. on S9th ultimo : a lady's gold open- faced English lever Watch, No. 62273, enamelled dial, arid engraved case; also a lady's gold Chain, diamond pattern. Information to Mr. Superintendent Gallaway, Constabulary Office, Aston, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen by means of burglary, at Handsworth, during the night of 30th ultimo : a long brown mixture ribbed cloth Overcoat, single- breasted, man's size ; a pair of brown cloth Trousers, fly fronts ; a pair of men's elastic- side Boots, block fronts, nearly new ; a Jacket and Vest, grey plaid, both double- breasted ; 2 calico Shirts, one marked 1 Henry Hanley, 2nd Warwick Militia'; a pair of light grey worsted Stockings ; a blue and white plaid Scarf ; a calico Shirt, old- fashioned, very high collar; one red and white cotton Handkerchief; and 4s. 9d. in Money. Between 8' 30 p. m. 21st, and 8' 30 a. m. 22nd ultimo, a shop at Widnes was broken into, and stolen therein ; 3 dark HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a field at East Grinstead, on the night of 8tli ultimo : a black gelding Pony, 13 hands high, aged, has white hairs on back from saddle, and a spavin on one hock, it was bought from the Lewes ' Smith's,' at Forest Row Fair, on 8th ultimo. Information to Mr. Superintendent Berry, East Grinstead, Sussex.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen from a stable at Fincham, on 25th ultimo : a Mare ( recovered). By BINNTNGHAM, about 22 yrs. of age, 5 feet high, light complexion, pockpitted, no whiskers, slight scratch on face, recently made ; dressed in light over- coat, black chummey hat, tight- legged trousers, and clogs ; is fond of dancing and singing in public- houses, formerly travelled to fairs with a^ showman named Francis, as the champion clog dancer, was last seen between Brandon and Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. Information to Mr. Superin tendent Sewter, Downham Market, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen from a field in Iffley, Oxon, on 29thultimo : three Oxford down She? p, viz :— two fat Tegs, and one store Teg, marked on near side with the letters ' J . S. P.' iu red paint the property of Mr. Jas. Parker ; supposed stolen by twojthick set men, they were dressed, iu rough coats, driving fast trotting chestnut cob, and high sided butchers cart. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as may lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves. Information to Chief Constable Owen, County Police Station, Oxford.— Bow- street, December 3. Found at Biddenden, Kent, on 8th ultimo, supposed stolen : 20 Kent Ewe Sheep, one with black head and legs, red liver mark on back. Information to Mr. Superintendent Waghorn, Kent Constabulary, Cranbrook.— Bow- street, Dec. 3. Stolen during the night of 28th ultimo, at Plox Green, near Minsterbay : a brown half- bred wagon Mare, 15 hands high, 7 years old, white streak from forehead to end of nose, white nose ; and a brown filly Colt, which was suckling on the Mare. Information to Mr. Superintendent Howells, Shrewsbury, or Sergeant Langford, Minsterley, Salop.— Bow- street, December 3. Supposed stolen on the night of 25th ultimo, from a field at Sowdley, near Market Drayton, a yearling Lamb, Shrop- shire Down Breed, with black face and legs ; the property of Mr. Samuel Glassy, farmer, of Sowdley, Salop. Information to Mr. Superintendent Haines, Whitchurch, or to Sergeant Merricks, Market Drayton, Salop.— Bow- street, December 1. Stolen from a field at Brierley Hill, on 27th ultimo : one Hereford Heifer, coming 3 years old, white head, white streak down the back, roan coloured sides, horns about 10 or 12- ins. long, iu fair condition; and two red aud white spotted Stirks, coming 2 years old, very long hair on them, Irish breed, and in fair condition. Information to Mr. Superinten- dent Woollaston, Police Office, Brierley Hill, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, December 1. Stolen at Higher Blackley, on 26th ultimo, a dark brown Mare, which has since been found slaughtered at Wood's knacker yard mills, Miles Platting, by a boy, 11 years of age, fresh complexion, and full face ; dressed in dark clothes and Scotch cap. : It is supposed he will be found sleeping out in brick kilns, & c. Information at Couuty Police Office, Old Trafford, Manchester, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 1. Found in Brierley Hill on 25th ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen; a dark brown half bred Horse, aged, about 15 hands high, the near fore foot, and the off hind foot both white, saddle mark on chiue, white mark down the face, tail cut, rough coat, and in low condition. Information to Mr. Superintendent Woollaston, Police Office, Brierley Hill, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, December 1. Stolen from a stable at Fincham, on 25th instant: a Mare ( recovered). By a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet higb, light complexiou, no whiskers, slight scratch on face recently made ; dressed in light- coloured overcoat, black chummy hat, tight legged trousers, and clogs. Is fond of singing and dancing iu public houses. Last seen between Brandon and Bury St. Edmonds, Suffulk. The bay cob Gelding, advertised as stolen from a stable at Ingham, Suffolk, on the night of 19th instant, is recovered, and a warrant has been issued against CHARLES MANN, of Thetford, for stealing the same : Mann escaped from the police at Thetford, Norfolk, on 23rd instant, he is about 27 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, full face, brown hair, small brown whiskers aud moustache, stout made ; dressed in dark cloth coat, light cord trousers, and black soft chummy hat; is a baker by trade, but looks like a dealer, a native of Thetford, Norfolk. Information to Mr. Superintendent Clarke, Police Office, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.— Bow- street, November 23. Stolen near Lowe's Barn, Durham, on 20th or 21st inst., a light grey Mare, aged, 15 hands high, strongly made, clean legged, rough coat, and long mane and tail ; was suckling a foal when stolen. Information to- Mr. Superintendent Dunn, Couuty Constabulary Office, Durham,— Bow- street, Nov. 28. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Blackmore, Essex, on the morning of 24th ultimo, charged with stealing Turkeys : ARTHUR KETLEY, 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy com- plexion, hazel eyes, brown hair and whiskers ( half way dpwn cheek), of smart appearance ; dressed in brown cloth . suit, such as is generally worn by dealers, soft black wideawake hat, and lace- up shoes; by trade a butcher. He took with him his wife and two children, girls, one 3 years, and the other 11 months old. He has driven cabs in London about 2 years ago, and li- fed at one time with Mrs. Wilkinson, of 5, Kilmore- grove, Lower Sydenham, Kent. He took train from Brentwood to London. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Lennon, Constabulary Office, Chelmsford, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Dec. 3. Absconded from Alton on 22nd ultimo, charged with, embezzlement: FREDERICK HAMILTON, alias BEN- HAM, 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, slight figure ; dressed in a dark grey suit, felt hat, and low shoes ; had in his possession a pedlar's certificate for Surrey and Hants, and is well known at Wool- wich, Brentford, and Chatham, having previously travelled as a quack doctor, he is very talkative, frequents low public houses, has been in the Army. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Waters, Hants Constabulary, Alton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen between 2 30 and 4' 50 p. m. on 29th ultimo, at Clevedon, Somerset : a silver mustard Pot and Spoon; a pair silver sugar Tongs, plain ; a silver sugar Spoon, chased on handle; an electro- plated tea Caddy, oblong shape, hold about 1 lb. ; and a small square travelling Clock, makers Vicigues and Repingou, 129, Regent- street, London. Sup- posed by a niau dressed iu dark clothes, with red handker- chief round his neck, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, and stout built. Information to Sergeant Melburre, Clevedon, or to Mr. Superintendent Drewett, Flax Bourton, Bristol.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen- from Liverpool- street Station of the Great Eastern Railway, on 14th ultimo : a small brown leather Portmanteau, tied with white cord and strapped, supposed to have a brass plate on it, bearing the name of' F. Ridley.' The portmanteau contained 4 white and coloured Shirts, 4 pairs of Socks, 2 silk pocket Handkerchiefs, and six White ones, shirt Fronts, Cuffs, Coat and Vest, hair Brush and Comb, Bible, and a pair of Shoes. The linen is marked 1 Ridley' in ink. The Coat is of blue serge. The whole of the clothing is much worn. The above is supposed to have been stolen by a young man of very respectable appearance, about 21 years of age, medium height, full face, rather fair, slight light moustache. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Hedington, Police Office, Great Eastern Railway, Liverpool- street Station, London.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen at Wadhurst, between 10 p. m. on 20th, and 9 a. m. on 27th ultimo : a dark check Vest, rather large pattern, single- breasted, man's size ; and a pair of dark brown cloth Trousers, flap fronts. Supposed by a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, museulir twitching of eyebrows, rather light hair, few light whiskers, slight figure, no fixed residence, grocer's assistant, out of', employment ; dressed in dark brown jacket, dark trousers, round crown stiff hat, and light boots, with slits cut in front; supposed to be a native of Cowfold, and knows Horsham and district well. Iuformation to Mr. Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, or to Sergeant Avery, Court House, Mark Cross, Sussex.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen at Newtown on 27th ultimo, a black cloth Jacket, with pockets on hips ; a brown and white plain cloth dittof pockets on hips, and Vest of same material; a pair of fawn colour cloth Trousers, - white stripe ; two pairs of blue woollen Stockings, one white tops, two marked ' J. P.' at top of leg ; a pair of strong lace- up Boots, brass eyelet holes, and about three hooks at lop ; and two blue check Shirts, half worn. Supposed by a man, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair, small moustache, lost little finger of one hand ; supposed to be native of South Wales, he having worked at Dowlais blast furnaces. Description of JOSEPH STONE, a groom, horse- clipper, & c,, charged with stealing at Blackford, Wedmore, Somerset, on 29th ultimo : £ 10 in Gold, Sovereigns and Plalf Sovereigns, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers, slight mous- tache ( two or three weeks growth), has a film over part of the left eye, and stoutly built; was wearing a new dark plain cloth overcoat, dark clothes under, and black bowler hat. States he has been in the army, and was wearing a pair of military braces, marked ' J. Stone, Koyal Artillery.' Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Gillbanks, Axbridge, Somerset, who holds a warrant for his t apprehension.— Bow- street, December 3. Description of WILLIAM JOHN EVANS, of Winford, Somerset, charged © n a warrant with felony on 25th ultimo, with another who has been apprehended : 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light sandy hair, small moustache, no whiskers, pale complexion, and slight build ; dressed in a brown overcoat, light coloured trousers, and black bowler hat; has travelled in the oil and colour trade. Information to Mr. Superintendent Drewett, Flax Bourton, Bristol, or to Sergeant Dewey, Somerset Constabulary, Totterdown, Bristol,— Bow- street, December 3. Description of WILLIAM JOHN TAYLOR, a watch- maker, native of Durham, charged at Whitby with stealing a lady's gold Watch, since recovered, on 13tli August last: he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet high, grey eyes, dark liair, small dark moustache, no whiskers, laJ- ge heavy chin, causing his face to look long, short nose, large open nostrils, burn mark on right side of cheek ; Was dressed in a grey coat and trousers, and black hard felt hat. Travels about the country seeking employment amongst watchmakers, jewellers, & c , has been convicted at Morpeth and Darlington. Information to Mr. Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen at Middlesbrough, on 25th ultimo, " a dark blue rough nap cloth double- breasted Overcoat, lined with black Italian cloth, black velvet collar, black covered buttons, sup- posed to have ' W. Pearson' on loop inside collar, two pockets outside and one inside left breast, it is home- made and nearly new, had in one of the pockets a pair of olive coloured kid Gloves, black sewing on backs ; also a pair of brown or coffee coloured striped Trousers, no linings, blue jean pockets, full fall fronts, black buttons stamped ' W. Pearson,' both Coat and Trousers are man's siae. By MATTHEW HOGG, a native of Middlesbrough, a potter, packer, or warehouse man, or may be labouring, 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 ins high, proportionate figure, pale complexion, light brown hair, and whiskers round his face; dressed in a light or grey slack back jacket, white moleskin trousers, tied with band round knees, a grey soft billycock liat( coloured necktie and white eollar, and also wears a white apron from his neck down- wards. Mav be found in | some common lodginghouse. If found, to be apprehended, and information to Chief Con- stable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, December 1. , Stolen at Chalfont St. Giles, on the night of 27th, or morning of 28th ultimo : an old- fashioned pair cased silver Watch, crack on dial, steel Chain and Key attached ; and a dark cloth vest, with light stripe, nearly new. By a man who lodged in the house two nights, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark eyes, fresh complexion, dark moustache and whiskers, email; dressed in a daik pilot jacket, dark vest, light plaid trousers, small pattern, mended up the leg, and dark cap with cheeseeutter peak. Information to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, or to Inspector Breene, Police Station, Beaconsfield, Bucks.— Bow- street, Dceember 1. Charged with stealing a small silver Geneva Watch, with chased back, at Eynsford, near Dartford, on 28th ultimo : a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark brown hair, cut short, pale face, no whiskers or moustache, has a very peculiar nose, being very flat on the bridge, and a little turned on one side, large ears, two front teeth project out j dressed in dark diagonal coat, dark trousers and vest, black felt hard hat, dark necktie, and side- spring boots. Is a- tailor by trade, and stated that he had lately worked for Mr. Hills, tailor, Maidstone. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, Decembw 1. Stolen from a hut on the new railworks ' at Newiclc : a pair of strong watertight Boots ; a pair of wool Stockings ; a white Slop ; and a Cap. By a navvy known as ' NORFOLK SPIDES,' about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, very dark complexion, black hair, cut short, black whiskers, meeting under chin, and of diity appearance; dressed in moleskin trousers, dark vest, and stolen boots, slop, and cap; well known on new railway and public works. Information to Mr. Superintendent Osbon, Lewes, Sussex.— Bow- street, December 1. Absconded on 27th [ ultimo, charged with stealing £ 31 10s. in Gold : a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, high cheek bones ; dress, cord trousers, faded blue pilot coat, round felt hat. - Metroolitan Police, W Division December 1. Stolen on 25th ultimo, at Severn Stoke, Upton- on- Severn ; a pair of old black cloth Trousers, and au old grey mixture Vest,, both much worn. By a tramping painter who was then lodging at Cottans cottage, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, slender make, pale complexion, sandy moustache; dressed when he left in dark blue or mixture coat, vest, and trousers, all much worn, he may be wearing the stolen vest and trousers. Most likely to be found in some low lodging house. Information to Mr. Superintendent Turner, Police Office, Upton- on- Severn, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, Dec. 1. Stolen from Wrexham, on 24th instant, a japanned tin Cash Box, with brass handle, containing a Saving Bank Con- tribution Book, two Sovereigns, two Half Sovereigns, in Gold, and about £ 3 in Silver and Copper. Supposed by two men, qne about 20 to 25 years of age, light hair, red faee, and stoutly built; dressed in a dark over coat, and a flat crowned billy cock hat. The other about 45 years of ago, dark hair, and. whiskers, and stoutly built; dressed in dark clothes. Information to Chief Constable Leadbetter, or to Deputy Chief Constable Wilde, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, November 28. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Wanted for obtaining faod and lodgingsjby false pretences: PAUL BARRETT, alias R, T. BARRETT, aud R. T. KNIGHT, 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair com- plexion, oval face, dark brown hair, reddish beard ( may have shaved), hazel eyes, proportionate build, ' P.' and blue spots left wrist, also two large scars, scars on left hand, lst left finger, and on knuckles of left fingers ; a mechanical engineer; dressed in dark suit, small crowned Oxford hat, and carries a bamboo stick. He has been several times convicted at Brighton, and tries to converse with Constables, & c. Has a father residing in Truro, Cornwall. He is a frame work knitter by trade, a native of Leicester, but is well known in the Midland towns, and is now wanted at Northampton for felony.
